I love everyone's submissions thus far! But...I would like to tell everyone to please try and submit a job prompt for a sponsor for the PBS Kids: Brawltime! Championship Circuit if you can! Me and Pop have done it so I encourage all of you to think outside the box for a sponsor job!

Also, submissions for characters will remain open until some point tonight or tomorrow! You can also submit scripts for the Meet the Fighters videos and even the PBS Kids: Brawltime! presentations so get submitting in those areas!

Updated Matthias' proposal, just wanted to specify that his potential gimmick should only be for isolated, single attacks that are spammed and not for combos; once he's trapped, he can't dodge no matter what, like everyone else. It just wouldn't be right if he simply broke out of a combo for free based on RNG, lol.

Thought of something for a sponsor prompt:

Submit a sponsor who owns another children's network.

IDK, this is a smaller way for a children's network to collab without needing their own full guest fighter I guess. Don't think this has been done before?

Can you provide examples of which companies would fit into this category? I mean, we do have the mini party-packs so I don’t think that’ll count.

I mean, you can do prompts based around companies that sell specific types of products like food, toys, etc. I hope that’s a start for some people.

Ah of course, sorry about that. (I'm not as good with the sponsor stuff, can ya tell? 🤣)

Mainly thinking of Nickelodeon (Nick Jr.), Warner Bros. (Cartoonito), and Disney (Disney Junior). In fact, make the prompt something like "Submit a sponsor who is another children's network," I think that wording conveys it better.

Ah I see but sadly I don’t think I can allow that prompt.

If it helps for anyone, you can submit a prompt in regards to things like…
  • Brands of a specific kind like food brands, toys, etc.
  • For PBS Kids history, a brand who has sponsored a PBS Kids show not represented by a fighter
  • Non-PBS Kids history, a brand with no esports history.
    I hope this helps anyone!

Ah, okay. Well, looks like there's more than enough food company sponsors, so here's a different but more basic one that I think can fit:

Submit an automotive brand sponsor! Basically, this is for brands that specialize in cars or other road vehicles in some way.

Kids like cars, right? Sure, they can't drive them but IDK... could be fun? This could also include stuff like mail delivery companies too, it's a bit broad, so there's a bit of room for the imagination.

Job Prompt for Sponsors:

Submit a brand based on a local amusement park business, such as Kennywood or Six Flags

I dunno, I tried to think of idea we haven't thought up of before, but here's one.

Alright, since I'm cared to do the honors.....

Job 469:

Well for this next character job, this one is going to be one that has a really exciting part to it. You are to submit a character from a PBS Kids show that either has minor representation or no representation at all to finally make it in as a fighter! Even though there may not be a lot left in that category, I still believe there's plenty of PBS Kids shows that sorely need big representation here in PBS Kids: Brawltime! If you thought that that was the "Really exciting part", you'd be wrong! The REAL really exciting part is that whoever wins this character job gets to have a big promotion given to them, such as a reboot of their show (given if it's initial run ended) or a new video game! Like with any other character job, it must be a character with a strong connection to the PBS brand/identity, and please explain the character, the show they are from, why they deserve to be in the roster and how they can fight/what they can bring. Be sure to give your all into this! Get submitting and use your imagination!

My submission (actually a resubmission):

Sagwa (Sagwa the Chinese Siamese Cat, 2001)

Interestingly, I have submitted her several times in the past, but that won't stop me from trying to get her in! I am a cat person and I feel that her show shows a lot of respect towards Chinese culture and there's barely any representation in Plat-Fighters for quadrupeds!

Her show takes place in China during the late Qing Dynasty, where she and her other cat friends and family learn lessons regarding family obligations and loyalty. What's interesting about the show is that it's cross-cultural, meaning its theme song is in both English and Chinese.

She deserves a spot in the roster for many reasons. One, there have historically been barely any platform fighting games to have cats as playable fighters, and I am a cat person myself. Two, her show in general, although short-lived, was very obscure and underrated. It fits into the category of obscure 2000's PBS Kids shows. Three, her show takes place in China, which is a country that is very well-known in the USA, with Chinese being one of the most spoken languages in the world. China's THAT recognizable, and the way it's represented in her show is treated with high respect. Those are just 3 examples of my reason she deserves a spot in the roster.

Sagwa would be a lightweight character with high mobility and jumping skills and can also run very fast (Cats can run at 30 mph after all). Most of her attacks would involve swiping her paws at others. One idea for a gimmick or special move I have is a "predatory mode", where she would enter a pose where she is about to pounce something, which is something real world cats tend to do sometimes. Another idea I have for her moves is that can call upon powerful Chinese spirits to fight alongside her. So overall, her moves would be a combination of real-world cat moves and summoning mighty Chinese spirits.

Not that AlteredBeast mentioned it, I think a reboot of her show would be sick, or she could have a video game since she never got any! (Apart from Flash games). I would LOVE to see a cat 3D platformer any day!
Lucita Sky, AJ Gadgets (Hero Elementary)

I believe we only have their city fountain as a stage? We need more! Since Benny and Sara are in as assists, why not just get the other two in? Let the whole gang be here!

Sure it's not one of the more popular modern PBS Kids shows, but it's an interesting one, it's kind of like a kiddie My Hero Academia.

You could mainly control Lucita and have AJ use gadgets for special attacks.

In terms of what big promotion they could get, why not a traditional turn-style RPG? I think that would make a lot of sense.
Elinor (Elinor Wonders Why)

I think only an item represents her series, being vegetable soup. Clearly, we need more than that!

She could make for a lot of agility based movement options, in terms of movement speed and attack speed. Wondering Why can make for an interesting gimmick idea.

For what she could get, either a second season for her show or a video game, like a puzzle-RPG!
My submission

Duck (WordWorld)

View attachment 389831

I'm surprised he hasn't been submitted in a long while. But, Duck is one of the main characters from the PBS Kids show WordWorld which ran from 2007 to 2011. The show also got reruns for a decade from

The show was about animal characters who are WordFriends who build things called WordThings out of letters as everything on their planet WordWorld is made up of letters spelling out what thing they are. By using synthetic phonics to solve their problems, they surely know how to teach kids how to build words and teach some great phonics skills which it focused on spelling, rhymes, etc. In other countries, WordWorld taught kids how to speak English. Funny enough, this show debuted the same day Super Why and WordGirl debuted on PBS Kids so...reveal trailer idea here? The show itself was based on the books and puzzles of the same name so there's that too.

Duck on the other hand is one of the main characters of the show and was voiced by Tyler Bunch who has had PBS Kids history working on Sesame Street and Between the Lions so there's that prior connection with his actor. Peter Linz was also on this show too which is awesome! In general, WordWorld is one of those "Why hasn't this show gotten any content in PBS Kids: Brawltime! yet?" PBS Kids shows since it's a show that defines PBS Kids's newer era or after what many consider the "Golden Era" which was from 1999-2006. WordWorld can complete the trifecta of PBS Kids shows that debuted in 2007 that taught reading skills and in general, represent the later 2000s for PBS Kids.

As for the product he is promoting, WordWorld is getting a new video game called...

WordWorld: Your Wonderful World of Words

Basically, this game will be similar to various social simulation and sandbox games like Animal Crossing, Minecraft, Stardew Valley, etc. You get to create a WordFriend who is an animal and go around WordWorld creating your own house, creating things by collecting letters, earning letters by doing tasks for the various WordWorld characters, etc. In fact, you can trade items and letters with other WordFriends who inhabit the world and such. There will be tons of events themed after other PBS Kids shows and cool crossover stuff. Plus, let's not forget, there will be some cool adventures you can go on too to get bigger and cooler items for your house. It's basically a baby's first sandbox and social simulation game. If you want your child to get a starter before getting into games like Animal Crossing or are just nostalgic, this is your game!

This game does in fact coincide with Duck's gimmick..

Word Builder and Letter Inventory

Duck will have a gimmick similar to Steve from Super Smash Bros Ultimate in terms of collecting items and such. Throughout the match, if you choose Duck, letters will spawn on the stage. Collect the letters and store them in your inventory. Some letters spawn more often than others. However, you can only hold about 12 letters at a time to make his gimmick not too broken. Then, when you have enough letters, you can build words to assist you like CAR for attacking, APPLE to recover some health, etc. We can determine what words can be a part of this gimmick but...there's lots of possibilities.

Overall, Duck would be such a fun addition and WordWorld is just a very iconic PBS Kids show. An overall solid pick that would make a great reveal at the PBS Kids: Brawltime! Championship Circuit as I along with other people are nostalgic for this show.

This is a pretty open round but PLEASE remember to submit the video game tie-in or reboot idea for your character as well! Also, don't forget to vote for the edutainment companies and do job prompt submissions for sponsors for Year 4 of the Championship Circuit! Keep up the good work and get submitting and voting!
Introducing... Matthias
View attachment 389833

Somewhat contrasting the submission PopCultureCorn PopCultureCorn made with a cat, comes the young mouse warrior from Redwall, which right now is only represented by one item. Based on the novels by Brian Jacques of the same name, this used to be an American Public Television distribution that many would find as quite notable on PBS Kids, being possibly the only show with no explicit educational content. As well, the show explores some darker themes (but isn't nearly as dark as the actual novels get). If you compare the PBS catalogue to Nintendo's offerings, you could very easily view this as a "Fire Emblem" type of series.

While some may say the real Smash has too many swordfighters, for Brawltime!... this choice would introduce the very first swordfighter to the game! His unique gimmick is derrived from the fact that he'd be one of the very few characters on the roster that actually knows how to fight, funny as that sounds... as a true warrior, Matthias learns more about the opponents' attacks by observing them... well, more like by getting hit by them. If he gets hit enough by the same attack, he will have a small chance of automatically dodging it! (As long as it's not part of a combo; This would ideally only be for single moves that are spammed over and over, as breaking out of combos for free based on RNG is too cheap) This chance grows higher the more he's hit by that same attack, so it would be smart to mix up your attack patterns against this legendary hero!

Aside from that, his main moveset could simply be inspired by the likes of Link & Marth (and clones/semi-clones) from the real Smash. I'd advise against having a counter-attack special move though, I think the auto-dodge chance is enough and the shield mechanic of the game is already a universal counter.

But wait, what about that special tie-in?

Season 4: Mariel of Redwall

Each season of the Redwall cartoon was an adaptation of a different book in the series. Season 1 was of the first Redwall, Season 2 was of Mattimeo, and Season 3 was of Martin the Warrior. If Matthias is chosen, this cartoon series will not only come back to the PBS Kids website for streaming, but it will also gain a revival in the form of a fourth season. Giving us the show's first central female protagonist, this season would be an adaptation of Mariel of Redwall (which, coincidentally, was the fourth published book of the series). There have already been Redwall games in the past, so I thought it would be more unique to specifically revive the cartoon this version of Matthias is from instead.

For Sagwa, her brother Dongwa is interested in Tai Chi and Kung Fu, perhaps it would be fun to include some of that in her moveset? Oh, and some cute tail swipes too of course; She is a calligrapher, after all.

Lucita and AJ... well, I think it'd be pretty fun if AJ was the main playable one instead, actually. I'm a bit biased though, since he's a pretty nice representation of autistic kids... but his variety of gadgets and his ability to project his thoughts is also a bit more unique to me. Either way though, the idea of a "work as a team" gimmick without actually having to swap between different characters is fun! This could probably explore the idea deeper than what I did with Nature Cat's light attacks.

I came up with a fun idea for a gimmick for Elinor. You know those moments that happen in the show occasionally where these big zoom-in shots happen? Perhaps those could be incorporated somehow... in something of an opposite to Nature Cat's big gimmick, Elinor leans heavier into studying the opponent. This is for finding weaknesses in them; once she's studied them enough, she gains access to the ability to strike harder with her charged light attacks when the opponent leaves themselves open after an attack, leading to a zoom-in shot of the "weak point" being struck and opening the door to new combos. Yup, it's a weird fusion of Mortal Kombat 11's Krushing Blow and Street Fighter V's Crush Counter systems! Being light and agile, this shouldn't be too broken, as her lights would be stuck at being kind of weak (even charged) without it.
Alright, it's time to close submissions for the fighters and for sponsor prompts! I thank all of you for your awesome submissions!

Before we begin, here are the results for our next edutainment comapny tie-in!

Now, onto our next two jobs.

Job 470:

Submit a stage job prompt for a stage to come with the fourth Learner's Pass Vol. 2 fighter. Create a job prompt that is specific but leaves room for creativity.

Job 471:

Well....another year has passed and now, it will soon be time for the fourth year of the PBS Kids: Brawltime! Championship Circuit! We will once again be having five companies sponsoring once more! Now, more companies (as expected) who have had history with sponsoring PBS Kids programming as well as companies with no history with the network are contacting the e-sports team behind the Competitive Circuit as well as the Brawltime! development team for content in the form of a Sponsorship Pack as we expected!

Submit up to two companies to sponsor the third year of the PBS Kids: Brawltime! Championship Circuit! One company must have had history with sponsoring PBS Kids programming and one company must have had no history at all with sponsoring PBS Kids programming.

As for the companies, submit a logo for each. Explain a bit about each company, why you think the company/companies would want to sponsor the Competitive Circuit and give content to PBS Kids: Brawltime! and what their Sponsorship Pack will entail whether it would be an item, stage reskin, Legacy Skin, etc.

For the company that has had history of sponsoring PBS Kids programming, add in which shows the company has sponsored as well.

The company you submit that has NO PBS Kids history must fall into one of the following categories submitted by me, Pop and Cyborg Sun.

  • A company that has had history in eSports in terms of sponsoring an event or something along those lines.
  • A company based on an amusement park business like Kennywood, Cedar Fair/Six Flags, etc.
  • A company that is an automotive brand or a company that deals with road vehicles in a way.
The top two companies from each category will get in so we will have a total of four sponsors once again!

Get submitting and voting and use your imagination!

1. Saguwa (I loved her show as a kid and we need more females. Throw in the fact she would be a quadrupedal fighter too! An archetype rarely covered in platform fighters!)
2. Matthias (I love the idea for his gimmick and can come off as a very shocking reveal for sure!)

All are great submissions for sure and I had fun reading everyone's idea!

Stage job prompt

Submit a stage based on an original location from PBS Kids: Brawltime! that is based on either a mode in the game or a video game seen in PBS Kids: Brawltime! character reveal trailers! You CANNOT submit anything based on the Story Mode.

We should add more original PBS Kids: Brawltime! stages based on other aspects of the game besides the Story Mode. The modes themselves can make cool stages alongside some of the fake video games in the reveal trailers like PBS Kids Party Panic in Curious George's reveal trailer, a stage based on Wombat Quest III, etc. Lots of cool things you can do here!

PBS Kids: Brawltime! Championship Circuit Year 4 Sponsors

Sponsor with PBS Kids History

IKEA

72HgKgZd_400x400.jpg

The store's name is pronounced ee-KEH-yah in Swedish but IKEA is a company well-known for their furniture as well as for their food court food. Starting in Sweden in 1943, this brand has grown by storm for over 80 years. With their iconic furniture, home accessories, home services, etc., they have been prepared to make high-quality products! In terms of PBS Kids history, they are a modern-day sponsor and I believe they still are a sponsor of PBS Kids shows. They have sponsored shows such as Arthur, Wild Kratts, Pinkalicious and Peterrific, and Molly of Denali. Overall, their history really shows that they are a proud sponsor of PBS Kids. As for PBS Kids: Brawltime!, they will simply provide lots of fun in-game content and some cool tie-in promotions (potentially gaming furniture based on PBS Kids characters and such?). By making a home a safer place such as putting furniture to your walls, IKEA has you covered!

We definitely need more modern-day PBS Kids sponsors so IKEA is the perfect choice with the brand being so iconic.

Content:

  • 1 stage reskin
  • 2 items (1 based on the furniture from there promoting their PBS Kids furniture line-up and 1 based on a food court food item)
  • 1 Legacy Skin

Sponsor with no PBS Kids history

Cedar Fair/Six Flags

3FAB90DB-F823-4BC9-AFDA-FFCD642AFEA0.jpeg

I got inspired by Pop's job prompt but an amusement park brand would be lots of fun. Last year in November of 2023, Six Flags and Cedar Fair merged. Both of these brands were rivals but are now combined to make one of the biggest amusement park empires out there!

Cedar Fair was founded in 1983 and is an amusement park company known for its amusement parks. You may know them for owning Dorney Park, Knott's Berry Farm, etc. In terms of licensed rides/attractions that Cedar Fair has had in their amusement parks, they did have Peanuts and Star Trek-themed amusement parks but both closed down. However, Cedar Fair does own a gaming facility as well so they do have eSports history in a way, and not really as they did not have any big events hosted in that venue. Their main park is Cedar Point in Ohio which is where their headquarters is. Six Flags, on the other hand, is older than it started in 1962 and is a theme park chain well known for thrill rides. Six Flags does have some PBS Kids and PBS Kids Sprout history in a way as some Six Flags theme parks had areas themed after Thomas and Friends and The Wiggles. But, Six Flags never sponsored any PBS Kids shows so they don't count. My dad works near one of the Six Flags theme parks as well which is cool! I have been to Six Flags Great Adventure which is in New Jersey. I'm not a huge thrill ride person but the theming and park could do with some revamping as I have not been there in almost a decade!

But, with this awesome sponsor in mind, there can be some cool stuff in the works. A potential PBS Kids-themed area with rides themed after PBS Kids shows, demos of PBS Kids: Brawltime! at the various theme parks owned by Six Flags and Cedar Fair, and a major tournament held at a big park of theirs, etc., there's LOTS of cool tie-in promotional things that can happen! We do not have any amusement park sponsors yet so they are the perfect choice!

Content:

  • 1 stage reskin based on the various theme parks Six Flags and Cedar Fair own
  • 3-4 items (1/2 based on rides/attractions from the parks or one to promote a PBS Kids themed-ride coming there and 1/2 items based on theme park food/other stuff there)
  • 2 Legacy Skins
It's going to be a bit bigger of a package as they are a huge company after all!

Vote time!

1. Elinor (sorry Sagwa, I like you and would've been third vote if I could, but Elinor's been a recent favorite of mine and I really want her!)
2. Matthias

Stage job prompt:

Submit a stage based on an original PBS Kids website! Note that this does not include sites/games based on other shows, this is for properties that are full-on "web-only" like EekoWorld.

Having Cheeko in the game is already a nice big bone thrown to a time when they had a bunch of unique websites that didn't connect to any show, but there is still so much to explore on this front. I get it's a bit confusing though and info is hard to find on sites like this, so here is a link to where you can find a bunch of these old websites as examples.

I'm not super-versed in the "Sponsor History" of PBS Kids, but here is a sponsor I know for sure has recent history:

McCormick

the spice must flow.png

This might look like a lot... but tonight... is taco night. ...Uh, sorry, that's sort of been burned into my brain, lol. I know, I said we already have a lot of food companies, but hey, why not? McCormick is primarily a spice brand, so that's still kind of unique. I know for sure they've been sponsoring Work It Out Wombats! and Rosie's Rules, making them a super modern sponsor choice. This pack features:

  • 2-3 Items (at least one should be a "non-spice" item they make, like food coloring)
  • 1 Stage Reskin
  • 2 Legacy Skins

Sponsor with no PBS Kids history

Palace Entertainment

I WAS originally going to submit just Kennywood itself, but since they are really only a small local amusement park business, I figured I'd submit their owner, Palace Entertainment!

Founded in 1998 as a subsidiary of Parques Reunidos, Palace Entertainment has been known for owning a lot of local amusement park businesses all across the United States, which include Castle Park and Boomers! in California, Miami Seaquarium, Noah's Ark Water Park, Idle Wild and Soak Zone, Dutch Wonderland, SandCastle Water Park, and yes, Kennywood. I do think they should make it in as a sponser because I kinda feel their parks could use that extra pizzazz from PBS Kids properties to bring more fun and wonder to their many existing parks.

In terms of what could come to their parks, have some PBS Kids themed lands filled with all kinds of rides and attractions and food themed to various PBS Kids shows. There can even be special events happening at the parks holding PBS Kids: Brawltime! tourneys what can even be a park-hopping service!

As far as content is concerned
-1 or 2 stages based on Palace Entertainment parks
-3-4 items
-3 legacy skins

Since anyone has yet to submit an automotive company as a sponser, here's one!

As a Japanese-founded car company founded in 1937, most people might know them for many state-of-the-art high quality vehicles, such as Camry, Corolla and the iconic Sienna.

Why should they get content? Well, they're just an iconic car company!

There can be a whole Sienna themed to PBS Kids properties painted onto it. That's one thing I can think of

Content:
-1 stage
-a few items
-2 legacy skins

I'll probably submit a sponsor later, but in the meantime, Ikea would be a nice sponsor :)
You two can submit sponsors with PBS Kids history as well. I encourage everyone to submit the 2 sponsors for sure.

I know the “side dishes” jobs and content aren’t everyone’s thing but I guess I’m in the minority of people who LOVE the e-Sports side of Brawltime!

OK I did a quick Google search to see if they have any PBS Kids history and all I could find was a small parody of them from Between the Lions so I think I'm in the clear with my second submission:

FedEx
Fedex.png

Speeeeeedy delivery! This was the brand that sorta helped me in choosing the "vague automotive theme" for my prompt submission, remember they don't explicitly have to be car manufacturers! I realized having a mail carrier sponsor could lead to a Mr. McFeely Legacy Skin for Mister Rogers. That's literally my only logic here lol.

  • 1 Stage Reskin
  • 2 Items
  • 4 Mail Carrier career-themed Legacy Skins (One of them HAS to be Rogers cosplaying Mr. McFeely!)
Also, looks like Sagwa's got this in the bag, lol. I actually already made an icon for her before I decided to focus on making one for every member of the actual Brawltime cast, I'll share once the results are finalized.

Job 475:

It's time once again for our second Super Sponsor for PBS Kids: Brawltime!
Basically, the company that decides to sponsor will have a big, meaty Sponsorship Pack with tons more goodies than a typical Sponsorship Pack. Alongside this, the company will be producing a line of products related to the PBS Kids IPs and potentially other IPs in PBS Kids: Brawltime! for some promotion that will last beyond PBS Kids: Brawltime's lifespan! This company will also be the big name for the Championship Circuit sponsors and the circuit itself! You CANNOT submit JumpStart Games again as we already did them.

For this job, you must:

  • Submit a photo of the company. The company can have PBS Kids history or no PBS Kids history. Any company is allowed.
  • Describe the product that the company will be making in relation to PBS Kids: Brawltime! and the PBS Kids IPs
  • Why the company should be selected and what they would offer
  • The content for the Sponsorship Pack...basically, this will have a higher count of content and throw in one/two big extra goodies.
With that being said, get submitting and use your imagination!

The Foolish Magistrate's Palace

Ok so...there's not TOO many locations I found for this show but I thought I would just do where Saguwa lives. It's basically a huge stage where you fight in the gardens and such and get to break the roofs and architecture. But...don't worry, the architecture will rebuild itself in a few seconds once you break it. Various characters from the show appear including the magistrate's family. However, sometimes, those nasty alley cats will appear so watch out! They'll come and try and tease you by reversing your controls! But, if you simply throw an item at them, they will simply run away and you will be rewarded with a stat buff courtesy of the magistrate!

Assist Job Prompt

Submit an assist based on a character or thing seen exclusively on a PBS Kids webpage that does not tie into any PBS Kids show, similar to EekoWorld.

Item Job Prompt

Submit an item based on a character or thing seen exclusively on a PBS Kids webpage that does not tie into any PBS Kids show. similar to EekoWorld.

They are now folded under Tomy but...I am sure with anything possible these days, the brand name will come back in this universe. To be fair, I am certain most of you recognize this toy company by the logo. They have had quite some PBS Kids history sponsorsing Bob the Builder and Thomas and Friends. They have been the makers of Thomas and Friends toys from 1992 to 2012-ish. In fact, they made Take-Along lines of Thomas and Friends, Bob the Builder and Sesame Street. There was even a Nick Jr. Take-Along line but that didn't last too long. Heck, they even made toys for Super Why and Dinosaur Train which Dinosaur Train is surprisingly not yet represented in PBS Kids: Brawltime! Take-Along lines were toy lines based around vehicles and playsets that you could bring anywhere with you and the magnets on the toy vehicles could be connected either way. Speaking of Take-Along....the big thing they are making is...

PBS Kids Take-Along!!!!

That's right! The Take-Along name is back and better than ever! This time, you will see various PBS Kids characters in vehicles seen across PBS Kids shows and even some obscurer ones in PBS Kids IDs, interstitials, etc. coming as toys. There will also be original concepts for shows with not too many vehicles potentially. There will also be playsets based on locations seen in PBS Kids shows as well as original concepts. You can also expect Deluxe Play Scenes similar to the Thomas Take-Along ones based on cool action scenes from PBS Kids shows with vehicles as well as a DVD with a QR code you can scan to emulate the promotional DVD feel. I don't think it would be feasible to make physical promotional DVDs but hey...even if the disc could be held and taken out of the package..it still counts.

There would also be the return of certain toys from the former Take-Along lines of PBS Kids shows like Thomas and Friends, Bob the Builder and Sesame Street but we could always double dip and give them new models here. Super Why and its toys can be re-released too and if this show ever joins eventually...Dinosaur Train will get its toys as well re-released. Also, other older Learning Curve toys like the Thomas Wooden Railway toys and such will be re-released with some new names too for the brand depending on the popularity of the re-launch!

Basically, we can do a side job for this to determine the vehicles, playsets, etc. if this gets chosen but they will offer a heavy sum to the prize pool and really bring back a lot of toy nostalgia.

Super Sponsorship Pack Content for Learning Curve:

  • 2 Legacy Skins
  • 4 items (2 based on original Learning Curve toys or licensed toys from PBS Kids shows and 2 based on toys from the PBS Kids Take-Along line)
  • 2 stage reskins
  • 1 original stage based on an original PBS Kids Take-Along playset
  • A tie-in episode to a certain PBS Kids show that is VERY tied into this brand promoting the PBS Kids Take-Along range!
Since this is a big promotion, we might as well add an original stage based on an original PBS Kids Take-Along playset for that product placement! For ever bigger product placement, my tie-in episode is going to be...useful, so to speak ;) Sweet nostalgia, here we come!

The funny thing is, this would be our second educational-based toy brand with content in PBS Kids: Brawltime! with the first being Melissa and Doug but BOTH are going to be added around the same time-ish.

I don't really have ideas for the other prompts for now, a bit burned out after making a lot of submissions the past few days, lol. I'm glad my prompt to show off more of PBS Kids' websites inspired you, however, AlteredBeast AlteredBeast !

The Cave of the Ancients
Screenshot 2024-05-27 221952.png

In the show's 3rd episode, Sagwa and her siblings, Sheegwa and Dongwa all accidently wander into a cave (that perhaps their Uncle Meow mentioned to them at one point) full of clay statues all presumably depicting the past warriors who guarded the China palace thousands of years ago, along with their guard cats. Also in the cave, they even find a statue of the old Chinese Emperor who ruled 2000 years ago!

Layout-wise, it can be like Shadow Moses Island, assuming we don't have a stage in-game yet that has a layout similar to it. The clay statues can serve as the platforms and there can be two giant stalagmites that can be broken after enough hits, but they'll grow back overtime. (Funny enough, I did consider making two clay statues the breakable pillars at one point, but I figured it would be a very disrespectful thing to do, lol)

Pepperidge Farm

And yet, another food company that don't seem to have any history with PBS Kids in the past! (Or did they?) They are most known for making pre-packaged food products mainly being grain or flour or yeast foods, such as bread, crackers, pastries, and their ever-iconic cookies. They are also the makers of the famous GoldFish Crackers, yep, the snack that's known to smile back, they're made by them.

As for what they can make for PBS Kids: Brawltime!?........

Snack Attack Smackdown! You decide the best of the best of their products!

EITHER during a limited in-game event or during the Championship Circuit itself, 16-32 different Pepperidge Farm products can all go toe-to-toe in a traditional tournament, elimination-style, to decide which is the snack to rule em' all. Fans can have the opportunity to bet or place their votes on their favorite Pepperidge Farm products, with each product representing a different player (if in Championship Circuit) or certain fighters or teams of fighters (If via limited in-game tourney event), and the winner gets to advance that Pepperidge Farm product forward in the tourney! The winning Pepperidge Farm product gets to have several big prizes, such as having the fans decide them a new flavor, featuring that product in certain special things, among other grand stuff!

Super Sponsorship Pack Content for Learning Curve:

  • 2-3 Legacy Skins
  • 4-5 items (All based on Pepperidge Farm's delicious products!)
  • 2 stage reskins
  • 1 original stage based on Pepperidge Farm products, heck, maybe even one themed to GoldFish Crackers, since their world has some rich lore behind it
  • A full range of Pepperidge Farm products all themed to various PBS Kids characters, examples can include Splash and Bubbles GoldFish Crackers, Sagwa's Calligraphy Turnovers, and Cookies shaped like PBS Kids characters!
  • A tie-in short featuring a crossover between the PBS Kids: Brawltime! roster with the animated characters from the GoldFish Crackers commercials and shorts, which feature Gilbert (The Pretzel GoldFish Cracker), Brooke (The Parmesan GoldFish Cracker), Xtreme (The Flavor-Blasted Cheddar GoldFish Cracker), and Finn (the main Cheddar GoldFish Cracker)

Hey everyone,

I will leave open this wave of jobs until tomorrow hopefully. So..that means for PopCultureCorn PopCultureCorn , you can submit a stage prompt and a sponsor with PBS Kids history for the Championship Circuit.

IkeaInklingMustHappen IkeaInklingMustHappen , you can submit a stage prompt, assist prompt, item prompt, your two sponsors, and your Super Sponsor for the Championship Circuit

CoolCarrot23 CoolCarrot23 , you can submit a stage prompt, assist prompt, item prompt, a sponsor with PBS Kids history and your Super Sponsor for the Championship Circuit

Cyborg Sun Cyborg Sun , you can submit an assist prompt, item prompt and your Super Sponsor for the Championship Circuit.

Now...a big Discussion Question to tide us over:

Discussion Question:

I have been hinting at this for a LONG while but...after we complete the 36 fighters, would anyone be interested in doing content for a PBS Kids: Brawltime! Definitive Edition? If so, what type of new in-game content should we add? Should we add additional fighters, stages, etc.? Any sort of promotion for it? This is YOUR time to talk about what you want to see for this BIG final addition for PBS Kids: Brawltime! being a neat Definitive Edition like a good chunk of fighting games have gotten over the years!

With that said, get discussing!

I'll share my ideas later as I have a good picture of what I want for this Definitive Edition but I have other stuff to do, just wanted to get this discussion question out there!

Honestly, I think I like the other submissions as-is, I've got nothing to add for now.

I would love to have a period of time where we make "Definitive Edition" content. It'd give me just a bit more time to figure out what I want to do with a successor to this thread (since I still have those aspirations and a lot of ideas). In a crazy scenario, I would love a whopping 4 new characters to be added (I like the roster being divisible by 4 and 40 is a great round number lol), but that might be a bit much and you probably don't want to do that lmao. Though in terms of modes, that "Network Domination" mode I proposed would be a great final addition if nothing else.

Hopefully we have a discussion for where people want to take a hypothetical sequel someday. Like I said, I've got lots of ideas (some of which I shared in the site's status with you), but I wanna see what other people would think. It's still probably too early for that right now though.

For my opinions on the Definitive Edition:

I would love to have a definitive edition of PBS Kids: Brawltime! as it would be a nice way to wrap up the game.

In terms of new fighters, I do feel Cyborg Sub hit an idea I want to do. The possibility of adding 4 new fighters to round the roster to 40.

For the four fighters, I am considering:

  • One "guest" character based on other kids' media (if that does not become a guest character category) to promote a fictitious upcoming PBS Kids show or special based on a famous kids IP (book or movie)
  • One fan-favorite character who missed the boat
  • One second rep from an already represented series
  • One finale rep (don't know how we would do this)
We can determine the types of characters we want but, I would also like new homestages for the new fighters and some extra stages. There would be some new assists, items, etc. I do agree that the Network Domination mode Cyborg posed would be PERFECT for a definitive edition. Also, I was thinking of adding one BIG final Story Mode chapter as well as a potential "Thank You" or "Definitive" themed Legacy Skin for all 36 or 40 fighters could really work too.

We can also determine the goodies that come with the game's package in a Collector's Edition but...my idea for all the goodies is going to be REALLY for the VIP (Very Important Player).

Here's what I would do for a lineup of "Final Four" fighters personally, in this exact reveal/thread content creation order:

  • One second/third rep for an already-represented series. (a few series have two reps, so there is a chance one of those here would get a third!)
  • One villain character OR one misc. popular pick who missed out, regardless of assist status. (they are rare in the PBS Kids multiverse, but Hacker is the only true "villain" on the roster... if this theme is used for one of the Season 2 DLC characters, the "popular pick" choice could be used instead)
  • One "Shill Pick" for a very recent series, essentially anything from 2020-present. (oh look Cyborg is looking for any excuse to put Carl into the game even though the series isn't out yet woooooo... but there are others like Lyla in the Loop that fit here too)
  • One "What If?" pick, an idea similar to the "misc kids' media" pick, imagining a scenario where we give a beloved kids' book its own PBS Kids series or even just a special movie in this universe we've created, and this fighter would promote that.

Ok.....

So in terms of the definitive edition, well, I do like the idea of the roster of fighters being rounded up to 40, but I'm not sure if anyone really said that it would actually happen, so whether or not it'll actually happen is kind of up in the air right now. I must say, I did kinda state multiple times that I wanted this thread to be over with ASAP so that I could finally move on with my life, so when the time actually comes to actually add the definitive content, I'm still deciding if I really want to stay around for that, OR I just go with my original plan and consider my work on this thread complete one we reach the 7th fighter of the Learner's Pass Vol. 2. I mean, whenever I'm away from this thread, perhaps Cyborg can be left in charge of it?

What I would like to see for the 4 Definitive Edition fighters......

  • A character from a popular children's book series, as in, multiple books in a series. (Or maybe from just one book is ok, I don't care)
  • A character whom got submitted multiple times in the past but never got the chance
  • A villain, we need more of these, Multiversus added the Joker when they relaunched
  • EITHER a second rep from a guest fighter series or a new VERY SPECIAL guest series to get a fighter

Cedar Fair/Six Flags

View attachment 389867

1. Elinor
2. Sagwa (Self-vote, but I do really like her show and it's pretty obscure)

1. Sagwa
2. Duck

Sponsor with no PBS Kids history

Toyota

Since anyone has yet to submit an automotive company as a sponser, here's one!

As a Japanese-founded car company founded in 1937, most people might know them for many state-of-the-art high quality vehicles, such as Camry, Corolla and the iconic Sienna.

Why should they get content? Well, they're just an iconic car company!

There can be a whole Sienna themed to PBS Kids properties painted onto it. That's one thing I can think of

Content:
-1 stage
-a few items
-2 legacy skins
OK I did a quick Google search to see if they have any PBS Kids history and all I could find was a small parody of them from Between the Lions so I think I'm in the clear with my second submission:

FedEx
View attachment 389909

Alright, sorry about the LONG wait as real-life stuff once again got in the way but...this thread is still alive. Me and Cyborg Sun's stage prompts will be used and I do have another stage prompt in mind for the fourth stage. Also, for assist and item prompts, the ones me and Pop submitted will be used so yay to us!

As for the sponsors, IKEA and McCormick will be the two sponsors for this year's Championship Circuit for our two sponsors with PBS Kids history so congrats to me and Cyborg Sun Cyborg Sun for our submissions! Now, we have a lot to vote on in terms of sponsors. As for the two sponsors with no PBS Kids history, I feel we will do one for the two companies based on theme parks and the two based on automotive/road vehicle brands and such. We also will vote on the Super Sponsor and the home stage so please vote in the Strawpolls below! I decided to leave out who submitted what as to make it less of a biased vote and to make it more relaxed this time around.

I really hope in the future, we get more Super Sponsors and all that as we will do about two more years for the Championship Circuit if that is cool! Also, thanks to everyone who discussed the Definitive Edition! I feel there will be one but...we will decided on character criteria and talk more about the other new content coming with it VERY soon.

Now, onto the other stage jobs and the moveset!

Job 476:

Submit a stage based on an original location from PBS Kids: Brawltime! that is based on either a mode in the game or a video game seen in PBS Kids: Brawltime! character reveal trailers! You CANNOT submit anything based on the Story Mode.

Job 477:

Submit a stage based on an original PBS Kids website! Note that this does not include sites/games based on other shows, this is for properties that are full-on "web-only" like EekoWorld. Thanks to Cyborg Sun, here is a site to help you!

Job 478:

Since we are the topic of obscure PBS Kids shows, submit a stage based on a PBS Kids show that is NOT yet represented in PBS Kids: Brawltime! that had an initial run of 3 years or less!

Some examples of PBS Kids shows that are eligible include:

  • Toopy and Binoo
  • Wimzie's House (I don't know if this show counts since its initial run was in Canada)
  • Mama Mirabelle's Home Movies
  • Elliot Moose
  • Seven Little Monsters
  • Animalia
  • Make Way for Noddy/The Noddy Shop
As for all stages, describe the layout, hazards, and/or gimmicks.

Job 479:

Create a moveset for Saguwa. You can give her a gimmick based around Chinese spirits or a predatory mode-based gimmick. Also, be sure to give her one move that ties in to the product she is promoting whether it's a reboot of her show or a 3D platformer based on the original show.

Regardless, get submitting and use your imagination!

As seen in Curious George's reveal trailer, we have our first stage based on one of the fictitious video games seen in the PBS Kids: Brawltime! reveal trailers, PBS Kids: Brawltime! I can envision the layout being similar to the Wario Ware stage in the Smash games and the stage initally starting with the background being the stage from the Sound Stage from Super Mario Party. You duke it out in the various minigames seen in the trailer and some new ones thrown in briefly based on various quick PBS Kids website games. Also, you will notice in the background each fighter's points by completing a minigame. There aren't really any hazards besides the confetti cannons when you return back to the stage section when the winner is announced so don't stand too close to them or you will get damaged! The winner of the PBS Kids Party Panic will get a stat buff or a super strong item! Turn off hazards and...this stage could be potentially legal to be used in the competitive scene! It's quite the party in PBS Kids Party Panic!

Original PBS Kids Website Stage

Wilson and Ditch's American Road Trip (Wilson and Ditch: Digging America)

Picture-14.png

Ok so...I was initially stuck on what to do here but this show is a show I just remembered and it's web-exclusive so....it should count. Heck, this is one of the Jim Henson shows made for PBS Kids as well It got its website anyway and was web-exclusive but you are about to embark on a true American road trip with these two comical gophers. You will fight on their green-powered van as the two gophers provide fun commentary on all the major cities you will travel through. However, bad weather may occur like rain, snow, etc, and give you some damage and interrupt the fight so watch out! There will be some hazards from various areas like some crazy pigeons in the cities and even some debris flying in the air knocking you away but don't worry, Wilson and Ditch are here to keep spirits high!

PBS Kids Show Less Than 3 Years Stage

Toyland (The Noddy Shop/Make Way for Noddy)

make-way-for-noddy.{format}.jpeg

Another show I remember as a kid very well (mostly Make Way for Noddy) but you get a nice tour of Noddy's home of Toyland. It's a stage with walk-offs, no matter where you go and you can see Noddy, Big Ears, and all their friends. However, occasionally, Gobbo and Sly will appear and be up to no good and steal your moves so watch out! If you attack and catch them for their wrongdoings, Mr. Plod will reward you with a stat buff for a job well done!

As a surprise, if you hold the X button while selecting this stage...

maxresdefault.jpg

Toyland turns into how it appeared in the Noddy segments from The Noddy Shop.

Also, I envision various parts of the stage based on various levels from the Noddy video game, Noddy: A Day in Toyland and such.

Yeah, I remember owning that game for my GBA and...it was bad but the arrangement of the theme song was awesome.

As for the Saguwa moveset, I may come up with one, I'll just need time to do some research on her show as its been a LONG while since I avidly watched it.

Is it weird that my second moveset contribution also happens to be a cat? Hrm... oh well. Enjoy my submission (and see a stage submission below)! I've also introduced a new aspect, if you don't mind: The Nature Cat Version of the Neutral Special. As you might recall, Nature Cat's copy attacks are meant to be more flawed than the original neutral special. Introducing ones for every other character could make for fun side jobs, but I'll trial it here for now. Also remember that since it's his down special, he can also actually copy himself, unlike Kirby. But anyways, onto another cat...

Sagwa
Series: Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat
First Appearance: How Sagwa Got Her Colors (September 3, 2001)

Sagwa2.png

"For many generations, it has been our family's honor to write down the official scrolls of all the Magistrates of this province." ~Sagwa

This adorable calligrapher-in-training is ready to represent her province in Brawltime! Compared to certain other cat characters from PBS' vast catalogue, Sagwa's relatively down-to-earth, being one of the few quadruped characters on the roster for one. She is also smaller than average, making her harder to hit... which is quite advantageous, as she also doesn't hit as hard and is way easier to launch. But, she also has great mobility, running fast and jumping high! Fight with the honor and fast-paced grace of a feline, and you may just write out a victorious story with her...

Gimmick: Predatory Mode

Her Neutral Special puts Sagwa into a temporary "Predatory State" where she enters a pre-pounce pose (with a cute mischievous look on her face). From here, she can then perform three new light attacks depending on the next pressed direction. These can't be charged, however; They're meant to be quick moves to catch the opponent off guard! Also, while not part of the "gimmick," Down Special is a reference to a mechanic in a possible 3D platformer based on the show (for context, this was made to coincide with Sagwa's Brawltime! appearance in our made-up universe).

Light Neutral: Kung Fu Claw

As silly as her brother Dongwa's obsession with martial arts is, it seems Sagwa took a bit of inspiration from him! In this attack, she briefly stands on two legs and does a simple palm (or... paw?) strike forward. The charged version has her expose her claws and strike with more force for more damage, but will comically trip over afterwards adding a much weaker second hitbox. Fun fact, this move was also inspired by one of Kung Fu Man's specials in MUGEN.

Light Up: Calligrapher's Honor

Utilizing skills from her main profession, Sagwa turns around and performs several artful upward strikes with her tail! It's pretty fluffy, so it has a nice big hitbox... well, as big as it can be for someone of her size. The charged version is particularly beautiful; while charging, the animation will be of her dipping her tail in a small ink pot. Then, her strikes are even more precise, with a visible black ink trail in the air! She has quite the proud look on her face while performing this version of the attack.

Light Down: Cat & Mouse

One of the mice friends of Sagwa appears and playfully runs around her, dealing a weak amount of damage to anyone close to her on either side. The charged attack has the mouse running faster (dealing more damage) before getting dizzy, causing Sagwa to giggle at their antics. A good variety of mouse designs appear in this attack, but it's just aesthetic and doesn't affect the move's properties.

Neutral Special: Predatory Stance/Attacks

The part you've probably been waiting for! As mentioned before, Sagwa will enter a pose, as if she's about the pounce. From there, press any direction or the special button again for these fast-paced but weaker attacks, best for catching an opponent off-guard:

Neutral: A command grab pounce where she latches onto the opponent for a brief moment and swipes at them with her claws!

Up: She pounces upwards and shoots down a badminton shuttlecock with her tail! Yup, she has a little projectile now. If an opponent is really close, they can also be hit by her initial pounce for some fun combos.

Down: A pseudo-command grab where she runs forward. If an opponent is nearby during this run, she'll then run around them in circles. She's not invincible, but still harder to hit away. After a little while, if the opponent has failed to get her off them, they'll get dizzy!

Left/Right: She'll "pounce retreat" away in the direction you choose. This one is just a useful dodge option, but she's left wide open afterwards so don't carelessly dodge into the path of an opponent.

Up Special: Fu-Fu's Assistance

Sagwa's clumsy bat friend Fu-Fu appears and carries her upward! He's not the best flyer, so he'll do a goofy loop while he carries her, which might make recovery trickier. Crashing into a wall will end the move, but he can also crash into other opponents to deal damage!

Down Special: Wisdom of the Spirits

This is that move inspired by the 3D platformer that's introduced with Sagwa's Brawltime! appearance. This is a chargeable move where Sagwa will enter a zen pose... the more she charges, the more a dragon spirit will swirl around her. Ending the move at any time will unleash a burst of colorful flames, which of course is stronger and wider-reaching the more it's charged. At full charge, the explosion is unleashed immediately, so timing is key as well if you wish to land a devastating blow...

Nature Cat Copy:

Nature Cat is a lot more of a cartoonish anthro cat, and his "predatory abilities" are nowhere near ones from a more realistic cat like Sagwa. But still, he tries his best, entering a "scary pose" that probably looked more threatening in his head, before automatically "pouncing" forward while comically spinning in all directions... almost as if he tried to combine all of the separate commands into one. Of course, this just results in him crashing to the ground, but it can still hit opponents!

Entrance:

Sagwa confidently pounces onto the stage before bowing for a quick moment,

Taunt:

Sagwa catches in her mouth and quickly munches a piece of seafood that flies in from offscreen (most likely tossed to her by the friendly Chef).

Victory Animation:

Sagwa's parents & siblings, as well as the Foolish Magistrate and his family & servants, watch proudly as Sagwa writes out a declaration of victory on a scroll, then all happily pose together!

Losing Animation:

Sagwa briefly wipes away a tear in her eye, before bowing honorably and clapping for the winner.

OK, I just thought the idea of having a website that promotes "not falling for deceptive ads" in a game that promotes a bunch of DLC would be funny. Taking place on the website with dynamic platforms that change each match, advertisements for made-up Brawltime! DLC (I mean, really goofy fake stuff like "turn every character into D.W.!" or those that say obscure side characters are being made playable) will appear to "attack" the players with their false promises! Show off your Ad Smarts by avoiding them!

Inspired from this one SSF2 April Fools video and Trophy Tussle, This stage has you battle on top of the renders and artwork of the PBS Kids: Brawltime! fighters themselves in the sky! (#JusticeforTyRux, since it would be like battling on his canonical size, lol). The form of the stage can take is random and it will pick a random fighter to be the stage form. (Maybe with some button commands to select certain forms) and some of them can even take the shape of NPCs in-game, such as the Foolish Magistrate, Oscar the Grouch, any historical figure Xavier Riddle and co. have met, or even the Anomaly! (I know we're not really allowed to submit anything related to or based on the story mode for this, but I still think that would be cool) The only potential downside to this stage is the lack of grabbable ledges, making recovery on this stage a bit more perilous. Overall, it's just a silly stage that's there to be silly.

We can maybe do a vote for what is the best name for the acronym for the stage, probably for as long as it's not too ludicrous, like Peter's Burger Skydeck Kitchen Designed for Special-viewing, or whatever silly one you can come up with, I'd love to know, and hear!

Backyard Jungle

Just a random PBS Kids website I found about making fun experiences in their very own backyard, virtually and in the real world via creative instruction guides. Layout-wise, it can be like Kongo Falls, except crafted with things you can find in your house or your backyard, built over a backyard stream of water.

Now Cyborg Sun made an amazing moveset for Sagwa, but I figured and share some of my ideas for Sagwa's moveset that I had in mind, which was going to be a combination of natural cat instincts, her calligrapher status and connection with the Chinese spirits:

  • The side special was going to be a combination of Backslash, Wolf Flash, and Sandbag's side special from SSF2, where Sagwa does a traditional cat pounce by jumping a long distance and slashing with one paw, with in incredibly small sweet spot that deals far more damage and knockback, and can meteor in the air, making it a super-effective edgeguarding tool if timed correctly. It was inspired from the OwlKitty Smash Bros reveal trailer, one of the ending parts of the video, that is.
  • The Up Special was going to be a big cat leap (maybe about as high as King Dedede's up special and as long as Ike's side special), I mean, have you seen how far and long cats jump? I actually did have one in mind where Fu-Fu carried Sagwa like Duck Hunt, but I felt it wouldn't stand out too much from others. (No press to Cyborg's Sagwa up-special, I think it's pretty funny and cool)
  • Sagwa would be lightweight and pretty fast, cats can run at 30 mph after all.
  • One aeriel move I had in mind for her had Dongwa come out and do a kick.
  • The calligrapher move I had for her in mind was a combination of Cross Slash, Dancing Blade and Eiha. Like Cross Slash, it requires multiple presses of the special move button to use. Like Dancing Blade, you can tilt the analog stick in different directions to change the outcome of the final hit. Like Eiha, it inflicts status effects (poison in Eiha's case), which are different depending the input used.
  • Sagwa's taunt would have her stretch and then sleep like cats do, similar to Etalus' taunt in Rivals of Aether.
  • I actually wanted to incorporate Sheegwa into the moveset, but I couldn't figure it out!, lol

Alright, so, for the winners of the Sponsors, there was a tie for both the theme park and automotive brand sponsors. However, for the theme park sponsor, I will let Palace Entertainment be it as after all...Six Flags I feel is declining and I do feel that the Palace Entertainment brands could use some major promotion from this so congrats to PopCultureCorn PopCultureCorn for his awesome submission!

As for the automotive brand sponsor, I do not know who will be it as I love both ideas. Maybe I should let use discuss about.

Who do you think should be the fourth sponsor for the Championship Circuit? FedEx or Toyota? Be sure to add what you think with your submissions for the next few jobs!

Finally, for the Super Sponsor, Learning Curve won so yay to me for that fun submissiob! Time for another educational brand to become a super sponsor but this time...a toy brand beloved by many!

As for the homestage for Sagwa, it's a tie but I feel Pop's is WAY more unique so I'll let his stage submission join in so congrats to him again!

Finally, for the moveset, Cyborg Sun's moveset will be used for Sagwa and I think its perfect. Pop has amazing ideas too as well but I love the predatory mode gimmick Cyborg gave Sagwa.

Now, we must vote on the stages. I know my Noddy stage will get in by default as I was the only one who submitted for the PBS Kids show that initally ran less than 3 years stage job. But, we need to vote on the stages.

For the original PBS Kids: Brawltime! stage, I was initially going to reject Pop's idea as the stage was not really based on a mode or reveal trailer setting! BUT, it's zany enough and I guess could represent the Photo Album in the game in a way. We could potentially have 5 stages for Sagwa's update if possible so vote in the Strawpoll below if you want my stage idea, Pop's or both!

Sagwa Assist

Tung, the Singing Cricket

mqdefault.jpg

Ok, so I did get inspired by a profile post by Cyborg Sun with the clip of Tung singing and then the Magistrate saying he has the voice of 1,000 angels. But, he's here to bring his singing talent to the Brawltime Party! As an assist where he kind of functions as a joke assist, he will follow you around and hop along. Occasionally, he will sing his sour notes and therefore reverse the opponent's controls for a short amount of time. However, when the assist meter is full, he will REALLY sing with the voice of 1,000 angels and haunt the opponents like he did to Tai-Tai and REALLY cause the opponents to be haunted and confused. The opponents will have their controls reversed for longer and gain some damage. He really knows how to sing...just to annoy the fighters.

Website Exclusive Assist

The Great Static (Webonauts)

images.jpeg

I thought I would go for another obscure website PBS Kids property that taught kids about online etiquette and such, something today's generation needs to learn about! But, this former student of the Webonauts Internet Academy is up to no good but is here to assist. Simply put it, Maxmillion will throw Static Snackies at your opponents causing them to get static damage from him for a short time. Even then, he will occasionally give you static damage but not as much as your opponents get. He simply wants no good to anyone! However, when the assist meter is full, IT'S HAMMER TIME! He simply will attack your opponents with his great big hammer, the same one he was going to use to destroy the cookie machine and really knock away your opponents! I guess being a bad internet citizen really does damage your friends.

Ancient Chinese Invention Assist

Eagle (Space Racers)

0010_eagle-tout.jpg

I had trouble with this idea but it seems the Chinese gave way to rocketships as they did invent rockets. I feel this would count for the Ancient Chinese invention given they did invent rockets. This show did debut on PBS Kids before it moved to PBS Kids Sprout/Universal Kids so we need more vehicle assists honestly. Space Racers is also technically an American Public Television show and a more modern one at that so all the bonuses here for representing Space Racers. He's also voiced by Yuri Lowenthal so that's pretty cool as well. Basically, Eagle will fly and race around the stage on occasion occasionally ramping into opponents somewhat hard causing some damage. Given his cockiness, however, he will occasionally bump into you but not as hard. When the assist meter is full, he will realize that his cockiness got the best of him and will set things right by giving you the best help possible! He will help you recover, help you carry opponents off the stage into the upper blast zone, etc. He's a fun assist that really takes off and pays homage to the rocket!

As for the automotive sponsor...I would prefer FedEx over Toyota. I do feel Toyota DOES fit the Neon Gaming City theme a bit more due to Toyota being a Japanese brand. But, I have cooler promotional ideas for FedEx and the idea for mailman-themed Legacy Skins. Yes, I know Mr. Rogers already has one Sponsorship Pack Legacy Skin...but he needs one based on Mr. McFeely (and we need Buster as Fred from FredEx anyone for that Between the Lions reference) ;)

I would much prefer FedEx as the sponsor... I mean, okay, yeah I'm the one who submitted them so I'm biased lol. But, the potential for a McFeely Rogers skin aside, learning about mail carriers seems to be a pretty common thing in kids shows anyways, so I think they'd be pretty fitting. Anyways, vote time:

Sagwa's older brother could join as an assist, utilizing attacks that have a heavier Chinese Martial arts influence than what Sagwa's moveset uses. He's normally a "counterattack assist"; when summoned, he'll enter a defensive pose and do nothing until he's attacked, at which point he'll dodge and counter with a Kung Fu or Tai Chi strike! He's essentially a much longer-lasting take on Smash's counterattack specials. But if he isn't attacked at all, then he's kinda useless...

At full meter though, he won't wait for someone to attack him and instead unleash a flurry of strikes shortly after spawning, granting him a much different utility!

Representing Kart Kingdom, the now-defunct kart racer MMO thing PBS Kids used to have, comes their news reporter! Though she was more of a reporter than a racer, K drives in with her own kart in this assist anyways. When summoned, she'll drive around freely ramming anyone and anything in the way, including yourself (but you take reduced damage from it). It's pretty aimless so hope for the best... but when the meter is full, she'll actually lock on to an opponent and chase them down!

Although I really like the other submissions for this category, I dug as much as I could to find my own idea for one, and I stumbled across this crafter burglar guy who just happen to steal valuables from the Foolish Magistrate nightly, until Sagwa and co. managed to capture him! As an assist, he just tends to mind his own business, running all over the place, stealing valuables and ramming into anyone he runs into, he's so fast that it seems to look like he's teleporting all across the stage, and he fight even swipe an arm at anyone occasionally just for them to get out of his way. Full assist meter has him toss one of his stolen valuables at other fighters to stun them!

These two are your teammates from a Unity Web game hosted on PBSKids.org for 3 years known as Mission to Planet 429, and boy, information about this game is so scarce since it's so unknown! The game was meant to teach kids about the usage of the 6 simple machines. What they do as assists is that they'll use various simple machines to help out the fighter, like using pulleys to assist with recovering, levers to trigger ground attacks, wheels and axels to grant you more running speed, inclined planes to.......you figure that one out, wedges like Hero's Hatchet Man, and screws like combo starters. Full assist meter has them preform one stronger variation of their 6 simple machine moves!

Ancient earthquake detector

When I meant by "ancient Chinese inventions", I meant something along the lines of things like those, even if they're not really related to PBS Kids. Check out this innovative, but probably-at-times unreliable earthquake detector invented by Chang Heng in 132 AD. How it worked is when an earthquake happens, a cylinder inside the jar tilts towards the direction of the earthquake, causing one of the dragon heads to open its mouth, spitting out a ball into one of the frogs' mouths, signaling which direction the earthquake is coming. As an assist, it doesn't move, but at times, one of the dragon heads will drop a ball into a frog moth either left or right, only to trigger a very powerful ground shake in that particular direction 2-3 seconds later that is enough to KO even at moderate damage precents! Full assist meter removes the 2-3 second delay and a much more powerful ground shake is produced, which can KO even at low damage precents.

Ok, so regarding the name for the acronym to my PBS Kids: Brawltime! original stage, I might as well round up all the suggestions here, I'm pretty surprised we didn't get more, TBH:

Tung, the Singing Cricket

View attachment 390508

Eagle (Space Racers)

View attachment 390512

Sagwa Item

The Foolish Magistrate's Ruby

Screenshot 2024-06-04 at 9.35.55 AM.png

While Sagwa's show is very obscure, it was hard to find a good item. Thus, I got a bit inspired by Pop's Cat Burglar assist and decided to make the Foolish Magistrate's ruby an item. It will appear in the chest as it does and you must break it to open it. Once opened, you possess the ruby. When a fighter gains the ruby, it grants you great fortune by giving you an immense stat buff from the Magistrate's ancestors. However, any fighter can steal it like a cat burglar and possess great fortune. It can break as well thus causing your buff to suddenly disappear! Overall, it's a rare item and a super handy one but...you must be careful with fragile jewels.

Website Exclusive Item

Speak Out Speaker (Speak Out)

Screenshot 2024-06-04 at 9.47.51 AM.png

Ok, I don't know if this item would be too similar to Manny's Boombox item, and its from a PBS Kids website that has to do with speaking to the president and government about change which I feel will be very appropriate for this year's election...but this speaker won't speak out about politics. Basically, a fighter can find this speaker with the shows where then...a fighter can attack it causing to speak out quotes of said fighter who said it. The speaker will then have speech bubbles with that character's quote in it taking up stage space and such. It causes a good deal of knockback depending on how long the quote is. After a while, the speaker will turn off and disappear.

Historical Chinese Artifact Item

Terracotta Warriors

terracotta-army.jpg

I had to add this historical artifact given they are so iconic. Basically, they spawn in large quantities and they are there to protect you from danger. If a fighter were to simply pick it up and place it, the Terracotta army would be on their side and attack their opponents with them being warriors. However...if you were to attack them too hard...they will turn against you and think YOUR the enemy so don't be too harsh on them as they can pack a punch given they have a great deal of experience guarding and fighting as they were based on warriors from China's past!

Legacy Skin Prompt

Resubmitting...

Submit a Legacy Skin based around a character in PBS Kids: Brawltime! cosplaying as another character/thing from another PBS Kids series represented in PBS Kids: Brawltime!. Basically, a crossover cosplay skin.

I feel like we still need this to happen given that one Legacy Skin for Donkey (if that counts as a cosplay skin, more of a crossover Legacy Skin) was the only one that kind of fills that niche. We need more cosplay Legacy Skins, especially between the PBS Kids shows and not just for guest properties.

A delicious, yet pungent dish cooked by the chef for Sagwa's YeYe (Grandpa) and Sagwa herself using 100-year-old fermented tofu, Sagwa was really repulsed by it, but for how things went for YeYe, well, let's just say, he's easy like Sunday morning..............! As an item, it's treated as a food item, but it doesn't heal, instead it makes whoever consumed it have a green look on their faces, and they burp out a cloud of green, noxious gas by pressing the attack button. The stink cloud deals gradual damage and causes dizzyness if it lingers on the same opponent for long enough. Kinda like Piranha Plant's side special.

Just something cool from some obscure website I found. As an item, it appears as a random instrument and it works like the cheerleading item in Kirby Fighters 2, where the character can play the instrument while being restricted to only walking. If the wielder can finish the song, they are given several huge stat buffs! If they're hit once while playing, they'll drop the instrument!

Now, onto our next wave of jobs!

Job 486:

Create a Learning Book set for Saguwa.

Job 487:

Submit 3 Learning Champion stage forms for stages that do not have one! We will add 5 for this update.

You CANNOT submit Learning Champion stage forms for the following stages:

  • Sesame Street
  • Bobsville Castle
  • The Island of Sodor
  • EekoHouse
  • Magical Events
  • Tarrytown Sky Parade
  • Fast-Talking Jack's Carnival
  • Precinct 13579
  • Once Upon a Restaruant
  • Countdown
  • Animal Junction
  • Denali Trading Post
  • The Secret Museum
  • The Great Big Harbour
  • Mrs. Jenkins's Classroom
  • WordGirl's Super Secret Spaceship Hideout
  • Fred's Backyard and Nature Adventures
  • The D-Struct's Lair and Cave
  • The Living Volcano
  • Learning Company Memories
The stages listed above already have Learning Champion stage forms!

Job 488:

Submit a Story Mode chapter for Sagwa. Like the chapters we have done for the two bonus fighters and the other Learners Pass fighters in both passes thus far, the chapter can take place somewhere during the Story Mode or even in the neon gaming city at the end of the Story Mode. For this chapter, I would like to try to tie in Sagwa's story mode chapter to her 3D platformer in some form by sharing elements or something like that.

Regardless, get submitting and use your imagination!

Sagwa Learning Book Set

  • Tier 1 (Takes up 1 slot)
    • Kung Fu Cat! (Sagwa's Light Neutral comes out faster.)
    • Faster Mouse in the House (Sagwa's Light Down will come out faster and give more damage!)
    • Sagwa Is On Her Feet! (Sagwa gets a light buff in her speed to be a faster Siamese cat!)
    • Greater Wisdom (For Sagwa's Down Special, it will cause more damage and come out slightly faster.)
  • Tier 2 (Takes up 2 slots)
    • Flying Better Now, Fu-Fu! (For Sagwa's Up Special, Fu-Fu will fly a bit higher and a bit less clumsy.)
    • Buff from the Magistrate! (Now, Sagwa gains a stat buff to assist her, thanks to the Magistrate!)
    • A Stronger Stance (Now, Sagwa's Neutral Special comes out faster and its a bit stronger!)
  • Tier 3 (Takes up 3 slots)
    • Stronger Striking! (Now, for Sagwa's Light Neutral, it's a lot stronger thanks to her Kung Fu strikes getting better!)
    • Overwhelming Amount of Wisdom! (In Saguwa's Down Special, the explosion will always be super strong and hit!)
  • Tier 4 (Takes up 4 slots)
    • Empress Cat of China! (Saguwa becomes invincible for the first few seconds and her Predatory Stance attacks will all be super strong!)
Learning Champion Stage Forms

  • Hot Air Balloon Chase (I envision this stage having a layout similar to Air Armada from Rivals of Aether with the log plane being the platform and two hot air balloon platforms moving up and down slightly to make it competitively viable.)
  • Cliff's Cliff (You fight on a flat layout based on the land above where Cliff is with two ledges; think like an Omega form stage in the later Smash games and over time, various characters from the Cliff Hanger segments will either cameo or act as platforms like the helicopter being temporary, the eagle being one, etc.)
  • The Puzzle Place (It would have a layout similar to Reverse Battlefield from the Melee SD Remix mod with the characters cameoing in the background, I just think that would be a fun idea for a Learning Champion Stage form.)
I will probably write a Story Mode chapter for Sagwa, it's just late right now so I don't have the muse for it currently.

Also, for Pop's PBSKDS stage, I like the Party Balloons Soar in Kilometric Distances in the Sky name the best Pop came up with. I guess that name just sounds so zany to me anyway.

Here are some Learning Champion ideas:

  • The Windstorm in Bubbleland (Okay, get this... there is no windstorm. Yup 1/4 of this stage's title doesn't even matter here, lol. The ship, and therefore the whole stage, is now bigger, around Battlefield size. The bubbles appear & disappear as Battlefield-styled platforms in a more consistent pattern, like Fountain of Dreams)
  • Someplace Else (Turns the stage into a Melee Yoshi's Story layout. However, instead of Randall the Cloud, it's now Grampy's pet elephant Gregory on a little platform that's moving along the rectangle at the bottom of the stage.)
Don't a have a full story chapter in me, but I did think of a name and general concept: The Path of the Warrior. To tie into that platformer, it could be a story of Sagwa finding some kind of inner zen in times of great strife. Perhaps it can go back and forth between her journeys in the past through flashbacks (the events of the main story mode) and her new journeys in the present (within the Neon City, perhaps even within a brand new Brawltime! tournament being held there). To fit the theme of internal struggles and the "occasional flashback" gimmick, you could do something that I don't think any other story chapter has done before: Let you play as the "anomaly possessed" version of the character in a battle. IDK, could be a neat surprise... up to you.

Learning Champion Stage Forms
  • The Tibble Super Action Challenge: The layout can be similar to Tempest Peak from Rivals of Aether, I jsut felt this stage themed around awrestling ring neededa form like this!
  • Carnival Chaos: The layout can be similar to the Project M version of Rumble Falls, except it's a carnival theme.

Alright, so here goes my story mode chapter for Sagwa, that although this might be the first one I've written in ages, I think this one going to be tons of fun!

The chapter starts in ancient China where we cut to the Foolish Magistrate's palace, with everyone just doing their everyday activities, the chef was cooking great meals, the reader was proofreading some scrolls, and Sagwa and her family were just happily playing games in the courtyard. However, two of the Magistrate's daughters are searching all over the palace to find one of their lost sisters. Apparently, she has been lost for hours now.

Luk-Do: Ba-Do!, where are you?

Huang-Do: Ba-Do! We know you're in here somewhere!

When the two daughters reached one of the upper floor levels of the palace, they both managed to find their sister just standing there. However, the sister was standing there looking at the ground with her back turned on the sisters. Apparently, she was surrounded by mysterious purple aura, suggesting the fact that she was possessed by a certain purple villain that destroys PBS Kids worlds........

Huang-Do: Uhhhhh....Ba-Do?.......

Luk-Do: Uhhhhhhh, sis, I don't think you should touch her, she seems all infested by something, maybe a virus....

Huang-Do: Oh, don't tell me that she could be sick! I mean, she is just standing here and.....

At that moment, Ba-Do turns around to face her sisters, and with a menacing possessed purple look on her face and she immediately charges at her sisters and possesses them in the process.

Sagwa as well as her family and the Magistrate's family all heard screaming from upstairs

Sagwa: Oh my, guys, did you hear that?

Dongwa: Yeah! It seems to have come from somewhere in the palace......

Sheegwa: Well, than, maybe we should check it out!

Fu-Fu: Well, should we ever!

The 3 cat siblings begin running to the upper level, as their parents followed behind

Mama: Oh! Wait! Hold on! Where are you going!

Baba: Hmmmmm, they must have gone to investigate whatever was going on up there.

All the people living in the palace ran upstairs as well

Tai-Tai: My babies!

When everyone arrived upstairs, they were all very shocked to find out that the Magistrate's daughters were all possessed by a mysterious purple entity surrounded by a purple aura

Foolish Magistrate: Goodness GRACIOUS!!! What has happened to my 3 lovely poom-pies?!

Reader: Oh my gosh, even I can't make out what is happening here either.

Baba: what is that purple thing circling around them?

Daughters: W̵̹̹̮̦͈̘͔̭̠̥̜͊ȩ̶̡̼͈̗̦̟͆̿̊̎̓̈́̍̎͛̀̊̈́͂̂̕ ̸̮̬̹͚͕͈̫̠̲̔̏͐͗̊̂̿̒̚h̸̢̠̠͍͙̐̿͌͋̅̚ͅä̸̧̙̘̦̱́̇͂͛͒̈̈́̾v̵̛͚̱̤̖̖̀́͒͗̈̏̏̿ë̷̼̼̺̗̝͈̗̜͕͍͖͍͖́͂̐͝ ̴̻̣͇̗͚̹̖̺̟̻͖͖̥̤́͊̾̓̉̃̋̓͜c̵̢̨̧̲͇̦̲̖̹̩̩̰͚͚͗̇͆̈́o̷̢̫̣͓̪̺̱͛̅̓̈́̔̾̀͝m̶̧̡̹̼̙̞͙̤͇̣̠̙̖͕͔̓̉̓̉̒͛̓͋̌̕͠ȩ̶̯̝͎̬̫̀̑̾̍̂̐̈́̃̍̿̂͒̽͠ ̴̡̨̛̣͔̮͔̼̆͑͂͑̽̒̆̌h̷̹̗̣̼̒e̸̡̹̗̺̠̟͚͌̂͘ͅr̶̨̲̭̘̯̓͛̋̐̿͑͐̅̕̕͝͠ḙ̴̡̰̮͈͚̊͆̀͗ͅ ̷̛͙͊͛̐̃̀͑͌̍̚t̶͓̓o̷̰͕̪͕͑̈́̇̍̄͊͐̎̑͐̇̚̕͝ ̵̢̼̝̼͍̘̣͉͂̑̇̓̏̈͒͛͐̔́͜͜d̶͚̜̼̗̈́̋̀͐̚ê̴̢̟͓͍̺̮̲̞̺͕͉̬͓̐̏̂̾̽̓͐̿͐͠͠s̷̖̼̓͆͐͐͝ͅț̵̯̣͑̾̽r̶͔̣̹̳̠̯̝̳̞̲͕̓́̆̓̈́͒̀̚͜͝o̴̺͉͗͌̾͆̆̐͛̈́͆͑̏͒̇̀̚ỵ̷̧̻̼̹̭̘̞̦̘̻̫̦́̉̀͑̐̄̆̀͜!̸̡̛̲̯̤͔͗̋͐͝

Sagwa: Whatever it is, I must help them!

Dongwa: I'm with you!

Mama: Wait! It's too dangerous!

Sagwa, with Dongwa as her assist (and remains her assist for the whole chapter), all engage in a boss battle, 1 on 3, against all 3 of the Magistrate's daughters, whom are all possessed by the Anomaly. In their boss battle, each daughter can either fire projectiles, dart forward with darting attacks, summon bombs and other attacks. When one daughter is freed, they will offer a healing item to Sagwa as a way of saying thanks before running off in fear. Defeat all 3 daughters to move on to the next scene.

Sagwa: Ahhhh, well that takes care of it!

Ba-Do: Awwww, thank you, Sagwa! I'm free!

Magistrate: Well, I assume that takes care of everything!

Tai-Tai: Yeah, I reckon that too!

Just then, they all felt rumbling in the palace, and when they looked out the window, they all saw a the Anomaly heading straight towards the palace!

Magistrate: Oh my god, whatever is this hideous beast?!?! RUN!!!!!!!!

Everyone in the palace made a run for it as the Anomaly charges down and pulverizes and razes the Magistrate's palace completely. Sagwa turned her head back for a second.

Sagwa: No......she shed a tear, knowing her and her family's home was destroyed

The whole family runs off into the distance, and for a long time, they remain avoiding being caught by the Anomaly by going into hiding for a long time

6 months later........

We cut to Sagwa and her whole family and the Magistrate and his family all walking around the neon gaming city, all looking around the city for a new palace to call their home. Apparently, they were all not used to all of the technology going on around the city, as they all had scared looks on their faces from just looking at all the technology, as well as all the bright colors and colored lights surrounding them. They knew for sure they needed a new home that was like the old palace they had back at their own home before it was destroyed by the Anomaly. Running out of options, they all just decided to huddle together in a remote desolate place, as they all sat down and burst into tears, feeling very sad now that their old home was gone and that they have no home. Just then, the Teletubbies, who had noticed a bunch of homeless people out in the open, decided to go up to them and provide them food, being a bunch of fresh bowls of Tubby Ramen. Lionel was with them too.

Tinky-Winky: Noodles? Noodles?

Lionel: What he's saying is are you guys hungry? They're offering you all food, you all seem very lost!

Dongwa: Oh we all are lost

Sheegwa: VERY lost sniff

Lionel: Awwww....you poor things, you poor cats....HEY! Wait a minute! Are you Sagwa?! That calligraphy cat from that one book by Amy Tan?! I always loved reading that book back at my old library! Heck, Me and my family would even do storytimes with other kids with that book!

Sagwa: Yeah, that's me! But the only thing different now is.......we lost our home.....a purple monster destroyed our home......

Lionel: What do you mean? There's TONS of homes around here!

Baba: No, big cat boy, we need a home that's just like the palace we used to live in!

Lionel: Oh my! Well, why didn't you say so?

Cat siblings: Mr. Big cat boy, how can get a new fancy palace?

Sheegwa: We need to help our entire family!

Dongwa: We can't just stay out here in the open cold and die!

Sagwa: We'll do ANYTHING to get our palace back!

Lionel: Well..........

Ms. O was passing by

Ms. O: Well, Lionel, my studies show that there are tons of old Chinese coins and ingots spread all across the outer rims on this city, if you guys can go searching around the land, I bet maybe you'll find some and then you can trade it all in to someone to hopefully get them to buy you guys a new palace!

Sagwa: That's very cool!

Lionel: Thanks Ms. O! By the way Sagwa, my name's Lionel, and these.....are the Teletubbies!

Teletubbies: Eh-oh!

Sagwa: Wow! Well then, I must go out and help my family! Will you come with me?

Lionel: Of course! The Teletubbies would like to help too!

Sagwa: Dongwa? Sheegwa? You coming?

Sheegwa: Oh yeah!

Dongwa: Roger that!

Mama: Wait! Before you all go, Dongwa, take this!

Mama gives Dongwa a magnet so that they can all attract coins and ingots they come across

Dongwa: Uhhhh, what's this? Woah! It brings in metal stuff.... I see......

Baba: And Sheegwa, you take this!

Baba gives Sheegwa a special pouch to hold any artifacts they might collect along the way.

Sheegwa: A bag?! You gotta be kidding me!

Baba: Well, you never know what you guys might come across!

Sagwa: Alright, Dongwa, Sheegwa, Lionel, and Teletubbies, let's roll!

Sagwa's story mode chapter follows a map setup, with 7 stages total. Playing as Sagwa, Lionel and the Teletubbies, every stage has ancient Chinese coins and ingots to collect to add to their coin count, which will become important very later on. The starting point of the map is where the Magistrate's family as well as Sagwa's family are, and it hosts a shop where you can purchase upgrades for attacks, defense capabilities and Dongwa's magnet range and attract power, allowing it to attract in faraway coins faster! Each stage also contains 2 highly-valuable ancient Chinese artifacts hidden so cleverly in them that can be sold at the ends for huge amounts of coins.

Stage 1:
Just a normal walking platformer stage with enemies to battle and with every enemy defeated, they'll drop coins. Tougher enemies drop ingots! There are also coins and ingots scattered all across the stage as well.

Stage artifacts:

Jar, sell value: 10,000 coins

Golden Buddha, sell value: 30,000 coins

Stage 2:
Like stage 1, but has more climbing and water elements thrown in.

stage artifacts:

Inkstone (Makes sense since Sagwa and her family are calligraphers), sell value: 45,000 coins

Journey to the West novel, sell value 55,000 coins

Stage 3:
Works like a maze-like structure, similar to the Great Cave Offensive, with lots of scattered pathways and no real set linear path

Stage artifacts:
Old Bell, sell value, 50,000 coins

Terra-Cotta Big Bird mini-statue/statue-ette (references Sesame Workshop's collaboration on Sagwa the Chinese Siamese Cat), sell value: 55,000 coins

Stage 4:
A stage that actively takes place on a dragon train that will take them up a mountain to a castle up above, as the cats hop from car-to-car, either inside our outside, occasionally, the train passes through tunnels, and a warning symbol will pop up to warn Sagwa and co of upcoming tunnels, and they must go off the roof of the cars or else it's game over for them!

Stage artifacts:

Jade Dragon, sell value: 65,000 coins

Oracle Bone, sell value: 75,000 coins

Stage 5:
A golden castle stage, find a ton of coins and ingots there

Stage artifacts:

Old Teapot, sell value, 80,000 coins

ancient Chinese magic flute, references another Chinese animated series, sell value, 100,000 coins

Additionally, stages 2 and 4 contains secret exits that all lead to special hidden levels, both of which contain a huge amount of coins to collect! One has you continuously punch a balloon filled with coin and ingots to collect them, and one is a train filled with riches!

After clearing stage 3, you gain access to a special in-game casino on the map, where you get to use your collected coins for entry to play games as a way to win more coins. Wager in more coins to increase your bets and win more coins if you win! Double or nothing!

Game #1: Works like the minigame Mix-a-Mug from SM64DS, where you have to line up three sections of the faces of various Sagwa characters to win. Press buttons to stop one section of the roulette, starting from the top and then making the way to the bottom. Timing is key!

Game #2: Works like the minigame Puzzle Panel from SM64DS, select a panel to flip it as well as its surrounding tiles to match the design next to it!

Game #3: Works like the minigame Connect the Characters from SM64DS and Pathfinder from Big Brain Academy, except with figurines of Sagwa characters. Draw lines on a slide of vertical parallel lines to predict if you've made the right path or not!

Stage 6:
In this final stage, it works like Master Fortress from the fourth Smash Bros game. Sagwa has to navigate a dark maze filled with shadowy enemies in order to reach a mysterious glowing golden egg that can hatch into a wish-fulfilling dragon! No artifacts are found on this level.

Once Sagwa collects the golden Dragon egg, it summons a golden Chinese dragon spirit, and Sagwa wishes for a new palace for her whole family placed in the outskirts of the neon gaming city. Surprisingly, the dragon asks for a ton of coins, so Sagwa gives the dragon all of the coins she has collected up until she hatched him, as well as selling any artifacts she collected. (see above for each artifact's sell price) This is where the very exciting part comes in, depending on how many coins you collect, the ending will differ from bad endings to good endings! Below is a list of different shelters the dragon spirit can grant Sagwa and her family as well as the Magistrate's whole family and servants depending on howm any coins she collected.

0-300 coins:
A cheap plastic tool shed. Sagwa, the Magistrate and their families all still shed tears in sadness after seeing this house

301-199,999 coins:
Log cabin, Sagwa, the Magistrate and their families all still shed tears in sadness after seeing this house

200,000-299,999 coins:
Igloo, Sagwa, the Magistrate and their families look somewhat satisfied

300,000-399,999 coins:
Old-fashioned mansion, Sagwa, the Magistrate and their families look somewhat satisfied

400,000-499,999 coins:
A small Chinese Pagoda, Sagwa, the Magistrate and their families all celebrate with joy!

500,000+ coins collected, not all artifacts found:
A new Chinese Palace! Sagwa, the Magistrate and their families all celebrate with great joy! This palace is filled with some modern convivences, such as electricity-powered lights, air conditioning, electric blankets, etc.

500,000+ coins collected, all artifacts found:
Same as the 500,000+ coin ending, just with a waterfall and koi pond next to it!

After getting the best ending (500,000+ coins and all artifacts), Sagwa herself, and ONLY herself (along with Dongwa and Sheegwa) gets to enter a special 7th stage where she's transported to a haven in the sky full of giant floating Chinese artifacts and dragon statues. This stage is really hard, but winning this level awards Sagwa with a massive family portrait to display on her palace wall!

As for what will happen when Sagwa collects 1,000,000+ coins? Well........Let's see what happened when Wario collected 99,999 coins........(That's just my idea, though)

But I'm gonna leave you to give me some ideas!

After completing Sagwa's story mode chapter and getting the 500,000+ coin ending, you gain access to........

Sagwa Land 2+: SuperCats!

Go on a harder version of Sagwa's story mode chapter while retaining the upgrades bought in the main story mode chapter under the following conditions:
  • Anything that deal damage to the player deal a little more damage and knockback than usual
  • Healing items are less abundant
  • Sagwa can actually spill her riches when she gets hurt! She'll lose some coins anytime she takes damage.
  • Sagwa now has a coin multiplier applied when she defeats enemies, with it stacking up to x7. It resets to x1 when she takes damage, in addition to spilling some coins
  • Sagwa has the chance to lose 1 artifact upon failing a stage, and the artifact will return to its original location to be found again.
  • The two secret bonus stages can now only be played once every couple of hours, and after the third playthough, they can't be accessed again for the rest of the story mode chapter run, kinda like the Toad Houses in New Super Mario Bros.
  • Casino minigame difficulty increased; Bets require more coins
  • Upgrades have their prices increased, assuming Sagwa haven't bought them by then.
  • Completing this harder story mode chapter will reward Sagwa's palace with a giant golden statue of Sagwa, Dongwa and Sheegwa to commomerate their achivement as SuperCats!

Notes
  • Yes, Sagwa's story mode chapter was inspired by Wario Land (and Luigi's Mansion to a lessor extent), where the amount of coins you collect in-game impacts the ending!
  • I wanted to give the Magistrate's daughters somewhat of a big role here, since they did so little in the original animated series.
  • The artifacts Sagwa can find are all based on ancient Chinese artifacts, with a few of them being easter eggs!

Ok guys, so I did make some updates to my story mode chapter for Sagwa up until this point, including spelling error fixes (One of them being I accidentily types 5,000,000+ coins when it really should be 500,000+ coins, oops!!!!!), as well as added the 1,000,000+ coin prize and a "plus" mode for her story mode chapter, just to let everyone know.

In the meantime, I would love to hear everyone's idea for the 1,000,000+ coin prize, as well as any idea for the plus mode of Sagwa's story mode chapter. Got any?

Alright, so I love Pop's story mode chapter...it's way more clever than what I was going to do which was going to be just an expansion of Cyborg Sun's ideas. We will be using Pop's story mode chapter for Saguwa as I love the 3D platforming coin collecting theme alongside the small reference of Sagwa's book being referenced and it being canon in the Between the Lions universe so great stuff Pop! My Learning Book set for Saguwa alongside all the Learning Champion Stage forms will be added to Sagwa's update.

As for the items, the Stinky Tofu item will be used for Saguwa alongside the two website exclusive items and the two historical Chinese artifact-themed items so congrats to me and Pop for our item submissions! For the Legacy Skins, the two prompt ideas me and Pop submitted will be used so be prepared to create some cool Legacy Skin ideas!

Now, on to Event Matches for Saguwa!

Job 489:

Submit four DLC event match ideas to come with the update for Sagwa. Similar to the past two bonus fighters and the other Learners Pass fighters, I feel the events should be focused on the content that comes with her. So, any event can involve Sagwa herself, the assists that come with her, stages, items, etc.

Get submitting and use your imagination!

Event Matches for Sagwa

Event Description:
The Brawltime Party has taken the invitees to so many places! Now, we have arrived in Toyland and Noddy is on the hunt for some things that went missing. You will need to KO all the right opponents before reaching Gobbo and Sly. If you get to the part with Gobbo and Sly, you simply need to attack them to simply save Toyland! Then, Noddy will come and congratulate you! If you KO the wrong opponent, do not KO the opponents in time before getting to meet Gobbo and Sly, self-destruct or get KOd, you fail the event match.
References: The Make Way for Noddy video game Noddy: Detective for a Day alongside referencing other Noddy series that aired on Universal Kids called Noddy: Toyland Detective

Get hit three times, self-destruct or get KOd, you fail the event! Remember to be on your toes and be web savvy here!
References: The PBS Kids website game Don't Buy It as well as referencing various real-life events that were scams with AI-made ads like the Willy Wonka experience and recently a fan convention in the Philippines for Pokémon.

Event #Extra04: Earthquake Incoming!

Reference: The Bill Nye the Science Guy episode Earthquakes as well as how ancient earthquake detectors functioned in ancient China. Alongside this, your opponents are all from PBS Kids shows that talk about science (the more nature-based aspects of science).

Here goes mine ^^

Event #Extra01: Are there specters in the cave?
Event Description:
Uncle Miao: Sagwa, I've heard rumors about some ghosts that live in the cave where those statues of the cat ancestors are located, spooky, I know right? Apparently, I've also heard that they are also completely invisible, so they're very hard to spot. Please go into those caves to investigate and take good care of those ghosts while you can!/ 傻瓜 , 我聽說貓祖先雕像所在的洞穴裡住著一些鬼魂,很詭異,我知道對嗎?顯然,我也聽說它們也是完全隱形的,所以很難被發現。請大家趕緊去那些山洞裡調查一下,並好好照顧那些鬼魂吧!
Player: Sagwa
Assist: Dongwa
Stage: The Cave of The Ancients
Opponent(s): Marvin, Elmo, Digit
Event objective: It's a one-on-three battle against three invisible opponents! The opponents are of course, pretty hard to spot! They'll occasionally flash an outline of themselves to mark their locations and you can always follow their shadows on the ground to track where they are.
References: The Sagwa the Chinese Siamese Cat episode Royal Cats, with Elmo being a reference to Sesame Workshop's collaboration on Sagwa the Chinese Siamese Cat, and Marvin and Digit being very slight references to spirit animals seen in popular media. This event match was also inspired from both the Melee event match Slippy's Invention and the Brawl co-op event match Unwanted Suiters, both of which has the player(s) battling invisible opponents.

Event #Extra02: Dread Zeppelin
Event Description: Sagwa and her siblings have accidentally broken something valuable in their new Chinese palace near the neon gaming city! Whoops! Now Sagwa needs to collect some extra funds to help pay back for the damages by visiting that money balloon again, for a small loan of 3,000 coins!
Player: Sagwa
Stage: Coin Balloon bonus stage in Sagwa's story mode chapter (Bonus stage #1)
Opponent(s): none
Event objective: Rather than focusing on just collecting the coins (and ingots), you are instead tasked to collect a certain number of coins in a limited amount of time! Keep attacking the balloon as fast as you can and collect all those coins until you've collected 3,000 coins! You're given less time on harder difficulties!
References: This more or so works and references the Golden Zeppelin levels in Multiversus's PvE mode (The relaunch, that is), where you have to collect a certain number of riches within a certain amount of time. It is also inspired a little from Trophy Rush in the fourth Smash Bros. game! Also, the title is a parody of an old, yet popular English rock band of the 1960's.

Event #Extra03: The all-cold no-gold express
Event Description:
The train with all those coins and ingots on it now has in increased security system, now on the hunt for anyone who sneaks on-board the train to steal all those precious riches! Sagwa and her siblings have decided to take the challenge and sneak onto the train where taking any money off the train is strictly forbidden. If Sagwa collects more than 5 coins, she will never again see the light of day!
Player: Sagwa
Stage: Coin Train bonus stage in Sagwa's story mode chapter (Bonus stage #2)
Opponent(s): none
Event objective: In this event match, tread across the train without collecting a single coin or ingot! If Sagwa collects more than 5 coins, you fail the event match! Coin limit reduced to three on harder difficulties.
References: Inspired from the New Super Mario Bros U challenge, Cashless Castle Crawl, a challenge involving not collecting coins.

Event #Extra04: The great bean maiden rescue!
Event description:
The Foolish Magistrate needs your help again! Some purple entity has possessed his three lovely daughters once more, and they seem even tougher this time! Go on in! Save the daughters! Make the Magistrate happy!
Player: Choice
Assist: Dongwa
Stage: Beginning section of Sagwa's story mode chapter, where the Magistrate's 3 daughters are fought.
Opponent(s): The Foolish Magistrate's three beautiful daughters possessed by the Anomaly.
Event objective: Take on a harder version of the three daughters boss fight, now being able to play as ANY character! (I forgot to mention that in Sagwa's story mode chapter, when playing on Sagwa World 2+: SuperCats, the difficulty when battling against the three daughters doesn't change, since it's meant to serve as a typical easy starter stage, so this event match is the definitive harder version of this beginning boss fight!)
Reference: Just references typical boss rematches in video games, sometimes being harder than the original fight itself. It also technically references certain Chinese fictional works where whenever the hero rescues a girl, it usually ends in marriage or any other good fortunes. The title of the event itself references the fact that the Magistrate's daughters are named after beans that are usually grown in China, and are popular in that country as well. (白豆、綠豆、黃豆/White Bean, Green Bean, and Yellow Bean)

Event #Extra03: The PBS Kids: Brawltime! Experience!
Event Description:
Uh oh! There's some new PBS Kids: Brawltime! experience going around in talk but...there's three words you need to remember, DON'T BUY IT!
Player: Choice
Stage: Don't Buy It!
Opponent(s): 3 random opponents with hacking-computer static (5 on harder difficulties)
Event objective: In this event match, you need to simply dodge the opponents and bad advertisements for a straight minute. You get three strikes to dodge these ads that are false alongside the "false fighters" following you around. It's a simple scam here.

Event description:
Time for a science experiment! Bill Nye recently found some ancient earthquake detector used in China a long time ago. He wants to test to see if it works in his lab but earthquakes are dangerous after all!
Player: Choice
Assist: Ancient Earthquake Detector
Stage: Bill Nye's Lab
Opponent(s): Miss Frizzle, The Zula Patrol (Bula as the character), Nature Cat, Chris and Martin
Event objective: You need to simply KO your opponents with the Ancient Earthquake Detector assist at the full meter for the KO to count. If you KO the opponents without the assist, they will respawn. If you get KOd or self-destruct in this no-frills event match, you fail the event match!

Event Description:
Sagwa and her siblings have accidentally broken something valuable in their new Chinese palace near the neon gaming city!

Alright, I will close the Event Matches job and I must say...the event match ideas Pop went with are very interesting, I feel we will vote on the event matches by the batches. Please vote on which set of Event Matches you would rather have come with Sagwa in the Strawpoll below!

Event Match Poll

Time to go to the PBS Kids Archives once again for our next two jobs!

Job 490:

Submit episodes to be added to the PBS Kids Archives for the Sagwa update. We'll need one episode from Sagwa the Chinese Siamese Cat of course. I also feel we should add an episode for The Noddy Shop and Make Way for Noddy since the Noddy franchise just got added with the Toyland stage. I would also consider adding maybe a short from one of the website exclusive sites we added as well in terms of content. Feel free to submit episodes from shows already represented in this game who got content in this update and maybe stick to the China theme as well. I would say keep the bonus episodes from already represented PBS Kids shows at about 5 max.

Job 491:

Submit 5 PBS Kids Website games and 3 video games based on PBS Kids shows that should be added to the Archives for this update. The top 5 website games from PBS Kids webpages and the top 3 video games after voting will be added to the Archives!

One of the website games and one of the video games MUST come from a PBS Kids show represented in PBS Kids: Brawltime! that is NOT represented by a fighter.

We also need to add a demo of the Sagwa 3D platformer so please describe where the demo will take place in her game (on what level exactly).

Get submitting and use your imagination!

Updated PBS Kids Pinball Coming Up Next Bumpers Compilation with Sagwa's bumper

For the Sagwa episode, the first half has the Cave of the Ancients in the episode which is Sagwa's homestage. Also, any Noddy episode works but I chose the episode from The Noddy Shop I remember the most. I am aware the link to the Make Way for Noddy episode I posted is from Sprout On Demand and any episode from the show works but...the goblins are some of the main hazards/features on the Toyland stage so the second half of the Make Way for Noddy episode works fine there. I also threw in a compilation of the videos from the Jazz website.

As for the bonus episodes, three of them talk about Chinese New Year from Sesame Street, Postcards from Buster and Between the Lions. We get some more modern Sesame Street content with the episode being added. May I mention that the Between the Lions episode I added may hint at a Legacy Skin idea I have for the Sagwa update ;). Plus, we need more content from the newer and worse format of Between the Lions (the fifth through tenth season). The Bill Nye the Science Guy episode ties in with the Ancient Earthquake Detector assist. Finally, I forgot about this but...remember how on the PBS Kids Pinball Machine stage, we couldn't add an Easter Egg and show the Sagwa bumper on the stage? Well...now we can update that Coming Up Next bumper compilation with the Sagwa bumper added!

Demo of Sagwa: Cat of Nine Lives (new Sagwa 3D platformer for current gen consoles and PC)

You get to play the first level of the game where you get to play through the Foolish Magistrate's palace. I envision the Sagwa 3D platformer being a collectathon to games similar to Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64 where you get to explore different worlds but have linear progression. You get to collect ancient Chinese artifacts and all that fun stuff. The last part of the demo is where you get to fight the alley cats. You can also transfer the save data to your copy of the game when it comes out!

For the website games, any Sagwa game can work but the koi fish game seemed cute. It's been a while since we added a Between the Lions game so why not do Alphabet Soup since Lionel is in it? You can change the variant of the game to the older version. Thanks to Cyborg Sun Cyborg Sun and the link he shared, there was a website for The Magic School Bus back then when it aired on PBS so why not show off the webpage during its PBS run? The Sesame Street game I chose had to do with one of the older segments of the show being Global Grover and he has been to China so there's a fun addition. As for the bonus website game, I went with the Webonauts Internet Academy game as we added The Great Static as an assist.

For the video games, I added the information for the demo for the Sagwa 3D platformer. It's been a while since we added a PC game for Sesame Street so I went with another PC game that was made by Creative Wonders (now owned by The Learning Company) that has Big Bird in it given he appeared as an Easter Egg in Sagwa's Story Mode chapter. Also, we needed another PC game for Barney and Friends so I went with one made by Hasbro Interactive from my favorite era of Barney, the Treehouse era (despite me not being big on the show but I love Hasbro Interactive, mostly for the Thomas and Friends PC games they made in the early 2000s). Also, I thought it would be fun to add a Magic School Bus game from a later era after its time on PBS so I went with a game that was released for the franchise's anniversary in 2009 on the DS and also, you get the LeapFrog Explorer version as well so you get to pick which version you want to play! Plus, The Magic School Bus TV show turns 30 this year so what a perfect way to honor the franchise by giving it a game right here in the PBS Kids Archives that did celebrate a past anniversary. As for the PBS Kids game that is from a franchise not represented by a fighter, I went with Noddy: Detective for a Day for the VSmile to complete our collection of VSMile games based on PBS Kids shows. I was initally going to go with Noddy: A Day in Toyland for the GBA for nostalgic reasons but I am a bit of a completionist so we might as well go with the Noddy VSmile game.
