Soo...I think the better question for all of us is, who is on Team Fake? Because it seems most are either cautiously optimistic, 100% real, or completely brain-frozen over this. I'm not seeing many detractors at all.

Considering most of us (myself including) would be very happy if this leak was true, it is unlikely that for people to actively want to be in Team Fake. I am just in it to be safe and cautious (does that make me Team Cautiously Optimistic though?).

It's soooo good to the point of being absurd. Ridley, K. Rool, Geno, Isaac, AND Banjo? 2006 Smashboards would have had a stroke. It's the long awaited closure for virtually all the longest standing major character fanbases in the Smash Community. Yes, it's very wish listy but so is Ridley, K. Rool, and no cuts with literally every character back so we polevaulted over that a long time ago.

Plus, for this to be totally fake, somebody would have gone to absurd lengths to fake this. People say that we've seen stuff like this but literally when? The most we've seen is Omni's fake Rayman and, no offense to him, but this far exceeds it, not in quality but attention to detail. You don't fake a professional printing work station with actual connections to the developers themselves. I'm still of the mind that "Eric" didn't do the actual leak and it was either 1. a coworker who wanted him to be a fall guy (unlikely) or 2. a custodian or tradesman who was just doing their job but the Smash stuff caught their attention (likely). As a custodian, this is embarrassingly common because we're usually allowed everywhere and people will leave even the most damning things out in plain sight like lawsuits because it's well known that you're beyond toast if you tell anyone. Sometimes, however, 1. people are morons, 2. they really want some juicy gossip, or 3. they're so burned out from the job that they no longer care about reprecussions.

In the end, I'm cautiously optimistic but I think we're definitely in the end game, especially with Nintendo posting a random trailer last night as if it were a quiet nod in recognition. I'm also in the mind that this might not be everyone, not including DLC, but again, it's almost so good that DLC isn't needed. This game has already gone to crazy lengths for fan service so, while it is a dream come true for a huge portion of Smash fans, I wouldn't rule it out based on this.

But about Zoe... Her franchise needs love right now, she'd have an AWESOME moveset, and she'd be a bigger surprise than anyone else they could think of.

So I hope if this new leak is genuine, that Incineroar is dlc atleast. I have become so hype over him. Atleast I'll get Isaac. Which I wanted for a while.

I do like to make a note regarding Vergeben. He was right about a lot of stuff in SC6 too. However Hwang and Lizardman was supposed to be either be part of the roster or future DLC aswel. And nothing points towards this so far as far as I can tell. So I do fear for Incineroars fate if this leak is in fact true.

Yeah it's the craziest person in the world going out of their way to make incredibly boring cardboard cut-out models using promotional material from the upcoming Grinch movie because he's thinking 47 steps ahead and knows that both Bandai-Namco and Universal studios contract the same obscure French marketing company. To this end, he then got himself an office, printed out the name of an employee of said company, and haphazardly half blurred out the name because, once again, he's some kind of super genius beyond the mental capacities of mortal man and he knew that the internet's crack team of cybersleuths would find his red-herring name in seconds.

This absolute Einstein of social engineering also happens to moonlight as an expert artist and after presumably spending hours carefully cutting and pasting characters from the Smash poster, he then went out of his way to produce 7 more drawings of his own with obscure elements like vines for Isaac that hardly anyone would be able to make out, and then, for the fun of it, he saw to making a completely unique drawing of the blank version of Battlefield just because he could. He made sure that this fake roster of his perfectly mirrored one posted on 4chan last month by someone whose first language clearly isn't English because he knew that people would immediately make the connection to the French marketing company that he is pretending produced this image. The fact that 5 new characters lines up with the 5 missing stages from Corocoro was all part of his master plan. He also made sure this coincided with Nintendo renewing relevant trademarks.

The lengths you have to go to believe that this is all an incredibly elaborate leak would make this man one of the most intelligent people to ever walk the Earth. Apparently he knew where people would look at every turn, making him at the minimum more competent than the entire government of Saudi Arabia when it comes to fakery.

I suggest you think about which outcome is the most likely here

What can I say? The guys a regular ol JIGSAW. Haha no but all jokes aside. This could very well be real. The fact Inceneroar is not in and there are still 7 characters left to be seen. It seems like that’s a little much. If there was really that many characters left then why wouldn’t Sakurai have broken up the reveals and showed some characters in July and October? Both of those months had nothing. That being said, I’d be content with this roster mainly because it has Geno in it. I’ll try the other new comers but I’m not really a fan of the other 4 new fighters in this “leak”.

Nope. If anything, I'm getting up earlier than usual for school.

I will say: even though it isn't definitive, Vaanrose's analysis seems to have at least kneecapped things and made people a lot more cautious. There's other little inconsistencies in the art as well, on top of the fact people have made dedicated leaks in the past (the UE4 NX controller mockup that was good enough to fool many into thinking it was a real-life image; the guy who convinced people he got a Switch early but actually 3D printed it). And of course none of the Grinch renders are actually new, despite what people were initially claiming.

It also happens to go against Sakurai repeatedly stressing that there's not many newcomers (which isn't really comparable to one-off comments about "reaching the limit of what can be done" over a year before release), and the overall blatant wish fulfillment look of the roster. Then there's stuff like Phil Spencer re-iterating that they'd be willing to work with Nintendo over Banjo earlier this year, or how the 4chan leak lists Ray from Custom Robo as a character cut mid-development when Nintendo outright lost the Custom Robo trademark not long after development started (which means they'd had zero interest in the series for quite a while).

I think it's fake and the people fully on board need to take a step back and have a saltshaker at the ready, because the last thing we need is Incineroar to end up more scapegoated than Corrin.

I wasn't super active here, but from what I remember overall on the internet the general consensus seemed to be it would be a port+/Smash 4.5 and that the only character with an actual chance of getting cut was Cloud. So "No Cuts" was kinda expected.

Honestly, Grinch Leak is the best thing to happen for Smash this month. We get some revitalized blood during a terrible drought. TBH I found the drought from E3 to 8/8 worse, but this has been bad too.

That's an intriguing leak.

If it is legitimately fake, I would be impressed. The designer either had access to the .psd file of the poster with the individual layers to move around, or he went through the hassle of switching characters' positions directly on the high resolution image and managed to fit new ones in here somehow.

Nonetheless, the photo being blurry is suspicious as it seems to keep discrepancies hid and even then, the poster looks unprofessional to me relatively to the 'older' ones. But also, when zooming onto the clearer version of the picture, the Shadow render still bothers me. It is like he has some sort of 3D perspective and his colors don't blend in perfectly with the rest, and his pose is unnatural.

I am still however leaning toward it being real until we get indisputable proof of it being real or fake. I really want to believe we are getting all of this, that feels surreal.
