Yeah, going by Sakurai's remarks, a Joker gameplay trailer at the very least is still probably a ways out. If there is a Direct imminent, I think a Piranha Plant release date is very likely, though. I really appreciate Sakurai being upfront and saying "Hey, we barely just started on him, but we wanted to give you something a little early."

Assuming spirits deconfirm characters is an unproven assumption. We shouldn't be saying "deconfirmed" without, you know, actual confirmation. What people who buy into the theory that spirits don't allow for the character in question to be included should be saying is that those character may be less likely as a result. As it is now though, "confirm" is far too strong of a word for this and I find the idea of an image file with an exp bar slapped on being unable to share space with an actual character laughable, especially when we have the likes of Kaptain K.Rool in as a spirit (and yes that is a playable form of K.Rool, have you seen his neutral B).

But to take that assumption a step farther and say that a spirits lack of a presence somehow makes them likely is, in my opinion, a very shakey argument. You're not only just assuming that spirits absolutely deconfirm characters and had to be removed during development because of DLC that may not have even been finalized yet, but you're also assuming that is the only possible or likely reason that their spirit is missing. Alternative reasons they might be missing have been suggested, but its also fully possible that said spirits just weren't included for reasons we won't ever know.

Anyway I think this fanbase is a tad bit obsessed with """proving""" things sometimes. We dissect everything we're given looking for patterns and rules trying to find evidence for what we want to or don't want to believe, making something big out of every little coincidence we stumble upon. Yet time and time again we're proven to be terrible at predicting characters based off of "evidence" and I have absolutely zero faith spirits prove anything.

After the Grinch mess, it’s safe to say that the reason that most people such as myself firmly believe Spirits mean non-playable because we simply don’t want to get false hopes into grave disappointment again.

Don’t forget, has no Spirit so let that sink in.

You don't have to assume a character is "deconfirmed" to not raise your own hopes too high you know. I'm not assuming spirits deconfirm characters but I'm certainly not assuming that any characters I want are definitely in.

And sometimes it can be safe to raise your hopes as long as you keep your expectations in check. Too many people seem to struggle with that concept.

I mean we already had Pokemon Trainer and his three Pokemon so it's very possible but i doubt Agumon will be the second Namco rep

People often forget that DLC tends to have a significantly smaller budget than the base roster. If they had the budget for making another Trainer type character, I wouldn't be surprised if people would have preferred an extra character

Not fun, because Tellius is REALLY overlooked. If y’all would’ve just bought Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, Fire Emblem would’ve still been great. Up till today, there’s no story in FE as grand as Tellius.

UMMM, ACKSHUALLY... I've used Ike since Brawl, and I very much like the Fire Emblem series both old and new alike. I was dissing the older fans who have a raging hate-boner toward Awakening and up.

I used to be among those. Then I played. I think of all the 3DS games I prefer Echoes. Yet the maps are horribly aged. Awakening is literally too broken and getting the full story costs too much. Fates has a horrible story but cool maps and difficulty. I’ll just keep my opinion that Tellius was the prime of Fire Emblem. Am curious what 3 Houses will bring.

So, I figured I'd throw my hat into the ring, blatantly ignore the possibility of spirit de-confirmation because who freaking knows at this point, and explain this:

Tails. I'm desperate, is there anything else to explain? But... Support of the Sonic movie, because we all know it needs it, and well, Tails kinda just fits, not necessarily with any of the character picks so far, but the general motif has been "expect the unexpected," and what better curveball would there to be to throw, than to mix in a couple of characters that make sense?
Steve. I understand people have similar feelings toward Steve as I do toward Goku, they don't have much reasoning, they just don't want him in. However, Microsoft stuff, appealing to a younger generation... blah blah blah, all the arguments you've probably heard a thousand times from all the other steve supporters. My main argument is how many different directions you could go with Steve. he could be a Link clone, a generic sword fighter, a projectile character, none of the above, all of the above, whatever. He's a chance for Mr. Sakurai to stretch his creative muscles, (or give them a break). This is the one I'm most unsure about, mostly because of the backlash whenever his name is thrown around
Sora, for no better reason, then why not? there is only one reason he shouldn't be in, which is that he would be a licensing nightmare. (this is a perfect reason, which is why I am the second least sure about sora)
BWD. Same as Sora, (TL;DR, unique fighter, a cool franchise of origin, fan demand), but without the licensing hassle.
