Quick question: of the already disconfirmed characters, who do you see yourself supporting for a hypothetical Smash 6?

Waluigi, Mimikyu, Knuckles, and Zero.

The only thing I think that’s going against the leak is what Sakurai has said about not too many more characters left to announce.

Whether the leak is true or fake so many of these insiders, gamexplain and others have absolutely decimated their reputations by their open contempt for people who don't blindly believe them.

My whole thing about the Grinch Leak is who of the 7 is totally unbelievable? Ken's not even argued anymore, Geno, Isaac, Shadow have been implied by various insiders before this, Chorus Kids are the only characters from the Gematsu leak in SSB4 not playable, Mach Rider was planned for Melee, and we have strong evidence that Banjo was likely the real winner of the Smash Ballot. I don't think there's anything about any of these characters that's a huge stretch. I don't understand the assertion that it's totally impossible where it seems that most insiders have hang ups about 2 characters tops (with Banjo heavily implied to be one of them).

Yeah, I never really got this either. Given the promotional campaign for this, are any of these 7 truly outstanding t the point the mere thought of them is contentious?

"This is too good to be true!", after two Directs gave two Echoes and two Newcomers people have been grinding their teeth over for years. They're not going to start out the gate with the force of a cannon blast, only to limp past the checkered flag.

I was a hardcore believer that the 8th was our date but it might be even earlier.

Genuinely curious, I'm no specialist in PR, but to my naive mind this seems like the right thing to do when misinformation spreads like the plague and may jeopardise their publicity. Yeah, people have been incredibly pessimistic for no reason since Isabelle.

There is zero reason to believe that our last newcomers are a relatively new, less of a hardcore fan pick Pokemon and a pair of echoes. People have been misinterpreting Sakurai's newcomers statement to align with their pessimism that we'll get a ridiculously small amount of characters near the end... when even if you believe the Grinch leak is real, it's STILL the smallest amount of newcomers added to the games.

This game has had genius marketing, with a small slip up with Isabelle that has a sizable theory behind why that reveal was lackluster. To think that the marketing would tank right before launch is little more than ridiculous.

Basically, he did everything people would want from an insider by being transparent with us, updating us and answering our questions, and even telling us don’t take his word as Gospel, yet he got harassed for just personally thinking the banner was fake.

I don't know the reasons, but whenever asked they say it's their policy not to comment on leaks and speculation. Probably it's best for them to ignore it and hope it dies down then to have people twist their words and add more fuel to the fire.

If it's a general Direct I wouldn't anticipate hearing a Smash Direct date.
The Smash Direct would likely be on the 8th no? So having it announced a full week ahead is unprecedented and quite frankly idiotic.

Because it'd create suspicions if other convincing fake leaks come out and they don't say something, and they can't keep being on top of leaks with the many different IPs they have. They don't need to do that anyways, the uncertainty only feeds the hype, the only thing they need to do is assure the relevant parties behind the scenes.
