Well talks tmk generally aren't an on the spot thing to begin with honestly. It's likely a lot of back and forth with neither side doing anything immediately. Beyond that I doubt third party spots are chosen like that to begin with since that seems kind of presumptuous to me.
That is also assuming how he would be dead set on Geno to begin with and assuming he could even get one without the other in that scenario. Him taking Sora but walking out on their other suggested character could be seen as taking what they want with one hand and flipping them off with another.

Sakurai wanting it is only one part of the equation and we don't even know if Geno is the only thing that Sakurai would even want in the first place or if he were to be unwilling to accept anything else. There's a lot of assumptions in this scenario and talks are likely far more complicated than "I want this and this" and "yes and no"

I think you're reading to much into my hypothetical scenario. My point is just that he wouldn't compromise for a character he wasn't planning on just because square suggests it. He'd take the suggestion and go consider his options. But at the end of the day, a third party only gets into smash if Sakurai decides he wants them, so it really doesn't matter what sqaure wants to push. It only matters what Sakurai wants.

I agree. I think PP is meant to represent the iconic Mario enemies - no other video game series has so many famous and diversified mooks. It’s intentionally not a Bandana Dee scenario, or even a Yoshi scenario. It’s a generic species that has roots in the very first Super Mario game, and stands for all of the Marioverse’s delightful, bizarre monsters.

While Goomba and Koopa Troopa are more well known, I think PP was chosen for the shock factor and just being a more interesting and unique choice for a fighter.

Personally though, my favorite Mario species is Boo. King Boo for Smash 6!

Honestly, looking through all this Geno talk makes me a bit sad. We've been through like four cycles of this and all of the rules that we've made one way or another have been BTFO'd by Sakurai. Scott would be confused and ashamed of y'all.
