Okay guys. Hypothetical scenario.

At the Game Awards, Nintendo shows a new Metroid Prime 4 trailer along with the announcement of the Metroid Prime Trilogy port. Then, as to cap this Metroid bonanza and try and "win" the Game Awards announcements, they also announce Sylux as the first Fighters Pass character to promote their new Metroid games.

In this hypothetical scenario, have we reached too much Metroid added to Ultimate? Because as a Fire Emblem fan, I think fair's fair.

In all seriousness, if that happened I’d imagine there’d be a sizeable portion of the community saying there’s too many metroid characters, but it wouldn’t become a huge deal across the fanbase until they added a 6th.
Imo, metroid would be well-represents with a bit extra if Sylux got in. Nothing to complain much about for me.

considering Damus is just an echo, the most Metroid would've gotten is a real stage to replace Pyrosphere and two characters which isn't unreasonable at all.

As a heavy Metroid fan and a casual Fire Emblem fan, nah. Metroid's been shafted in previous games a lot (it was a total afterthought in 4) that I was joking about it suddenly getting a ton more content next game. And here we are with Ridley and Dark Samus in, bringing Brinstar Depths and Frigate Orpheon back with them. At that point I say just bring it on, Metroid isn't even poorly represented like Fire Emblem since they have all the important characters in with their own variety.

As a Fire Emblem I think the more Metroid representation the better.

That's kind of been my thought process.

I love Metroid. But I don't think I'm as big of a Metroid fan as I am for some other franchises. I'm extremely happy with Metroid's new Smash representation-- specifically Prime's-- and I'm not against it getting more. But after seeing how many people started outright hating Fire Emblem after getting two newcomers and a DLC fighter in Smash 4, I wondered if the community would gang up on Metroid for "stealing spots" in the same way, or if Metroid is too beloved for that to happen.

In Smash 4, Fire Emblem representation jumped from 2 characters to 6, including DLC. 1 being an echo, 1 being a touched up semi clone, and the other 2 being entirely unique.

In this hypothetical situation, Metroid would have jumped from 2 to 5, including DLC, with 1 being an echo, and 2 presumably unique characters.

So no, not only is it not mathematically fair, we still need one more semi clone for that branch of logic to work

(For the record, I want neither series to get anything more, but that's just me)

I mean at that point I'd consider him all but a lock for Smash.

My idea for a Fusion Samus moveset is that it’s just Samus/Dark Samus but the Special Movies are opposite. Down special is samus’s up special etc

As a fan of Metroid, I have absolutely zero interest in Sylux and think Metroid is perfectly fine with the playable representation it has. I'd hope other first party franchises would get some more love before metroid gets a fifth rep.
