Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

I mean we can all **** on it now with the benefit of hindsight, but at the time it was really convincing. I don't think there's any shame in having believed it was real, most people did.

there's like a 1000 spirits to keep track of. i'm running under the assumption that someone just forgot instead of it being a tangible hint at playable porky.

personally I’d lose my mind because if Nintendo chose Porky then that could mean a possible Mother 3 localization, or just any kind of Mother game on the Switch. He’d also be a pretty unique fighter given that he fights in his spider capsule.

How do you know he is inside and that's not the capsule before Porky got inside? If it was a Porky spirit, shouldn't it be called something like "Porky (Absolutely safe capsule)"?

I just think it's really funny, this was literally the most elaborate, big brain 5000 iq 4D chess game that has ever been played on the Smash community. I really wonder who did it

I gotta say.

I'm really looking forward to World of Light and Spirits in general.

Every single collectible will have some spin or challenge to it.

I LOVE IT! It also makes all the characters not playable feel like they're still cared about. There's gotta be a lot of love and respect to reference some element of each character.


Oh and one major plus is that unlike trophies, they aren't limited to the past generation of games. They no longer have to port over models. Spirits can take any character from any avenue from Nintendo (and third party) history regardless if the game came out 30 years ago or 3 years ago.

It's the first time since Melee where I felt characters from every walk of Nintendo were being included. Brawl and Smash 4 made it obvious that they were porting most of the content from other games of the time period and that always stuck out to me as a negative.

I'm very excited for spirits.

I really hope the interest in Castlevania generated by Smash convinces Konami to get back to making classic castle-crawlers instead of trying to rip off God of War. Megaman 11 and Sonic Mania proved that doing the same old but doing it well can still be successful.

Not related to topic, but Absolutely Safe Capsule must be the biggest nightmare fuel in pretty much any fiction.

I personally never believed it, it always seemed sketchy to me and the amount of characters I found to be outlandish, not to mention several inconsistencies with things Sakurai had claimed in the past.

Well duh, that's because people like Agumon and Digimon, I would love to have him as DLC and I would buy him without any doubts... but I don't think it will happen.

I’m gonna level with you I don’t think Augumon is happening, if we’re getting someone from Bamco it’d probably be Lloyd, Heihachi, or even KOS-MOS from Xenosaga.
