It's unrealistic but I can see Sakurai showing Erdrick or whatever and bringing up 5 squares for the fighter pass with Erdrick and Joker filled in going all "By the way, before we go, we would like to show you who's left on the Fighter's Pass although gameplay isn't ready yet. God I wish but Sakurai insists on making these things an event. Joker shows you can keep people interested if you hold off gameplay so just give us quick reveals like that so we can all move on.

I just want to see them give us those fancy CG trailers fo DLC because they're honestly the best part of getting people excited for the characters. Ridley's reveal being without that brutal Alien shout out wouldn't have been as exciting

They tend to announce directs the day before they happen the majority of the time. Perhaps it could be a bit earlier, but not by too much.

I think that we'll get the announcement of Erdrick on the first direct of this year (happy new year by the way ^^).

Considering last time... I think Joker is the exception, unfortunately. I like the ingame trailers too but nothing compares to any of the build up and hype those CG trailers manage to create.

it would start off with a mega pissed off Mario kicking some massive *** from the Koopa Klan, including Bowser Jr and his crew just cause. As he gets ready to fight Bowser and rescue Peach once more, Luigi and Yoshi have their bodies dragged into his throne room with Mario being Hulk levels of pissed...then bada Boom Piranha Plant is right there in front of Mario, keeping him from causing anymore harm to his master by just standing in from of him. Mario strikes and gets whooped just like in the actual trailer.

I would actually like Steve, Ryu H and Doomslayer, so I know they won't be in lol. I'm guessing (NOT betting, I might have finally learned my lesson) that it's going to be all characters I don't care about or haven't heard of. I have a big list of characters I'd like to see, but I don't see any of them happening:

What are your dream picks for Smash, regardless of their chances, only your most wanted characters.

Current Top 5:
1 - KOS-MOS - She's the Darkhorse in a horse race with Heihachi leading and Lloyd being the Contender for the imaginary second Namco spot
2 - Saber (Artoria) - The quintessential Visual Novel rep. The only other one I'd want over her is Arcueid, but her chances are basically null
3 - Reimu - The quintessential Indie rep, imo. She's one of the oldest examples in video games, older than Steve, Shovel Knight, Shantae, etc.
4 - Frisk/Chara - The second most-likely Indie rep. If Reimu doesn't make it into Ultimate as a Playable, then Frisk's chances are pretty good
5 - 2B - Stingy Square meme aside, I think she's popular and cool enough to warrant KOS-MOS-tier cameos

Honorable Mentions (characters who are deconfirmed, but still have a chance as long as Sakurai doesn't stick to dumb stipulations):
6 - Rex & Pyra - I was expecting them in DLC at least, but no. Hopefully, we get Wave 2, which may bolster his odds of being upgraded into a character
7 - Malos - Would have been a fun pseudo-Shulk clone and another villain to add to the cast
8 - Dante - Lowkey deconfirmed by Kamiya*, who would have some passing knowledge of the Fighter's Pass. Definitely possible for a Wave 2 though
9 - Demi-Fiend - Had his spot usurped by Joker being that they're both from the MegaTen franchise bubble. Still excited for Joker though
10 - Terry Bogard - SNK has done an impressive job staying relevant since their conception. Ken might be deemed "Terry enough" for that role though

*NOTE = I know Kamiya has nothing to do with Dante. Don't @ me on that. The point was to highlight that Kamiya would still know more or less who's in the Fighter's Pass. His poll was an experiment to see if there was demand for any of the characters to show up in Smash. By gathering that information, he can negotiate something with Sakurai and his former company Capcom to see if something can be arranged in the future. Maybe.

There's insiders who always post a gif of Reggie tapping his watch with "RESET THE CLOCK!" on their twitter or whatever and shortly afterwards, Nintendo confirms a Nintendo Direct. Happens every direct and it's the same people doing it. If I don't see those tweets, I'm not buying that there's a direct soon
