He has claws, so he has claw attacks, which look like they'd hurt.I like the 3 replies in unison.
Well that's cool. I think he's a cool looking character, though I don't know much about him personally as I have not played the game. I certainly won't write off his chances, especially since all 3 of you cleared that question up for me lol. What kinds of things does he doe outside of the rolling thing?
he doesn't just roll, he's got a rad attitude and his sidekick is some annoying flying mammalI like the 3 replies in unison.

I've only played one Starfy game and it was freakin adorable. That being said, this guys makes Kirby games look hard.Guys, the only all-star we really need is
You know, because he IS a star... Hahaha ha hmpf.
In all seriousness though, I'd love to have him upgraded from AT to playable even though it isn't that likely.
Claw attacks are his other way of attacking besides rolling. I've only ever played the first game (so far), but he can equip stuff like bandana's, goggles, gloves and boots and use special attacks with them, so using a little imagination would probably give him a pretty solid moveset. Plus the main aspect of tower defense in the games. Add in guns and whatever the Dead Heat Breakers might give him and we're set. What kinds of things does he doe outside of the rolling thing?
As long as he is in the game in some fashion and not just as a simple trophy it's fine by me. But I'd classify him amongst those dormant Nintendo franchises that you never know if they might give him a surprise revival. Who knows? Maybe they'll surprise us.I've only played one Starfy game and it was freakin adorable. That being said, this guys makes Kirby games look hard.
The thing going against Starfy, like quite a few characters, is the fact that he has not had a game since 2008/9, so not in 10 years. So I think he may just stay being the happy-go-lucky Assist Trophy that he is, which isn't a bad job.
Sure it is. You are allowed to be wrongEven cuter than Kirby IMO
Hence the IMO There IS no right or wrong on this. As I said before to each their own taste.Sure it is. You are allowed to be wrong
I have to be honest, I find it a little hurtful (and maybe even somewhat rude) you either didn't read or just decided to ignore everything I anyone else was saying for the last 4~(?) pages there and then immediately made a mock statement that directly conflicts what I, or literally anyone in that topic, actually ever said.I still stand with the opinion, if Steve from Minecraft could get in, Trevor from GTA5 also could.
SALES AND POPULARITY OVER ANYTHING
To be fair, I believe that is an edit. Don't quote me on that, though.Sure it is. You are allowed to be wrong
Isn't he getting a new game in about a month, though(?)I stopped replying because I wasn't trying to get an infraction for memeing too hard lol
Do people think Dillon actually has a chance as playable? Due to the rather small size of that franchise, I was never really under the impression he'd be added to Smash as a playable character. I thought the Assist Trophy role was perfect for him, and his franchise hasn't really gained any ground since then to my knowledge. Just the recent announcement of another title.
I mean, it's not completely unfounded. Almost nobody here has actually even ever played his games. He's relatively unknown/niche.yrup 2

The new game will be physical in Japan and Europe.Let's get Dillon in Smash. I think he's got the games and the relevancy to make it in.
The thing is, however, have his games sold well? Like are the popular among consumer and stuff, and has he actually gotten a physical release. If not, then I'd put him in the same category as Mallo, for characters I'd want from eshop games.
Good post if anyone wants to make a Dillon move-set.you guys are making fun of a video game character i like
how r00d
a lot of sonic's attacks involve kicks, dillon's got stubby little legs the guy's not gonna be a sonic clone smh
that or he's gonna be absolutely awful because he has no range
Dillon usually bounces off of opponents after he rams into them, and follows up with aerial slash combos. He can also stop into his opponents and grind into them, granted they're solid rock so it makes more sense in that context but still. In Smash it'd probably act like a command grab of sorts. His fighting style is definitely more ferocious in comparison to Sonic.
He gains the ability to burrow/traverse underground in combat, and lands uppercut-esque rolling attacks like that. A good example for translating it into Smash is probably Knuckles' down smash in Project M.
He also has access to explosives via TNT / Crystals that allows some tool usage too. In the new game he has this attack on titan looking weapon that lets him create grounded shock waves: wario land shake it style, it looks pretty slick.
This isn't considering possibilities with incorporating a Tower-Defense mechanic into him too.
please don't call him a sonic hes more than a ball
Hey now, you're an all-star, get your game on, go play! You'll never shine if you don't glow
Why do these lyrics actually work as responses?
i dont think anyone here said it, i just wanted to address that before it became a thing lolPeople calling Dillon a Sonic clone? Really?
Dillon is nowhere near a Sonic clone.
I only meant it jokingly as he has a spin dash. Was meant more as a jab at people that would say that he would be a clone.People calling Dillon a Sonic clone? Really?!

I seen this, and I will take it.Sure it is. You are allowed to be wrong
I honestly suspect the only reason why it is so unpopular is that no one really digs in the small Nintendo franchises anymore.I've played the first two Dillon games and they're terribly underrated. He has incredible potential for a moveset and Sakurai wouldn't even have to study his games too closely as it's all there for you from the start.
Tunnelling, throwing dynamite, flying with Russ then a traditional western Grock Country tower defence stage.
I don't think that having three Xenoblade reps on the roster is out of the question. The series is quickly gaining speed and popularity in a similar way that Fire Emblem did post-Awakening. I think that the continual development of Xeno games is assured, so there's no reason for Sakurai not to consider an XCX and XC2 character.I have a very interesting topic for you guys regarding new playable Xenoblade representation:
Do you think Elma would have been heavily considered as the promotional candidate for Smash 4 DLC? Given that around the time, Xenoblade X released at a timespan where Sakurai considered characters from recently released games in 2015. Do you think her being excluded was a result of not wanting to add more representatives from franchises Sakurai recently made playable in Smash 4, kinda like Villager and the Animal Crossing series? I think around that time of DLC, XCX was at its primetime of being easily included in the DLC selection, and Elma already had the gameplay potential to be in Smash. I think the fear of adding more representation override Sakurai wanting to add her in the game.
I think it is pretty likely that Sakurai will consider a XC character in general for the next Smash. Do you think Sakurai would have much of a dilemma choosing between making a XCX or XC2 character playable because of both games being sorta developed around 2015? Or do you think he would add both because both offered great gameplay potential to get in the game. I think that Sakurai would likely know of the Blade concept from XC2, given that he would hypothetically negotiate a XCX character with Monolith Soft also likely letting Sakurai know that they are also developing XC2 for the Nintendo NX to make both Rex and Elma possible to be in the base roster.
Do you think Sakurai would only have one slot reserved for a Xenoblade newcomer around that potential time of negotiation? Would Sakurai be that open to adding more Xenoblade characters if he known about XB2's Blade concept?
I have so many questions that need opinions and answers. Because Elma is becoming a more plausible option for Smash Switch to me the more I think about Xenoblade X.
Problem with that comparison is that all the FE characters (with the exception of Lucina) are main characters of their games an as most FE main characters tend to be sword-users, you can't reasonably expect many non-sword using FE characters in Smash. Not really a good comparison to Pokemon since there is no special focus on any specific type of Pokemon. In regards to the type duplication, I'm not sure if that's even intentional. Sakurai has a million sword-wielding Fire Emblem characters even though there's plenty of other options. If Gamefreak wanted him to use Zeraora and Sakurai thought of a way to make him unique, type (probably) doesn't really matter.
I'll look at it from a positive and negative standpoint.I have a very interesting topic for you guys regarding new playable Xenoblade representation:

Elma basically has perfect timing to be chosen for Smash Switch kinda like Celica in early 2016, but adding Rex too, that is a more complicated scenario to think about.
Firstly:I'll look at it from a positive and negative standpoint.
Xenoblade has been gaining momentum ever since Shulk's debut in Smash 4. The original game got ported over to the New 3DS, X did fairly well, and Xenoblade 2 became the best-selling game in the series AND the first game in the series to reach one million in sales, all in under a month. Obviously the series is getting more popular, and if the trend continues, it only makes sense for Nintendo and Sakurai to want more newcomers in Smash. When development started, Elma was a character from the most recent Xenoblade game. If Sakurai chose the roster before he was aware of XC2 and already put a decent amount of time on creating Elma, I'd say we get both her and Rex/Pyra.
However, we should also keep in mind that it's very rare for franchises to receive two unique newcomers in one Smash game. Not only that, but if Sakurai really decided the entire roster before the end of November 2016 (which I don't think is likely, but for this argument's sake, let's say he did.), then we're still looking at only two months between the roster and the official unveiling of XC2. Obviously the trailer from the January Switch presentation indicates that the game was close to being finished, so it seems like a stretch for Sakurai to have not known about the game's existence. But even if we assume he didn't know, it's unlikely the development team would have finished much work on Elma (or any other XCX character) in that two month timespan. It's possible we could be looking at another Chrom situation, where Sakurai intitally plans for one character but changes his mind later so he can add someone who he feels would be a better choice.
Ultimately, it comes down to timing. I personally think that Rex/Pyra will be the only newcomer Xenoblade reps we'll get for this game, but I could be wrong. For all I know, this could be another Smash 4 FE situation.
What makes Elma potentially more likely is mostly the way Sakurai develops his games. For the most part he has a 'game plan' he develops before the game goes into full development and only small deviations tend to occur (Late development characters and the like). Given when it was likely for Sakurai to have made the plan it would bit sometime after Smash 4 DLC concluded meaning Xenoblade 2 was in early development at best. So unless it is going to be one of those late development type of situations content from XBX would make more sense as far as timing is concerned.I don't really follow the timeframes of how Smash lines up with XCX and/or XC2, but I personally wouldn't mind at all if we got both Elma and Rex/Pyra. I mean, Monolift Soft's next project is something different from Xenoblade so these are going to be the characters were gonna be stuck with for some time now anyway. From a plain fan/outsider view, this wouldn't seem too bad:
1. Shulk (face of the series, start of the series)
2. Elma (face of XCX, a separate/different take on the story and potential for continuation judging from the cliffhanger, or even a port on Switch)
3. Rex/Pyra (back to "original" XC setting being a sequel, being most current (=marketable) and best selling)
...but while multiple characters from the same series isn't unheard of, Sakurai will probably go with just one, at least initially. I always thought Rex/Pyra was the obvious pick but I have no idea what goes on in the inside so who knows really.

I wonder if that Vifam model he got for using the rifle for reference is specifically being used for reference for a new Smash Bros character... I honestly can't think of too many characters that would use a rifle, though, so your guess is as good as mine.Based off this timeline, I think the implication is that Sakurai was already working on Smash Switch by November which would further imply the roster may have been finalized long before that. I think it's more likely the roster was already thought up around early 2016. Regardless of when the roster was finalized, Xenoblade 2's success would not factor into roster decision as it released long after the roster was likely finalized.
Could I ask who Dillon is?
