If people really think they are the victim and they should have their way when they want to remove characters people like because of their own selfish cynicism, then they deserve to have their tears made into a soft drink.
It's presemptuous of you to call my annoyance with clones "selfish cynicism". Again, I said I tolerated Dr. Mario, I was just confused about why his inclusion in Smash is not questioned the same way Metal Mario is questioned in Mario Kart. We're just discussing a video game at the end of the day, there's no need for ad hominem and any talk of tears. I'm not losing sleep over clones, it's a mild annoyance that I understand a few people don't have.
I was simply explaining my viewpoints on clones since every time I bring up the idea of turning clones into alts, not even cutting them, there's so much pushback involved. On these boards, I understand clone characters are beloved, since we are the people who care most about this game, but the general public hates them. Again, I'm not speaking for myself, but the general audience for these games.
If I ask any person, be they my friends, or random people who've known about Smash, what their opinion on Dr. Mario on Smash is, they'll scoff at me, asking why one character should get two slots. This isn't a small enclave of people either, the
vast majority of people see it as unnecessary, so let's not write off the opinion as mere fanboy tears.
I also want to clarify that I like Dr. Mario the most out of the clones. Really I'd actually argue he's more of a semi-clone, my only real issue is the "same character" thing. The clones that actually irritate me are the copy-paste clones like Lucina and Dark Pit because I loved those characters and they have enough original material in their games to warrant at least being Luigi-esque semi-clones.
