Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

Wondering, do you think it's possible that one of the DLC Charcters is Monster Hunter?
Very possible.

Monster Hunter is a very successful franchise and it would make a lot of sense for Nintendo to want to promote/advertise it, which is far from bad. Unlike other examples of advertisement, the franchise has a very strong community and the games are alive and rich with all kinds of crazy monsters and has earned its prominence in video game culture. It's been organically ingrained in the mindset of many, considered to be a series that evolves with every sequel rather than regressing. Sure, some are just alright (MH4U -> MHX), but it's still big and important enough to not consider.

Even as a guy who has Phoenix Wright as his number one want, I can't be upset to lose to Monster Hunter. The series is massive and I feel like weapons-wise a lot of that cool fantasy weaponry I'm hoping for out of Dovahkiin could be manifest through her moveset. Plus she's super cool in MvCI. If anything the surprise is that Rathalos is in base game and she isn't. Combine this with a lack of a Spirit and you have a very compelling case for her as one of the five DLC characters.

Yeah - i definitely agree with this notion. I think the reason why MH is not in the base game is they talked to Capcom about MH after the base roster cut off date so they decided to add in Rathalos and have MH as DLC

What if he just. Isn't. What if it's Crocomire or something weird and Sylux was nothing more than just another dude in the DS game. That'd be some ****.
Crocomire would be sick as **** in 3D actually.

I'm a biased Geno fanboy, but honestly, it feels like Geno is the most likely Square Representative for DLC if we assume that Spirits don't deconfirm characters. After all, he seems to be the one character that Square is quite willing to give Sakurai access to without being too stingy about, and since Yoko Shimomura is quite involved with Smash as it is, her music may not be as hard to get the rights to as Final Fantasy music. (That said, that second point also applies to her Kingdom Hearts music, I suppose.)

Can't get enough of Mega Man's remixes.

Bayonetta's weapons are all made out of demon souls tmk
Yeah, her weapons come from angels mostly. Dante's weapons are primarily demons.

I don't think using a side character as promotional material makes much sense but who knows what Nintendo thinks.
He's supposed to have an important role of sorts. Namely that they hinted of his return in Prime 3 and Fed Force. He's also a bit of a cult favorite for some Metroid fans. Since he's pretty cool looking and can snatch health. That and his mysterious past and all that.

Weavel would have been cooler to me since he's connected to the Space Pirates and could have been one of Ridley's top underlings or something. Also he looks like Fulgore with a visor.

I like most of the Hunters myself. Spire's tragic past of trying to find his people, Noxus being the only other hero that's not Samus ect ect.
