I wouldn't count characters like Rosalina or Daisy as Main characters either, aside from sports spinoffs they were never even playable. They made it in by popularity.

Rosalina was playable in Super Mario 3D World so she kinda is a “main character” if playability is what defines that

But Geno was playable as well, which Shroob suggests isn't a protaganist/main character.

The important factors for a character getting in are, the main character is first for the franchise, after that its whoever else Sakarai wants to put in. I don't think the characters position in the game matters. Whats holding back Geno is more to do with relevance and securing the rites to use the character. He is a character that the silent majority playing this game wont recognize. That is the likely reason he was left out.

Having both Banjo and Master Chief gives me mild agita.

Unlike most of these characters, I really don't think Master Chief would get in (or can get in, let me explain...). Unlike every character so far, MC has never been on Nintendo systems in any form. Even Cloud had minor appearances before he showed up in Smash (Theatrhythm Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories).

From his comments about Cloud, "having appeared on a Nintendo console" is something Sakurai actually considers when picking 3rd Parties (and this "rule" has yet to be broken), (Joker appeared in Persona Q2, in a major role)

It doesn't make much sense from a business standpoint either. Including Master Chief in Smash would be direct advertisement of Microsoft's Flagship Video Game franchise, it doesn't matter how buddy-buddy Microsoft and Nintendo are currently, I simply don't see it happening. Banjo at least makes a little sense, because he used to be a part of the Nintendo line-up (and would be considered to have "come home", making millions of fans happy).

At best, Nintendo and Microsoft being friendly with each other will mean Banjo or Steve?, I don't see anyone else as likely on that front.

Regardless, in terms of the actual characters, I'd at least give them a fair shake (I really like playing as K. Rool, though I was never a strong backer of him).

Pichu back throws me, Dark Samus N-Airs me, and Ness, who brought out his bat, aimed to the opposite side of Dark Samus, which ****ing hit me and made me lose the game. That dude knew, that was no accident.

Just turn your brain off and start throwing out moves that you think will hit.
Chances are they will and you'll pull a triple kill or some **** if you're lucky.

At least that's my experience with Ike smashing people with his hunk of metal.

I've done that before. In Smash 4 I landed and killed with a Falcon Punch that killed all three people. I'd show the replay but you know how these updates are and they hate old versions of the game so much they banned them.
