DAY #4: RIVALS FOR KIRBY AND RATCHET & CLANK
One is a cosmos-crossing creature whose adorable appearance conceals terrifying power. The other is also that, but with a robot buddy. It's going to be hard to find characters who can match up to them, but nobody in Project NvP can stay unrivalled for long.
Today we'll be nominating characters who may serve as rivals to these long-standing icons. We're looking for a Nintendo character to rival Ratchet and Clank, and we're looking for a PlayStation character to rival Kirby.
HOW TO NOMINATE
Reply to this thread with up to two character nominations. Provide your nomination's name, game of origin, and who they're rivalling. Your nominations must be paired with Kirby, or Ratchet and Clank. You do not need to nominate rivals for both characters; you may choose to nominate two rivals for one character, or make just one nomination.
Third party nominations are allowed, However, from now on, If the third party does not have a representative in the roster yet, they are penalised three votes in the poll.
Nominations will stay open for a minimum of 23 hours.

Fox McCloud
Fox McCloud is main Protagonist of Star Fox Series and he is an Anthropomorphic Fox, who is the Leader of Team Star Fox living in planet Corneria of Lylat System. He is one of Nintendo Characters that he debuted in 1990's and his games revolutionized 3D Polygon graphics that changed Nintendo's whole history and it was considered as very popular IP in 90's and 2000's until it started going downfall after release of Star Fox Zero.
Fox could work like in Smash games like Ultimate, but his moveset would focus more on Star Fox Games like usage of mini Arwing as Up Special for example. Fox could also retain his moves, but some of them can be changed to fit him into more Star Fox-like moveset.
He retains his Final Smash, notably his Landmaster and he could retain his Aesthetics.
He could be Ratchet and Clank's Rival, because they are Fictional alien Animals that travel through Space or possibly Time and they fight evil Scientists that try to take over the universe. Their movesets revolve about Futuristic inventions like Blaster.
Plus, their games are Iconic Sci-Fiction games, who include Animal-like Protagonists.

The Prince is the main protagonist of the Katamari franchise, a series about rolling around a ball to gather up objects in order to make the biggest ball of stuff you can. I think he would be a fitting rival for Kirby because the series have similiarly colourful and simple artstyles, and despite being a Namco character, the series originated on Playstation, and many of it's games have been Playstation exclusives.

For Ratchet & Clank rival I nominate Samus
Samus is a classic Nintendo characters and she's back on the spotlight with Dread and Prime 4 coming in the future. She could be a good rivals for Ratchet because both are sci fi franchise with an emphasis on collecting new weapons and exploring different planets. I also think it would be funny to see how Samus react to Ratchet because Samus is often alone, while Ratchet is a duo.
For Kirby rival I nominate Kulche from Locoroco
A more weird choice but I think it made sense as a Kirby rivals. Both Locoroco and Kirby are 2d games with very colourful environments. They both also have an emphasize on eating, with Kirby eating enemies to gain their powers and Locorocos eating berries to grow bigger. Also they both have very simple deisgn and are pretty much just a cute balls.

My nomination for Ratchet's rival is Banjo & Kazooie
Bear and bird, meet Lombax and robot. Ratchet may have superior firepower, but Banjo and Kazooie have much stronger team synergy. Which tag team will prove to be superior? Will it come down to whose sidekick has the wittiest quips?

For no other reason than I think it would be funny to put the brightest, friendliest Nintendo character up against one of PlayStation's darkest, least fantastical characters.

Rival for Kirby: Knack (Knack)
Knack is a small creature created from ancient artifacts but can grow and get stronger by binding himself to other relics. I think his core concept is roughly similar to Kirby and would make a good foil to him, being a 3D platform mascot whose game is intentionally simple and accessible.

A letter who falls into the magical world of Tearaway, becoming sentient. Iota sets off on an adventure, using his paper powers to interneact with his setting and solve puzzles. A fellow character from a non violent platformer, Tearaway uses its artstyle to its advantage in gameplay, just as some Kirby games do. Atoi would be a skin.

HOW TO NOMINATE

Libertalia morph: Town Restoration (Animal Crossing)
An Animal Crossing villager walks out of one of the houses, with bedhead and in pajamas. When they realize the disrepair their town is in, they go around rapidly improving conditions. The broken down, realistic shacks become cartoony houses in a fine condition. They also cause two Animal Crossing trees to sprout, providing more footing. An animal crossing baloon might float by, acting like the ones on Smashville.

For Meridian my nomination is a Zelda breath of the wild invasion.
The reason is that both game where compared to each other becasue they where both post apocalyptic open world games released around the same time. The invasion would start slowly with a few Bokoblin being in the background. Eventually, things will get more serious with a guardian appearing and attacking the stages. He can destroy the gates and other stuff, which would change the stage layout. Calamity ganon can also be seen in the background, slowly taking the world of Horizon zero dawn under his control. When the stage starts to be too much destroy, a small guardian comes from a portal and everything return back to normal. Eventually the cycle of destruction restart if the fight is long enough.

As the Fossil Field theme mixes with the Cascade Kingdom theme, apes will warp into the stage and begin exploring. A couple of apes will occasionally wander onto the stage. Depending on the color of their pants, they may pick up and use items, throw homing missiles, strike fighters with karate chops, or many other effects. As the battle reaches its climax, Spencer in Goliath armor will wake up and battle the T-Rex.

I'm a bit confused. Why are we voting for invasions? Every stage needs one, so the only vote neccecary is for the Uncharted stage. Unless not all stages have one?

I think the best way to do this would have been to open nomination for invasion in only 1 or 2 stages at a time. This way, we would have more nomination for a single stages and voting would have make more sense. I'm stil going to vote normally but for the future I think it would be better to add an invasion on 1 or 2 stages.

Nintendo Character: Ayumi Tachibana (Famicom Detective Club)
Ayumi is one of the main characters of the Nintendo text adventure game series Famicom Detective Club and appeared as a major factor in the events of all games in the franchise. Making her debut in the 1988 release The Missing Heir, she gained importance as a character through releases, eventually becoming the face of her games. She's featured in different Nintendo games as cameos and two of her games got remakes in Nintendo Switch.
Ayumi starts as a fifteen-year-old who helped a murder case involving a friend of hers to be solved and later becomes an assistant in a detective agency. As a fighter, she can use a variety of daily objects as "evidence" and get stronger as the match progresses, reflecting her character development from a timid girl to a skillful young woman.
PlayStation Character: Sir Daniel Fortesque (MediEvil)
Sir Dan is the protagonist of the action-adventure series MediEvil debuted in the very first PlayStation. He's a knight undeservedly branded as a hero posthumously and now trying to actually earn his fame by stopping an evil mage from conquering his kingdom as a revived corpse. The game gained positive reactions from critics and fans alike due to its clever use of Halloween aesthetic and got not one but two "remakes" in PSP and PS4.
In this game, Sir Dan can use a variety of items he wilded in his own games and PSASBR. These include but are not limited to a sword and shield, axes, clubs, crossbows, and even his own arm if he's out of weapons. Some of his potential special moves are Chalice of Souls which capture the souls of his defeated enemies and a literal drumstick.

I feel like we should absolutely add plenty of characters who weren’t in smash and so my pick for that would be Mach Rider. He would fight on his motorbike and with weapons such as guns. I think he would be good because he’s a fairly obscure nintendo character but his moveset would be good and the grinch leak a while ago got people talking about him as a smash character so why not take advantage of that?

PaRappa feels like an inevitablity at this point. His series is a cult classic and regarded as one of the most popular PS1 games of all time and he would absolutely prove popular given the recent explosion in popularity for rhythm games

A much more Obscure choice. Dart is the main protagnist from PS1 JRPG Legend of Dragoon. Set in a high fantasy world known as Endiness. Dart was planned to be a DLC character for PlayStation All Stars before DLC plans for that game where canned. There have been roumors of a remake for some time now.

Takamaru (The Mysterious Murasame Castle)
Takamaru is main Protagonist of The Mysterious Murasame Castle on Famicom, back in 1986. He is a Samurai, who travels to Murasame Castle to defeat an Alien named Murasame that takes over the Castle. Takamaru needs to defeat it by defeating random enemies like Tengus or Ninjas.
Takamaru is one of lesser known Nintendo Character that is known by fans due to being revealed as Assist Trophy Character in SSB4 and Ultimate.
Takamaru's moveset would reference his moves in Murasame Castle game and he could be Swordfighter and he could throw spinning knives or be invisible for while. He could have a Gimmick called Clashing and he could parry opponent's attack to counterback it to enemy.
Takamaru would be Middleweight Rushdown character with no additional movement options.
Playstation character:
Robbit (Jumping Flash)
Robbit is main Protagonist of Jumping Flash game on Playstation released in 1995 before 3D Platformers like Crash or Mario. Robbit is a Robotic Rabbit that searches lost pods scattered in the World by main Villain Baron Aloha. Robbit needs to explore each section of the Crater Planet to find the lost pods and retrieve them, before Baton Aloho would destroy the World.
Robbit could be WTF character that his reveal could be unexpected and his moveset could borrow from Jumping Flash games or even original Moves like he could kick or do a headbutt.
He won't gonna have a gimmick, but he could be the one of the Lightest characters in the Game and he could have "All-Around" playstyle with ability to Wall Jump.
I nominate them, because they are Historical reps that could fit into the game like Takamaru and Robbit for example. Maybe they are less known, but they could fight on Platform Fighter.
