The contents inside the collapse tag below are spoilers about Smash Wii U's challenges. Do not open if you do not want to be spoiled.

For those who have been keeping track of the pre-release videos, we pretty much have a clear idea that there will be as many as 140 challenges to complete. And unlike in Smash 3DS, there are going to be some challenges that will really test your limits.

Additionally, there's apparently a maximum of five Golden Hammers that you can collect, but because the number of hard challenges will outnumber the Golden Hammers, you will have no choice but to do a portion of them, especially if they're Golden Hammer immune. The following are just a couple challenges that you'll have to keep in mind...
  • Clear the true Solo All-Star mode on hard while playing as Duck Hunt.
  • Clear the true Solo All-Star mode within 6 minutes while playing as Shulk.
  • Clear the true All-Star mode on normal difficulty or higher without using healing items.
  • Get a chain of at least 100 in Trophy Rush without taking any damage while playing alone and as Samus.
  • Clear the true Solo All-Star mode on hard while playing as Ike.
  • Play Solo Cruel Smash as Luigi and survive for 1 minute.
  • Clear the true All-Star mode on hard difficulty.
  • Clear Classic at intensity 8.0 with 2 or more characters.
  • Clear Solo Classic at intensity 5.5 or higher, playing as Wario without any customizations.
  • Clear Solo Classic on intensity 5.5 or higher while playing as Kirby.
  • Hit Sandbag between 1640 and 1656 ft. in Home-Run Contest.
On an additional note, there's the following challenge...
  • Clear Classic at Intensity 5.5 or higher.
It appears that unlike in Smash 3DS, where Master Core doesn't appear below intensity level 5.1, you won't encounter Master Core in Smash Wii U, unless you set the intensity level to 5.5 or higher.

Anyway, it's clearly no joke that Smash Wii U's challenges are going to push you to your limits even more than what Smash 3DS offered. As a result, you're going to have to be very careful with how you'll use your Golden Hammers.

Regarding a unlockable Masterpiece

You can get the Earthbound Masterpiece by hitting 1968 ft. in Homerun Contest

I like how these challenges are more varied than the 3DS ones.

No Pit or Palutena related challenge? *sadface*
At least they're more on the variety side I suppose.

It's gonna take a life time to complete the Wii U challenges.

There is a Palutena related Challenge. It has something to do with the Target Blast on Stage 2

Get xxxx Score with Palutena on Stage 2 Target Blast using the backwall.

Something like that

The completionist in me is weeping.

It also weeps since I'm reminded I never finished Brawl's challenge wall. Blasted stickers, I've been stuck on 693 for the past two years.

I like how the spoilers are in the Spoilers tag, but all the comments underneath are full of non-Spoiler-tagged spoilers anyhow.

But... that's probably to be expected.

It's like they designed some characters to be clearly inferior so that they could make harder challenges. Case in point, Luigi.

The homerun bat challenges are weird as ****. Where did you get them? Does it say what you can unlock too? I'm expecting everything to leak in 24 hours.

All of this came from the Smash Bros. Wiki website, and the sources are from the pre-release YouTube videos.

Thank you very much for this.
I think one of the challenges will be very RNG annoying to get. I think you all know what one I mean.

Thank you very much for this.
But could you quote your source for this please. I'd really like to know this if possible.

For those who don't know, he's referring to the challenge where you must collect all the custom specials, suits, and headgear.

So far, that has not popped up, but considering that the "Clear Classic on intensity 9.0" challenge is almost certain to appear, I wouldn't be too surprised.

Actually no. I was referring to the between XXXX and XXXX feet in the home run mode challenge.

But the one you listed is very RNG as well. It's one you will not farm. You'll just work your way towards it and one day a while in the future it'll just pop up as done.

I wonder if the Red challenges (ones you can not unlock with the hammers) will differ between PAL and NTSC. They did differ in Brawl between the regions.

I doubt it, since apparently, the Smash 3DS objectives that were immune to Golden Hammers apply to the Japanese copies as well.

In Brawl the intense boss battles challenge was red in Japan and NA but for EU and Australia it was hammerable. I know as I hammered it. it was the only challenge I could not do. I think you are probably right though but we shall see.

I have to say, I was not expecting the challenges to be so specific. I guess that happens when there are 140 of them.

This seems like it would be way too hard...
I never finished the challenges in Brawl and I need 6 more challenges on the 3DS.
But anyways, I would like a tough challenge.

I only have one challenge left on 3DS, and I think I only need to get the rest of the Mii headgear to finish it off (just got the last custom move this morning, FINALLY). I assume you just need to get each type of equipment, since I'm pretty sure there is actually an infinite amount of equipment in the game.

Still, you need to get a KO every 7.5 seconds. I hope the Wii U version has a "Very Easy" setting.
This challenge probably requires you to take advantage of one of Shulk's Monado Arts; most notably, his Smash art. Also, All-Star seems to only have three skill levels, so you'd probably have to do this on Easy.

"Clear True All Star solo on hard with Duck Hunt."
I did that on 3DS so this should be easy.

6 years later and I'm still beating the Brawl boss battle challenges. These might take me a decade, lol.

If only it were unlockable, I'd love ii if a certain stage were unlocked by hitting the Sandbag between 242 and 249 ft.

I've beaten Boss Battles on Intense in Brawl twice (with :fox:), and I'm not even very good at Smash Bros.

You slackers need to step up your game. :p

I did it with everybody so I could have that pretty red icon next to the total high score.
