God I would love for this to be true. But alas, it's still just a text leak. :U

the thing that makes this really fake is two capcom reps. we got three distinct third party dlc characters for smash 4, and there's already another new capcom character in the base game. i'd expect one but definitely not two

You could argue that Eggman would be as good of a pick as Tails since he is almost as iconic as Bowser in regards to gaming villains.

To be honest, I'd actually prefer him over Tails...

Not really I'd just imagine each of the remaining 4 DLC characters from all be from an separate company. Only chance I can see a second DLC Capcom character is through a 2nd DLC Season.

i know i just said that ken was already a new capcom rep and am now arguing the opposite for richter but hear me out

ken is actually pretty substantially different in some ways compared to ryu, they're similar but they do have distinct versions of their own attacks. richter is basically just a skin for simon

and also it probably wouldn't matter if i counted him as a second konami rep because we are probably not getting another konami rep any time soon

On top of that. Richter being an Echo simply has the same moves as Simon as well as character model granted different design so not taking up too much time.

That'd actually be neat all around.
Dante and Nick would be amazing, Terra isn't my preference for FF but she's neat regardless and would bring stuff from the best FF game and Porky would be interesting depending on how they went about with him. I'm into the idea of him being like Doctor Octopus with the Spider Mech being the final smash.

Only question is why Capcom but not other gaming companies? Is it because Capcom has as much variable franchises as Nintendo does and popularity? Because that's the only thing I can come up with for why.

BTW by no means I'm objecting two Capcom characters taking up two of the slots I just personally don't see it happening and if it does well cool then. I'd hope for one of those to be Phoenix Wright.

And that would likely get outweighed heavily by the cheers. There's always someone who's going to complain at something.

And it's not Capcom's fault if they're playing the most ball and thus get more fighters, or that their lot of characters has more that interests people.

The whole company representation isn't really a proper metric to try and base this stuff off.

Why SEGA has more unique characters than any other company at the point? I don't think they are trying to keep everything balanced between companies.

i think a more accurate way to say it is like

would nintendo actually be willing to get the rights for two characters in smash bros? the reason i'm expecting monster hunter is because they already have the rights for it, so like, why not. i know there's multiple capcoms on the roster (and again i fully expect another) but there are limits to how much companies can agree on something

i mean i just also would rather have that slot taken up by a more interesting third party character instead of our fifth capcom
