Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

We knew about the Mario Spirits thanks to the datamine but this just strengthens my belief that they'll continually add new spirits, which could also be tied to game releases.
But Shish I need money for food
Sell the other kidney, you have two for a reason

Aaaaand I no longer care about getting all the spirits in this gsme
they show up at specific times twice each day, so if you go to the update and figure out the times, you can get them easily

they also show up randomly on the spirit board, they're probably really easy to get, especially if you have a bunch of rematch items

Not that weird for me, tbh.

Nintendo is teasing him as a Thanos-like deal for the Metroid franchise.
Eh, not quite. Thanos, we absolutely knew he was going to be a player as soon as Avengers rolled in, like no question at all. Not so much a gurantee with Sylux. And even still, it wouldn't necessarily be the best move either since these are two mediums of far different values when it comes to the purchase.

in the game

next event is adding three new mario support spirits, Golden Dash Mushroom, River Survival, and Dice Block

you can ONLY get them during this event so if you want to collect every spirit get on it when it starts on the 28th
They appear at specific times, too. So they'll likely be pinned, and won't go away if you lose to them.

if you're going for all the spirits you have basically no reason to miss out unless you're incredibly busy for the christmas downtime

can't even excuse people for being lazy, its the switch

if there is no reward for getting all the spirits, whats the point of getting them all besides the feel of accomplishment?
You can fight some character-specific bosses that otherwise only appear in Classic with your character of choice?

Dunno man.

because you can

there's more reason to collect spirits than there were trophies (extra customization, looking at the artwork, checking out the gags in the fights), and you didn't get anything for collecting all the trophies either. didn't stop people from doing it

Finally got all the non-event Spirits. I'm kind of bummed that I have to wait for a random Pokemon event before I can 100% complete it.

All that is left for me to do is play Online matches for the remaining 15 or so challenges I have left; which sadly only give out Gold & Spirit Points (granted it's better than the alternative of paying $20 to get online in the first place).

Aside from how long World of Light is, unlocking everything in this game is significantly less tedious than in the previous games. Ex. Diskun, Stickers, Mii Hats, etc. And for all of the quality of life issues the menus have, they are generous about notifying you of things you have left to unlock when they appear in shops or on the Spirit Board/Summoning. Though it is weird that Mii Hats/Outfits & Music don't have notifications when fully unlocked.

i heard that there's actually just a song missing from the music list that prevents you from getting the all music milestone

oops

If you want the definitive Sonic ‘06 review, just watch the one made by The Geek Critique.

It is the best one from all the ones that has been made.

oh yeah, thats just a stright up blunderbuss, aint it?
yep, realistically designed on the surface

i think it might only get away with it because it shoots cartoon cannonballs and has magic vacuum powers, making it very much not realistic, and also probably because i think literally only pirates own blunderbusses nowadays

You won’t regret it.

I didn’t realize pirates were still around.

Now that i think of it: Frank Castle (Punisher if you prefer) isn’t in any of the MvC games outside of a reference in UMvC3 from one of Captain America’s alt.

Could it be because of the no-guns thing?

"no guns in smash" has literally never been a rule, captain falcon has a realistic gun in smash 64 on his model (ignoring the many energy guns in the game)
this isnt a nintendo rule, the ESRB doesnt like realistic guns but they can get away with it

we still don't really have any evidence of that either way. we just have to wait to see how joker is handled before making any concrete statements

Eeeeeeexactly.
Yokai What?
Remember back in Melee days when everyone in America knew what Fire Emblem was due to the game's amazing sales in America?

remember that brief period where gamefreak was bricking it over yokai watch's apparent spike in popularity?

yeah that dwindled pretty quickly once they realised no-one overseas gives a flying **** about yokai watch
Not necessarily true. Europeans in general hugely love the franchise as well.
What's more is that Game Freak themselves don't give a flying **** about anyone overseas in the first place. They generally only care at all about what their Japanese fans think.

First of all how far back did you just dig for those posts
Second, I'm European and whenever I saw Yokai Watch stuff, it was warming the shelves. One store had an entire display dedicated to Yokai Watch. That store went bankrupt a while later

MVC doesn't care about the rating as much and you must have never seen Chris Redfield in that game

i want to note that people saying yokai watch failed in america are actually just pretty wrong?

it was the toyline and anime that didn't bring in the numbers (though the initial two seasons of the anime are actually some of the best dubbing i've seen for an anime) the games themselves have sold perfectly fine, even with the marketing blunder they made for yokai watch 2. why else would they even bring over yokai watch 3 if the series was selling as bad as people say it is?

heck, the english version of yokai watch 3 is the superior version of the game, since it comes with content from all three versions, and all the updates the game received over a few months

and also 3 released earlier in europe because the games are just that popular over there, and also the blasters games were the best selling 3ds games in europe well after their release. saying the series isn't popular anymore is an outright lie?

I have.
But he is on the Capcom side, not the Marvel one; which is something that i expect in that regard.
