I am not buying that French leaker at all. Sure he predicted Simon, Richter, Chrom etc, yet his final roster choice does not match with Vergeben other than Ken. If he did have some credible info where is the second square rep or even Incineroar? Also (BIAS INCOMING) but I can't see the base roster not having Shadow. If Ken is making it in then Shadow will as well.

Don't know what this means but should the last one count? Ken's knees are bent, aren't they?

What it means is that the Ken model in the image is derivative of the Smash Ultimate model. The Smash 4 model is placed here as a control group, and to show that it's not the same model.

As for the knees being bent, the clothing folds are baked into the surface of the model. They do not change when the limbs bend.

This proves the Ken model is not based on any of the existing Ken models, or the Smash 4 Ryu model. It is explicitly derivative of a model that only the Smash Ultimate team has access to.

If Steve's in Smash. I'm kinda looking forward to 8-Player match full of Steve's building things like a 2D minecraft.

I imagine Steve would have a block building gimmick of some kind. Even if it's balanced where they disappear eventually or they have a limited amount of blocks to use ("I can only use my blocks so many times, so that is why I carry my diamond sword!" :ultrobin) . But an 8 player Steve match may very well be able to build some neat stuff.

True, but both Banjo & Kazooie and Geno are effectively Nintendo characters owned by a third party. They're in a unique position that no other character is in. Well, perhaps Rabbid Mario is also in that category. And we've seen a different trend in this game--a lot of perennial fan favorites in a much more limited roster. It's a question of which trend ends up continuing, and I could see it going either way. But the one trend I see that will probably always continue is, "Whatever Sakurai wants, gets in." I'll place my bets on that third option.

I had a dream about a month ago about exactly how Steve gets announced for Smash Ultimate. I'll state the exact dream first, then my (awake) modified version of it.

Dream: It starts off in a dark void, similar to the Inkling reveal trailer. Whispy Woods from the Kirby series is perched in the center of the black abyss. You hear chopping sounds, and the tree begins to shake. Eventually, the tree timbers over, and Kirby is revealed to be behind it. Kirby looks around the void, and sees a single Waddle Doo. He starts to coward away from it. While cowering, crunches of dirt can be heard in the distance which causes Kirby to be even more scared. The sound of footsteps get clearer and closer, and the sound heard is very clearly the walking effect from Minecraft. Just a silhouette is seen. He charges into frame, and when the character becomes clear the splash screen animation plays. (I can't remember the pun that was used in the dream...)

Prediction: CGI version of Dream Land with Whispy Wood perched in the center, asleep and snoring. Kirby is busy attacking a group of Waddle Dees, completely ignoring the tree. During the fight, the tree begins to shake, waking up Whispy Wood. Kirby temporarily stops his fight, and glances over at the tree. Meta Knight pops out from behind, and begins attacking Kirby. The battle goes on for a while, until the tree begins shaking again. Both Kirby and Meta Knight stop in their tracks, cowering together. Chopping sounds get louder and louder until a single Minecraft wood block pops out of the tree. Kirby makes an animated shocked look. Suddenly, the whole tree falls into hovering, spinning wood blocks and the leaves from the top of Whispy Wood begin falling, blocking the view of the now pretty obvious character. The silhouette of Steve is seen behind the leaves, until they all fall which reveals: STEVE: PICKS A FIGHT!

(I just realized this would be the biggest troll to the people who want Bandanna Waddle Dee...is it bad I think this prediction is more likely then BWD getting in?)

Or Geno being in Smash.

This roster is shaping up to be a thorough mix of characters I adore and characters I can't stand with very little middle ground.

Ok, so about Mega Bidoof's mention about possible of two square enix reps.

First of all, early on, Vergeben mentioned that there would be square enix rep but problem is that he didn't know who it was. Thus, that's "mysterious" for ya. And second, yesterday MasterofHyrule mentions that he heard that Sora and Geno are in.

There has to be the explanation to this **** right?

When Mega Bidoof pointed that there may be Sora and Geno being in at same time, and now move to conflicted sources about mysterious square enix rep. If they were playtesters and they would be shown with two version: one with Sora in and other with Geno in. Why? because Nintendo and Sakurai don't want this secret to be leaked to public AT ALL.

if Steve gets in, it's going to invite all kinds of third party characters from other Western companies. I feel Smash will lose it's Nintendo charm at that point.

I think any of the Rare characters like banjo would be the exception.

Then A Final Direct around November in which will ultimately reveal Steve as final newcomer.
