Should Sakurai specifically opt not to add in any of the Champions, Zelda or Link getting their movesets re-worked with the Champion's abilities would be great to see. Ganondorf getting his moveset reworked in general would also be nice.

As for new characters, there's so many they could go with, that I'd be happy either way. Midna, Impa, Ganon, Tetra, Skull Kid, any of the Champions, and more. Only characters I wouldn't like would be a 3rd Link or Tingle.

However, if they were to go with 'Triforce wielders only', then Tetra, Ganon, and alternative variations of Link would be the only options. Hopefully this 'no one-offs' thing ends with the new Smash.

Since Smash has a glaring lack of spear fighters and an abundance of sword fighters, I'd rather get both Mipha and Bandana Dee. Admittingly, Urbosa and her sword doesn't sound nearly as exciting to me as any of the other three Champions.

I know that's not a popular opinion. That's just how I feel personally. Although I'd gladly take Urbosa over nothing at all.

For me, the ideal Zelda newcomer situation includes Mipha, Tetra or Midna & Wolf Link. At this point, I'd be happy with basically any new Zelda character, but those would be my preferences.

Twink Link, I'm dying. So happy to have accidentally started this conversation for my fellow gays. Hopefully Nintendo realizes that we want Link to be gay in the next big Zelda game.

As for other potential Zelda newcomers, I feel like Tetra isn't totally done for. It wouldn't surprise me if she comes back in some shape or form in the series, as she is a pretty well-received character and isn't a one-off thing like Ghirahim or Midna/Zant.

Speaking of runes and champion powers, I always see people giving Link the runes and Zelda the champion powers but what about the reverse??? I mean Zelda technically uses neither but her using the Sheikah slate was an important part of her character. I'd love very her to play as Fantasy nerd using ancient tech. Thoughts?

As for Champions....yea I know no one wants more sword users but I want big desert mama . Maybe Tetra??? She's somewhat recurring and full of pirate potential.

If we get a Zelda newcomer, I'm sticking to my guns and going with Skull Kid. Sakurai is clearly aware of how popular he is, MM3D was released during the perfect time for him to be considered and he has a lot of potential for uniqueness. Also we get to throw an angry genocidal moon at Mario. What is there not to love?

This is honestly the best case scenario. Smash Ganondorf fans still get the same smash Ganondorf, and Zelda fans get the magical pig with a trident. Win-win.

I think including the Champions in any existing character's moveset would be a bad idea. They're so directly tied to BotW that it'd be nearly impossible to work around them in the next Smash game, assuming Sakurai uses a different Link and Zelda. They'd likely be replaced in a heartbeat.


Skull Kid? I've kinda lost all faith in the guy. He's had a total of three opportunities to get in Smash. If Sakurai wanted him in Smash, I'm sure he would have done it by now. Instead, it feels like the final nail in the coffin was when he got announced as an Assist Trophy, much like other Zelda characters I wanted in Smash.

Didn't think about the bombs that's a super valid point. Link uses both so he could have worked with either. BOTW Zelda interests me way more for the big nerd she is rather than the generic goddess desecdant she tried to be, so I'd rather her be represented that way. But Link does need the slate for bimbs, unless they both had the Sheikah slate....

At least we can all agree that Sakurai ****ed up if he leaves Zelda with the same awful Moveset.

I'm afraid Skull Kid has to face the competition of far too many people in a similar position: Midna, Wolf Link, Young Link with masks, Tetra, Ghirahim, Fi, Impa, the Champions... It's almost like the hypothetical roster slot for a Zelda newcomer is the prize for the last one standing within a shark feeding frenzy.

Basically, im asking what the **** I can expect if we get a champion.
(no spoilers if possible. Im more than willing to be in the dark about the champions moves if it actually spoils story stuff lol)

Someone a while back was talking about how Terra would be added from FF6, but crazy thought:

If any FF6 character got added, it might be Kefka. Kefka is by far the most popular character from that game and is only rivaled by Sephiroth for FF villains.

That said I very much doubt we are getting more FF characters.

Mipha has a spear, water magic stuff and healing abilities which she gives link. Daruk is a goron so rolling and he has a big ass sword, I don't think he's shown with any fire abilities but they could give him some I guess, he gives link a barrier to block attacks. Urbosa has a sword and electric powers, and revali sucks...but he has a bow and wind powers or something I don't care.

And I agree on sidon, he could get it...I mean... he'd make a really interesting fighter...or something...whatever

They all have magic related to an element, many liberties can be taken with that.

Mipha has a spear, Urbosa has a sword and shield, Daruk has a big stone club and Revali has a bow.

The one Champion who has little chance if people think Decideueye is such a shoe in is Revali. Two bird archers? A shame because Revali is pretty popular.

Not surprised to be 'd but my Revali point is important.
