But nah, there were 3 rosters that really stood out to me, and none of the 3 were yours.
While it is way too early for Waluigi, since you didn't actually decide to put him on your roster, it seems odd to vote for you because of it, especially when it happened last round.

But who knows? I was wrong about who'd get out last time.

You can be as biased as you want with your votes, but vote-vulturing is explicitly not allowed. IE: Voting for the same person multiple times but giving no valid, sensible reason.

Not necessarily I like rosters with originality with them along with series balance. If people are putting up the roster of what's really expected for smash it get's a bit boring. For example, I like the retro picks, Duck Hunt Dog, Mach Rider, Excite Biker, B. Guy, because they aren't just cool picks, but original. That's why I added Hikari and Donbe because they were a cool pick, and no one else had them. And I still find them deserving out of the pool of characters available for this round. If everyone selected the five characters everyone is expecting, it kinda takes the fun out of it doesn't it?

Ridley is not a new series.
And this setup for a roster makes me think you don't want me to see the full choice for some reason.

Bah... Whatever. I'll defend my choices.
Metroid is the 4th biggest franchise, so I thought I should keep him.
Of the 3 old series reps I added, Ridley is the one that's been requested since Melee. K Rool wasn't a popular pick until Diddy was confirmed for Brawl, and Palutena wasn't a popular pick until Uprising.
Other series should get more characters before Kid Icarus gets 2.
And I think Diddy should get in before K Rool.
I'd say my new roster makes even more sense than my safe one.
Xenoblade, Advance Wars, Golden Sun, and Balloon Fight all get representation. Which I think they all deserve. And I'd be happy to make an easier to see version when I have my laptop.

This isnt saying Im voting for you, but tis certainly quite annoying considering it seems to serve no purpose than to be annoying and have galactica spacing.

Also, Donkey Kong is the fourth biggest Nintendo franchise, in terms of sales.

Well, if we don't count Mario spin-offs, Wii Fit and Super Smash Bros, Kirby would be 5th and Metroid would be 6th.

If anyone wants to read my last post, detailing my thought process in this roster, here it is.

This is a little difficult for me, as I did have a lot of franchises already represented.
I cannot add Toad without Peach and Luigi in. I cannot add Vaati without Zelda, K Rool or any third rep if Mario gets none....even Ridley without King Dedede upsets me.

But not that difficult.

I believe I will be adding:

Mii as a random type of slot
Balloon Fighter for Retro
Dillon for downloadable titles
Isaac for handheld

Hmm... I could use some Wii representation with Shulk, increase Mario to three with Paper Mario, add in a beloved but controversial character with Banjo Kazooie (who just seems so unique in his standpoint, because he didnt used to be third party, and that is what I would want to represent, but ultimately probably not how it would be seen), Bomberman would experience a not too better fare, I may go Cooking Mama because I love her and she just adds something no one else I have does.... most other characters are just a bit too obscure at this time. This isnt the game to put my Sakurai brain on and blow some amazing choices out of the water and into the Shuriken.

Guess I should pull out Sakurai's requirements again.

But none of these are completely original, nor fully satisfying, so I will likely alter these additions after a night of pondering. Ultimately I am indeed a bit screwed having not added too many from Mario or Zelda before this... so, I know what I must do next round if I make it through with whatever I come up with this round.

As a quick summary, this round was difficult, as I didnt want to misrepresent any franchise in terms of character proportion, which meant that I couldnt add any third character (without adding a stretch of a character to Mario-- or paper mario, but its not his time) and not another second character (if Kirby wasnt getting one, I didnt think another did. Only, POSSIBLY, Metroid and Ridley, but everyone added him).

So I had to get creative. I hope you respect my choices.


Balloon Fighter: for retro, and more aerial fun
Isaac: Gameboy/portable rep, unique character, heavily requested
Shulk: Wii representation, and because he has become the foil to Isaac in representation, on this thread
Dillon: Downloadable games era rep, plus he is just adorable and easily has a unique moveset
Mii: For a random character slot, sort of. He takes the form of another character (in a Mii body, of course-) and has their moves. Alternatively, you can select your own created one with moves other fighters use, but this is only for fun and non competitive)

I did struggle with wanting to add Cooking Mama, even relatively recently, but without being able to add some other staples, I just thought this was too controversial for this time being.

Depends on your definition I suppose. I personally think picking only characters on the Smash Roster is considered 'Safe'. Obviously a lot of the ones on the real roster are there for a reason(Mario, Link, DK, Pikachu, Samus, Kirby, Bowser, Zelda, etc), but there's plenty that are questionable;

Ice Climbers for example are 'safe' characters, but I can't see them as particularly required and there were far more important retro characters to include before them who did more for the industry or had a bigger fan following. Not such a problem if only one or two add them but if they're the only retro being added by everyone first it's clear they're being picked because Sakurai did it, and thus no one could have complaints with the real roster.

Another problem with everyone playing it too 'safe' is that the rosters will all look the same, and thus will be harder to judge.

Just remember; Sometimes a curveball character will work in your favour, sometimes it backfires, but they are always interesting talking points.

Providing ya know, the sensible choices are all there first. Don't for example forget to include the vital characters in favour of the wacky ones. That never works out well.
