Honestly, this community did a complete 180 when it came to Chrom, and all it took was more knowledge on literally more than just his recovery.

nah he's a different character but he basically just uses link's moveset with some tweaks to make him play differently. its a personal thing i guess but i never really saw him as a 100% new zelda characters, of which we could have had a number of after 3 games

meanwhile pokemon has gotten 6 100% new characters for three games

I also am kinda thinking that they should go all the way with the “Gaming All-Stars” vibe and keep adding 3rd parties via DLC. We already what...10 characters from not-Nintendo?

Sonic, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Snake, Cloud, Ryu, Ken, Bayo, Simon, Richter, Joker...so actually 11. Wew lad, two games ago we had 2!

The more I think about it, I feel pretty confident in Lloyd Irving and at least one Capcom pick. The Capcom pick could be Dante, Leon, Amaterasu, or a left field pick, but I feel good about those. Dante and Leon come from some of biggest Capcom series left without being in Smash (and I personally feel that the whole packages with music and a stage seem to lend themselves to “expanding” the Smash universe), and they could be amazing picks. Leon isn’t as flashy, but just the fact that he suplexes zombies is enough of a win for me. Ammy is no slouch either, but regardless Capcom has a treasure trove of great picks.

I’m still feeling confident in most if not all of the picks being 3rd parties. If, and that’s a big if, Spirits disconfirm characters, then I have no doubt it’ll be all 3rd parties.

I agree, also out there picks like Scorpion and Tracer never seem too out of reach.

All it took for me to turn was to somehow start winning games with Chrom, without the use of his recovery...really is the best FE character

I'm not particularly interested in what you saw as a "new characters", but Smash classifies him as a unique enough fighter. It doesn't make sense for you to ignore a character and than act according to that when it comes to representation.

Also Pokemon is much bigger than Zelda, but that's a different subject.

Well different series do have vastly different stipulations on what they could reasonably add.

Every Pokémon game does give you like 70+ new guys who will be around forever as they are now creatures in the world.

Have you played WW? There's a ton of stuff that TL could use from that game that BotW Link and YL don't use.

just because characters like toon link and dark pit are only in because they were easy to make doesn't mean that i can't wise they didn't have unique movesets. i'd be ultra cool with dark pit if his kit was different enough, but it ain't and that's why people didn't like him in 4

its mostly just a shame to see characters with immense potential for movesets be turned into clones, you know. i very distinctly remember people being excited when toon link leaked because of how cool his set could be, and then. yeah

hammer, deku leaf fire/ice arrows, power bracelet, iron boots, whirlwind, whip, sand wand

all of those are from games toon link is from and none of them are items link uses in his set

Deku Leaf, Skull Hammer, the Wind Waker itself, Grappling Hook, Tingle Tuner, Mirror Shield, ETC.

YL could do more of his own thing too. There's nothing that says the Links have to be identical to one another, they simply are for ease of development.

I can allow one difference, but he's either gonna have to do that jump slam thing OR suck bois in at high speeds if not both

basically every clone character could have something more unique going for them if time allowed, and that doesn't just mean the usual talking points like ganondorf and dark samus, this goes for all the fire emblems, the links, and daisy. i think the only one exempt from this is ken because he's already pretty different from ryu

its okay to be disappointed over how a character is portrayed in smash, its a video game with a lot of flaws, ignoring those flaws isn't a healthy way to view it as art

I mean, yes, he uses the Toon Gust Bellows Korok Leaf to fill himself with air and fly instead of just using the leaf to glide I guess

you can usually find it on the spirit board. might take you a bit though, it is mostly luck based

Gordo Toss is easy. He throws pigs at you. Jet Hammer...Uh...The Skull Hammer magically morphs into a mini train from Spirit Tracks. Not jet powered, but still gets the job done.
