Are you seriously going to tell me with a straight face that Sakurai could make a moveset out of Piranha Plant, yet he couldn't figure out a moveset for Chun-Li?
Like, I know there have been instances such as Heihachi in Smash 4 where they couldn't figure out a good moveset got him, but even then, I would think Sakurai would come out and say there were scrapped characters.
If this is true, I feel bad for Geno fans. I'm not the biggest fan of the character, but if nothing else, they're a persistent and loyal bunch, so seeing this after factoring in what Geno had going for him is disheartening to see.
Let's hope for the best.

It wasn't a moveset for Heihachi, it was his movement. Tekken is by it's nature a 3D fighting game, and Sakurai couldn't find a way to accurately represent that in Smash Bros.

May very well be deconfirmed due to a leaker who has had contact with Vergeben along with Geno, Bandana Dee, Melmetal, and Banjo.

I can laugh at whatever I want frankly. This is the price that must be paid for Waluigi not getting in. We all must suffer.

So to connect some dots here. We DO know that a character was cut due to vaanrose looking into the fighter reddit post awhile back. (Will find a link)

HOWEVER with how the fighters were listed, 3rd party characters would be shown towards the end of the list.

YET, the number is indicating that this unknown newcomer was towards the beginning of the list (Likely 1st party/Nintendo Character)

SO since Xeno is saying Chun Li was cut, It doesn't line up with what we know from the spoilers we have been getting.

Unless she was scraped super early and traces of her inclusion was wiped clean, I highly doubt Xeno knows jack.

Major Red Flags coming from this guy who has been active for a little over a week.

Don't go saying I confirmed a character was cut, lol. I happen to think it's a likely conclusion, but it's definitely not a fact. The only thing I'm 100% on is that if slot 92 is evidence of a cut, it's not a third party character. But that said, we wouldn't be able to tell if a third party character was cut, since they'd be after Simon. Though I find the notion that they'd get the rights to a third party character and not make complete certain they were in the final game incredibly unlikely.

I don't know about you guys, but having no Banjo, Geno, or Sora is such a Nintendo thing to do...
They really wouldn't seem too high priority for a company like Nintendo who hasn't had that much history with those characters in a while... Unlike something like Minecraft that has had a lot of relevance on Nintendo platforms over the last few years,,,

You gotta remember that since Nintendo's choosing, most of the picks will probably be from a marketing standpoint on Nintendo's end... Not necessarily picks specifically chosen to please the fanbase...
Don't know what to say about Bandanna Dee though... I'd assume he was one of the plausible choices on Nintendo's list of characters that could've been used... Probably Sakurai Bias...

For me, yes, it's Bandana Dee. But the idea of the Square rep being neither of the two people want most, and there being no Banjo despite his chances being at their highest, is concerning.

Feels bad, but it doesn't conflict with any current information I have. I've known Sora was unlikely for a good long while. Hopefully we get Terra, Bartz, or Neku. They'd all be cool in my opinion.

Also forgot to mention, he brings with him one of the most reused battle themes of all of FF.
That reason being because it's pretty damn awesome.

Still. Don't blame Sakurai. Blame Nintendo for not getting Intelligent Systems to make another Advance Wars. Sakurai himself has said that franchises with no future don't get as much priority as active or relevant franchises. To most modern Nintendo fans, like the ones that play Animal Crossing games, Advance Wars is quite obscure.

Oh trust me those two companies are at fault for the massive hiatus that the series had to endure.

And like I said before, franchises don't have to be relevant to get that kind of representation. It's not the same thing as getting a character which TBH is the only thing that would make sense in this case.

Regardless, though, I just find it strange that this guy knows who was cut.

It seems that DLC was already set in motion prior to Sakurai’s tweet (November 6).

There’s a DLC shop and Add-on directory in the hex files.

Does this mean dlc characters are in the files?

Don't apologize. I was just saying there's an important distinction. Sakurai and his team can come up with a moveset for practically ANYONE, so I'm sure the moveset wasn't a problem, but representing the game properly was due to Tekken being a 3D fighting game and Smash being 2D.

Makes me highly doubt xenother knowing that he was the one who said that.

I don't like vergeben, but I hope this is true. Steve getting into Smash would be incredible, and I wouldn't mind if we got someone like Slime for the Square Enix rep either. That would be a great choice since it has a lot of historical significance.

There you go. A good mix of first party marketing characters and some third parties. Dee isn't the only good DLC choice, there are so many and we shouldn't be surprised if anyone doesn't make it in. There are only 5 slots.
