Smashboards makeover when Brawl launches?

i think it would be nice to switch up the color theme a bit, mocking the new game menus could give smashboards a really slick new look. I'm liking your new icons IA, but yeah, the box for calendar just doesn't fit.

I bet I could come up with a couple of things...but I also realized a flaw in these plans.

There's still plenty of time before Brawl launches, and that means plenty more graphics for the Dojo. I say tinker around with a couple of ideas now, and make the final decisions later when we have all the graphics.

As for the calendar...the bumper, maybe? Gotta love a shiny blue and gold version of the Smash symbol.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Well, it's not exactly a flaw in the plan, but there might be more iconic items and maybe even characters to be shown as time passes.

Haha, and yeah, the bumper is nice.

If you like this skin, I am sure that you will be able to keep using it. I think that a new one (not now, once Brawl gets released) would be pretty spiffy. In particular, the black background is kinda hard on my eyes. I want a lighter skin for those of us who prefer it.

I like the box because it has an exclamation point, like, something new, news, calendar, but hey, if you guys don't like it, I'll tinker around with other stuff.

I doubt SWF will get a SERIOUS makeover until the next Smash is announced. If one isn't then...I just don't know. Personally I hope they don't change the skins. The other one's look like poo, this one just looks cool.

I wouldn't mind some minor changes, like Giga Bowser replacing Bowser, but I think the skins should stay the same. I like the black.


*On a side note* What is taking so long for us to get new avatars? We had the contest like 4 or 5 months ago and still nothing. I'm curious to see if any of mine were good enough to make the cut.

Snake's Box should stay, it totally rocks! also, for a member list icon, I was thinking an Assist trophy; because you have access to a lot of people with it :D

I'm sure that SWF will get a makeover in one way or another. a lighter theme would be alright, as long as it's not TOO light. it hurts my eyes if it's too light. really, all I think would be needed is a new set of menu icons... and avatars... WHERE THE HECK ARE SOME NEW AVATARS!!??!

The default skin should not be changed, but to have one of the alternate skins be more light themed like the Dojo would be acceptable. Those who want to change, can. Those who don't, don't have too.

If we get a new theme, it should definitely be lighter colored. White and silver perhaps?
Also, if the theme were to be white and silver, then Bowser should definitely (<--- lol, fun word) be replaced by Pit as our "character logo".

Probably won't happen for a long time, if it even does.
We should at least get some new Brawl images in the near future, however.

Sorry, it's not very good. The size makes the whole thing awkward, and the edges are a bit jaggy in places. And you see the bottom? How it's just a flat line? And doesn't blend with the letters? It should.

Don't feel intimidated, I made icons for IGN boards (Which is much stricter than SWF) for like 5 years. I was where you are now once

Few specific feedbacks, some like the idea of Gigaboozer. Most comments have been praising the idea, not necessarily the execution.

Some general compliments.

Some love the box, some think it doesn't fit with the Calendar button, but no good suggestions have been made for a replacement (Bumper? Two Smash symbols in a row? Yeah right)

No specific comments.

One person said it was clever, someone again suggested the Assist Trophy. I made an Assist Trophy one back a few pages and it was boring.

One generally negative comment, not very specific. Dunno what's wrong with someone who looks mad



Regarding the color swap: I want to hear from one of these coder administrators, saying they like the new images, before I dabble in trying to create my own color scheme. I am digging the idea of a light grey scheme with a blue stripe at the top like the dojo.

I like everything invisible except I think the new Contact box should probably be the new Smash symbol. Since your techinically talking to people you connected with because of Smash.

In terms of feedback, Invisible Agent, I can easily say I like all of the icons you've done.

I'm not the biggest Bowser fan, but I'm not against him, either, so he makes a great Smash Boards logo, especially since it ties in to our current logo.
The Smash Ball is great—definitely a keeper, methinks. Smash Logo + bright colors ftw.
Snake's box is a shoe-in. Not a shoe-box, but a shoe-in. =P
The Super Spicy Curry particularly makes me laugh, since it's such an obscure item by itself. =P
Mr. Rosetti looks awesome in miniaturized form, particularly with his pick-axe.

The primid is probably my least favorite of the icons simply because it has to be shrunk down so much that it's hard to recognize him in the middle of his purple goop, but it's still well done. I don't particularly like the Assist Trophy, either ... it's too clear and comes across looking awkward.

I'd love to see the new bumper reappear since that ties it back to SSB64, but I think the Gooey Bomb is worth a shot, too.
