I know a lot of people seem to be going full steam on the promotion train but I'd be surprised if we got more than one, maybe two promotional characters.

And I also don't think precedent is going to be turned on its head so much so that unproven IPs will find themselves with representation.

Honestly if Sakurai hadn't said anything, I'd question whether, when all is said and done, people would really be able to tell the difference.

Nintendo is deciding the DLC? Yeah, I'm out. I don't see any road forward for Saki, Elma, Matthew, Mio, Lip, Mach Rider, or any of the other characters that would excited me. I might still buy it (I didn't for Sm4sh), but I don't see a point in speculation any more.

Honestly outside of maybe Elma I really don't think any of those would be too realistic even with Sakurai and the team in full control

The only fighter we know in the past that Nintendo decided for Smash was Corrin. So Nintendo picking the fighters is bad news in my eyes.

Even when Sakurai chose characters people didn't ask for like Wii Fit Trainer or Piranha Plant, they quickly grew on people because of how strange they are as fighters. Sakurai picks either popular characters or the absolute most unique ones.

I don't really trust Nintendo themselves to do the same.

I see people still are on about Nintendo saying "These are the 5 DLC characters we want" Instead of ACTUALLY reading the text in its entirety and it goes more like "Here is a (BIG) list of fighters we think would be good for DLC. Please, pick 5 from this list that you think would work."

You know what? I am just gonna sit here, sip my cough medicine and watch everyone gloss over that Sakurai STILL PICKED THE FIGHTERS.

Mind you, I get the list could have been nothing but Promotional and 1st party only, because why build bridges with other companies?

I think we're now in season 2 for the smash speculation 'anime'. And here I thought we would just be chilling until the game releases or around January. If Nintendo can mix things up to both promotional and requested characters then I think we'll be okay. Let's just hope Sakurai knows what he's doing.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s DLC line-up is now complete. This time the selection was made entirely by Nintendo. I decide if we can create a fighter based on their selection, then come up with the plan.

There, I made it bold and REALLY big so that people can maybe chill out a bit before lynching Nintendo and Sakurai.
