Nah, but iconicness doesn't necessarily equate to how many appearances you make

For a good example of this, Boba Fett appears in the Star Wars movie for around 10 minutes before he accomplishes nothing and dies, and yet he is one of the most iconic character in the Star Wars universe with some of the most merchandising on the planet.

I feel like Nintendo would be able to pull something off with Disney. They already have a good partnership with Disney streaming some Nintendo events on TV, and the two even worked show together based off of the Nintendo Switch.

Come to think of it...the show's announcement came out around the time we began hearing about the SE Rep...

I swear if a ****ty Disney Channel series is what brings us Sora in Smash I'll be forever grateful to Disney Channel.

This isn't representative of the entire Japanese population.
In fact, I'd say this represents the most niche and repressed members of that society.

That said, Golden Sun is pretty ****ing dead worldwide.

K Rool was the antagonist in more than one game, but I see your point about Waddles Dees in general. They're like Toads of the Kirby series. I think more people know about K Rool and Ridley than Bandanna Waddle Dee though. And might even confuse him with a generic Dee - which was an arguement against him before PP

But my point is that BWD is not only incredibly requested but is a Waddle Dee. His species alone makes him marketable. BWD is also really popular as he has been used in a lot of promotional art.

Nah in all seriousness determining who would be the DQ rep if we got one is kinda hard. To my knowledge, there aren't many worldwide popular choices besides maybe Slime and the protagonist of DQ8.

As much as I don't like the character, piranha plant actually lends itself very well to a moveset. It's by far the most versatile mario enemy. It was probably easier to come up with a moves for him than characters like Rosalina or Zelda who legitimately don't have much to work with.

I'm sorry for my ignorance about K Rool. I know little about him. I'm just trying to make a point about how iconic and marketable Waddle Dees are in Japan and that since Bandana Dee hasn't appeared, he is likely going to be DLC due to his species. I do believe K. Rool and Ridley would have been great DLC choices from a marketing standpoint but I firmly believe a character based on a Waddle Dee is more marketable.

To be fair Jigglypuff was relevant at the time of her inclusion. She was a prominent side character in the Pokémon anime.

Pichu was an easy clone to make and was relevant at the time given Gen 2's introduction of Baby Pokemon.

Wii Fit Trainer wasn't popular in the core fanbase, but was a worldwide smash hit.

R.O.B. has historical significance as he saved Nintendo in the West.

And I've got nothing for Piranha Plant lol.

The only thing really keeping me from not wanting Slime is the fact that I just wouldn't be able to get the image of a blue Hershey's kiss being a fighter out of my head, just seems like an unfair advantage distracting your opponent with thoughts of delicious chocolate.

I'd be cool with anyone from DQ, to be honest. It's a neat franchise that I really need to try out someday.

...Honestly though, tehponycorn, I just want Crono. However, I'm too much of a realist to ever even dare dream of that having a 1% chance of happening.
