This meme stopped being funny years ago. Head writer of those games doesn't work with ATLUS anymore and there is nobody in the Persona team who have experience with writing those characters.

Also, saying they "forgot" those games is factually incorrect, just this year, there were Persona songs in the P3D and P5D as DLC.

Castlevania's representation in Smash made me realize how much I want mainline SMT representation in Smash Bros. Both are longrunning series with their origins closely connected to Nintendo. Dracula's Castle being a hub for boss fights in particular makes me want a Tokyo stage with tons of demon cameos (with some Kid Dracula-tier outliers, like Raidou or P4:Izanagi). Y'all talking about how Spirits is Persona or even Xenoblade 2, but fusion came first in Megami Tensei on the NES and Guardians in if... were boosting partymember stats ages ago. And there's the obvious DMC crossover potential for a mainline SMT rep. The trailer for them practically writes itself; a demon hunter and a demi-fiend fighting with/against a Pokemon trainer, angels, witches, goddesses and vampire hunters.

Man I hate that this will never happen.

Just decided to keep on eye on them in case they come through.
I just hope that if we do get another general direct, they show off some of the games they've announced but we've yet to see, announce some new first party titles, and announce some few third party titles.
Specifically, the one third party title that I'd like to see on the Switch and would immensely increase a certain character's chances.

Look, the number of times I've been making a roster and deliberated hard over adding the Eggplant Wizard...

In terms of extreme oddball characters.... when I was younger I really wanted a Waddle Dee. Not Bandana Dee, just a Waddle Dee

There's also the primal desire I possess to have a Xenoblade Bunnit/Bunniv/Bunnia playable that overwhelms me

The only smash game I've mained Link in was Project M. I just play whoever I have the most fun with generally. My mains were:

64: Ness
Melee: Fox
Brawl: Ice Climbers/G&W
S4: Shulk

I didn't really play s4 much though which is why I've been relatively absent from smashboards compared to my activity in brawl. In Ultimate I'm interested in a LOT of characters. The belmonts, Young Link/Link, Ice Climbers, Corrin, Inkling, PT, Shulk...I have no idea who I'll play.

I was around! I actually got modded in 2007, super mod in 2008 to mod all the brawl boards, and then admin in 2009, so I was super super active around then. Back then everyone checked the brawl dojo every day so there was a lot of discussion about whatever was updated then. There wasn't NEARLY as much speculation back then because it just wasn't as big(the internet, gaming, etc). I remember a lot of Ridel and K rool and Geno wants, nothing else really. Sonic/Snake absolutely blew peoples minds and no one could stop talking about it until the game came out.
