If anything, if Vergeben's source was told that by SE, then it sounds like Geno's name is going around internally there, and people being told not to take him seriously sounds really suspicious imo.

I mean, of all characters, why mention Geno at all? Kills them "literally who lol" arguments.

Happy birthday! On the bright side, Geno still hasn't actually been deconfirmed. Just because it's said that he "shouldn't be taken seriously" doesn't mean it was a flat out deconfirmation. Otherwise it would've been said that he's not getting as said for Sora.

Turned out, it was Serpthoih, Dragon Quest character, and Crono out of 7 characters on Vergeben's leaked list.

This sounds like bull****, but it's bull**** that appeals to my tastes.

SE has stated (At least the Dev team for FFXIV) that even getting old music is hard within SE. FF music is all sorts of ****ed legally speaking.

Pretty much. Square-Enix is in a weird position. They are amazingly respectful to their creatives, legally speaking, but this also makes it harder for them to do crossovers even in-company.
As an example, its not just music, but designs as well. Notice how the amiibo bases for the Cloud amiibo figures say 'Character Design: Tetsuya Nomura', along with anything else featuring characters drawn/designed by Nomura for Square-Enix..it seems to imply he owns some portion of his own artwork, which could have prevented the PNG files for characters he designed from appearing as spirits as well.

This is honestly why I don't think its Square-Enix being stingy or being a-holes, but more-so due to a lot of red tape that Sakurai or Nintendo may not have felt was worth trying to cross when just getting Cloud, Midgar and the two music tracks was seen as 'adequate' representation. Lets admit, the more important thing for any series is the character(s) included.

They had to be reworked for Sakurai´s vision of the game (or a more fast paced game) which in turn means that they would need to receive approval from Sega and Namco. Sakurai has spoken about it. They have teams for every franchise working with them deciding what gets approved. If Sakurai could make any changes he wanted about the characters, I doubt some of the characters would have the stale costume choices that they have.

Since neither of the two Sonic stages are new, I didnt think about adding them to the list of new content even if as you say, having two stages is notable.

I brought up the two stages in one game due to that being a new thing for any 3rd party series ( all reuse their single stages, had to get a new stage, and lost a stage on the way to Ultimate...left us with Land and not the superior Maze). In a way, each 3rd party has something others don’t...except for SE

Sega- most amount of stages and Smash longevity, practically becoming the face of 3rd parties in Smash...well is at the least (also saved all of Nintendo and had the best death in WoL)
Capcom- most amount of songs (also broke the least amount of hearts)
Konami- 1st to join Smash, starting it all, and the only one to get a new stage (also has Codecs)
Namco- helped develop Ultimate and has the oldest 3rd party character (also the only company to have an item without a playable rep)
Indies- Shantae and Risky Boots as Spirits, Shovel Knight as an AT character (also having a spirit)...excellent debut for Indies
Square Enix-...least amount of songs...?

True... but I did not expect that much new content from Capcom, especially in the music department.
Like when I saw the music list for Mega Man and Street Fighter being bigger or as big as some other major Nintendo properties, I was really surprised.
Kind of funny that it took Mega Man getting into Smash to get Capcom to realize that people genuinely want more of him.

Tmk him getting into Smash had nothing to do with them using him more or not, apparently it was more a thing of not knowing exactly what to do with the series after Inafune left and the failure of MN9 and the success of the Legacy Collections was what got them to start up another game in the series

at least after the backlash they gave the option to chrono trigger on steam to ... not look terrible (replace those terrible mobile sprites with nes sprites)
