Smashboards makeover when Brawl launches?

this is the only good skin on smashboards

really? I hate that skin...

right now, User PC (Smash Ball), Calender (Snake's Box), and Premium (Super Spicy Curry), are the best ones, I think. I don't like the Primid one, it looks weird shrunk down like that. Mr. Resetti is cool, but if it was changed I wouldn't mind.

Maybe the site should stay black by default, but have a white skin. The thing is though, I'm too lazy to change skins regardless of which would look better. Desktop wallpapers and display pictures are about the only things I ever customize.

But the graphics should almost surely change regardless.

I like everything invisible except I think the new Contact box should probably be the new Smash symbol. Since your techinically talking to people you connected with because of Smash.

I think it has something to do with that he's the most intimidating character... Maybe once we see Master Hand, I'll make one of him/it.

Yeah, while I like the idea behind the Primid, and the design of the Primid itself, I'm not a big fan of how you chose a capture of him being in mid formation like that. (purple cloud forming around him.) However, you probably did it to give it some contrast from the background of the box, and because he'd look too small.

Zooming in on a facial shot of it might be an O.K. alternative, as that would take up a bit more space. Or possibly have an army of them, (i.e. one in the foreground and a few following further behind.) I guess it's tricky working with such a lean character.

Here's a recap, now with summaries of feedback:

Few specific feedbacks, some like the idea of Gigaboozer. Most comments have been praising the idea, not necessarily the execution.

Some general compliments.

Some love the box, some think it doesn't fit with the Calendar button, but no good suggestions have been made for a replacement (Bumper? Two Smash symbols in a row? Yeah right)

No specific comments.

One person said it was clever, someone again suggested the Assist Trophy. I made an Assist Trophy one back a few pages and it was boring.

One generally negative comment, not very specific. Dunno what's wrong with someone who looks mad



Regarding the color swap: I want to hear from one of these coder administrators, saying they like the new images, before I dabble in trying to create my own color scheme. I am digging the idea of a light grey scheme with a blue stripe at the top like the dojo.

I still don't get why the premium image isn't the super mushroom. I mean, that is the premium icon, afterall! Also, one of the buttons should have the bumper involved (user cp perhaps? ;o).

What is up with the infatuation with the bumper? It's not a particularly awesome item, it's just a thing that goes kaching when you hit it, and it bumps you! It's nothing special!

The Smash Ball, however, is like 100 times as worthy. Don't you know what it does?

And I'm trying to restrict the images to Brawl-only pics. That's why no Super Mushroom. Plus, the Curry is about 10 times as funny as the Mushroom for the Premium image any day. I mean, isn't it? Someone has stated that they get it, so I'm not crazy...

I think the last one happened at the Light House section. It occurred way back in like summer time. I posted a few, and the whole thread was like 7 or 8 pages long. I don't know why none of the ones submitted can be used yet though.

Haha I like 'em both. I like the idea behind the group photo, but the Subspace one just turned out so sweet.

Y'know what would be kind of cool? An image that changed at random every time you visited the site, but that would require extra programming and HTML and jazz to pull off. Um, an example of a site that did this: http://www.ocremix.org/ , a different classic or obscure video game icon in the top right corner. Or another example with much humor was this mess.be site that changed the image at the top: "Don't Mess With Jules! Mess With MSN Messenger!" or "Don't Mess With Darth Vader! Mess with MSN Messenger!"

But regardless, neato.
