Come to think of it, everybody in DQ4 is well-liked in general (except the old guy, not that many people care about him).

I'm curious about the names you heard for the Square-Enix characters. Would you says that the names you heards are very big characters for the company like FF protagonists/KH/Nier/DQ and that kind of stuff or like a mix of Big names and Obscure/Old characters/Obviously fake one?
Without naming one of course lmao- just your though on that so called list and opinion. A good reason to be hyped no matter who is announced?

Yeah a Sans & Papyrus tag-team would be cool, or even just Papyrus fighting with Sans standing off to the side like Pokemon Trainer (Sans could be in the Final Smash and maybe help a bit with some attacks though, or deal some attacks when Papyrus is attacked depending on damage).

Reminder that Nintendo isn't forcing Sakurai to put certain characters in. They picked the characters, but Sakurai determined if they work in Smash or not.

What does this mean? Well, if I had to guess it would be that he made the final decisions. I can't fathom that Sakurai would actually put a Fortnite character in alongside the likes of Sonic, Mega Man, or Pac Man. Or even Cloud, for that matter.

Wyoming to be honest having never played Minecraft, I have no attachment to Steve and think his original design would stand out, but not entirely in a good way. I'm bracing myself for his inclusion, and based on my reactions to everything else I'll probably be over it after a day. Or even maybe an hour.

I had an idea in regards to that, incidentally: Papyrus is the one you control, but if he's KOed, Sans gets supermad and jumps in. Really strong, but is ridiculously easy to launch even compared to Kirby and Jiggs to make up for it.

so this topic kinda ended last few pages but it's something I've thought more about than I probably should have, but I'm a huge fan of Melee's aesthetics, including stages, soundtrack, and yes even the character models. Do I think the visuals hold up? oh lord no not at all, but the whole game of Melee feels like a single cohesive thing. Characters don't look like they came from their home games, they look like they came from Melee, same with the stages and the soundtrack. Melee feels like more of a distinct game than a crossover, and it's due basically in entirety to the limitations Melee had.

At the time, these were all the GameCube games Nintendo had made, or if you'd rather look at it for the sake of the argument, the complete collection of 3D models that Nintendo had released.

this is basically nothing. The only characters who had released models at this point in time were Mario, Luigi, and Bowser in Luigi's Mansion, which meant everything else in Smash would have had to come from scratch. Not just the inability to import models, but outright not even having them to reference to make models from. Everything in the game is like that, and almost everything in Melee got their first 3D model treatment in Melee, which is pretty wild. Throw in a cohesive orchestrated soundtrack and stages with more abstract and referential interpretations of Nintendo locations and you get a very unique set of resources used for Melee. Good? Definitely not all of it, especially on the visual front. Fascinating to think about the hurdles they had to overcome (especially in an absurdly short time)? Of course. And does the game feel the most self-contained to me? Absolutely.
