Rapscallion Sword

It seems that this sword has more of a abundance in the books than the show, but more book representation is always welcome! One side of the blade is wavy to symbolize the ocean, and the flat side represents land, the sword itself is used by the Rapscallions to determine if they travel by the land or by the sea. As an item, when used near water, it can summon a variety of very strong water attacks in many shapes and forms, as if you're a water-bender! On land, it works like the Killing Edge from Smash Bros., occasionally glowing a different color that signals it will unleash a critical hit on its next swing!

Medieval Times Item

Mace Flail

Just looking at it my whole life makes part of my body bruise! I bet it must have been more powerful than a car ramming into a tree! As an item, it is like the Belmonts' whips and Sheik's old chain side special, except with mostly half the range but twice the batting power!

I WAS originally going to submit an executioner's axe as the item for that, but I figured even that might be too dark for PBS Kids: Brawltime!

Canadian PBS Kids Show Item

The Magic Crayon (Wimzie's House)

Screenshot 2024-10-06 220758.png

We had been submitting art and creativity content lately, so why not continue it a little with this neat item? The Magic Crayon allows the wielder to draw 3 colored platforms, sort of like Cloud Mario. As long as you hold the attack button, the wielder will draw a platform in the shape of wherever they are moving.

Sofia the First Assist

Lucinda

Normally, I am completely fine with Prince Hugo, but I figured I'd submit an obscure character from the show for that matter. Bring the playful magic trickster she is, she'll do various things to other fighters to hinder them or just make them feel unlucky, such as lowering one of their stats, having certain effects turn against them, like healing moves dealing damage instead, or summon obscuring smoke clouds. Full assist meter has her hold an opponent in place for a few seconds, which works like the Stasis Rune in BotW or the Melee Ice Climber's freeze glitch! Keep dealing damage to those frozen oppoents to eventually send them flying!

On a side note, I do like the idea of numerous Playhouse Disney cameos on the Sofia stage as well as it having Playhouse Disney music. (Why did I forget those?!??)

“I am that is!”

Matthias is a middle-lightweight fighter due to being a mouse. He is a very unique fighter to PBS Kids: Brawltime! as he is the Brawltime Party’s first swordfighter. With this, he primarily uses medieval weaponry to fight in battle and has a lot of attacks with disjoints. He’s very fast on his feet due to being a warrior as well as having a lot of tools for some awesome combo potential. However, he is a glass cannon so once in disadvantage, the fight is over for him. He is basically a hodgepodge between the gameplay style of Link and Marth from the Smash Bros games. There are lots of opportunities for cool combos with Matthias!

Gimmick:

True Warrior Spirit

An idea from Cyborg Sun Cyborg Sun , because of Matthias being one of the very few characters on the roster that knows how to fight, he will show off his true warrior skills by observing his opponent's attacks by getting hit by them. If he were to get hit enough by the same attack, there is a chance he will automatically dodge it if RNG is in your favor! Chances grow higher if Matthias gets hit by the same attack over and over again!

Moveset:

Light Neutral: En Guarde!

In this move, Matthias simply attacks with his sword being The Sword of Martin similar to a sword swing ala medieval fashion. It has some disjoint and range so perfect for spacing! The stronger variant calls for an even stronger attack to REALLY push your opponents away!

Light Up: Spear Poke

Now, Matthias shows off his many different weapons by allowing you to cover range by poking opponents above. The poking is kind of rapid so a good combo starter. The stronger variant really gets you poking those opponents and pointing them into a good fight!

Light Down: Staff Sweep

Matthias will simply sweep the floor with his staff by attacking downward. It’s similar to various characters from Fire Emblem’s Down Smash in the Smash Bros games. The stronger variant will cause for a harder swing.

Neutral Special: Archer At The Ready

Similar to Link’s Neutral Special in the Smash Bros games, Matthias will pull out a bow and arrow and shoot his opponents with arrows from his bow. It’s perfect for spacing even with your opponents only getting little damage from said move. The longer you hold in the button you use for specials, the more damage your arrows will cause from your bow.

Up Special: The Warrior’s Jump

A bit of an original move inspired by the recovery moves of the Fire Emblem characters in the Smash Bros games, Matthias will simply do a simple swipe up with his sword with some range. It’s not the greatest recovery in air as it is only good for vertical distances. However, this move is great on the stage for those cool mixups when needed!

Down Special: Sling Shot

Matthias will simply set up a sling on the ground. The longer you hold in the button you use for special attacks, the stronger the projectile will be. Be sure to pay attention to the arrow on the screen indicating where the projectile will go. Also, this move leaves you vulnerable to attacks so be careful with this move! It’s very risk/reward-based.

Nature Cat Copy:

Nature Cat isn’t exactly a warrior but we see him try to swing a sword around, but really just whiff and he will fall over due to his overconfidence. Fred here is no true warrior.

Entrance:

Matthias walks out of the doors of Redwall Abbey and onto the battlefield.

Taunt:

We see Matthias point his sword to the sky and he says “My sword shall wield for me!”

Victory Animation:

We see Matthias’s fellow warriors lift Matthias up as they celebrate their victory cheering for him.

Losing Animation:

Matthias simply applauds for his fellow opponents, as a fair, noble warrior.

This one was fun to do but a little hard to do! As always, I'm open to all feedback! With this in mind, we should be able to go ahead with more jobs related to Matthias's pack next time! Enjoy!

Color-Me-Dragon Land and Our Silly Book with Words will be added as the other two stages so yay to me! Also, Hero Guy will be added as an assist alongside Castle of Enchancia.

Some other ideas I had for the stage are for the stage to have some Easter Eggs visually including various characters and references to Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior shows as if Sofia were to host a big ball for all of them. For the music...why not have music from the various Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior shows and even the video games they got? Finally...how about some music inspired by the old school Disney Interactive PC games? I actually have a fun idea for those games to get some tie-in stuff because of Sofia ;)

Vote for the Redwall assist and Canadian PBS Kids show assists below in the polls.

Redwall Item

Sword of Martin/Ratdeath

View attachment 394902

Since we do not have a sword item yet from what I believe, here it is! Even though we get the Mattimeo assist, this sword is too iconic as it did appear in the Redwall TV show. A fighter can wield this sword and attack opponents by giving them around 10-15% damage with this sword. After a little while, the sword will become weaker and give less damage. Thus...it will disappear after some time. Once in a while though, the sword will give some more damage (between 20-25%) by some lucky chance if you want to maintain peace. The chances for that are higher if you are losing the fight.

Medieval Times Item

Medieval Wooden Shield (Original Item)

View attachment 394903

If I submit a sword item, then I must add a shield too into the mix! This shield will have the PBS Kids logo on it. The shield simply acts similar to the Back Shield item from the Smash Bros games. However, this shield is more versatile as it can guard attacks for a short while in any direction. Plus, you can also carry another item with you when this shield is in front of you. Wooden shields are somewhat strong in this cartoon logic-filled world. So, be prepared to defend yourslelf with the PBS Kids shield from ye olden days!

Canadian PBS Kids Show Item

Bubble Wand (Toopy and Binoo)

View attachment 394904

From an obscure PBS Kids show that I remember the website of more than the show itself, it's the iconic bubble wand from Toopy and Binoo. A fighter can simply pick it up and create some bubbles. The bubbles will capture a fighter similar to Ranno's bubble trap in Rivals of Aether which leaves your opponents open to your attacks. However, you can create multiple smaller bubbles to simply push opponents away and give them damage! I am kind of surprised we do not have a bubble-themed item or move yet in this game. Ironically, it could be added to a character from the darkest PBS Kids show's update, heh.

Sofia the First Assist

Prince Hugo

View attachment 394905

Being a prince himself, he is the perfect assist to accompany a fighter who is a princess. When used as an assist, he will simply go around on his flying horse and hit opponents occasionally giving them some damage. If you are using Sofia while having the Hugo assist, he will cause your stats to be nerfed while you get healed. This is to show how he was originally antagonistic. However, when the assist meter is full, he will be a selfless prince and hep you in battle! He will give you a royal stat buff and even knock opponents way out of the stage with his flying horse! Even then, he will assist you with recovery as well! Being a prince can be a good thing if your a selfless assist.

I will try to submit a Matthias moveset this weekend and my second director's insight. This is what I have for now for the jobs.

Sofia the First Item

Shatter Stone

images.jpeg

This item would probably be one of the most broken items in PBS Kids: Brawltime! When this stone is summoned, it can be attacked up to three times. Because of this stone's immense power, the third time it is attacked, the person who attacked it gets automatically KOd as this stone can destroy ANYTHING. Surprisingly, this stone made it to the Brawltime Party though...

Legacy Skin Matthias Prompt

Submit a Legacy Skin themed around an indirect reference to either a popular video game franchise, anime, or even tokusatsu franchise!

Not sure if this is the most original but...to stick with the Neon Gaming City theme, wouldn't it be cool if we had a Legacy Skin themed after a trope or referencing something from a popular video game, anime or toku franchise? It sticks with the Japanese theme the end of the Story Mode initially had so...why not? I have a few ideas for this job anyway.

I have an idea for a Matthias Story Mode chapter. I just need time to write it out soon and I just don't have the energy tonight. But...you can expect my next commentary insight to come very soon!

Also, the assist for Sofia the First will be Lucinda so yay to Pop again!

The current wave of jobs I posted a few days ago will be open for a little while now. Same thing with the Story Mode chapter.

However, I have a few more jobs to add to the table!

Job 563:

Submit 3 Learning Champion stage forms for stages that do not have one for Matthias's update! We will add 5 for this update.

You CANNOT submit Learning Champion stage forms for the following stages:

  • Sesame Street
  • Bobsville Castle
  • The Island of Sodor
  • EekoHouse
  • Magical Events
  • Tarrytown Sky Parade
  • Fast-Talking Jack's Carnival
  • Precinct 13579
  • Once Upon a Restaruant
  • Countdown
  • Animal Junction
  • Denali Trading Post
  • The Secret Museum
  • The Great Big Harbour
  • Mrs. Jenkins's Classroom
  • WordGirl's Super Secret Spaceship Hideout
  • Fred's Backyard and Nature Adventures
  • The D-Struct's Lair and Cave
  • The Living Volcano
  • Learning Company Memories
  • Hot Air Balloon Chase
  • Cliff's Cliff
  • The Puzzle Place
  • The Windstorm in Bubbleland
  • Someplace Else
  • The Tibble Super Action Challenge
  • Carnival Chaos
  • The Cave of the Ancients
  • Animal Town
  • Lakeshore Elementary School and Playground
  • Tortuga HQ
  • Hooper's Table
  • PBS Kids Pinball Machine
The stages listed above already have Learning Champion stage forms!

Job 564:

Submit 2 Learning Playground Stage Forms for Matthias's update. We will add about 4 of these stage forms. These are hazard/fun-based stage forms for stages that have competitive-legal stage layouts. You CANNOT submit Learning Playground Stage for the following stages:

  • Tickle Me Land
  • Busterfield Library
  • The Treehouse
  • Buster's Video Postcards
  • Land of Make-Believe

Job 565:

I have decided with Pop that this will be the content ratio for Sofia the First's pack with the following requirements for stages, assists and items.

  • 6 stages (Sofia’s and five others)
  • 5 assists (Sofia’s and four others)
  • 6 items (Sofia and five others)
For the stages, assists and items....you can expect to see:

  • A stage, assist and item from a Playhouse Disney show
  • A stage, assist and item from a Disney Junior show
  • A stage, assist and item from a Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior show not owned by Disney
  • A stage, assist and item from a Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior interstital or mascot
  • A stage, assist and item from a category we will decide on (can be based on Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior stuff or something in the Disney world)
  • A SPECIAL SURPRISE stage and item that will deal with one of the contents in the PBS Kids Archives
  • Cool content based on the Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior IPs in the PBS Kids Archives
  • For Legacy Skins, there will be 5 (one for Sofia, 4 for the PBS Kids characters)
Submit a category based on the Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior IPs or even other Disney IPs (preferably anything educational) that you want to see represented in our collection of content to come to PBS Kids: Brawltime! It MUST be in relation to the Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior IPs. Give examples of the IPs that fit in the category and why your category should be chosen. It CANNOT be anything TOO broad. The top category will be chosen.

Get submitting and use your imagination!

Learning Champion Stage Forms

  • Saint Ninian's Church (Why not add Matthias's own home stage to get a Learning Champion stage form? Here, it's based on the stage layout seen on the Dracula's Castle stage in Project M with the platforms being smaller and less long in a way to make it competitively legal. The bell will ring in the background but you can't interact with it.)
  • Storybrook Village (Same stage length as Dr. Wily's Castle but here, platforms are more varied based on the stories like simple stage transformations like a competitively legal Pokémon Stadium stage like the Jack and the Beanstalk portion having leaf platforms rotating, the three little pigs having some platforms of straw that can be destroyed for fun, etc.)
  • The Apartment (Literally the Lylat Cruise layout in a way but in the elevator portion and you see all the different floors in George's apartment)

Learning Playground Stage Forms

  • PTV Park (Now, the PBS P-Pals come out to play as the various ident characters will swarm the stage saying hello! Occasionally, the PTV Park blimp may come by as an additional platform.)
  • Zobooland (Now, Zoboo's friends come and join the fun! Gooble will spawn beries, Narchi will shoot goobleberries at the fighters, Zoboomafoosaurus will cause an earthquake, etc. The Zobooland gang is here!)
Sofia the First Category Submission for Content

Other Franchises Disney Owns/Has Had Relationship With That is Educational in Some Form that were NOT on Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior

A bit of a broad one but...a good way to honor other Disney IPs that were educational in a way that did not air on the Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior channels. There's Spot of course as well as things like the National Geographic stuff they own. There is one certain educational IP that fits in this category that I DEFINITELY want to see in PBS Kids: Brawltime! in some form though ;)

And now...it's time for another insight:

Insight #3

Where The Brawltime Party Has Gone: A Look Back at the Initial Stage Selection

One important piece of platform fighters are of course, the fighters themselves. But...what also counts for a platform fighter is the selection of stages and their variety. Every platform fighter usually tries to have that meaty variation of stages. The Smash Bros series has had a heavy focus on more fun layouts, the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl games have had a heavy focus on competitive-legal layouts as well as fun ones, Rivals of Aether has mostly competitively-legal stages with the Aether option for more hazards added to the stages, etc. For a PBS Kids platform fighter, however...how do we make the stages? Well....I thought "If PBS Kids were to make a platform fighter that is a quality product and a product for the older audience too, why not make it a healthy mix of competitively-legal stages with some fun ones?" That's how our stage selection came to be.

When PBS Kids: Brawltime! just began, I did have an initial idea for some stages for the starting four. Sesame Street stayed for Big Bird's home stage. Arthur's was to be Elwood City but then it became Once Upon a Restaurant for stage variety. Dash's was PTV Park and Mr. Rogers's was The Land of Make-Believe. It's funny to see how some of these stages have competitively legal layouts like Mr. Rogers's stage having the layout of Pokémon Stadium 2 and PTV Park having the layout of Battlefield. Literally, we had every major competitively-legal Smash Bros layout in this game as of now. Barney's stage was to be The School initially but...that became The Treehouse (based on the best era of Barney and Friends in my opinion). I feel the homestages were perfect choices for the various characters. Some of my favorites include the fact that Lionel's homestage was Cliff's Cliff (as I love the Cliff Hanger segments in Between the Lions), Barney's being The Treehouse, the Kratts getting Animal Junction (for the nostalgia reasons) and Cheeko's being the EekoHouse.

We did add some stages for PBS Kids IPs that would not work well with a fighter and such. The Island of Sodor is another fun one looking back at it as I love Thomas and Friends (and the TV show just turned 40 this year) and the most fun one being the Tarrytown Sky Parade. The most unique thing about that stage is the fact that it's based on a specific scene from an episode and not a central location from Jay Jay the Jet Plane. Heck, even the ZOOM stage was fun too, and fit well. But, I feel the best thing about the stages was the ways to bring in some more obscure PBS Kids IPs and references. The big one here in the base game was The Puzzle Place (the stage based on the show of the same name) and even some of the stages themed after idents and bumpers like the PBS Kids Pinball Machine and the Coming Up Next Street and Hooper's Table (bet no one thought of that for a stage idea besides me).

There were some times we had stage jobs for stages based on certain criteria from a PBS Kids show such as a stage from a PBS Kids show that was a part of the Bookworm Bunch block, a stage based on a PBS Kids ident, etc. I just love adding extra content from PBS Kids shows, if that means because of my completionist nature to add just about every nook and cranny from the PBS Kids library. But...really, the stages are overall a very fun mix because of the way the stages have fun hazards and some are very, very competitive. Realistically, I feel a PBS Kids platform fighter would have stages with walkoffs (and a good amount of them) to help the kids learn how to play a platform fighter without being TOO penalized so we achieved that. We have added more stages with the DLC but...that is another story for another time. While I do wish we had about an extra stage or two in the base game for some other obscurer PBS Kids IPs that wouldn't make sense as DLC, it's satisfactory.

Next insight will be themed around assists and items. I hope to write the Matthias story mode chapter very soon when I have time.

Man, I am MORE late to this than ever! Normally, I am completely fine with all of the current submissions (Might submit Learning Champion Stage Forms and Learning Playground Stage Forms later, but no guarantees), but here's some of mine:

Legacy Skin Matthias Prompt

Submit a Legacy Skin themed around a certain point in time in the real world, such as Prehistoric, Ancient Greece, Ancient Egypt, Medieval, etc.

Ok, I'm not gonna lie, AlteredBeast's idea is one I would be ESTATIC to submit ideas for, but my idea is an interesting one. Inspired from Mario Party 2 and other time travel games of yesteryear, Why not have the characters dress up as if they lived in a certain point in time, like dressing as a caveman, gladiator, pharaoh, knight, etc. I think this would be very fitting for the theme of Matthias' theme of taking place in ancient times.

Sofia the First Category Submission for Content

Stuff from Disney Video Games or from Disney properties based on video games.

I dunno, why not submit stuff that come from Disney video games over the years, such as Disney Infinity, Disney Speedstorm or even Epic Mickey? I also feel like it would be fun to have things from Disney properties based on video games count too, like Wreck-It Ralph and Tron. After all, whenever a Disney crossover game or a Crossover game with Disney content in it is out, the two top must-includes for them are Wreck-It Ralph and Tron.

I don't have a story mode chapter for Matthias, BUT I do have one for Sofia! I'll submit that when the time comes or when I HAVE to.

On a more important note, the last things I REALLY plan to submit here are the Archives stuff for Sofia, Sofia's story mode chapter and her reveal trailer. I'll submit them when we get there, but in the meantime, I'll only contribute when I can. Also, if we don't get there in time, I will submit the Archives stuff for Sofia, Sofia's story mode chapter and her reveal trailer before my departure on Halloween no matter what. Hope everyone doesn't mind, but I want my presence on this thread to really end with a grand sendoff.

Will submit my third insight later

Alright, so now I will try my hand at the Matthias Story Mode Chapter with my idea!

Matthias Story Mode Chapter

The Quest For the Shield of Worlds

This Story Mode Chapter takes place during the Epilogue where we see Matthias go on some sort of gauntlet to battle in various PBS Kids worlds to find some sort of evil in them and some story about a mythical shield...similar to the tie-in LeapFrog product Redwall is getting in this alternate world.

The chapter starts with a view of the Neon Gaming City where various PBS Kids characters are doing their normal things. The Teletubbies and Zaboo are running their food cart, Arthur and his friends are at the dance club, Big Bird and Elmo are at the arcade, etc. Then, we cut to some sort of medieval-castle in the outskirts of the city that is inspired by various fantasy animes and JRPGs and we see an opening cinematic similar to Redwall with a remix of the Redwall theme.

We then see Matthias inside some sort of castle reminiscent of Redwall Abbey.

Cornflower: Oh Matthias, brave and strong. Every one of us here is thankful for your courage during that intrusion between us and those purple monsters in the old world. Even the strongest face challenges sometimes.

Redwall: Yes, my good sir. That was...a true battle so to speak. I remember it like it happened today...

We then cut to a cinematic of when the Anomaly came to the world of Redwall and everyone ran.

Now, you get to play as Matthias where you have to run away from the Anomaly in a mad 60-second dash through a platforming section in Redwall. Get touched by the purple goo and you get KOd! You must get to the safe zone in time!

After the platforming section:

We then cut to a cutscene of Matthias being safe and then we see various footage of him traveling through the World of No-Learning and battling Anomaly Monsters using his weaponry.

Mattimeo: My dear Matthias, you really were strong against them. And now, we are back fighting more battles.

Then, we see them moving into the Neon Gaming City in another flashback.

Jess Squirrel: This new life we live in is quite neat. Those medieval fairs with dragons, monsters, duels...it is a special time!

Matthias snaps out of his thought.

Matthias: You are right...now, I saw some sort of legend that I heard about while traversing through this new world.

Mattimeo: What is it?

Matthias then holds up a rough sketch of some mythical shield.

Matthias: Behold, it's a mythical shield seen somewhere in this new world. It seems to have some sort of special color and face on it...but how does one acquire such thing?

Cornflower: Matthias, that shield seems to be some sort of shield found by traveling to other worlds. Only a true warrior like you can get it. Now, your flame shall grow bright and be prepared for the challenge!

Matthias nods.

Matthias: Now, I suppose we shall start by traversing this land for any clues about where the shield is...come along Mattimeo!

Mattimeo: Right with you!

After the cutscene, you play as Matthias with Mattimeo through a platforming section where you traverse the medieval land to the spot where the clues are for the shield. Various enemy soldiers will come and attack as well as fire slings. It's a simple platforming section.

After the platforming section:

We then see Matthias and Mattimeo appear by some portal.

Matthias: Now...this may give us a clue! We must go into that purple hole and find out where it goes!

Mattimeo: Your right! Now then, we shall hop in on thy count of three! One! Two! Three!

Matthias and Mattimeo hop into the portal, falling through some sort of wormhole. We then see them being transported to some sort of big barren maze.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Welcome to thy test of strength for the special Brawltime Party shield! Ye shall travel through various worlds and be tested to see if ye are the strongest warrior in the land! Best of luck!

Matthias: Well...if this is any challenge! I am for it! We shall head out and find the challenges awaiting us!

Mattimeo: Hopefully, it is not those purple monsters!

Matthias: Certainly.

After the cutscene, you play as Matthias with Mattimeo through a big platforming section with various tasks for you to complete involving various PBS Kids worlds and challenges based on their worlds and strength. Mooks will attack you to really test you based on the characters from the various worlds. It's like The Great Maze but with different tests.

The first section is based on Sesame Street. In the background, you hear the voice from above being Announcer Bunny telling you what you need to do similar to various Leapster games.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Find thy objects to give to thy neighbors!

Now, you need to find the objects that belong to each Sesame Street character.

Then, you go to a world similar to Elwood City.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Protect thy plane!

Similar to the Arthur’s Big Hit event, you need to protect the plane from strong monsters.

Third, you enter the word similar to the Land of Make-Believe.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Find thy trolley!

When the trolley comes, you need to attack it.

Afterward, you enter a world similar to Barney’s treehouse.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Sing thy song!

For this, you need to attack the music notes for the song, I Love You.

Then, you move forth to a place similar to the Animal Junction from Zoboomafoo.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Make thy animal friend today!

You need to attack pictures of the animals that are announced by the Kratt Brothers.

Onward, you enter Fair City.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Use thy word power!

You need to attack various words that Wordgirl says for the synonyms.

Continuing, you move to the world of the Magic School Bus in space.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Find thy planets!

Attack the planets in the order they are in.

Now, you are in the world of Cyberspace.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Form thy triangle!

You need to form a triangle with the light beacons in a set time.

Furthermore, you go on to the Busterfield Library.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Find thy books!

Now, you need to attack the right book that Theo calls out.

You head off to the Secret Museum then last in the first wave of challenges.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Make thy history!

Now, it's a no-frills battle against some mooks in the Secret Museum! Defeat the 25 mooks in a no-frills mayhem.

Then, you head off to PTV Park.

End of the first section of challenges....

We see Matthias and Mattimeo approaching the world of PTV Park.

Matthias: Well, we made it to here.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: You are doing great, brave warrior! Now, meet thy king, Dash for further instructions!

Dash and Dot appear.

Dash: Hey! Matthias, you are doing great in this test for the shield! You went through so many worlds...but the challenges will be tougher from here. But, I am here to help you on this journey and so are the rest of the warriors from the warrior's worlds

We see Big Bird, Elmo, Arthur, Buster, Mr. Rogers, Barney, Chris and Martin, Ms. Frizzle, Digit, Hacker, Wordgirl, Lionel and Xavier Riddle.

Dash: Ok guys, we have to help Matthias.

Everyone nods.

After the cutscene, you get to choose 6 of the 15 characters with the Mattimeo assist to continue onward through the PBS Kids worlds going through PTV Park. More mooks will appear and the challenges will get tougher.

First, you head off to the Tubbytronic Superdome.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Clean up thy Tubby Toast!

Now, you have to clean up the Tubby Toast in under 30 seconds.

You continue on to the land of Alaska and encounter the Denali Trading Post.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Do amazing things!

Now, Molly's voice will instruct you on what amazing things you must do like certain attacks or moves. Fail once and you get KOd automatically!

Then, you head off to Dragon Land.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Wish with all your heart!

Now, you need to battle a shadow Ord with stronger attacks and slay him to summon the light to Dragon Land!

You then head off to a carnival similar to Fast-Talking Jack's Carnival.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Attack to thy beat!

Now, you fight a shadow Marvin but you have to attack to a certain beat according to a circle.

Continuing, you go to Ruffman's game studio.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Find thy bones!

You have under a minute to find Ruffman's bones in under 35 seconds.

Then, you head off to EekoHouse.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Be Eekofriendly!

You have to attack all the things that need to be environmentally friendly in the kitchen in the EekoHouse in under 45 seconds.

Continuing, you go on to The Secret House.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Find thy magic bag!

Listen to the tots's clues to find the Magic Bag item in under 45 seconds.

Finally, you head off to the Precinct of 13579 where you have to do the final task before completing the second wave of challenges.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Dodge thy lasers!

Now, you have to dodge the lasers that can OHKO you in under 50 seconds.

After the platforming section, you head off to a medieval coliseum-esque area where there is a crowd where Matthias and the 15 other characters head off to.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: You are doing great thy warrior! Now, more warriors join your aid!

We see The Teletubbies, Ord, Molly Mabray, Ruff Ruffman, Cheeko, Donkey and Ms. O. join you.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Now, prepare for thy gauntlet of fate against some tough warriors from other worlds!

Matthias and the others look in shock. There, they saw an evil monster based on the Mega Machines from Bob the Builder.

Matthias: Dearest me! That monster looks scary!

Mattimeo: We'll take them on!

After the cutscene, you get to choose 10 of the 22 characters with the Mattimeo assist to help you fight against a gauntlet of bosses from other PBS Kids worlds which you have to complete in a certain time frame and with limited resources. The first boss is the Mega Machines boss from Bob the Builder's story mode chapter but stronger. Then, you fight against a much stronger Zach Varmitech from Malik, Zadie and Zeke's Story Mode Chapter with more attacks based on Work It Out, Wombats. Then, you fight against a new Anomaly boss inspired by Mrs. O'Connor from Betsy's Kindergarten Adventures where she uses teacher attacks as well as some stuff from Betsy's moveset. Fourth, you battle against a stronger shadow Princess Presto from Super Why's chapter. Fifth, you battle against a stronger Dark Truder boss from the Zula Patrol's Story Mode chapter. Finally, you face off against a more evil Spellbinder from Letterman's Story Mode chapter where he makes worse spells.

After the gauntlet:

The crowd cheers.

Dash: Well, that was tough!

Mattimeo: Tis no match for us!

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Congratulations! You won the gauntlet! Not too far from thy end! New warriors are here to aid!

Bob the Builder, Malik, Zadie and Zeke, Betsy, Super Why, The Zula Patrol and Letterman appear.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Your final tests awaits! Go onward!

Everyone heads out of the coliseum and onto the final tests.

After the cutscene, you get to choose 7 of the 28 characters with the Mattimeo assist to help you finish up the last 5 tests before the big final one.

The first test involves you going to the battle site where you fought the Anomaly Bat in Curious George's chapter.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Attack thy bat!

Similar to the Event Match, you need to defeat the Bat Anomaly in under 15 seconds.

Continuing on, you go to Fred's backyard where there are now physical versions of Fred that are training dummies moving.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Use nature to attack thy cats!

You must use the tree trunks on the ground to attack the swarm of 15 Nature Cats.

Third, you head off to The Magistrate's Palace.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Defeat thy sisters!

It's a no-frills battle similar to the boss fight in Sagwa's Story Mode Chapter but stronger!

Fourth, you head off to the electric corridor where it is dark.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: Solve thy puzzle!

You have to go through the dark electric corridor Olive went through in her Story Mode chapter but you have less resources for light.

Afterwards, you head to a castle for your big, final test.

There, you see Curious George, Nature Cat, Sagwa and Olive waiting for you. All the PBS Kids characters head in.

Matthias: Well...this is where that shield should be! Please tell me where it...

Suddenly, they were interrupted by some sort of big chimera that has the PBS Kids logo on it.

A voice from above similar to Announcer Bunny: You must battle thy Chimera in order to recieve thy shield! Only a brave warrior can get it!

Matthias: Well...I went through all those puzzles. This is no match for me!

Everyone nods.

After the cutscene, you get to choose 12 of the 33 characters with the Mattimeo assist to help you defeat the very hard Chimera boss. This Chimera boss is a fusion of every PBS Kids fighter in the game combined with some super strong attacks. Basically, it is the Tabuu of PBS Kids: Brawltime! but a better amalgamation of the PBS Kids characters. It is a very tough fight. After you defeat the Chimera, you have to run across a bridge that collaspes in under 60 seconds to get the shield.

After the boss battle:

Matthias then sees the PBS Kids shield and gets it. Then, all the PBS Kids characters look in amazement.

Dash: Well, Matthias. You did it!

All of them cheer and Matthias smiles.

Mattimeo: You really are that warrior, aren't you?

Matthias smiles.

Everyone celebrates and cheers Matthias's victory with the Redwall theme playing in the back.

Back at Matthias's castle, Matthias invited everyone over for a medieval feast of some form.

We see Buster trying all the food.

Buster: So much good food.

Everyone sits down and eats.

Lionel: Hey, Matthias, we love your books in our library! Can you come and visit us soon?

Arthur: And we have medieval fairs too we go too.

Bob the Builder: This does give me memories of when me and my team restored a castle.

Matthias hears all the talking to him and he settles everyone down.

Matthias: Well...I would love to visit the worlds all of you came from. But, this shield is my most prized possession of friendship.

The chapter ends with Matthias putting the shield somewhere safe by a picture of him, Mattimeo and the other PBS Kids characters by it.

End of Chapter

Notes:

  • This chapter was meant to tie in to the LeapFrog product idea that tied in to Matthias submitted by Cyborg Sun Cyborg Sun called Matthias's Shield: The Quest of the Worlds with the whole world traveling as well as a tribute to the PBS Kids worlds in this game represented by fighters as Matthias is the last PBS Kids character to be DLC in PBS Kids: Brawltime!
  • The levels were based on various games in Leapster games with tasks as well as hard ARPG games that test your skill like Dark Souls, Kingdom Hearts, etc.
  • This level was not that educational as Redwall was the only PBS Kids show to not be explicitly educational in any case.
  • Also, I made this level less-focused on interaction between characters as I wanted it to be more focused on the action component and such. The interactions happen in the LeapFrog product.

My Matthias Story Mode chapter will be added. Also, we will do both Legacy Skin prompts for 2 of the 4 Legacy Skins coming with Matthias. We need to vote on the fifth category of content to come with Sofia the First. Please vote in the poll above.

Now, onto Matthias's Event Matches!

Job 566:

Submit four DLC event match ideas to come with the update for Matthias. Similar to the past two bonus fighters and the other Learners Pass fighters, I feel the events should be focused on the content that comes with his. So, any event can involve Matthias himself, the assists that come with him, stages, items, etc.

Get submitting and use your imagination!

Sorry if the Event Matches feel the same-ish but...just wanted to get some out here and I do feel Matthias's Event Matches would be more combat-based as...Matthias is one of the very few characters in PBS Kids: Brawltime! that can fight as Cyborg Sun Cyborg Sun has mentioned but still, enjoy! Share your Event Match ideas here!

Also, soon, I will post my fourth insight as well as potentially more stuff regarding Definitive Edition content!

The Matthias event matches will stay open for another day. Also, for the fifth content criterion, the Disney video games idea pitched by PopCultureCorn PopCultureCorn will be used so congrats to him!

Now, I have made a poll in regard to the criteria for the 4 newcomers for the Definitive Edition in the Strawpoll below. Vote for the 4 newcomer criteria in the poll below!

Definitive Edition Newcomer Criteria Poll

Now, back to Sofia the First's jobs, this time for stages!

Job 567:

Submit a stage based on a Playhouse Disney show that first aired in the Playhouse Disney era.

Job 568:

Submit a stage based on a Disney Junior show that first aired in the Disney Junior era.

Job 569:

Submit a stage based on a Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior show not owned by Disney.

Job 570:

Submit a stage based on a Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior interstital, bumper or mascot content.

Job 571:

Submit a stage based on a Disney video game (preferably something educational) but anything works.

Describe each stage's layout, hazards, and/or gimmicks. Get submitting and use your imagination!

Playhouse Disney Stage

The Big Blue House (Bear in The Big Blue House)

x1080.jpeg

One of my favorite Playhouse Disney shows should get at least some crumb of content, of course! Bear in the Big Blue House was the first Playhouse Disney show when the preschool block first aired in 1997 (back when it was the Disney Channel Preschool Block). This stage is just like the Tomodachi Life stage from the Smash Bros games but bigger and no walkoffs. There are so many rooms you can fight in. You fight in the Big Blue House and you see Bear and his friends in the background. Occasionally, it will be Cha Cha time where everyone dances and all the fighters get a stat buff due to the excitement of dancing! The stage will change from day to night where you can see Luna in the background as well saying hi! It's a simple stage with not too much going on. After all, Bear in the Big Blue House deserves a simple stage for the show's simple nature.

Disney Junior Stage

Nice and Friendly Corners (Sherriff Callie's Wild West)

ezgif-6-b3b9a1da2f.jpg

We don't have a stage themed after a western town yet so...why not add this one from this Disney Junior show? I like to envision this stage being similar to Western Town from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash Up but with more platforms for the buildings. There are walk-offs there too as it is a town. Sherriff Callie and her fellow friends will ride in horses so watch out for them! Also, watch out for the bandits! They may steal a move from you for a little while. But...if you attack the bandit, you get rewarded with a super strong item, courtesy of Deputy Peck and Toby!

Acquired Programming Stage

Wigglehouse (The Wiggles)

ezgif-1-30fbff8bc4.jpg

Would you look at that? We are double-dipping into Wiggles content. I do feel the item they got with Ty Rux was more based on a programming block so why not do something from the original TV series? Here, you get to travel through a stage with walkoffs through the various rooms of the Wigglehouse. There are various things for you to interact with. If you wake up Jeff in his chair, you get a slight stat buff! If you are at the outside part of Wigglehouse, Captain Feathersword may come in on his unicycle so watch out! Other characters from The Wiggles shows cameo. Also, sometimes, you will see the Wiggles play in their house in the living room so...when it starts, hit the music notes! If you hit all of them, you get a SUPER STRONG stat buff!

Interstital/Bumper/Mascot Content Stage

Clay's Playroom

maxresdefault.jpg

It's funny that Clay's voice actress, Debi Derryberry also voiced Jay Jay the Jet Plane so...a PBS Kids connection for Clay. Here, we celebrate the first official mascot of Playhouse Disney being Clay as we go into his playroom. You fight on the desk and it has ledges and no walkoffs. Clay will be there to help make creations inspired by various Playhouse Disney shows such as music notes for The Wiggles, circus trampolines for Jojo's Circus, a blue house that is big for Bear in the Big Blue House, etc. Also, he will make stuff for the Disney Junior shows such as a castle for Sofia the First, a horse for Sherriff Callie's Wild West, etc. The various things Clay makes are either hazards that you can use or creations to help you fight. He is sort of an on-stage assist for everyone...if you let your imagination run wild!

Disney Video Game Content Stage

Disney's Animated Storybook Anthology

s-l1200.jpg

I do feel for the Disney video game, we should try and do something that's based on the edutainment titles. The Disney Animated Storybook games were based on the Living Books games so...there's the inspiration there that sort of connects to PBS Kids. You get to choose from the 10 different games as to which story you want to fight on! No matter what story you choose based on the Disney movie, the stage layout is still the same. You fight on a flat surface and you hit the words to interact with the text. If the story narrator tells you to click something, click on it and you will get an item or some stat buff related to said story you are reading for being a good listener! Even if you are following along with the narration and hit the word the narrator is on, you get an item related to the theme of said story! All the narrator's sound clips are from the Disney Animated Storybook games for that nostalgic experience.

I do have a promotional tie-in product for the old-school Disney Interactive games that were educational...stay tuned when the time comes ;)

Fourth insight will come soon, I swear as well as further discussion on the Definitive Edition.

Playhouse Disney Stage

HigglyTown

While I'm TOTALLY ok with having a Bear in the Big Blue House stage (I mean, I really do want that show represented here!), I figured I'd submit a stage from a stage from a Playhouse Disney Show I know the least about!, being HigglyTown Heroes. Layout-wise, it's similar to Onett, a grounded stage with walkoffs with Higglytown's various wacky-shaped building serving as platforms. The buildings can even change for each playthough on the stage!

Disney Junior Stage

Tenoo Jedi Temple (Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures)

Jedi_Temple_Tenoo_YJA_S1E1-min.png

Figured I'd submit a Star Wars stage here. While the show has first released on Disney Plus initially, it still has Disney Jr. written all over it, so I do assume it was originally meant to be aired on Disney Jr. first. The stage can be like Reptar's Ruins from Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2.

Acquired Programming

Chuggington

I am totally fine with the Wiggles, but I did find a non-Disney owned show about living sentient trains that was on Playhouse Disney! Layout-wise, it can be like the existing Island of Sodor stage in-game already, except with the Chuggington trains and taking place on Chuggington, just as a hilarious jab of two competitor shows sharing the same layout by coincidence.

Interstital/Bumper/Mascot Content

Ooh and Aah's Treehouse

These two puppet monkeys became the secondary mascots of Playhouse Disney after Clay's retirement, and like Clay, they'd announce upcoming shows and all those stuff. Their treehouse can be similar to Jungle Japes.

Disney Video Game Content

Disney Sky Hub (Disney Infinity)

Standardbg.png

This stage's layout is.....how do I put it.......is the very definition of randomized-generation! Each time you play the stage, it'll be a huge combination of things you can actually place in creative areas in the game! On rare occasions, it'll be tidy and flat. The stage's sky and theme even changes to the various different Disney themes in Disney Infinity itself, so no two playthroughs of this stage are the same! An extra cool detail in the background of the stage, you can actually see all of the various Disney-Marvel-Star Wars characters making cameo appearances! they can either be just standing still watching the battle, akin to King of Fighters Stadium, or moving all over the background doing iconic actions, akin to Dracula's Castle. In addition to the Disney characters that were playable in the three Disney Infinity games, there can also be characters from scrapped figurines, scrapped content or from the cancelled 4th game! Heck, there can even be a few characters who had made their debut long after Disney Infinity had stopped production altogether! Below is a chart of each Disney Characters' chance of appearing on the stage, from most common to extremely rare! Bold marks unused characters in Disney Infinity initially! Italics marks post Disney Infinity characters! All Disney characters on the stage appear in the Disney Infinity style.

The Playhouse Disney stages will stay open and so will the Definitive Edition poll. However, I forgot to mention that my Learning Book sets for Matthias and Sofia the First, my event matches for Matthias alongside my item for Sofia the First will be added. I will submit other Learning Champion stage forms and Learning Playground stage forms for Matthias's update soon.

Job 572:

Submit episodes to be added to the PBS Kids Archives for the Matthias update. We'll need one episode from Redwall of course. I also feel we should add episodes from Mama Mirabelle's Home Movies, Wimzie's House and Toopy and Binoo since those shows got content in this update. Feel free to submit episodes from shows already represented in this game who got content in this update as well as for the other stuff that just got added. I would say keep the bonus episodes from already represented PBS Kids shows at about 5 or even 6 max as usual.

Job 573:

Since this is the last regular PBS Kids character being added to PBS Kids: Brawltime until the Definitive Edition...

Submit 6 PBS Kids Website games and 4 video games based on PBS Kids shows that should be added to the Archives for this update. The top 5 website games from PBS Kids webpages and the top 3 video games after voting will be added to the Archives!

One/two of the website games and one/two of the video games MUST come from a PBS Kids show represented in PBS Kids: Brawltime! that is NOT represented by a fighter.

Get submitting and use your imagination!

PBS Kids Archives Episodes

Redwall

Found... And Lost

Mama Mirabelle's Home Movies

Spot the Difference/Hot and Cold Running Creatures

Wimzie's House

The Treasure Hunt

Toopy and Binoo

Toopy's Story (and whatever else was included with it on PBS Kids airings)

Sesame Street

Episode 3915

Arthur

Arthur's Treasure Hunt/The Return of the King

WordGirl

Hello New Year, Goodbye Moon/Art in the Park

Bob the Builder

A hypothetical PBS Kids airing of Knights of Fix-a-Lot

Pinkalicious and Peterrific

Peter's Pet/Cupcake Calamity

Dragon Tales

It Happened One Nightmare/Staying Within the Lines

The Redwall episode I chose solely has to do with the fact that it was the one referenced in the first Event Match for him. Any Mama Mirabelle's Home Movie episode works but I chose what works best and what I thought was interesting. Same with the Wimzie's House and Toopy and Binoo episodes. The Sesame Street episode chosen relates to the Hero Guy assist. The Dragon Tales episode relates to the stage, same with the Pinkalicious and Peterrific stage that came with the "Getting Artsy and Crafty" update. The Arthur and Bob the Builder episodes were chosen to stick with the medieval theme of Redwall. Finally, the WordGirl episode chosen sticks with the art theme as...well, most of the content in the Matthias updated dealt with art.

Pinkalicious and Peterrific: Pinkalicious: It's Party Time! (Nintendo DS)

For the website games, Redwall never had a PBS Kids or a PBS Kids-esque website for the show so I added a webpage based on the Redwall website made by Brian Jacques called Redwallabbey.com. I felt we needed a website game based on the Bob the Builder reboot as well as one final Arthur game based on an in-universe video game in the show. The two extra website game slots were given to Toopy and Binoo (who I remember their PBS Kids webpage more than the show) and Mama Mirabelle's Home Movies (where I remember the game on her webpage as well as Toopy and Binoo's webpage).

For the video games, of course I had to add a demo for the upcoming LeapFrog Matthias product. You'll only get to play a few levels though since it is a demo. Also, you get another Redwall game, this time, it's an indie title based on the books...we never had an indie game in the PBS Kids Archives yet. I felt we could add one more Sesame Street game. This time, we get our first Plug and Play TV game (I remember owning some of them as a kid) and I'm surprised no one brought up Plug and Play TV Games in any form. Finally, for our non-fighter game, we get a pre-PBS Kids game for Pinkalicious and Peterrific. Ironically, GameMill Entertainment (the company who published the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl games) also published Pinkalicious: It's Party Time! so how ironic.

I will submit my fourth insight soon (just been busy) but get your submissions in for our current jobs!

Playhouse Disney Stage

The Big Blue House (Bear in The Big Blue House)

View attachment 395221

View attachment 395222

View attachment 395224

View attachment 395225

View attachment 395227

View attachment 395234

View attachment 395235

Rocket and the Little Einsteins (Little Einsteins)

27-272365_little-einsteins-in-rocket-little-einsteins-rocket-ship.png.jpeg

I had to go with something from Little Einsteins as the show is turning 20 next year. We get a vehicle-themed assist here with Leo piloting Rocket with June, Quincy, and Annie in there cheering you on. Rocket and the Little Einsteins will assist you by helping you recover as well as play classical music to give you a stat buff. Even then, Rocket will give you a small item to help you occasionally. However, when the assist meter is full, Rocket can rev up its engine and Leo will go full throttle! When you recover with Rocket, it's like the Fire Fox recovery and will damage anyone in your way! Also, you will gain a super stat buff and super speed (like the presto speed in music) to help you out. If your losing and your assist meter is full, Rocket will give you a SUPER STRONG item once in a while.

Disney Junior Assist

Pip and Freddy (T.O.T.S.)

maxresdefault.jpg

These two delivery birds will help you by delivering you baby shields. The babies act similarly to the Scapegoat card in Yugioh as they will protect you from being attacked temporarily. However, when the assist meter is full, they will give you a bigger shield and even fly you above the stage and be unhittable! Talk about being a bird of a feather here!

Acquired Programming Assist

Vee (Chuggington)

maxresdefault.jpg

Now, it's time for that Chuggington representation and the "controller" of Chuggington can assist and fight against Sir Topham Hatt, heh. For Vee, she will yell "Honk your horns!" once in a while and freeze the other fighters in place for a short while. She is a stationary assist so she can't follow you. However, when the assist meter is full, Vee will give you a special job with an item she gives you. KO a fighter with that item and she will fill you with happy, powerful emotions by being all colorful and give you a traintastic stat buff! She can really care for you just like she does to the engines of Chuggington!

Interstitals/Bumpers/Mascots Assist

ZeFronk (Tasty Time with ZeFronk)

MV5BYWE3MjNjODUtM2RmMi00MjM4LTg5YTYtNjcxNmY4MjBhMjA1XkEyXkFqcGc@._V1_.jpg

I could have gone for a more iconic or childhood-biased pick but...I went with this daschund with a knack for cooking. ZeFronk knows how to cook and will throw you small healing items once in a while! It will take him a while to cook it though. The more you get damaged, the better healing item you will get. When the assist meter is full, ZeFronk will serve you a REALLY scrumptious meal and therefore really heal you. However, he will give the opponents bad leftovers to nerf their stats a little just to give them a sour taste on their tongues.

Disney Video Game Assist

To stick with the art theme we have been having...

Magic Art Tools (Disney's Magic Artist Studio)

sddefault.jpg

I couldn't find anything better so I did decide to be a bit creative here ;) The magic Disney artist studio tools come to life. As you attack, they will work on creating a picture of your fighter, Disney style! Their real function comes out when the assist meter is full and...voila! Your picture is done and will be summoned as a Ditto clone (like the Pokémon) where drawings and paintings come to life like magic! Your clone can be attacked though but in general, double you means you get more chances to get some damage on your opponents! A super handy assist!

The fourth insight will be coming this weekend most likely as well as discussion questions regarding the other Definitive Edition content. Most days, I post the night after work and just want to get out at least one wave of jobs every day before Pop leaves the thread so we can keep the thread going. Hopefully, I've been doing a good job.

Playhouse Disney Assist

Ellyvan (Jungle Junction)

He works like the Kapp'n assist in Smash Bros!, driving into fighters to mount them on his back and carry them to the blast zones from time to time. At full assist meter, he'll place safety straps on the next fighter he gives a ride, preventing them from falling off altogether! Because of this, Ellyvan's assist meter takes longer to fill up compared to other assists.

Disney Junior Assist

Kion (The Lion Guard)

While I believe IkeaInklingMustAbsolutelyHappen had submitted him before as the potential final DLC fighter for PBS Kids: Brawltime!, I feel like he can make use of his special gift and his lion instincts to good use as an assist! Normally, he just prances around, pouncing other fighters and slashing at them with his claw to stay true to his position as the Lion Guard. At full assist meter, if it wasn't obvious enough, he'll use his signature Roar of the Elders! The roar itself is so powerful, that like Ellyvan, his assist meter takes more to charge up than other assists!

Disney Video Game Assist

Mizrabel (Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse)

This witch who looks like an odd merge of Maleficent and the Evil Queen from Snow White after absorbing some of Minnie Mouse's beauty (Though Mizrabel's true form looks like a less creepy version of the Evil Queen's Peddler-Hag disguise) helps out the fighter she is assisting using the various fire attacks she uses in her boss battle in Castle of Illusion!, while also being stationary in the middle of the stage like her boss battle. At full assist meter, she'll fire a series of homing fireballs before forming a ring of fire to circle all over the stage!

Manny's Toolbox (Handy Manny)

9781423115397-us.jpg

I'm resubmitting this from another creation thread I was a part of...that being an idea for a Disney platform fighter that is now inactive. When this toolbox spawns on the battlefield, a fighter can simply go into it and pick up the toolbox. There, the fighter can throw it at someone. Then, once the tool box is thrown, Manny's tools will simply perform handyman work by attacking the fighter they were thrown at. They give about 20% damage and a lot of knockback too. It's a simple but yet uncommon item.

Disney Junior Item

Doc McStuffin's Stethoscope (Doc McStuffins)

s-l1200.jpg

A simply handy item as Doc McStuffins treasures this tool! When using this tool, you can simply place it on an opponent's heart and...they will not be able to attack you. Instead, they will follow you around like a duckling and be forced to assist you. It magically makes your opponent "come to life" like one of Doc McStuffins's toys! It's a very handy item!

Acquired Programming Item

Moe's Invention (The Doodlebops)

maxresdefault.jpg

Now, THIS is a real throwback for me based on an obscurer acquired IP from Playhouse Disney's library. This invention allows people and things to float. So, when getting Moe's invention, you simply attack it to point it at a fighter or item to make that fighter or item float toward you. If it's a fighter, that fighter will be stunned for a short time, not able to move or attack. It'll only work for a short time and it does require a bit of startup to use so be careful!

Interstital/Bumper/Mascot Item

Dance-A-Lot Robot

hqdefault.jpg

When he's on the battlefield, it's time to party! The first fighter to attack Dance-A-Lot-Robot will get him on your side! He simply will dance up a storm based on the dances he has taught kids over the years for a while. Any fighter in his way gets some damage and knockback. However, he is prone to being destroyed due to being a robot so...hopefully, no one thwarts your plan of using him.

Disney Video Game Item

Secret Haunted Keys (Disney Learning Adventure: Search for the Secret Keys)

Screenshot 2024-10-18 at 10.10.57 PM.png

I had to include something from one of the Disney Learning Adventures games. To access this item's full potential, you need to collect all 6 keys. If you get attacked while holding a key, it gets away from you and another fighter can get it. Once you get all six keys, the terror occurs as now...you summon toe Lonesome Ghosts from the mansion Mickey and his friends were trapped in. The ghosts can simply haunt your opponents by mixing up their controls, poisoning them, etc. The ghosts will work in your favor!

Sofia Legacy Skin Prompt

Submit a Legacy Skin based on a Disney IP that got a Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior show. A Disney IP that started as a Disney IP before receiving the preschool show treatment!

Referring to an idea Pop had, we should base one of the Legacy Skins on a Disney IP itself, to be honest. This will still be a cosplay Legacy Skin but with certain rules. There are lots of possibilities for this one, 100%.

Premium Legacy Skin Prompt

Submit a Premium Legacy Skin based on the location where you want the fourth Championship Circuit finale to be held. A two-in-one job here!

Something fun to tie into the real world. A geography/place-based themed Legacy Skin can be fun, depending on where you decide the Championship Circuit finale should be held.

The fourth insight hopefully coming Sunday as well as discussion stuff regarding Definitive Edition content/.

Alright, so I will leave the items job open but here are my other Learning Champion Stage Forms and Learning Playground Stage forms for the Matthias update.

Other Learning Champion Stage Forms

  • Looking for Tools (Basically, it's a longer version of Final Destination but there is a Snake Block-esque platform based on various tools. Occasionally, platforms are "built" with the tools.)
  • Letterland (You fight on the rooftops with platforms similar to the Bowser's Castle stage in Project M/+.)
Other Learning Playground Stage Forms

  • Zula Patrol Headquarters and Spaceship (Same layout but more cosmic hazards are added like asteroids and shooting stars. Occasionally, Dark Truder (if not chosen as an assist) will show up and use his weapons to attack you to give you a challenge!)
  • The Treeborhood (There are now more platforms to give it that tree vibe and even more visitors will throw items to assist you making it a "friendlier" fighting experience!)
Now, time for my fourth insight!

Insight #4

Party Favors and Other Guests: A Look Back at the Initial Collection of Assists and Items

So far, I have covered the general creation of the game, fighters, and stages. Now...we move on to more of the casual side of things that a platform fighter needs for the casual player base, assists, and items! When looking back at when we discussed these pieces of content, we discussed how we should handle both assists and items. The Smash Bros games have had a healthy handling of both those sides of content alongside the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl games having items now. From what I heard, MultiVersus might be adding assist-esque characters. But, the big inspiration for assists came from Fraymakers thanks to Pop's ideas which I agreed with how they functioned. Alongside this, it made sense to have more assists than fighters. We did have specific prompts for assists sometimes like assists from Bookworm Bunch PBS Kids shows, the Preschool Block shows, etc. We were kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel toward the end of the base game creation but...we had a solid mix of modern and classic PBS Kids shows. I must say, the whole idea of assists connects to how most PBS Kids shows as well as other kids shows talk about cooperation and teamwork.

In terms of the assists, the best part for me was adding the obscurer names. Some of my favorites include Aristotle from Adventures from the Book of Virtues, Corduroy himself, Curious George, Chicken Jane (which I found to be a funny assist), etc. I was even surprised we added Kermit the Frog himself as an assist for the base game super early courtesy of Torgo the Bear. Back then, I do remember having an idea for Thomas as an assist but...he works best as a stage so I did regret having Thomas as an assist idea in the first place. Funny enough, I do have a moveset idea in mind if Thomas were to be a fighter keeping true to the original series. I do wish we added my idea for Two from Seven Little Monsters as an assist to kind of getting close to completing the Bookworm Bunch programs represented in Brawltime! but...what's done is done. An overall solid bunch.

Items on the other hand came in plenty as well. I do remember most users wanted the items to be passive rather than aggressive. However, we did have a healthy mix of passive and aggressive items. The best part was...the amount of iconic things that were items like the Tubby Custard Machine, Tubby Toast, Cookies for Cookie Monster, etc. We did have specific item jobs like items from the Bookworm Bunch shows, the Preschool Block shows, etc. My favorite items have to be the items referencing the idents, especially the PBS Kids Racecar and Jack-in-the-Box (I am a sucker for kids channel bumpers, especially PBS Kids). Heck, even throwing in an item like the ZOOM Oven was a fun addition. However, one of the best ideas for items was the original items like the Pyrametalid, Magic Fizzy Soda, Striker-foam-Ball, etc. Pop went out of the box for the original items and I loved that, to be honest. It was nice to stretch our imaginations there. However, I do wish we added items for all the fighters' series like the lack of a Mister Rogers' Neighborhood item stunk (with not many options there) alongside us not adding Dean Fleadle's Meaty Wheat Treats from Between the Lions stunk too. But, the selection we had was one I cannot complain much about. We did add more items post-base game but there's more on that later. With the amount of assists and items in PBS Kids: Brawltime!, everyone would feel truly satisfied.

The next insight will be about the modes in the base game so stay tuned for that as well as upcoming discussion questions regarding the Definitive Edition. Also, the next jobs for content for Sofia's pack will be VERY EXCITING as they will tie into a piece of PBS Kids Archives content for Sofia!

Shake-it! Bottle (Jojo's Circus)

Screenshot 2024-10-21 210556.png

Works like the Special Flag item from Smash Bros. True to the theme of the show, this item is all about having its user be more active by dancing. When picked up, the wielder can press the attack button again to have them do the same dance Jojo and Goliath did with the bottle, and when the wielder preforms the dance successfully without being interrupted, they're either granted an extra point on timed mode or an extra life on stock mode!

Disney Junior Item

Vote-For-Vi Button (Vampirina)
Screenshot 2024-10-21 210605.png

When Vampirina and Poppy were doing a vote in school for who gets to run for class president, Vampirina gave out jumpscaring buttons to those who want to vote for her, while Poppy was giving out muffins to her potential voters. As an item, it works like the Franklin Badge from Smash Bros., the button will practically scare those projectiles away!

Disney Video Game Item

Battle Tank (Tron (1982 Arcade Game))

Screenshot 2024-10-21 210754.png

Appearance-wise, the tank appears in its original retro form, similar to the Boss Galaga item. When picked up and thrown, the tank will travel all over the stage, shooting projectiles along the way in 8 directions, similar to the Sheriff assist trophy.

My other two Learning Champion Stage forms for Matthias alongside my other two Learning Champion Stage Forms. As for assists, Rocket and The Little Einsteins join for Sofia. However, there is a still a tie between Pip and Freddy and Kion for the Disney Junior assist and a tie between the Disney Art Tools and Mizrabel for the Disney Video Game assist. We will have to do a run-off vote here.

For both of those categories, simply put if you want either...

Pip and Freddy

or

Kion for the Disney Junior assist

As for the Disney video game assist, put down if you want either..

The Disney Art Tools

or

Mizrabel

Both can just be included in your posts.

As for the items, Moe's Invention and the Dance-a-Lot Robot are added as items automatically to the Sofia content. However, we still need to decide on a Playhouse Disney item, a Disney Junior item and a Disney video game item. Please vote in the polls above here as well as the Legacy Skin prompts for the sixth Legacy Skin for Sofia alongside our 4th Premium Legacy Skin!

Now...time for the VERY SPECIAL SURPRISE job for the PBS Kids Archives content for Sofia that'll be lots of fun!

Job 586:

As you may remember, back when we did content for Ty Rux, we did crossover episodes between one PBS Kids IP and one PBS Kids Sprout/Universal Kids IP for the PBS Kids Archives. Now....that returns again for Sofia the First where this time, a PBS Kids IP crosses over with a Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior IP! How it works like before is that you can EITHER combine one episode of a Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior IP or one episode of a PBS Kids IP or you can make up your own crossover episode! Describe the crossover episode and the IPs included.

Now, for the real exciting part...

Submit a stage based on the crossover episode! That's right! We are taking a page out of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale where two franchises combine to make one epic crossover stage! Describe the stage's layout, hazards, and/or gimmicks as usual! Make it a special stage.

Job 587:

With that crossover episode stage...submit an item based on the crossover episode you submitted! Make it a special item too as it combines two IPs from two different networks! Describe what the item does as usual!

Get submitting and use your imagination!

Time for a bit of a juxtaposition here between two shows that have had history with Nelvana and have robots in them. Basically, this crossover stars the cast of Cyberchase and the cast of Rolie Polie Olie defending their worlds of Cyberspace and Planet Polie (as well as the galaxy). The Hacker himself has been...well, busy hacking Cyberspace until he recieves some sort of interferred communication between him and Gloomius Maximus, the villain from Rolie Polie Olie: The Great Defender of Fun. After some competitive banter about who is the most evil, they plan to take over the worlds and worlds beyond them! News gets to Digit, Matt, Inez, Jackie, Olie, Billy and the other robots on Planet Polie about their worlds being doomed. This then leads to Digit and his friends meeting Olie and his family and friends and teaming up to stop the evil. Heck, you will get to see the Cyberchase characters in that 2000s CGI alongside Olie and his fellow robots in 2D animation. How cool! They will alternate between Cyberspace and Planet Polie for the action as it is a race against time! They will use their math skills alongside the power of fun and friendship to...save the worlds beyond them.

Crossover Episode Stage

The Matrix Crisis

big-neon-green-number-matrix-v6b9ixlo255ojdmb.jpg

You basically fight in a Matrix-themed background where you start on a flat platform. Then...the layouts change very quickly as the worlds of Cyberchase and Rolie Polie Olie have combined for the worst....they are zany and all over the place. Sometimes, the platforms can even come in and hurt you because of the crazy world Hacker and Gloomius Maximus made...

Sometimes, you may see brainwashed robots from Cyberspace and Planet Polie try and attack you so stay on your guard! Defeat them and...get a super good item!

Crossover Episode Item

CyberGears

hqdefault.jpg

It's basically the gears seen in the Rolie Polie Olie opening but with that digitized effect! These spawn often and you can pick one up. When you do, you get a random effect. It basically can...grind your gears or even cause you to gain some sort of digitized effect like being able to dodge attacks more easily, being able to get items easier, being able to heal heath and "hack" into the game. Rarely, you may even get something like...a SUPER STRONG buff, a SUPER recovery, etc. You are really hacking the game with this item!

As for the assists, I vote for my own (Pip and Freddy and the Disney Art Tools). I feel for the Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior IPs, we should focus on the more original IPs for content compared to stuff based on Disney IPs that were around before their preschool counterpart. The Art Tools assist is just fun, in my honest opinion as well.

PBS Kids/Playhouse Disney Crossover Episode

Marvin the Tap Dancing Horse and Jojo's Circus: A Tale of Two Circuses, and Dancers!

This was inspired from an idea AlteredBeast had when it was first proposed to have Playhouse Disney be the last fighter job category, that being Marvin and Jojo getting together since coincidentally, aside from both having a circus-carnival theme, both their shows revolve around their main protagonist loving to dance. The episode starts with Marvin and Eddie learning the news that someone will be making a guest appearance at Fast-Talking Jack's Carnival, and it seems to be someone from a world they've never heard of before, being a world that seems to look like it was made of clay! In that "clay world", Jojo Tickle is learning her family has been trying out for a travelling circus format, to which Jojo gets nervous about it, since she's used to much of her life in Circus Town. The first location Jojo's family tries to go to is the location of Fast-Talking Jack's Carnival, there, Jojo and Goliath meet Eddie and Marvin. At first, it seemed quite hard for Jojo to get to know people from other worlds, but eventually, Jojo and the all of her family get along very well with Marvin, Eddie and their circus crew and learned that maybe Travelling Circuses don't have to be that stressful after all! In the end, Jojo, alongside Marvin, shares about what she learned about adjusting to new environments and routines, and the two dancing circus performers of course have a dance about it too, along with their friends, Eddie and Goliath!

Crossover Episode Stage

Fast-Talking Jack's Carnival in Circus Town!

What has happened here?! It looks Like Marvin's and Jojo's worlds have been fused together somehow!, creating this new world where Fast-Talking Jack's Carnival lies within the world of Circus Town, in the clay-mation style, that is! Layout-wise, you fight atop a giant circus tent filled with platforms that are jsut toally random in movement and placement and they just make very very random movements, true to the circus theme.

Crossover Episode Item

Face-Pie!

Always a comedy staple at the circus! When thrown at someone's back, it normally just deals damage with the pie sticking to them for a while, but throw it at the front of someone and it becomes stuck to their face! With the pie covering their face, it is harder to see! Their movement gets all scrambled up, analog stick movement is jumbled, button behaviors are mixed up, all for a short time!

One Legacy Skin must be themed around an indirect reference to either a popular video game franchise, anime, or even tokusatsu franchise! The other Legacy Skin must be themed around around a certain point in time in the real world, such as Prehistoric, Ancient Greece, Ancient Egypt, Medieval, etc.

Job 589:

Submit 3 Learning Champion stage forms for stages that come in Sofia's or a guest character's update that are not competitively legal. Thus, that means you CANNOT do Sofia's homestage. Also, we will do 2 other stages from the other guest character's collection of stages so you CANNOT submit a Learning Champion stage form for The D'Struct's Lair and Cave, The Living Volcano and Learning Company Memories.

Job 590:

Submit 2 Learning Playground stage forms for Sofia's update.
We will add about 4 of these stage forms. These are hazard/fun-based stage forms for stages that have competitive-legal stage layouts. You CANNOT submit Learning Playground Stage for the following stages:

  • Tickle Me Land
  • Busterfield Library
  • The Treehouse
  • Buster's Video Postcards
  • Land of Make-Believe
  • PTV Park
  • Zobooland
  • Zula Patrol Headquarters and Spaceship
  • The Treeborhood
Job 591:

Submit a Story Mode chapter for Sofia. Given that she is the last Learner's Pass Vol. 2 fighter, she can get a Story Mode chapter that takes place during the main Story Mode or in the Neon Gaming City. But, since she is a guest character, try to make her Story Mode chapter special. Make it Disney-themed like Pop's idea.

Get submitting and use your imagination!

Matthias Legacy Skins

Book Matthias

ezgif-4-5911946cd7.jpg

You all saw this coming didn't you...yep, Matthias gets a Legacy Skin based on his appearance in the books compared to his appearance in the Redwall TV show. All of his animations are simply done in the artstyle of the Redwall book illustrations. There is not much changed besides his artstyle and the costume making him wear knight's armor. Nothing too special here besides another book-themed Legacy Skin.

Umebura Competitor Olive

600px-Umebura_SP9_allmode.png
Elephant_came_to_Kyoto,_Japan_from_Vietnam_in_1729.jpg

With the whole Neon Gaming City in the Story Mode, I do feel PBS Kids: Brawltime! should get some exposure in Japan and...what better place to showcase it at an Umebura major. I mean, some Japanese Smash players did play the first Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl so they may like PBS Kids: Brawltime! too. To stick with the trend to celebrate the rise of elephants in video games, Olive becomes a competitor at Umebura. Here, we see her wearing a kimono dress with the Umebura logo on the back. She is also drawn and animated similar to elephants in Japanese art. She also gets a special taunt animation where she bows and a special victory animation where she spins around and then drinks some Japanese tea with her trunk. An overall special Legacy Skin.

Japanese Pop Culture Legacy Skin Submission

Chris and Martin the Bug Heroes

1180795.jpg

I thought I would do a Legacy Skin referencing my favorite piece of tokusatsu...Kamen Rider. Chris and Martin are simply the "bug heroes" inspired by Kamen Rider Ichigo and Nigo. Both of them gain the ab-like suits and bug helmets while retaining their colors as the Wild Kratts. They get a special entrance animation where they ride in on a motorcycle similar to the Typhoon, a special taunt animation where they do the Henshin pose and a special victory animation where both brothers perform a kick and punch similar to the Rider Kick and Rider Punch. An overall, fun Legacy Skin.

Time Period Legacy Skin

Elmo the Caveman

sddefault.jpg

This fits into the Prehistoric era as well as the fact that Elmo did initally sound like a caveman in his debut! Plus, it's been a while since Elmo got a regular Legacy Skin. Here, Elmo wears a caveman outfit and a beard similar to the Primitives seen in those Sesame Street segments. Elmo also gets a different voice for this Legacy Skin too! Not much of his animations change but for his Victory animation, he slides down Herb's neck and raises a caveman club! A simple, Legacy Skin too.

Learning Champion Stage Forms for Sofia

  • Wigglehouse (Platforms are similar to Kongo Falls but more condensed but they shift and have a musical-note-esque theme to them)
  • The You and Me Tree (Similar to the initial layout of Isle Delfino where you start, but fixed blastzones and platforms.)
  • Clay's Playroom (Similar to the Fountain of Dreams stage with clay-themed ground and the platforms are Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior themed.)
Learning Playground Stage Forms for Sofia

  • Enchancia Castle (Now, you get to go down to the ballroom and see all the cameos up close! But, you can get in the dancers' way and get damaged so watch out!)
  • Reeftown (I know it's competitvely legal...kind of but I think it is with the hazards off, but with hazards on, sea creatures come from all over and blow bubbles of items onto the stage. The sharks will zoom through and give damage and the jellyfish may sting you on accident. Also, if you use Sofia on this stage in the Learning Playground stage form, a rare appearance from Nemo may happen for another PBS Kids/Disney crossover. If you use Ruff Ruffman on this stage in the Learning Playground stage form, Crush may appear to reference that one Fetch! with Ruff Ruffman episode where Crush appeared.)
I know PopCultureCorn PopCultureCorn has an idea for Sofia's Story Mode chapter so I'll let him get to it. I may submit a chapter idea, I don't think I will as I am on writer's block for the Story Mode. I hope to submit my fifth insight soon as well as pose questions for discussing further Definitive Edition content on Sunday/Monday.

Welp, I've waited a long time for this, so.......with one last time to do this......HEEEEEEEREEE WE GOOOOO!

Sofia Story Mode Chapter

The Disney and PBS Kids Quest for Ever and After!

This Story Mode Chapter takes place after ALL the other story mode chapters before it have taken place. We see all of the other PBS Kids characters doing their usual thing in the Neon Gaming City, playing in esports like events, chowing down on Tubby Ramen, and making good use of all the new technology they have. Meanwhile, in a mysterious dark realm in the Disney universe, a group of Disney Villians were trying out a new Keyblade fused with the powers of a mysterious green entity that has the ability to create portals to other worlds outside of anything Disney, and upon their first use of the Keyblade, they just happened to open up a portal to the neon gaming city itself!

The chapter starts with 5 iconic Disney Villians all walking out of a green portal and onto a remote place of the neon gaming city, where they all look around the place to see what effects has that mysterious keyblade has done to them.

Maleficent: Well, parden me with this surprising thing.........We're now in the middle of some bright place that I don't think ANY of us have seen before......How odd.

Jafar: I suppose that we'll survey this place to see if we can find anything of great interest here

Scar: Ahhhhh.....I'm used to hanging out in shadowy places where I once told my nephew all about! Oh MY, does all this brightness get into my nerves!

Hades: Well, bright as bright as can be, I'm telling you guys, even Zeus isn't really the brightest bulb in the city!

The Evil Queen: Mmmm, quite the interesting place indeed! As long as in THIS world.........

Bystander 1: OH MY! Oh you guys seem new around here! May we provide you all with some directions?

Bystander 2: Wait a minute.....I think I have seen you guys before.....What the heck are you guys doing here?!

Jafar: Oh, just trying to find a way to bring this world into order....

Maleficent: Hush!.......We just happened to come here through a mysterious portal.....

Hades: and THAT was the key on how we got to this world......

Bystander 2: KEY?! Sees keyblade behind Maleficent How did you?! Give that!.....

Bystander 2 tries to claim the keyblade from the Disney Villians, but a fight ensues

Maleficent: Wha, who are you trying to.....let go!

After a while, the keyblade shatters into 6 pieces, and they all fly across the neon gaming city, as they just happened to open portals all over. Furious, Maleficent grabs Bystander 2 with her magic*

Maleficent: NOW look what you've done!

Bystander: Ok.....sorry.....I didn't know that's how you guys got here! I'll try to find someone that could help!

Meanwhile, at a secret Base, Ms. O was giving out the terrible news to a select number of PBS Kids all stars

Ms. O: Well, guys, come close, we've got some kind of VERY unusual disturbance.....normally, I can't trace down sources from unfamiliar world, but this one seems a little familiar......

Big Bird: Something familiar? Well it must be some world I've maybe seen before....What if it could be Kermit!

Curious George was curious, he had never seen such a disturbance coming from another world before.

Arthur: Well, As familiar as this thing might be, maybe we should all check it out!

Dash: I agree, we all should!

Bob the Builder: So, everyone, can we find it?

All: Yes, we can!

Mr. Rogers: Well, this is it, whatever we find out there, we should be all able to able to make some new friends......

Big Bird, Mr. Rogers, Arthur, Dash, Bob the Builder, Curious George and Ms. O all go out to the streets to investigate where those disturbances might have come from, when they all then came across a little princess in a purple dress and an amulet

Big Bird: Woah! A princess! Uhhh, hello, little princess! Where are you from?

Sofia: Oh my! This world looks nothing like my world! I'm sure my amulet didn't bring me here! And where's all my friends?

Arthur: Amulet? Like, what does it do? how did you get here? What is your name?

Sofia: I am Sofia, the crown princess of Enchancia! This isn't Enchancia is it? I just recall falling in a green portal that got me here!

Mr. Rogers: You know, little princess, I remember going through a green portal before, that was before my disagreement with Big Bird that day......but we all sorted it out now, welcome!

Dash: Something about this princess seems familiar......almost like she's from a world that starts with the letter D!

George has never seen a young princess like that before, but he was nonetheless friendly and shook hands with Sofia.

Arthur: So....can we help you find anything?

Sofia: Ohhhh, how do I get home?.....

Ms. O: We'll find a way for you to get home! But first we need to find out this one great disturbance!

Bob the builder: Well, guys and you too, Sofia, can we find it?

Everyone, except Sofia: Yes We.....

Just then, we see see a dark figure of a woman with a fancy crown fly by using a bit of magic she borrowed from Maleficent

The Evil Queen: So....were YOU the guys responsible for holding one of the pieces to that Keyblade?

Big Bird: Keyblade? What are those even for?

Mr. Rogers: Uhhh, I don't know

George was curious as well, he didn't know what a Keyblade is

Ms. O: I don't know, but somehow what she's talking about has something to do with the connection of many worlds.....if we find it, we might be able to get Sofia home.

Dash: Sounds good!

Arthur's Let's go find it then! Should be easier than me finding Pal when he gets lost!

As Sofia (Sofia is the only one playable in for the whole chapter) Big Bird, Mr. Rogers, Arthur, Dash, Bob the Builder, Curious George and Ms. O, you play as them in a simple platforming section that involves needing to dodge some haunted trees and other haunted forest stuff the Evil Queen summons. After which, the Evil Queen is fought in a boss battle in a mix between her normal form, her hag-peddler form and a powerful sorceress. After she is defeated, a piece of the keyblade appears, as well as Bear and the rest of the residents of the Big Blue House

Sofia: Wooo! the Evil Queen sure was a tougher than I thought! No wonder why Snow White fell for her the first time!

Big Bird: Wait.....Bear?! Is that really you?!

Bear: Why yes! It is me, Big Bird! Long time no see! How's things going over in Sesame Street?

Big Bird: Well, I kinda feel sad to say this, but.....Sesame Street is gone......I live in this city now.....What happened to the Big Blue House?

Bear: Oh, Me and my friends were all just resting here until a green portal brought us all here for some reason!

Sofia: Awwww, don't worry Bear, we'll all find a way to get you and your friends back to the Big Blue House! I'm sure Moon would be happy to see you then!

Bear: I bet she will!

Big Bird: Should I also mention that Barney lives in this city too?

Bear: I thought I saw him around.....he went that way!

Sofia: Um, ok?......Whomever that is, anyways.....see you guys!

Sofia goes on her quest to see if Barney was anywhere, but she couldn't for a long time!

Sofia: Oh where am I now? I can't find Barney anywhere!

Sofia's amulet brings over Tiana to assist her a little

Tiana: Worry not, Sofia, just let your brightest light guide you! That's what I did with my Prince Naveen!

Sofia: Well then, Tiana, I'm on my way!

Sofia manages to find Barney in a group that had a pair of men in Green and Blue, a red girl superhero, a group of 3 Wombat siblings and a white cat, all of which were on a Magic School Bus touring trip with Ms. Frizzle

Sofia: Ummmm...Are you Barney?

Barney: Oh hoho! Yes, that's me, little princess! Say, what's your name?

Sofia: Ummm....Sofia

Chris Kratt: Sofia......Oh yeah!

Martin Kratt: Do you happen to communicate with animals at all?

Wordgirl: Well, must be such a pleasure to meet a girl like you!

Malik: Same here!

Zadie: Nice to meet you little princess!

Zeke: Me too!

Sagwa: It would be my pleasure to have you meet the Magistrate someday! I'm Sagwa, local calligrapher of local rules!

Sofia: Haha, nice Kitty! But guys, I need your help to find another piece of that keyblade!

Malik: Hmmmm, I thought I saw a piece fly by.....

Hades: So did I too! Thought I'd fly by too, since I saw a flying bus AND a flying piece! Not to mention a few flying pigs for that matter!

Sofia: Oh you will not touch that piece of the Keyblade, wretched one!

Hades: Oh, I'm not going to....but maybe he will.......

Just behind Hades comes out Darth Vader along with several Stormtroopers to accompany him.

Darth Vader: I sense that you seek the piece of some key, good thing Hades told me that he seeks it more than you guys!

Everyone gasped

Barney: Oh hey look! It's Darth Vader!

Sofia, Kratt Bros., WordGirl, Sagwa: Darth Vader?! Oh!

Zadie: Look, guy in the black suit, that piece of the key is for the princess, it's not for you!

Hades: Oh sorry, I didn't hear you, little furball! We better be off, and only then will we be able to build it back together!

Hades and Vader leave

Sofia: Please guys, you've got to take me to find Vader! and that other tall guy!

Ms. Frizzle: Well everyone off to find Darth Vader we will! Everyone, onto the bus, and as always, Seatbelts Everyone!

Another platforming section starts, this time featuring enemies! Sofia, the Kratt Bros, Barney, WordGirl, Ms. Frizzle, The Wombats and Sagwa will have to make their way fighting Scar's Hyenas and Empire Stormtroopers as well, and oddly enough, First Order Stormtroopers can appear as well, despite no Star Wars Sequel Trilogy stuff really appear in this chapter. Afterwards, a boss battle with Hades pursuits, as Darth Vader watches and occasionally tries to use Force attacks to hinder the battle. and after Hades is defeated, Vader retreats another piece of the keyblade is retrieved, as does the Higglytown Heroes appear

Sofia: Woah! How are things going for you guys over at Higglytown?

Eubie: A green portal brought us here!

Wayne: But I mean Higglytown's going fine!

Sofia: Oh ok, just making sure, see you guys around! I'll keep looking for the rest of that Keyblade!

Sofia then stumbles across the Tubby Ramen shop, where Lionel, Xavier Riddle, Molly Mabray, Elmo a Donkey, and Betsy were all having a great chowdown on all those delicious Tubby Ramen. Sofia is at first worried about interrupting them in the middle of eating, until Snow White is summoned by her amulet

Snow White: Hey, don't be afraid Sofia, You know, when I first met the Dwarves, even I at first was a little scared for a minute, but over time, I started to grow more patient and kind around them!

Sofia: I think you're right, Snow White......Uhhhh....guys?

Xavier Riddle: Woah! I thought it was another customer for a second! Want some Tubby Ramen?

Elmo: elmo loves some Tubby Ramen, you should try some too!

Sofia: No, I'm trying to find a piece of the Keyblade! I have two of the pieces!

Molly Mabray: I thought I saw a piece of something fly by......

Lionel: That must be that key The little princess mentioned!

Betsy: Must be! Say, what's your name?

Sofia: Sofia!

Lionel: Well! Nice to meet you Sofia!

Xavier Riddle: Well, Sofia, since you're here, these are the Teletubbies, say hi to Sofia!

Tinky Winky, Dipsy, La-La, Po: Eh-Oh!

Tom: and this is our Donkey! We think he's lovely.

Tiny: Yes he is!

Scar: Something about a Keyblade I hear?

Sofia: Scar! Oh no you're not getting that piece of the Keyblade!

Scar: Oh why must'nt I? I was tasked by Maleficent to bring the Keyblade to her so we could begin improving this city!

Sofia: Oh no way you guys are gonna model this place into something nice

Scar: Oh it's to DIE for! Anyways, I'm off, come on Shenzi, Banzai and Ed....

Xavier Riddle: I think that lion's after that piece! Sofia, let's go after him!

Tinky Winky, Dipsy, La-La, Po: Eh-Oh!

Another platforming section starts, this time featuring enemies! Sofia, Lionel, Xavier Riddle, The Teletubbies, Molly Mabray, Elmo, Donkey and Betsy will have to make their way fighting Scar's Hyenas, Agrabah Guards and Stormtroopers. Afterwards, a boss battle with Scar pursuits, defeat him to get the piece of the Keyblade. Alongside that appear the Little Einsteins!

Sofia: The Little Einsteins?! Guys! What are you doing here?

Leo: Rocketship just happened to fly through a green portal!

Annie: That he did!

Rocketship shakes and beeps in response

Quincy: Rocketship is telling us we need to get home!

June: We don't know what this place is, but can you help?

Sofia: Of course! I'll find a way, thanks guys!

Sofia rushes off to find a stage show going on where Marvin was giving a usual tap dancing show out in the open. Digit, Ord, Buster, Super Why, the Zula Patrol members, and Olive were all watching with glee. Sofia is worried about interrupting the show, until her amulet summons Mulan.

Mulan: Be brave my little princess, be brave.....

Sofia tries to talk to Marvin, but waited until Marvin was finished with his performance to have her turn to talk

Sofia: Ummmm....excuse me, dancing horse? Can I ask something?

Marvin: Oh my! It looks like we have a new girl in town! and she's a princess!

Digit: Well, my old eyes deceive me not! It IS a princess!

Olive: My oh my, you make a very nice princess!

Buster: My, you sure do!

Captain Bula: Say, where do you come from?

Zeeter: Looks look you're not from here!

Super Why: I thought I heard you speak with another princess earlier! Do you know Princess Presto?

Jafar: I certainly know a princess who once defied every royal order she was given!

Sofia: Jafar! We KNEW you guys wanted to take over this place!

Jafar: And why not, little princess, it's not like this place is something of GREAT VALUE to us!

Iago: Yeah, great value! Soon, we're all gonna be indulging on this city's riches in no time!

Digit: Hey you on the shoulder, Hacker may have tried to take over this city before, but not the level of you guys!

Iago: Oh shut up, shorty! Just you ask Jafar's new friend over here!

Darth Vader shows up again

Darth Vader: I suppose you guys will soon join the empire and the others on this quest to reorganize this city into something special

Everyone: Vader?!

Darth Vader: I find your guys' lack of confidence disturbing......

Sofia: Come on guys, let's all go get that next piece of the Keyblade!

Marvin: Roger that, little princess!

After another platforming section with more of Scar's Hyenas, Agrabah Guards and Stormtroopers, and a new enemy introduced, that being Maleficent's Goons, Sofia, Marvin, Digit, Ord, Buster, Super Why, Olive and the Zula Patrol eventually make it to a boss battle featuring Jafar, where he uses his various magic attacks and Darth Vader assists the villains a second time during Jafar's battle, to which after Jafar is defeated, Darth Vader must be Faught! After both are defeated, Sofia and the others get two pieces of the keyblade, as well as a special visit from Jojo and her friends and family all the way from CircusTown

Sofia: Jojo?! Never thought I'd see you here, but I'm glad you're ok!

Jojo: Yeah, I would say so, I was so scared when that green portal brough me and all my friends and family here!

Goliath: Scared!

Jojo: But I guess I can say everything's safe now!

Marvin: Oh! And maybe someday, you and I can sign a deal with Fast-Talking Jack for you to be the star of a future show of mine!

Sofia: Sounds wonderful, Marvin!, anyways, I've got to find the last piece of the Keyblade so I can send all you guys home!

Sofia goes on to find the last piece as she stumble across Ruff Ruffman, Cheeko, Letterman, Nature Cat and Matthias all trying to discuss how to send those Disney Villians back to where they belong, but before Sofia could have a chance to talk with them, Jasmine is summoned with her Amulet to tell her to finally make the big push to get the last Keyblade piece

Jasmine: Well, Sofia, this is it, only your courage can help you get that last piece and finish the Keyblade!

Sofia: I will, Don't worry, Jasmine

Sofia approaches the four

Ruff Ruffman: My oh my! We got another guest!

Matthias: What are you doing here, princess?! This is a private meeting!

Ruff Ruffman: No it's not, We really needed her help!

Cheeko: Sure we did! We can't just take on all those evil forces alone!

Matthias: Oh, well, sorry, my huge salutes to you, fairest princess.....

Nature Cat: Oooh la-la!, you sure are the fairest, young one!

Letterman: Uuuuh, guys, we've got another problem up above, U-P, up!, look up!

Everyone looked up to notice that approaching the neon gaming city from above, and just close to the surface, was none other than.....

Aldnds3.png

Cheeko: Flying PIG JEEPERS, WHAT IS THAT?!?!

Nature Cat: Look at the size of that thing!

Ruff Ruffman: I see, though I must tell you guys, that is no moon!

Matthias: I never thought folks in those ages would be able to build something that big.......

Sofia: I think Maleficent must be behind this! Come on guys, Let's go find her!

Ruff Ruffman: Alrighty then!

The final platforming section is the hardest of them all, with more enemies and more platforming challenges, Maleficent is fought at the very end, and she is incredibly strong! She can use vine attacks, use strong magic, and send out her goons into battle. She can also teleport all over the place as well. After her defeat, the last piece is retrieved and the Keyblade is complete!, but not before all 6 Disney Villains coming together to stand ground.

Sofia: Well guys, you might as well surrender, I finished this fight with all my courage and I have proved that good has won over evil, stay away from thaty Keyblade!

Jafar: You DARE challenge the great power of us?!

Hades: With that, we can produce a new KEY to the city!

The Evil Queen: We will do as we must......

Sofia: No......ask them if you guys can......

All of the PBS Kids Playable roster (with the exception of Hacker, Ty Rux and the Cluefinders) as well as all the Playhouse Disney characters Sofia met on her journey all stood behind her to prove that Sofia has built a great friendship with them all and that Sofia deserves to set things right

Darth Vader: Well, all of this is too much for me, I must report back to base to set all those things myself!

Darth Vader just leaves the other 5 villains

Scar: VADER!!!

Maleficent: Forget him, he wasn't even that good to us anyway.

Sofia: Well, this is your last chance guys, surrender or face true defeat!

All the villains make battle stances as they won't give up that easily, but then Cinderella is summoned by Sofia's Amulet as well as Olie Polie and his family were there to encourage Sofia and the PBS Kids all stars to make the push in the final battle for victory!

Cinderella: Show these villains the same way I showed my Stepmother that evil triumphs over evil!

Olie Polie: You got this, Sofia!

Zowie Polie: Go go go, Sofia!

The final battle pits Sofia and all the other PBS Kids all stars in a gauntlet featuring all 5 Disney Villains Sofia and the others had fought before! All of this is done under the looming doom of the Death Star! After all the villains are defeated, a cutscene plays where Sofia uses the Keyblade to open portals to send all the Disney Villains back to where they belong! There was just one problem.

Sofia: Well....how are we going to open a portal big enough to hold THIS thing?

Sofia looks at the Death Star, just before Captain Marvel shows up to say that she'll help Sofia

Captain Marvel: I could offer a hand here!

Sofia: Alright, mighty one! Come on everyone, I'll help you all join me as you all give me the power to push that giant round thing back to where it belongs!

With one final push, Sofia, Captain Marvel, the PBS Kids All-Stars, including Hacker (Ty Rux and Cluefinders appear here only as loosely shaped light silhouettes, the Playhouse Disney All-Stars that Sofia ha met, including Handy Manny, as well as ALL the Disney Princesses join together in one epic final push to push the Death Star back to where it belongs! Sofia, using her Amulet to conjure the ULTIMATE power, glows yellow as do all the others hat makes them float towards the Death Star.

Sofia: Alright everyone, UNITE AND PUSH!!!

Sofia and the others pushed the Death Star with all their might, as Sofia circles the Keyblade in circles to form a portal big enough for the Death Star to fit in, after a while of pushing, the Death Star finally went into the portal, but it still needed someone to absolutely push it back to its rightful spot!

Captain Marvel: It's still not enough!

Big Bird: Well, this is finally my chance to be a superbird!

Mr. Rogers: and this is my chance to show the world......well.....what a great place it has been. ^^

With one final, FINAL push, the three managed to push the Death Star though the portal and into its rightful spot just in time for it to be blown up by the rebels

Meanwhile, back at the Neon gaming city......

Sofia: Well, that sure was a very wild ride, and the day is saved.....

Buster: yep, Victory for all of us!

Everyone cheered

Elmo: Elmo loves big victories!

Xavier Riddle: Wait, where's Big Bird and Mr. Rogers?!

Big Bird and Mr. Rogers appear out of nowhere

Big Bird: Ooh, I must say, that was pretty scary.....but we did it!

Mr. Rogers: We barely survived, Big Bird, but at least now we can all be at peace that peace has returned to the city......

Later, Sofia and the rest of the Playhouse Disney characters were walking towards a green portal that will lead them towards where they all live. All the PBS kdis all stars stood in front of them, trying to hold back their tears waving good-bye to all those Disney characters.

Wordgirl: So I.....guess this is good-bye then?......

Sofia: Yeah, I must say so......I don't know if I'll ever come back to this land........but hey, at least remember our great victory we all had on this wonderful day!

Bear: Yeah, it was so much fun too!

Jojo: We sure showed all those bad guys that good will triumph over everything!

Olie Polie: and hey, maybe some of us WILL come back to this city to pay a visit sometime!

Annie: You can say that again

June: We sure will be able to see you guys another day!

Rocketship agrees too

All the Disney characters walk through the portal and back to their worlds at last

The scene cuts back to all the PBS Kids characters having new and fun activities and stuff back at the neon gaming city

Narrator: So as you can see, on this day of massive victory, our residents of the neon gaming city have all found new ways to bond together and find new ways to solve even their deepest problems. To this day, they all still miss the Disney characters they all met on their journey, but who knows what new adventures will take them in? Who knows.....what new challenges will show up for them in the future?

A green portal appears above Wordgirl and Xavier Riddle, who were both chatting on a bench

Sofia's voice: Hey......wanna....drop by?

The End

During the credits, two mid credits scenes appear, one featuring Big Bird talking with C3PO and R2D2 about Big Bird's adventures with Sofia, much to the two droids' astonishment, and the second one being......

Bystander 2: Ohhhhhh.....

Bystander 1: Oh my! You're ok! You're ok!

Bystander 2: Well, glad that's all over!

Bystander 1: Yeah, I'm sure glad things didn't take a turn for the worse. Come on! Let's go find if there are any more big secrets like that out these. Who knows, maybe we could stumble upon a slime mountain! no, maybe a giant shing castle! I dunno.....

WHEW! That might just be the LONGEST story mode chapter there is! Basically, I wanted it to be a celebration of everything Disney and PBS Kids. I wanted to give the story mode a fairly good send-off after all.

Alright, so since I'm still quite early, I might as well submit my reveal trailer idea for Sofia, so here goes! One Last Time!

Sofia Reveal Trailer

The Key to the Fight City and a Journey's Well End!

The "Ja-Na-Na-Na, Joink!, PBS Kids!" is heard in a slightly lower pitched undertone, signaling the end of the road draws near, just before the PBS kids logo has its light goes out, also signaling the end.

The Trailer starts off with a montage of EVERY PBS Kids: Brawltime Fighter released up to this point, base game to the free post-launch fighters and Learner's Passes volumes 1 and 2, and just after the montage, we see another montage of every character reveal trailer all sped up very, very fast, until it cuts to a view of a top hat in a dimly lit room in front of a screen showing a flaming-green version of the PBS Kids Logo. Out of the hat pops the ever-reoccurring iconic Announcer Bunny, who looks around his surroundings, looking nervous and quite somber before making his speech.

Announcer bunny: AAAAAAAA-Nouncer Bunny here to tell you all that as of this very day, we find all our PBS Kids All Stars in this rather dark and strange place! Currently we don't know why they're all paying so much attention to that giant flaming PBS Kids logo in the background, but at the moment, there seems to be some very strange force in front of them that's waiting to be Unlocked! Without further ado, let's go and check on our PBS Kids fighters, shall we?

The view than cuts to the giant flaming PBS Kids logo with all of the playable fighters, excluding Ty Rux and the Cluefinders, but it does include some alt characters, like Dash's sister, Dot, standing there watching in astonishment and dismay as the flaming PBS Kids logo goes out, causing all of the PBS Kids all stars to become frozen like statues!

Just then, Dash is magically brought out of his statue form as he notices a green flame in the distance and walks towards it. On his way towards the flame, he stops at a few of the frozen PBS kids characters to check on if they're ok and even bonks them very lightly a little, but they wouldn't budge in the slightest. Dash especially gets concerned for his sister, now that she's still as a rock.

As Dash finally approaches the green flame up close, he starts to reach out his hand towards the flame, but then pulls back his arm in a jiffy ,as if he's a little worried of what might happen if he even touches it. On his second attempt, he finally manages to grab on to the green flame as he then threw the green flame almost like a boomerang, and once it reached a certain point above, the flame revealed itself to be a Keyblade, which unlocks a Giant Keyhole that brings in a young girl princess lying on her back as she slowly drifts into the scene. After which, all of the other PBS Kids characters are freed!

Sofia: Woah! Well, pardon me! How did I even get here? Surely, it wasn't my Amulet.....

Dash: Nah, don't worry, little princess, I just brought the key over here so you could join in! Thanks for freeing all my friends BTW

Sofia: Heh heh, well, it was my greatest pleasure, I'm sure glad to see you all!

Introducing Sofia the First! (Sofia stands next to the text which is in the PBS Kids font while Announcer Bunny says "Sofia the First?! We've got Disney on-board?!")

Footage of Sofia is shown as she first uses all of her moves that don't use Disney Princesses as the Announcer Bunny makes some fun commentary on the action that's going on. Later on in the trailer, as the surprise for Sofia's moveset, we do see Sofia use the attacks that use the Disney Princesses, much to the amazement of the Announcer Bunny, who makes all sorts of really excited comments about how all the Disney Princesses are here and even makes jokes about how Disney even agreed to let Sofia use characters from their animated movies in the game. The montage ends with Sofia activating her final smash like attack, but cuts away before we see all the Disney Princesses appear.

The Trailer ends with Sofia and Dash both holding hands with each other as all the other PBS kids fighters look at the two with great joy and ecstasy as they all have faces welcoming Sofia to the club.

The PBS Kids Brawltime logo shows up, followed by the copyrights screen that fades to black afterwards.

After that, 3 silhouette shaped like monkeys, one is an ordinary monkey, a superhero monkey and a cyborg looking monkey as well as some balloons are seen slamming down onto the PBS Kids fighters below, especially Sofia and Dash. All the PBS Kids fighters, including Dash and Sofia, look up in surprise before it cuts to black.

Announcer Bunny: Wow! That SURE was quite the BLAST seeing how all those fighters have unlocked the gates to a Disney fighter! They really made this moment LOCKED into the history of PBS Kids: Brawltime! as a WONDERFUL finale! But who exactly were those 3 monkeys that ambushed our PBS Kids heroes anyway?...........

Yep, this is more or less a recreation of Sora's reveal trailer for Smash Bros. Ultimate! I know it's not the most exciting thing, but I just couldn't help myself!

Anyways, due to the 3 post rule in the creation thread rules, I think I'll have to wait for someone else to make a post before I can post my 3rd and final insight, as well as a handful of my cut/unused content for PBS Kids: Brawltime!

Alright so for the Legacy Skins for Matthias, all of mine will get it. As for Sofia's Story Mode Chapter, Pop's will get in alongside my stage forms for the Sofia update. For the crossover special, mine won the poll so my content and crossover special will be added to general content so yay for me! Now, onto the next few jobs and a discussion round.

Job 592:

Submit six DLC event match ideas to come with the update for Sofia the First. Similar to the past two bonus fighters and the other Learner's Pass fighters, I feel the events should be focused on the content that comes with her. So, any event can involve Sofia herself, the assists that come with them, stages, items, etc. The sixth event could be another Dash's PBS Kids World Tour or something like that.

Job 593:

PBS Kids Archives submissions are still open for Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior content for the Sofia the First update. This will also include...a CROSSOVER WEBSITE GAME. You get to pick 1 PBS Kids IP and 1 Playhouse Disney IP and mesh them together in an awesome crossover website game. Submit your ideas for that stuff!

Job 594:

Submit a new mode to be showcased with the Sofia the First update at the fourth Championship Circuit finale. Preferably this mode can be a single player or multiplayer mode.

Discussion Round:

Regarding the definitive edition, how should we go about content aside from the 4 additional fighters? How should we deal with stages, assists, items, etc.? Most importantly, what content should be in an ULTIMATE PBS Kids: Brawltime! Definitive Edition Collector's Edition?

Regardless, get submitting and discussing and use your imagination!

I will pass on Event Matches for now (may submit tomorrow if time allows) as it is getting a bit late for me and yes...writer's block strikes again and I may submit PBS Kids Archives stuff soon but Pop got me covered...a crossover website game from me for the Archives now...

Barney and Friends and Bear in The Big Blue House: Cha-Cha Treehouse Dance Party

bear_and_barney_by_maxjacksonhk_dcfhowa-fullview.jpg

Given Barney and Bear are canonically friends, why not a game involving Barney, Bear and their friends having a dance party? You get to play songs from Barney and Friends and Bear in the Big Blue House and you get to make them do fun dance moves by clicking dance buttons! It's not too complicated of a game but hey...let's end things off on a nice dance party! It's your fun 2000s-esque flash game dance party.

New Mode for Sofia

E-Sports Arena Showdown

hq720.jpg

Similar to Master and Crazy Orders from Super Smash Bros for WiiU, you get to partake in the Neon Gaming City's E-Sports Arena Showdown. Here, you compete in a gauntlet of challenges on your own based on difficulty. These challenges range from fighting certain characters with certain crtieria, completing an Event Match in a certain time, completing a Story Mode boss in a certain time, etc. You choose your challenge by selecting a path and you go from there. If you complete the challenge, you get points. Complete as much as you can within the time limit and win cool in-game banners and swag! What happens to you is up to your fighting spirit!

Definitive Edition Content

Besides the 4 characters, I have given some thought to the other content of the PBS Kids: Brawltime! Definitive Edition.

  • As far as the other PBS Kids shows not represented, I do want to try and cram in as much PBS Kids history as we can to be honest.
  • For stages, we will have 4 new homestages and potentially a few extra...one BIG thing I want to do is a finale stage to wrap things up.
  • For items, if a fighter comes from a new series, we add an item from that series. We can add in other items too, amount to be decided like stages.
  • Assists, same thing with the items. More assists can be added, amount to be decided.
  • We can add a new mode like the Network Domination mode like Cyborg Sun Cyborg Sun posed a while ago.
  • I do feel we should add EVERY bit of PBS Kids website history to the Archives so...a big update there can work. We can discuss about it then. Heck, we can even do some sort of big crossover episode with the PBS Kids IPs in the game if we want to or something...
  • For Legacy Skins, we can make a "Thank You" Legacy Skin for all 40 fighters or do something different. But...all past Legacy Skins and even the Sponsorship ones will be in the Definitive Edition.
As for the Collector's Edition of the Definitive Edition, you get the following goodies to give you the SUPER VIP treatment:

  • A copy of the game
  • A poster with all 40 fighters on it
  • A CD of the soundtrack from the game
  • A steelbook
  • An artbook of the characters, stages, assists, etc. that's updated to reflect everything and even some unused content.
  • Retro-inspired instructions manual
  • Collectable statue of the PBS Kids: Brawltime! logo
  • Pins, patches, stickers, and a tshirt
  • Retro N64-inspired cartridge USB Drive for storage and a digital PC copy of the game
  • An anthology book of the history of PBS Kids as well as the other kids media outlets covered and the edutainment companies
  • Other posters including one with all 40 fighters in the Neon Gaming City with the various edutainment mascots who got free updates in the game like VPal, Leap, Frankie, etc. alongside a poster with every Legacy Skin on it as well as a "Thank You" poster with all the logos of the various sponsors for the PBS Kids: Brawltime! Championship Circuit and the edutainment companies who made content/tie-in products
  • The PKES seen in reveal trailers with the cartridges of various games seen in various characters' reveal trailers
  • A replica of Announcer Bunny's hat with an Announcer Bunny puppet
This would literally cost you a fortune but...the golden goose here for PBS Kids fans

I must say, I do agree with ALL of AlteredBeast's ideas for a Definitive Edition of the game, even if I'll be gone by then... :(

Welp, I was REALLY hoping to do more of these, but here's my third and final insight, regarding the story mode! This one's pretty brief, sorry to disappoint, but it is rather an interesting one that I feel needed to have the tale told out there

Insight #3: Learning with P-iBB-yS Kids on the journey through subspace and all the way to the ultimate fight!

So the story behind the story mode for the game is rather quite the throwback just talking about its history. I all started back in 2022, when we did a job proposing the plot for PBS Kids: Brawltime!'s story mode. AlteredBeast's initial idea was that there was a disturbance in the PBS Kids Multiverse, and the starter fighters of the mode, Dash and Dot, must find out what is causing all those PBS Kids worlds to get mixed up and eventually discover a greater evil behind all of it. As cool as I thought it was, I thought that that was just generic and something you'd find in any shovelware game out there, no offense to AlteredBeast, but I just thought it wouldn't be interesting and engaging enough. Thankfully, that's where MY idea for a PBS Kids story mode plot comes in, something that I thought was far more interesting and engaging than what AlteredBeast had come up with, and more unique. It was around Halloween of 2021 when we were introduced to a horrific, messed-up nightmare of a crossover animated concept called Learning with Pibby posted on the adult swim YouTube channel. (Could you believe that was almost exactly 3 years ago? Man does time fly!). As time went on, adult swim persisted they have no plans to actually turn Pibby into a full show, much to the very, very popular demand of fans, and sadly, as of the time of writing this post, adult swim had basically dashed any hopes of Pibby becoming a full show, much to the creator's dismay. Though when the story mode job prompt came up, that was the moment I took a look at Pibby and I thought...."If this won't become a show, then I will use that opportunity to fully expand on the idea!", just, with less of the horror and mature elements of course

If you ever thought PBS Kids: Brawltime!'s story mode plot was inspired from this, yes it was. Art credit: Dan Animation.
Once we actually started writing the story mode chapters, I was basically inspiring a lot of them based on what happens during that one short. In the beginning, the PBS Kids characters get consumed by the Anomaly, a giant purple blob that just enslaved those it captures, and throughout the course of the story mode, the Anomaly consumes more and more PBS Kids characters until it gains ultimate power. Clearly, the similarities to Pibby are there, just done in a more.....family-friendly setting. The rest of the story mode chapter moments were pretty much inspired from Subspace Emissary and World of Light in the Smash Bros. games. For example, the first fight pitting Big Bird against Mr. Rogers was similar to how Kirby and Mario were pitted against each other in the beginning of the Subspace Emissary, as well as near the end, all the PBS Kids characters get sucked into the Anomaly's purple void which is akin to the Subspace itself. In the end, thanks to the power of friendship and teamwork, all the PBS Kids fighters were able to defeat the Anomaly and they all lived happily ever after in the Neon Gaming City, so, happy end, I guess.

Speaking of the Neon Gaming City, that ending was inspired from the fact that I wanted to see how cool it would be if Kids Shows characters had moved on from their fully education ventures aimed at very young children to living in a world filled with things that's popular with hardcore gamers, just my way of giving them more of a modern edge, but still, I'm proud with what I had come up with.

On a side note, I did NOT expect AlteredBeast to give the Anomaly a backstory, where it was born out of LetterMan's arch-enemy, Spell-Binder's lust for power, and yet, I loved it.

Ok....regarding my cut/unused content, it's also pretty brief, but here were some of my ideas......

Characters:
Buddy (Dinosaur Train):
This was one I honestly was surprised didn't get in, considering his show was by the Hey! Arnold creator. I envisioned him to have a Yoshi style move set. It's just kind of a shame his representation was minimal.
Jet: Ready Jet Go! was also by the Hey! Arnold Creator, and like Buddy, I was surprised him and Buddy didn't get the slot, considering how many Hey! Arnold characters were playable in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.
Luna (Let's Go Luna!): I mean, we have a Joe Murray created character in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, so it surprised me we didn't get the one here.

Stages:
Elwood City: Just wanted to come up with a more interesting and unique stage idea for Arthur
Epic Mickey stage: To coincide with the Rebrushed version of Epic Mickey which come out recently, but I felt a Disney Infinity stage opened up the possibility for more creative stage layouts. also, it's fun to bring back something from an essentially dead game franchise.
The Foolish Magistrate's Palace: While some else may have thought of that too, like Elwood City, I wanted to find something more unique for Sagwa.

Sponsors:
Cup Noodles: When we first did sponsor jobs, one of the first ones I thought up of was a company that produces ramen. Between Cup Noodles and Maruchan, I ultimately chose Maruchan since I felt they were more iconic and their name didn't sound so obvious, as odd as that reason was.
Domino's: Like Cup Noodles, I chose Papa John's over Domino's since they had a bigger history with sponsoring game tourneys and the like.
Paqui: I believe I considered it at one point, but due to a recent controversy that I really will not get into here and the fact that it's not being sold anymore, I will not speak more about it.

Edutainment Companies
Software Mackiev
: If I had been given one more chance to add one of these, it's be Software Mackeiv. This was actually one I had thought over my original idea, Edmark
Edmark: Got replaced with Software Mackiev
School Zone: Just an old time edutainment company I thought about once, but it never got into full

I'm just posting this one early because I have to go to an event later today.

Well, I figured that my time has come. Over the course of the past two years, this project had been honestly a ton of fun to work with, contributing to all the character jobs, the stages, the movesets, the game modes, the story mode chapters, the sponsors, the edutainment companies, the reveal trailers, the assists, the items, the legacy skins, the event matches, the archives content, to anything in between! My dedication to this thread started out of my epiphany for whatever was the most random media company to receive a platfighter, and as time passed, my groove for it got more and more. Eventually, it was true that my activity on the thread was shown to be of diminishing quality and not to the results I had always hoped. Frankly, nowadays, it has already become a chore for me to sit down and contribute to all of the jobs we were doing, and it also frankly got overwhelming to me due to how bloated the scope/vision had become for it.

I don't want to sound like I mean any offense, but I am still very grateful for what I was able to contribute here, and what has been done for it. I was able to share most of my original and unique ideas for a PBS Kids platfighter that possibly, no one else had, like Sagwa's and Sofia's story mode chapters, or just the plot of the story mode as a whole! A can have a great appreciation for what I had accomplished here, but TBH, that's also kind of the reason why I'm ready to leave this thread. This is mostly because for a long time, I had been wanting to depart my presence here on SmashBoards and other Social Media platforms for quite some time now, but I wanted to feel "complete" on something on the internet before I could do this. With Sofia being technically the final DLC fighter before Definitive Edition content, rather than let things drag on for me to the point of great mental fatigue and just activity on this thread getting in the way of my stuff nowadays, I will proclaim that I feel like my work here on this thread is officially complete. I know it all sounds kinda cheesy, but bottom line, with the pre-DE content for PBS Kids: Brawltime complete, I can finally heavily reduce my presence on the internet and go on to next ventures, focus more on my job. I'm ready to move on. I must focus on what's important to me in my life, it's how it is, unfortunately

AlteredBeast did say that it will be really hard for me to just leave this thread, since it won't be the same without me, and to be frank, it will be hard for me too. For most of the time on this thread, I was the only other contributor, and I managed to stick around to the DLC, unlike most other users here. That is, until Cyborg sun joined in the fun, and....not to sound like I'm selfish or anything, but with Cyborg Sun's presence here, I kinda feel like this thread is still in good hands for DE content, even while I'm not around anymore.

With all of that being said, I would like to thank every single user who's ever made contributions to this thread over the years, even if AlteredBeast is probably the one to be saying that, lol, but I am still very grateful regardless. Yes, like I said, it will be hard for me and for AlteredBeast after my departure from this thread, but honestly, who knows, I could always come back to this thread someday and reminisce how fun it was to contribute stuff to it. I don't see that happening in the next year or so, but you can always have peace that, I'll always be there on this thread, and all the fun memories I had with it. It's just, I feel like it's time for me to leave this thread, and most of the internet, for good, since I feel like I had fully accomplished what I wanted to do on this thread, and with my family trip overseas coming up, I feel like I would rather focus myself on working towards my future life goals than continue to be doing what I had been doing here, it's what is for the best of me.

To try to end my presence off here with a high note, enjoy a special good-bye photo group I made below featuring the ENTIRE roster of PBS Kids: Brawltime! fighters as they all are about to celebrate a great Halloween. With my final contribution to the thread in place, it is time for me to say....

Good-Bye! Have a Happy Halloween and.....See you on the Flipside! Brawl on!

This is PopCultureCorn......signing off......
