And I suppose Verge's mistakes from DBFZ should overrule his accuracy with Ultimate so far? Because as of right now, he hasn't gotten anything wrong with this specific game yet.

Say what you want about Verge, but don't automatically dismiss everything he's gotten right just because this leak contradicts what he says. Between him and this leak, only one has proven to be right in the past.

And I'll give you a hint: It's not the leak.

Verge has been wrong about much more than just DBZF, and while I'll agree he's been accurate for Smash, you have to keep in mind that a lot of what he got was pre-existing from other insiders.

(1) Never said Isabelle was definitely an Echo. He just said it would make more sense if she was.

Yeah, he was saying it took some serious digging for us to find the blank banner once the leak was already out. But I don't think it did, it probably just took someone who went to E3 remembering that it was shown there and then Viola.

Fine, put up that block button. Just know that "Yoshi/Wario/DK characters don't count" is not an "argument," but a precedent set up by Sakurai and the burden is on YOU to prove otherwise (which you haven't), not us

They are all part of the same shared universe, just given different classifications based on the series.
This is why one of the "Yoshi series" stages comes from Super Mario World as opposed to a game in the Yoshi's Island sub-series, Wrecking Crew gets its own "universe" with a stage while the Golden Hammer from the same exact game is considered a Mario item, etc.

This is the ONLY thing I'm going to say on matter.

That is good to hear. Keep in mind though, that the base roster is not the end. We will have more than year of DLC to look forward, and unlike Smash 4, all additional characters will be newcomers. This is not Brawl and Melee, where we had to wait more than 4.5 years just for the next newcomer in the series. We will likely only have to wait months for the next character announcement.

I'm really wondering if this is going to be Sakurai's last Smash game. I feel like they're pulling out all the stops, what with bringing every veteran back and going for all of these pipe dream characters that people thought were literally impossible.

I don't think anyone can say that this isn't the definitive Smash, Grinch Leak or no. The fact that we're probably getting DLC on top of that is astounding. The sky's the limit.

Seeing people say "Sakurai has done so much" means one thing to me. We genuinely don't deserve this man. He doesn't like making sequel after sequel yet he does it, he puts up with the abyssmal fans and he knows it's all his career will basically be that people care about. He's a talented as **** game designer and I was a bit disappointed he confirmed Ultimate was his next project cause he makes That Good ****: The Game

Sakurai is a far better game designer than a lot of people like to give him credit for. Especially Melee fanboys. The development of Icons should be proof enough of just how much people underestimate Sakurai's talent when it comes to game design.

I'm legit of the opinion that once this is all said and done, regardless of the outcome, we should all organize ourselves to send Sakurai a thank you letter (or a bunch of them). Because goddamn does the guy deserve that after years of his hard work and dedication for all of us.

For people that believe the Grinch leak is 95%+ likely to happen, please tell me what will be your reaction if all we end up getting is Incineroar and Ken? I think the present roster is fantastic, and I actually would be fine if there were not even any more newcomers for the base game. I just want to know what the single players consists of this time around).

Probs will react the same way I did to the last Sm4sh direct. Will be a fair bit dissapointed at first, but I'll get over it in like a day.

Why is no one talking about the borders on the image? And by that I mean the black borders this particular one.

Where they circled is not important, but on the banner itself. The top and bottom of it have a black border. Possibly for the light display when hung to hold on to?

I know that some people already stated this, but, that's not supposed to be a bracelet, it's an hanging cardboard circular display.
There is the drawing of a 3D view of it in the leak picture.

Anyway, from a design point of view, it doesn't make much sense:
-if it's a bracelet (it isn't anyway), the arrow at the edge that should close it by sticking it into the hole at the opposite edge, is too small and would break very fast (both if it's gum or paper, or any other material, it still seems structurally weak and not funcional enough).
-If it's an hanging display thing, it would still be weak and it wouldn't close well enough, unless there's a plastic structure that keeps it circular. Also the cardboard is not that flexible and that arrow would be ruined the moment you try to instert it into the hole.
Anyway, the picture loops after the hole, this means that if you connect the circle, the point where the arrow enters in the hole won't loop well, the blue tiles at the edge of Battlefield will be covered by the other layer.
Additionally, the junction is not represented in the 3D view.

Those pictures are far from being technical drawings or final designs, they only make sense if they are conceptual drawings, mock-ups, sketches.
And I suspect that the structure of that arrow not being designed with the materials in mind, is another hint that this is fake, because if the company has experience in designing cardboard displays and stuff, they wouldn't make such a big error like that one, not even in the conceptual phase.

The only place where I see them using a structural solution to make the model more durable, is the Grinch hanging thing. The Grinch has a thin neck, and since the model is attached to the wire by the top of the head, the neck would have been a weak point. Having the dog in one side, and the black rectangle in the other side, fixes this potential structural weakness.
Though the black rectangle is very ugly and I have some doubts that design is final. I suspect that the black rectangle is there to match with the dog on the other side and the autor of this thing didn't even think about the fact that the cardboard neck would be weak (basically, I think it's a coincidence, because I don't see them paying attention to structural details in the rest of the works shown in the leak, at all).

A leak is a leak, denying it doesn't make it real or fake, if anything Nintendo would tell them to never bring it up.

No joke. I coined it.

I started it on 4chan, and then I began spreading it here.

It's because when it came to light, people were using the Grinch promo material to back up the legitimacy of the leak. And "Grinch Leak" sounded a lot more iconic and memorable than "the Banner leak" or the "Snapchat leak."

I'm glad it caught on, cause it led to a lot of hilarious memes.

People now just realizing that GameExplain usually hide correct information that you can't pass as Lucky guess in their "prediction" and that most of the time the reasons for this is the same as "I Can't really say why yet" or "just a hunch"
