flaco, do you even read the responses to your own questions? You're just searching for questions to answer at this point. If you have a real question, post it. But if you're just posting a question out of boredom, don't.

Hey look! A question not about mods or rep!

Is there an IRC channel for Smash World/Smashboards? If not, I suggest there should be.

I think it'd be an awesomely fun IRC channel to hang out in. It'll get quick results for simple question, and it'll be fun to discuss simple topics without having to wait an entire day to get three responses.

Is Victoria's Secret considered E for everyone? The site seems really concerned about cursing and stuff, but there's weird, sexually explicit ads floating around...what's up with that?

There may have some really hot stuff in the ads, but not sexual. Though we suggest people to report the extreme sexual and dirty ads. We don't want them.

For the Victoria's secret, it's alright as long as it's ''hot'' only, and not ''explicit''

Unless the link to it is as hidden as this topic, it would be a good idea according to me. I personaly have trouble using the search option or the FAQ, I just manually search for half an hour because I'm patient. If I have trouble using the search option, I wonder how new people react in front of the system.

If everyone could see it (not like this topic), according to me, it would be just awesome. People could use it to know if they can post something, if they can't post something, etc. It could even replace the ''report post''. (Plus we could reply back to the user saying ''thanks'' or ''I can't warn the person for this and this reason'')

Though I don't know how SWF could include that.

If I get admin approval and advertising, I'd be happy to set up a channel. How about it, Admins?

Sorry to be answering questions in this thread, but Wak didn't really answer it. There's already a DC++ channel, Xsyven. If you mean something less Smash focused for the kind of discussion that goes on in the PRoom, I don't know, but the DC hub has all the smash stuff covered. It sounds interesting, though. Oh, and Kenny, quick note. Rooms are never deleted, only removed from the list. If you just want to be able to look back at the old rooms for nostalgia or whatever purposes, you'll still be able to access the rooms by typing in their URL, they just won't be displayed on the index.

Most likely, at least with what happened with Melee before release, the room stayed the same. (Hence how occasionally someone bumps a 6 year old topic about who they think is going to be in Melee)

What will likely with the Brawl rooms is that we will keep General Brawl Discussion where it is, and that will turn into what Melee Discussion is now. Then, we will split up Character Discussion into the various Character rooms, once we know who all the characters are.

Well I know that Gideon said these about the rep system-Due to problems with the reputation system, it has been temporarily disabled. In a few weeks we may open it up for discussion,ok when they open it for discussion are your rep gonna be the same as when they where taken off or you need to start all over again?

If we were to get a rep system, we would start it over. Too many people had more rep than they deserved. Furthermore, it would probaby be a different system completely because the first one obviously failed.

That is, if we get a new rep system.

Somewhere cool..... Somewhere in a cave....A speci
Hold on a minute, we can't make a topic that is similar to another topic, and we have to discuss the topic you wanted to discuss about, but if that topic is an old topic, and we can't bump an old topic which is a topic that you want to discuss, then doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose? Or do we have to say something really big and informative in that old topic so a mod doesn't close it?

Sorry for making the post hard to understand.

What is the maximum allowed amount of characters per post? I ask this because I plan on making a thread that contains an abundant amount of information sometime soon.

Actually Wak, I think it's like 4500 characters. For topics like that, we sometimes are lax on Double posting, but it has to be something REALLY interesting and important.

Waiting for reason to purchase a Wii
Can we display gamer ids(Wii Numbers(especially), PNP(PS3 ids), Gamertags(360), and Xfire) where our location when we post?

Such an Example of what I mean can be seen here at http://www.cheapassgamer.com/(when you click on Gamertags and Xfire a tab comes up showing whether he is online and if you want to send a friend request. And right now Wii numbers can not be seen unless we view a members profile.
I understand that this is a "singular game forum" but none the less it is a video game forum that could benefit from these features. If we can post our AIMs why not our gamer identification?(also this is vBulletin Version 3.5.4, and we are on 3.6.0 so this could be done right?)

edit: or at least we used to be able to post our Aims:dizzy:

Because then our forum databases would be full of peoples images for signatures. Just use some imagehosting site like Imageshack.us and then link it in your sig.

I strongly agree with this post and suggestion. Allowing those to be posted would allow match-ups and what not to go much smoother and you can meet new people in game.

However, I don't know how difficult this would be to implement?

I also wanted to mention what the profile looks like for each member (this is my profile)
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/member.php?u=79966

Below is what I would fill in (User CP) ...

I also can't see why it would be hard (at least for the Wii numbers, PNP(PS3 ID)). You could just make a similar area below location that says "Wii #:"(same for PNP). The Gamertags you could just create a tab(like the menu) with two images. This is what their profile looks like... (Note below is the pages source from underneith the afatar in everypost.)

the gamertag*note*You could use a 3rd party one too, I think (livecard...etc)
http://gamercard.xbox.com/Fox318.card

I personally like this one better because it can show your Countyrs Flag, when you were on last, and if you are on what were you playing..(below)
http://card.mygamercard.net/Fox318.html
and the friend invite

(Which would be linked to here...(Clicking here would add me on your friends list on your 360 and Xbox.com:)
http://live.xbox.com/en-US/profile/FriendsMgmt.aspx?gt=Fox318&act=Add
For the Xfire Tab you just would have the small Xfire profile...

with the text
Add to Xfire Friends List
That would be linked to
xfire:add_friend?user=Fox318

I suppose you could also create a tab for the Wii numbers or just have a tab that would open up to all of this(DS codes would work well for this)

Anyway I saw this feature on their fourms and I thought it was AWESOME. And I think it would benefit this smash community.

Think how many connection threads that would become null and void with this feature. The game threads in the Light house and the Cafe are pretty much empty.

Furthermore.... this idea goes back to one of my old ideas posted in this very thread;) ...
Some time ago I found a sprite sheet of emoticons that had every ssbm characters, and some Items. Now I was wondering two things.
  • A. Can we upload these to the smiles data base
  • B. Some one once posted this
I thought that these emoticons would be a good way of saying this
You could do a similar situation with these emoticons like what you did with the BRoomers. Where there is a logo right below the users avatar. For example when your mouse is over the Grinmmer you see this I thought that you could do the same thing with mains so it would be like this when your mouse hovers over it There could be a thing like how the avatar selection is made where we just click and save so that in the future if we decided to change mains we could do it just as easily as changing our avatar.

I can help with the images since they need to be cut out if any one is willing to do this. I just though this would be a fun small add-on that could possibly be used in the future as well.
here is a link to the Smilies

If we decide to do this I only think it is fair to ask the creator first for permission.
Also I hope that this post does not seem demanding, it is a suggestion and nothing more.
This could be useful in the future because it would eliminate all of the character threads. (Though this example is with sprites it would be a little more useful with text)

I just think that the area below the avatar is unused now. We used to have Messenger names(AIM,MSN) and now that rep is gone all you have is your Location, "custom name (Smash n00b)", and a broomer icon(for the few).

Once Again, I think the fourms could benifit with this feature alot.

EDIT:And the source for this page fould also have to be edited to match SWF's colors.

EDIT#2: Once again, I have no clue how hard this would be to implement.

F8X, I appreciate all the work you did to put that post together, but the truth is that implementing a couple of new postbit fields is pretty easy if you know how to use vBulletin, as the options are right there already. I tried to do it, but I couldn't figure it out. But Gideon or Kirby King should be able to set it up fairly easily.
