I mean, this is just speculation, I assume that most people around here know that any predictions at this stage are likely to be proven wrong, otherwise they probably haven't taken part in speculation for a Smash game, at least not in this early a stage. It's fun to discuss though, it never hurts to be wrong after all, and it's also just a way to pass the time and get some of the hype out of the body until actual news appear. Everybody has their own vision of how this game might pan out, or how they'd like it to, and it's interesting to see different people's perspectives, even if it doesn't actually matter much.

If we limited ourselves to discussing what we know about the game then we'd just be discussing silhouettes for months.

I assume if you put your wishlist characters on your real roster then that's your real roster. Having a seperate wishlist roster would be better.

Why do we think sales really affect a characters chances of getting into smash? Do we have concrete proof that a game selling well has gotten a character into smash yet?

Sales play somewhat of a factor. See ecclusion of wonderful 101. But sakurai can include characters that he jist likes (xenoblade didnt sell and shulk showed up) people at large didnt know who shulk was i remember the reaction.
Sales domt carry a character to smash but they dont deny them entry either.

This is peak Smash Bros. speculation. You highly underestimate how long people will discuss silhouettes. Keep in mind this is the same community that took nearly every Pic of the Day as a hint to upcoming content.

I still get flashbacks to staying up all night to see the Pic, and discussing how Sakurai discussing how size isn't important on the Nintendogs stage meant Ridley was a shoo-in. Or that Pyropshere meant Ridley was a shoo-in. Or that the hint in the April Direct showing that there'd be more stage bosses, showing Ridley's shadow follow Pikachu, meant Ridley was a shoo-in Basically, a lot of Ridley being a shoo-in.

All of these Lyn votes makes my want to see the opinions people will have in the RTC for Lyn's Day

On the subject of Lyn, she's my and many other's favorite Fire Emblem character, as evidenced by the CYL vote pre-Fire Emblem Heroes. With the most recent FE game being a remake, I think her chances as a newcomer have gone up. She's also basically the Marth of the West, being the first lord many of us interacted with. She has also been an assist trophy since the creation of assist trophies. I think Celica has just as good of chances as she does, but I do think she brings a lot to the table and should be considered.

Note that I am aware that the timing of the first CYL was probably too late to effect the Smash Roster, as it didn't take place til the beginning of 2017. I'm just under the assumption that her popularity didn't entirely come out of nowhere, and she's been present in Smash multiple times. And also there hasn't been a 100% new Fire Emblem game since we got Corrin in Smash, which could also likely mean we don't get ANY new FE character (FE haters rejoice...)

Well for one, not every IP gets major representation in smash. . .but also wasnt Wonderful 101 a bit late for the game?

I vaguely remember Sakurai saying that Robin only barely made it in because of the time line, and Wonderful 101 released an entire year later.

Not very likely as the series has ended. If we did; however, I have to imagine it would be someone from Mother 3. Porky would be my pick, as he also appears in Earthbound. Keeps things nice and clean.

On the subject of Lyn, she's my and many other's favorite Fire Emblem character, as evidenced by the CYL vote pre-Fire Emblem Heroes. With the most recent FE game being a remake, I think her chances as a newcomer have gone up. She's also basically the Marth of the West, being the first lord many of us interacted with. She has also been an assist trophy since the creation of assist trophies. I think Celica has just as good of chances as she does, but I do think she brings a lot to the table and should be considered.

Note that I am aware that the timing of the first CYL was probably too late to effect the Smash Roster, as it didn't take place til the beginning of 2017. I'm just under the assumption that her popularity didn't entirely come out of nowhere, and she's been present in Smash multiple times. And also there hasn't been a 100% new Fire Emblem game since we got Corrin in Smash, which could also likely mean we don't get ANY new FE character (FE haters rejoice...)

Oh yeah... This Smash Bros is in a very... peculiar place in terms of Fire Emblem reps, any new main games was released prior to Smash Switch development begin (Mid?-2016), and the most relevant choices that Sakurai would have known are Alm/Celica... The fact we don't have a new main character that Nintendo would try to push (at least for the base game) yet, it makes the possibilities with FE Characters extremely variable (both include the case of a older FE Character appearing or not new FE at all)

This is going to be based on personal bias, and what I deem desirable for me, or simply just something I could see happening.

Animal Crossing;
- Isabelle.

No doubt an iconic and charming charcater from the giant cast of AC characters. AC could definently add a new character, and she would be recognizable due to AC:NL, spin-offs and guest appearances in MK8 + MK8:D.


Donkey Kong;
- King K. Rool.

Must have done well on the Ballot, Krool Avenue, Mii costume recognition/consolationprize with a new game in mind?, and my most wanted newcomer, enough said.

Earthbound;
- Masked Man.

It was really hard to pick one from Earthbound as it is pretty much canned as a series. If Lucas comes back, I think both Kumatora and Masked Man would be interesting, but I put MM because of his sword and jetpack style, plus he is considered a villain. If Lucas is not there, I could see Gigyas or Porky with a Eggman Mech sort of thing.

F-Zero;
- Samurai Goroh.

The true rival to Captain Falcon, recurring in the Smash scene (which is more of a case than most F-Zero Pilots), Unique moves-set, composed of Samurai slices, as well as Sumo. My favourite F-Zero pilot in general. Definently would love to see this happen. If it did, I'd be overjoyed, but my hype and hope for a new F-Zero character has unfortuantley died out of the years.

Fire Emblem;
- Female no swordfighter.

I do not know s-hit about the Fire Emblem series, but what I do know is that it's huge, and the cast is big too, so, what I would love is a non-sword-wielding character, and that is female.

Kid Icarus;
- Medusa.

The only character that I would "want" from Kid Icarus. Any other would not be someone I'd personally want. Medusa would be the Palutena for Dark Pit, which is definently something I would wanmt.

Kirby;
- Bandana Waddle Dee.

Round up the Kirby crew, best edition, nuff said.

Mario;
- Waluigi.

Hard choice, really, since I think both Toad and Waluigi are the best choices. Toad is quite likely, but I personally want Waluigi over Toad. Plus, with Aces, maybe Waluigi finally will get inn? I mean, it's a huge promoted Nintendo Switch title, Waluigi has always used a racket in the AT-moves, so, maybe this time?

Metroid;
- Ridley.

I'm convinced due to the Brawl-Mod. I think he could work. Would I personally play him? Mostly if I got him through random, as he never really appealed to me, but I know how desired he is, as well as he is a famous Nintendo Villain who deserves the spot.

Pikmin;
- Alph.

Make him use Rock Pikmin, and perhaps a bit more powerful due to that? Make Louie an Olimar Alt, and Brittany an Alph Alt. Sold.

Pokémon;
- Deciduye.

Really because I genuinley like the character. I think running around with a bird, shooting arrows, and perhaps expose a ghost move would be epic.

Punch-Out!!;
- King Hippo.

I remember before Super Smash 4, I made a delusional prediction list, where he was part of it. Still, I do not think we will have a new character from PO, but if anything King Hippo would be a heavy weight, so, why not?

Retro;
Balloon Fighter.

I can't tell how many times I have to explain this, but honestly, he is the perfect candidate for the perfect "air-game" design in mind. Also, my most wanted Retro. Lip from Panel De Pon comes very close behind.

Splatton;
- Octolings.

No need to explain.

Star Fox;
- Krystal

Because returners where out of the question. Krystal is the next to take part in my book. I'd love Slippy as well, but I think it's hard enough to see 2 newcomers happen this time around, but Krystal would indeed be someone I'd like to see in Smash one day.

The Legend of Zelda;
- Skull Kid.

Just because I want Balloon Fighter as the air-game character, Tingle get's the backburner in favor of my favourite Zelda character, Skull Kid, who is indeed more interesting, that's why I placed him there over Tingle.

Wario;
- Orbulon.

Ashley comes second, really, but I already got 2 sorcorer that I'd like to see before her, and that's Skull Kid, and Kamek, but Orbulon is actually my favourite WarioWare character, and I think he could have been quite unique, the only problem is that I would not see it happen at all.

Xenoblade;
- Rex & Pyra.

I do not know why, other than all those prediction videoes convince me it is likely. I do not know anything of the series in general, so I will not want to discuss the reason.

Yoshi;
- Kamek.

Foreshadowed in the Wario category, but true, Kamek would indeed be a villainious character I'd love to see in Smash, Mario Kart and reappearing in Mario Party. Yes, I need me some more Kamek. Other than that, Shyguy would be the perfect choice otherwise. No babies, no Birdo, and I'm fine.

Here's a fun exercise: For each of the main Nintendo universes in the game, pick a newcomer. Returning veterans don't count, I want someone that's a brand new playable character from each series. Keep it semi-likely, meaning dream picks are allowed, but they should have SOME chance, however small, of making it in.

I don't expect all these series to get newcomers, I'm just curious to see who's next on people's lists to get added into Smash from each universe.
