I have returned from my sabbatical in the womb to join in the festivities.

Finally caught up to this whole affair. Seems promising.

My hopefuls going into Ultimate consisted of Ridley, K Rool, Skull Kid, and Banjo. Getting 2/4 was already a trip; 3/4, especially with BK, and my body might leave my soul.

Plausible leaks water my pores, so here's to more cracks in the pipeline.

The ONLY thing I'd like to note about this leak is to the people claiming it's too elaborate to be fake. It's really not; the dude works at a place that makes stuff like this for a living. There are constantly things with people working in the industry that make their own stuff using work computers or 3D printers or whatever they work with on their own time. It's really not out of the realm of possibility that the dude decided to make all this literally just because he could. Reminder it's not the most elaborate leak out there, plenty of people have made their own 3D models and stages and whatnot for the "fun" of making a fake leak. I'm team neutral because honestly I like the roster already and don't care who else we get, I'm sure everyone else will be fun. I just want to make a point that a dude working at a promotional company that does design work would absolutely have the ability to make something like this if he really wanted to. Not saying it's real, not saying it's fake, just that it's not "too elaborate to be fake" because as someone who designs stuff for a living and does stuff for companies for print and whatnot, sometimes we mess around with stuff for funsies.

Yeah it's the craziest person in the world going out of their way to make incredibly boring cardboard cut-out models using promotional material from the upcoming Grinch movie because he's thinking 47 steps ahead and knows that both Bandai-Namco and Universal studios contract the same obscure French marketing company. To this end, he then got himself an office, printed out the name of an employee of said company, and haphazardly half blurred out the name because, once again, he's some kind of super genius beyond the mental capacities of mortal man and he knew that the internet's crack team of cybersleuths would find his red-herring name in seconds.

This absolute Einstein of social engineering also happens to moonlight as an expert artist and after presumably spending hours carefully cutting and pasting characters from the Smash poster, he then went out of his way to produce 7 more drawings of his own with obscure elements like vines for Isaac that hardly anyone would be able to make out, and then, for the fun of it, he saw to making a completely unique drawing of the blank version of Battlefield just because he could. He made sure that this fake roster of his perfectly mirrored one posted on 4chan last month by someone whose first language clearly isn't English because he knew that people would immediately make the connection to the French marketing company that he is pretending produced this image. The fact that 5 new characters lines up with the 5 missing stages from Corocoro was all part of his master plan. He also made sure this coincided with Nintendo renewing relevant trademarks.

The lengths you have to go to believe that this is all an incredibly elaborate leak would make this man one of the most intelligent people to ever walk the Earth. Apparently he knew where people would look at every turn, making him at the minimum more competent than the entire government of Saudi Arabia when it comes to fakery.

I suggest you think about which outcome is the most likely here

But I have felt like as much as I considered it fake at first, though I wanted it to be true, everything seems to be falling in place for it, and the arguments against--are lacking, to say the least. We'll know for sure (hopefully) in a couple weeks, so I'm just gonna grab my popcorn and watch the **** show (and participate from time to time).

The characters are unfortunate scapegoats for Vergeben. Everyone just hates Vergeben and the Box and what they did to Smash speculation/the attitude Vergeben has had towards skeptics. At this point they don't want them to be wrong because they hate Incin or Steve so much as they just want stupid crap like the Box Theory and the Vergeben worship to die off so we can go back to being excited instead of arguing all the time.

If Incin gets in too, everyone will be happy with it. But him not getting in means we get to shame Vergeben off the web for being an ****** about everything, calling people autistic, and rudely shutting down everyone who questioned him in ruthless ways. The dude is an abrasive prick and deserves to be wrong. Poor Incineroar just gets stuck in the middle because at this point, a lack of Incineroar means we can ignore Verge entirely, as we should be doing already.

Pretty sure at this point, the people who are attempting to debunk the image over minor things is a repeat of what happened with people trying to debunk the ESRB leak by saying Shulk is a photoshopped Little Mac.

The weirdest thing about this leak is Chorus Kids having the Conductor as likely the main controllable character. I've been on Smashboards awhile and I don't think the Conductor was never brought up in regards to the Chorus Kids as the centerpiece of the moveset. It reminds me of the Bowser Jr. Clown Car moveset that people thought was too ludicrous to be true, but Sakurai likes to think outside the box.

This is definitely something that I think gives the leak more credit. People are over crediting some random guy that would make this if fake. No one but Sakurai could really go this far with details imo

Agreed,, except the original quote implied nothing of the sort and was in no way shape or form overly antagonistic. It was a throwaway line at best and its mountain out of molehill stuff and extrapolating at best.

Banter and ****posting is a part of the interwebz and it is something that has to be dealt with. If people cannot deal with it and take things too literally and seriously then they should put measures in place to ensure they can cope.

Yeah I felt like he was hinting at Sora, Spring Man, Skull Kid, Rex... something legitimately new in addition to that.

ATM Sora feels like an E3 reveal or a reveal held until a year from now for "game hype season" (which we are in the prime time part of the year for ATM).

Steve, maybe, but Incineroar and most other Gen 7 Pokemon (if the leak is real) will be completely forgotten by next year when Gen 8 is officially revealed. No way they'll put in what's old and busted over the new hotness.
