I agree that songs seem to be played alongside confirmed newcomers, but this doesn't mean a franchise already getting a song means a newcomer form the franchise won't happen or that a franchise can't get two songs.

So either this is further confirmation that fan theories are silly and shouldn't be taken seriously (not judging, I take a part in them as well), or we're not getting a new Pokemon rep as I had presumed initially and there could be more surprises in store--either way, I'm happy.

Just my own two cents, I am not letting myself buy into any school of speculation based purely off of extrapolating patterns from what might well be relatively independent events, namely the site music theory and blog theory. Looking at patterns can certainly lead to a general ballpark expectation, but assuming anything's going to hold 100% is a bridge too far.

Well, how about that. Anyway, my trying to remain as reasonably skeptical about most the rumors and series out there aside, at this point I'm personally hopeful above all else that what remains to be shown of Ultimate's single-player (i.e. pretty much all of it) delivers in the vein of Melee/Brawl, and I'm a bit thankful that there really hasn't been much in the way of wild speculation regarding the Sprits mode and such.

Not really. I doubt they'd put Gen 3 music for Incineroar, a Gen 7 pokemon.

I take, perhaps the minority position, that rumors can't kill rumors (or "theories" if that term is preferable). However credible I think Verge is (and I think he's highly credible), there's always a chance, however small, that he's wrong. I think this makes music theory highly unlikely at this point--but not dead. That doesn't happen until official confirmation (or deconfirmation).

There were already plenty of Pokemon in Smash 4, and Ultimate brought back three more. Let's give some other series a chance to shine!

I really prefer the Music Theory holds strong because, while I do love Incineroar, if Box Theory ends up being correct I much prefer the last character being someone new or surprising.

While I still don't think there should be non-gaming characters in Smash, one I would be totally fine with is Astro Boy/Mighty Atom.

Osamu Tezuka's character was the birth of Manga/Anime, and alongside Mario and Pac Man, he is and remains Japan's most significant character, even more than Goku. Many things, including Shonen Jump, Dragon Ball, Gundam, One Piece, etc. wouldn't have existed if it wasn't for Tezuka's works. I feel he's more than deserving of the spot, even more than Goku. Goku may be more popular, but Astro Boy is more iconic. All of Japan was literally turned on it's head with his arrival, his importance cannot be understated. It'd be stupidly easy to make a moveset for him. Taking inspiration from one of the best GBA games of all time, Astro Boy: The Omega Factor is the right way to go. If Sakurai did change his mind on non gaming characters, then Astro Boy would be the perfect first character, that's how I see it, at least.
