Yoo, I know this is kinda unrelated, but this was like the #1 thread I've been searching for. Can't wait to discuss leaks!

You know, I see a lot of people who say Sora is pretty much impossible because KH's rights are own by Disney, but I think we all thought the same about Cloud back in the Sm4sh days

Besides, Disney and Nintendo have already collaborated for Wreck it Ralph with Bowser appearing there and Mario rumored to be in the second movie, I don't think it's that hard to think they could also have talks to have Sora in SSBU

So, using that argument to disconfirm the Sora/Geno leak is not quite enough imo

Master0fHyrule didn't delete the tweet. Still, despite him being lucky enough to receive some Smash Ultimate stage pics/assets before E3, that still doesn't make him a credible source for leaks. The only ones you guys should be paying attention to are Senjougahara__Hitagi and Vergeben/DasVergeben.

Nothing new yet. Thought now that Ken picture proves that someone somewhere had acess to debug mode for long enought to start a match and get a pose.

Why they did it with Just Ken and why they didn't make another picture is the real mystery.

Just fake leaks here and there, though there has been two leaks lately that seems to be popular.

One is about Ken being in the game. It's popular because it is an image and there seems to be proof it's real, due to debug thing and more.

The other is about that tweet. Someone asked co producer of KH3 about if Sora was going to be in, he said yes

I'm not sure if both sora and geno are in at once (tho i'd nut if this was true). But I think the guy was trying to backtrack from possibly blubbing some of what the leaker circles know, and as such I genuinely think Sora and Geno are the square enix shortlist that Verge didn't want to specify yet.

Also I know it's bold and that one guy i think said he regretted saying anything about smash, but yeah I think minecraft steve is in too and I'm actually growing to like the concept of him being in.

Finally I still don't take heed in what Jon said about shadow myself, but it's worth keeping tabs on.

Okay, looks like we have to deal with fake leaks on daily basis.

How to tell if it's fake:

1. If it is riddle leak, that means it's fake because no one likes riddle leak since it was made to **** with everyone's mind

2. If there is photo leak, but there's that part of photo that looks too suspicious which needs close examining there. Bonus point: if photo leaker said that he made it for a fun. (Ken Leak gets the pass because it is very real deal)

3. and last but least, text leaks, 4chan was responsible for them but some of them come true (referring to E3 leaks about smash Ultimate and switch presentation leaks which comes true last year.) however, don't take it too seriously so just take it with grain of salt.

If geno is in, I hope this is the thing that starts square coming back to help make Mario RPGs. Have you ever played any of the more recent ones? The last good one was was Bowser's Inside Story and that's close to being over 10 years old now. We need an actual RPG developer to help with these instead of people who want to force nintendo's gimmick based game design into a jrpg.

I’m still keeping tabs on that one, it’s too interesting to ignore. I know the guy set his birthday as April 1st but I’ve heard people use that for anonymity sometimes.

I very rarely go to gamefaqs, but iirc most of those come from the same guy and their 500 alt accounts who hates vergeben a lot and wants the prima leak to disprove him real bad.

I wouldn't take much stock in it a guy is just trying to prop its dead body up to own verge.

I think if Verg is anything to go by then there's more than likely Minecraft content in the base game, so you could probably make a point to say that if they're including an AT and/or a stage in the base game then Steve definitely has to be in to accompany them, but I'm not so sure. It's not necessarily true. On that note, I wouldn't be shocked in the slightest if the Monster Hunter ended up being DLC as well.

That's mostly what I think. I just think he would love the idea and is supporting it.

But what makes the KH community (not connected to smash who have the habit of those kind of things) go wild is that Hashimoto have the infamous past of letting his tongue slip-

I think Crono makes way more sense for a Square Enix rep than Geno. A character from Chrono Trigger, a game made by Square and Enix, before they merged.

But all anyone does is make fake leaks with that Smashified Geno model. People don't even try to differentiate it and act like it's completely new.

This reminds me of when Laytons VA, around the time Smash 4 was out, Said "thats what those extra lines were for!" But doubled back hard saying it wasnt about smash (still dont know what that was all about)

Maybe he deleted it to not start the engines on the Sora Smash car but that car seems to already took off.

A literal shower thought I had last night: what if the box leak is still true, but Steve and Sora end up having special spots for them on the back a la what happened with Sonic and Snake in Brawl?

With World of Final Fantasy and Record Keeper, Disney has shown recently that they're willing to co-operate for appearances like this; plus, it would make far more sense for SE to want a popular and marketable character with some pop culture relevancy over a one-off only diehard Nintendo fans from the 90's even know of.

On the topic of SE characters, DQ character designs DO belong to Toryiama (or more specifically Bird Studio) and Armor Project. There's been some misconceptions floating around but this is the case.
Horii is a friend of Sakurai though so I don't think that'd be a problem.

That's what I meant previously about Square being a legal hell whatever Characters you want.
DQ need Bird Studio/Armor Project and SE approval
KH need SE and Disney Approval
And I'm in a spot where I wouldn't even be surprised if Geno have some shady deal behind the scene where they need the approval from a specific persons

They're just in a Gentleman agreement of not doing anything without Square's consent.

That is wrong. Disney owns Sora, but ask Square Enix/Tetsuya Nomura out of respect whenever they need to use the character. See:

The fact that both any DQ character/Sora both would require a lot of legal talk and liscencing makes me think the SE character talked about is going to be DLC.
I don't really know who owns the rights to Geno, I think it's solely Square since there's no extra mention at the end of the Cloud/Geno reveal for Smash 4.

That's very interesting insight, thank you for sharing! Thinking over what the most likely scenarios for Sakurai playing it safe with Disney's big three's appearances would probably be, this is what I would expect (with the most controversial situations listed after):

• In a cinematic cutscene like Captain Falcon's or Duck Hunt's, Sora teams with Goofy and Donald to attack the helpless opponent(s) in a Kingdom Hearts-accurate unrealistic manner.
  • Donald and Goofy are seen interacting with (attacking) characters that could be seen as somewhat provocative, such as Zero Suit Samus, Bayonetta, or naked Shulk.
  • Donald and Goofy are seen attacking characters wielding unrealistic or cartoonish weapons, such as Bayonetta's guns, Link's sword, or Pit's bow/swords, or characters not actively wielding realistic weapons but with them subtly included in their design, such as the Belmonts' medieval flails with cross handles or Snake's holstered pistol (only its handle physically visible).
• Mickey appears in the background of a Kingdom Hearts stage in a non-interactive role.
  • Characters in the foreground, in front of Mickey but completely separated from him, use explosives with unrealistic/cartoonish effects, swords, flails, unrealistic guns, baseball bats, and fists for the purpose of cartoonish/unrealistic violence toward other characters.

Do you believe Disney would accept these circumstances in the context of an E10+ video game, or would they take too much issue with one or any of these situations? I'm inclined to believe that if not, the only option would be for Mickey, Donald, and Goofy to not appear in actual gameplay in any capacity, but seeing as you're quite familiar with their limitations, I refer to your opinion for whether it would come to that or not.

If you want me to be completely honest, I'm not sure what the real answer to this question is, but I can give you my opinion based on decisions I've seen the company make in the past.

I don't think it's any issue for Mickey, Donald or Goofy to appear around provocative characters or characters with swords/unrealistic weapons/whips/etc. The main problem is Donald because of reasons I stated before. The artillery and life-like explosives (mainly derived from Snake's character) is the main reason Disney would be hesitant. Now that I think about it, you can't see any of that on Snake's person- only when he attacks, so there's a possibility of a cinematic featuring Donald and Goofy for the Final Smash... but I definitely don't see them being Assist Trophies.

The other problem: does Sakurai even want Donald and Goofy in the game? I can honestly see him making Riku his Final Smash, or even his various forms from Kingdom Hearts II.

Another point I'd like to bring up is that Sora fighting without Donald and Goofy is NOT against his character at all. This has happened on a number of occasions. In fact, neither of them join his party for the entirety of Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance.
