Resubmitting the Velvet Room. It’s the franchise’s most iconic location and represents the series as a whole. It just Makes Sense to include as our second Persona stage.
Job #196: The Velvet Room

View attachment 326420

The Velvet Room is the single most recurring location in the Persona series. It is a place that exists between dream and reality, mind and matter. Although the Velvet Room takes on a different form from game to game, it is always hosted by Igor and one of his many assistants. The main goal of the Velvet Room is to help out the protagonists in their journeys, mainly in the form of summoning and fusing Personas for them. Being the one central location that shows up in every game, I can’t think of a better stage to represent the series as a whole than the Velvet Room.

To fit with the malleable nature of the Velvet Room, the stage will change shape over the course of the match and take the players through every incarnation of the Velvet Room throughout the series. Each version of the Velvet Room will feature a different layout and cameos from Igor’s various assistants.

OG Velvet Room (Persona 1 & 2) - The stage starts in the original Velvet Room, which is just a simple room with velvet carpets and curtains covering the background. In the background is the Velvet Room’s ever-present host, Igor, sitting at his desk. By his side are Belladonna, Nameless, and the Demon Painter. This part of the stage is very simple, just being a flat room with not much going on in the way of gimmicks. Also if Aria of the Soul is playing, Belladonna will be shown performing the song.

The Elevator (Persona 3) - The Velvet Room then takes the form of an ascending elevator. Igor is now accompanied by Elizabeth and Theodore. The stage becomes more vertical in layout and features various platforms. Because of the elevators constant ascension, the players won’t be able to jump as high in this part of the stage.

The Limousine (Persona 4) - After the elevator, the Velvet Room takes the shape of a constantly moving limousine. Margaret and Marie now join Igor in the background. The stage returns to a more horizontal layout, but now features a ceiling which makes it easy to bounce opponents off of.

The Prison (Persona 5) - Finally, there’s the prison. Igor is now joined by Caroline and Justine, who are in charge of the two guillotines at the sides of the stage. They will periodically drop the blades of the guillotine, and if someone gets caught in it, it’s going to really hurt.

Job 195:
TV World/Midnight Channel (Persona 4)

1650565822271.png

Midnight Channel is a main location from Persona 4 and it's a pocket dimension where you get sucked into TV when it's 12:00 at night (Midnight) and you end up in yellow space that looks like television studio. If you played Persona 4, then you know what's going on with the Midnight channel.

The layout consists of flat hard platform like KoF stadium and it has additional 2 soft platforms hanging on girders on each side. The texture is similar to Mementos due to having small TV screens on one of platforms.
The cameos are Yu Narukami, Teddie and Chie watching fighters fighting in TV world.

Errrrrr.....on second thought, it might be a little too much to do all 3 at once. I tried to speed up the process, but thinking over it, doing it this way would actually be pretty bad for the distribution of future jobs. If yall don't mind, I'm gonna sort of restart this and do one at a time. We'll start with the highest-voted one:

Job #195: Submit a Persona stage

insert persona-themed epic funny zinger

Here are our picks:

Velvet Room ( OrpheusTelos OrpheusTelos )
Midnight Channel ( Tankman from Newgrounds Tankman from Newgrounds )

Here's the poll:

And here's something to keep us busy:

Job #196: Submit a reveal trailer for Arle

That's right! I've taken your feedback into consideration, and after weighing my options, I've decided that the next character to be revealed and the first one after the intitial reveal will be Arle! This is a character who should be able to get people hyped and keep our momentum up, while also separating our game a bit more from the All-Stars games. Probably also just one of the bigger characters who weren't in the first reveal. So yeah! Put forward your very own pitch for Arle's reveal!

Also, as we do these, I'd like to get continued feedback on the kind of characters we should do afterwards because I am clueless with this lol

Here's an Arle trailer. I'm not as much of a diehard Puyo nerd as some of the other folks in this thread (only played Puyo Puyo Tetris and bits of Tsuu), but hopefully I was able to do her justice.

Job #196: Arly Trailer

The trailer opens on the Spaceship Tetra in what seems to be normal Puyo Puyo Tetris gameplay. Arle and Tee are locked into an intense Puyo Puyo/Tetris battle, with Arle getting a massive chain and stacking massive piles of garbage blocks on Tee’s side. Before Arle can claim victory, their match is interrupted by the Tetra preparing to make an emergency crash landing in another world. Everyone on the Tetra is panicking while Tee orders everyone to stay calm. As he and O try to steer the ship and figure out what’s going on, the screen fades to white as the ship warps into another dimension.

Meanwhile, we cut to Dr. Eggman, Orbot, and Cubot inside the Death Egg polishing large containers of Puyos that they just happened to come across. Eggman declares that once he’s able to transform these “Mean Beans” into an unstoppable robot army, he’ll make up for his embarrassing defeat in the last trailer and dominate the rest of the Battle of AGES cast. Orbot makes a snarky comment about how Eggman couldn’t come up with a better name than Mean Beans, which initiates a heated argument between the three about what a better name for them would be. While the group are debating over the doctor’s naming conventions, the Spaceship Tetra crashes through the window of the Death Egg and lands in the center of the Puyo containers. Arle and the rest of the gang exit the spaceship to see what world they’ve ended up in this time. Eggman bemoans the sudden arrival of these strangers and how his plans seem to always be foiled by teenage girls falling out of the sky these days. Arle asks what the doctor is doing with all those Puyos, and Eggman insists that they’re called Mean Beans before re-explaining his plan to create a robot army. Of course, Arle doesn’t take too kindly to those plans and challenges the doctor to a Puyo Puyo battle, but not before giggling about Eggman's dedication to his new name for the Puyos. He accepts the challenge to a Mean Bean Brawl and the two lock eyes.

We then cut to gameplay accompanied with the Puyo Puyo medley as background music, starting with Arle’s entrance animation on the Death Egg. She performs her jab combo on Eggman before using her dash attack. We then see Arle on the Green Hill stage performing her down taunt, in which Carbuncle runs around Arle. We then see some more gameplay of Arle showing off her various spells and unleashing them against other fighters. There’s a particularly large emphasis placed on her Diacute special, which allows her to build up chains with her other spells before unleashing a powerful Judgment Rush. She holds up a peace sign and winks after unleashing the devastating attack.

The trailer then moves on to a shot of Satan’s Tower, showing off the background with the classic Puyo sprites. We see some gameplay with Arle against some of the other fighters, garbage Puyos pelting the combatants and chipping away at their health. During this match, Tee offers to step in and help Arle out. His assist is summoned in-game and Tee declares that it's "my time to shine!," stacking Tetrominoes onto the stage and causing a massive explosion with a Tetris. Arle then unleashes her All Star Move, Bayoen, on Dr. Eggman. After trapping him in a trail of flowers and causing them to explode, we cut to the Battle of AGES logo.

Afterwards, Eggman and his robot companions are seen lying defeated on the floor, glass containers broken and not a single Puyo remaining. We then cut to Sakura, Sonic, Ryo, and Ulala fighting at Green Hill before Arle teleports in and falls on her hands and knees. Sonic helps her up and asks if she's here to join the fight. Arle simply nods and says that she's ready when they are, and the trailer ends. Cue copyright info and Sega eyeball logo.

Alright, the results are in: the Velvet Room will be our second Persona stage!!!!!!

In addition, it's time to vote on Arle's trailer:

Qwerty UIOP Qwerty UIOP 's trailer
OrpheusTelos OrpheusTelos ' trailer

Here's the poll:

In addition:

Job #197: Submit a tracklist for the Velvet Room

Tracklist time!!! Just remember to keep your list to a maximum number of 16 tracks. As the tracklist for Casino of Envy is very much P5-oriented, this would be a good opportunity to flesh things out with some tracks from the other games.

Alright, let's catch up on today

First things first, OrpheusTelos' trailer for Arle wins!!!! Very good pitch, I like the idea of the trailers having a continuing narrative. I'm still not quite sure what direction to go in after this, so I ask to this thread once again: who should be revealed next?

Also, OrpheusTelos' tracklist wins by default!!!! Orpheus is getting all the Ws.

So what'll we do for today? Well--

Job #198: Submit Capsule Toys, artwork and VMU RPG enemies for Streets of Rage, Valkyria Chronicles and/or Skies of Arcadia

Time to take care of our next batch of series! We have the two "two characters" franchises that are left, plus one that's closely tied to one of them. I've adjusted the amount of stuff you can submit for this one. Here it is:

-10 Capsule Toys per franchise
-5 pieces of artwork in total
-5 VMU enemies in total

Have fun!

In Streets of Rage 1 they looked identical to Blaze Fielding leading to rumours they were Blaze's sisters, but starting from Streets of Rage 3 onwards they have a far different appearance.
  • Ash
    • First Appearance: Streets of Rage 3 (1994)
    • Series: Streets of Rage
    • System Debut: Mega Drive
A high ranking Syndicate member, Ash drives a motorboat alongside South Pier. A Japanese exclusive, he was cut from the Western version of the game, being replaced by Shiva in the boat. Ash was planned to be a playable character after you defeated him, switching sides. Despite being cut, he does appear on a poster in Nora's headquarters in Streets of Rage 4.
  • Bruce
    • First Appearance: Streets of Rage 3 (1994)
    • Series: Streets of Rage
    • System Debut: Mega Drive
This cruel clown like Syndicate member would appear alongside Roo, mercilessly whipping the boxing kangaroo into doing his bidding in Streets of Rage 3. Fortunately for Roo, Axel and Blaze defeated Bruce, allowing Roo to be freed. In Streets of Rage 4 the clown shoe is on the other foot as now Roo summons Bruce to do HIS bidding as part of his special instead!
  • Floyd Iraia
    • First Appearance: Streets of Rage 4 (2020)
    • Series: Streets of Rage
    • System Debut: Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC
Floyd Iraia was once a dilligent construction worker, but an accident at work caused him to lose both his arms. With the company he worked for preferring to lawyer up to defend themselves than help Floyd, Floyd was only saved when Dr. Gilbert Zan constructed new robotic arm replacements for him powered by the dangerous element Rakushin. Floyd, to thank Dr. Zan became his apprentice, aiding him with his Rakushin experiments. When Blaze contacted Zan for help against the new Syndicate, Floyd offered to go in the old cyborg's place.
  • Diva
    • First Appearance: Streets of Rage 4 (2020)
    • Series: Streets of Rage
    • System Debut: Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC
An art collector and snake charmer extroidanaire, Diva has the power to unleash powerful electrical blasts through her pet snake. Whilst she's no friend of Axel, Blaze, Floyd, Cherry and Adam, she also doesn't appear to be an ally of Mr. Y and Ms. Y, happily giving the heroes their first lead to them upon being defeated. She has a paid of dopplegangers known as Beyo and Riha who can channel poison and fire through their snake pets respectively.

I'll add any additional ones for Skies of Arcadia and Streets of Rage to a different post to make it easier for Speed Weed.

Job 199:
Beach (Virtua Fighter)

1651004075888.png

Beach is one of arenas that debuted in Virtua Fighter on Arcade back in 1993. It's a beach with metallic platform on middle of Sandy shore.
The place was so iconic that VF know this stage that was included in First VF game.

The layout would be similar to Rivals of Aether one (I don't want show any photos, because I don't wanna get plagiarized), but it would be more expanded as walk-off stage like it was in VF games.
The are no cameos, but there are palmtrees and waves in the background and the graphics are modernized to fit the current console generation (It still keeps the design of VF 1 beach).

Raft (Virtua Fighter)

You play on a gigantic flat raft which moves over a river. On both ends of the raft are pools of water which act the same way as water in Smash Ultimate. If you are in the water and get swept under the big raft iyou get instantly KO’d. Occasionally the raft will go underneath a bridge which you can go on if you jump up there.

The Valkyrur (VC3)
This piece was all the Valkyrurs by the release of Valkyria Chronicles 3. Needed one with Alicia AND Selvaria on it.

VC4-Bread.png

Delicious! (VC4)

From the crossover DLC with Squad 7. Alicia's breadmaking goes down a treat with bread enjoyer Kai Schulen. Had to get one of our assist and fighter.

Skies-of-Arcadia-onto-the-next-adventure.png

Onto the next adventure! (Skies of Arcadia)
I genuinely just think this one's very cute. Plus we get our fighter and assist on here (and Aika!)

Streets of Rage 4 (Streets of Rage 4)
Box art/Core art for Streets of Rage 4

Wood Oak City's Finest (Streets of Rage 4)
The return of Adam Hunter. No Skate unfortunately, but this pic has most of our Streets of Rage/Battle of Ages cast. I like how our fighters are standing either side of the assists. Also Floyd's standing there. Slightly awkwardly.

The original submission was made by osby osby (he gave me a permission).

Job #199: Second Virtua Fighter Stage - Statues

The Statues arena is Akira's character stage in Virtua Fighter 5. It's a square arena surrounded by low fences. The arena is surrounded by large pillars and statues that loom over the fighters. It's a simple stage with no interactable parts aside from the fences which can prevent fighters from getting knocked out at certain angles.

VMU opponents:

Imperial Lancer (Valkyria Chronicles, 2008) (more distinct to the shocktrooper visually)
Town Watchman (Valkyria Chronicles, 2008) (got to give Selvaria something!)
Tenkou (Skies of Arcadia, 2000) (a pirate opponent)
Looper (Skies of Arcadia, 2000) (known for being annoying to deal with)
Big Ben (Streets of Rage 2, 1992) (A real pain to deal with. Probably easier when static?)

I wanna get more than just this in for all the series' eventually but I don't have a lot of time so here are some collectibles.

Valkyria Chronicles Capsule Toys:

Ms. Ellet

  • First Appearance: Valkyria Chronicles (2008)
  • Series: Valkyria Chronicles
  • System Debut: Playstation 3
An intrepid reporter for the GBS radio station who runs her own independent newspaper The Writing On The Wall, which she claims is more objective than the government-sponsored state papers. She is always sniffing out a scoop, though her inquisitive and some would say pushy nature means that no story is too small. She is especially interested in the day-to-day operations of Squad 7 and the squadmates' interpersonal relationships. She wants to write a book some day, and with your help she just may.

Radi Jaeger
  • First Appearance: Valkyria Chronicles (2008)
  • Series: Valkyria Chronicles
  • System Debut: Playstation 3
A member of Maximillan's "Drei Stern" and a powerful military commander from the far-off land of Fhirald. Though Fhirald was destroyed by the Empire, Maximillian was impressed by Radi's code of honor and respect on the battlefield as well as his brutal and tactical mind. He demands respect from his men, and thanks to his noble yet ruthless manner, he earns it in spades.

Susie Evans
  • First Appearance: Valkyria Chronicles (2008)
  • Series: Valkyria Chronicles
  • System Debut: Playstation 3
A young scout who attended a prim-and-proper school of etiquette before joining Squad 7. Because of her sheltered upbringing, she doesn't quite understand the value of money, and though she joined to uphold her family's honor she cannot bear war and death. Her pacifistic tendencies caused her to freeze on the battlefield, and following the war she focused on supporting humanitarian and war relief efforts. She is part of a small unit of scouts who got separated from the main squad and, albeit briefly, formed the "Edy Detachment".

Dallas Wyatt
  • First Appearance: Valkyria Chronicles (2008)
  • Series: Valkyria Chronicles
  • System Debut: Playstation 3
A 16-year-old recruit who spent most of years in a girl's school for the wealthy. She is a talented engineer, though she dreams of a life surrounded by flowers. She is quick to develop crushes on older women, with an unrequited crush on Alicia Melchiott she is not particularly adept at hiding. According to her, boys are extremely unrefined.

Leila Peron
  • First Appearance: Valkyria Chronicles 3 (2011)
  • Series: Valkyria Chronicles
  • System Debut: PlayStation Portable
A former member of the Gallian militia who was removed from duty after retaliating against an abusive commander. She is the sister of Squad 7's Homer Peron, and in contrast to his gentle nature is an extremely dominant person. This dominance can be seen as arrogant and overbearing, but her desire to create a better future is anything but, even if her methods involve bending strong men to her will. Well, the world is full of men who want to bow to an aggressive woman, so you can't really fault her for trying...

Claude Wallace
  • First Appearance: Valkyria Chronicles 4 (2018)
  • Series: Valkyria Chronicles
  • System Debut: Playstation 4
The protagonist of Valkyria Chronicles 4 and leader of Squad E. Though gifted in battle, his true talent lies in his ability to predict the weather, an ability he calls "the Revelation of the Wind". Claude is caring and compassionate, though his passion leads him to drilling his recruits perhaps a little too hard. He is determined to be a top-of-the-line commander no matter the cost.

Ferrier Blancheur
  • First Appearance: Valkyria Chronicles 4 (2018)
  • Series: Valkyria Chronicles
  • System Debut: Playstation 4
A mysterious shocktrooper who joined Squad E and always wears an iron mask to conceal her features. She doesn't mingle much with the others, but that seems to be less because she's shy and more for personal reasons. Those same personal reasons mean she doesn't talk about why she wears the mask, though there are rumors she is the very beautiful daughter of a famous noble underneath.

Virtua Fighter stage: Sumo Ring

Sumo-Ring.png

Whilst Taka-Arashi is far from the most popular Virtua Fighter character (to date he's the only character who was REMOVED from the games before coming back later),if there's one thing I love about him it's his simple, traditional Sumo ring stage.

This stage is a very small flat stage with ring outs in front of a cheering audience. You can however jump up onto the Tsuriyane (raised roof) above the stage, as this is still a platform fighter.

Job #199: Second Virtua Fighter Stage - The City
The city stage from Virtua Fighter 5 would be a pretty normal fighting stage, with one minor quirk: it’s raining! Because of this rain, the stage would be rather slippery, so players would have to be extra careful not to slide too far to either side of the stage.

Alright......this was a hard one.

VF5 has a lot of really cool and interesting stages. So I had to decide on things by more or less a sort of process of elimination. I looked at the VF stage we already had, and crossed out the ones that I felt would have too much aesthetic overlap. Then I looked at our stage lineup in general, and searched for a stage archetype that we didn't have yet. There were many good stages I could potentially submit, but the selection process I did ultimately had me land on this one.

Because, well.....here's something I just now realized.

We don't really have any sorta "big flashy fighting ring" stages. We don't really have any stages where you're duking it out on a good ol' Structure Made Specifically For Fighting, in front of a cheering crowd or anything of that sort. That feels like a notable stage archetype we can easily take care of. So I present to you......

Job #199: The Arena
20220426_224601.jpg

20220426_224541.jpg

This is the home stage of the luchador El Blaze, and boy oh boy is it big, bombastic and flashy. I imagine we'd probably want to redesign the layout somewhat, make the ring a lil' bigger maybe, but the basic concept stays the same, you have this big-ass stadium, you're fighting in a proper fighting arena, there are walls you can break to pull off ringouts, and in general this stage has a vibe that is currently found nowhere else in our stage lineup. It'd be epic I think

---------------------------

I'm also gonna let collectable and enemy submissions go on for longer. We could probably use more art and VMU enemies in general, as well as more capsules from SoR and SoA - even Valkyria still has some small gaps, I feel.

And here are some VMU enemies

1. Statues - It's just SO COOL in VF5US. Look at it! Gorgeous.

1651146744341.png

2. The Arena - I agree about needing a fighting arena as a stage. If we're not gonna get Purgatory from Yakuza, this is the next best thing.

3. The City - I love cities and think the rain is a really cool mechanic to help it stand out.
