Why weeks? Just wait a couple of days, whether we get an announcement or not, a lot of people will be disappointed and chaos will ensue XD
I can't wait for the inevitable crashing and lagstorm (pretty much) that we're going to get next reveal. Somehow, Isabelle's reveal had the worst of this phenomenon for me.
I smell some tinted glasses, perhaps if you take a look at other FG hell even any game, most of the studios are just showing stuff because it is inevitable in this day and age to not get stuff leaked. The idea of a "bombastic reveal no one expected!!" is a bit of nostalgic, sure there will always be surprises no one expected or new stuff but in reality that romantic idea of "i want to be blown away with no previous knowledge" is a bit of not realistic with how development works and the internet these days.
Almost the second I get the game I'm going up to Seattle to visit my family and am bringing my Switch with me. Perfect timing

The internet really hasn't changed that much from four years ago. If Sakurai/Nintendo wants the reveals to be secret, they will find(/have found) a way to keep them secret.
I'm done with school when Smash Ultimate comes out (the 7th is pretty much my last day), so I'll be able to play it for the entirety of break.
Do you know you want the game? Then pre-order it to ensure that you have a copy when it releases.
They at least try to, but there's always that one rare, somehow valid leak that either actually has inside sources, like Vergeben, or just had a few lucky guesses.
I say pre-order it. Chances are, depending on where you are, stores are going to be packed and sold out on day one in a lot of places. Better to be safe than sorry.
I prefer pre-ordering. Making sure it's there instead of worrying about limited stock...

Some part of me was thinking to go to a store day 1, but I don't want to deal with the lines this time around. I've actually never pre-ordered a game in my life, so this would be a first, but I'll give it a try if possible.
Yeah, the overall user + guest count was pretty high for what we got. I actually thought my internet went out for minutes (wait, but it did multiple times).
Man you lucked out. For me, the game comes out the Friday before finals week, and I won't be finished until the 20th, so I don't know if I'll be able to play the first few weeks after release.
I'm very embarrassed to say I don't even have a Switch to use right now, so assuming I get Smash before the Switch, I'll be stuck playing nothing until maybe Christmas. At that point, I guess I would just take some photos, because why not?
Just preorder it on the eshop, it's waaay more comfortable that way XD
Well, if that's the case, try to order the Smash Bros. Switch Bundle. It comes with a downloadable code for the game, and you'd get a switch.
I'm in the same boat as you. I still don't have a Switch. I'm holding out until Black Friday/ Cyber Monday to get one since I can save a bunch of money then.
I would pre-order Smash Ultimate on the eShop, but I'm worried about how immense that file size probably is. Should I even be worried? I only have two full games and two demos installed on my Switch as of now.
Never forget the day Mortal Kombat and DC crossed over somehow, and that...was interesting.
The card from the other day and the website mention it's about 16GB (probably more like 17-18), not that big compared to games like NBA 2k or FIFA but still kinda big, mostly if you don't have an sd card
Who knows? Maybe some day in the far future, we'll have a Capcom vs Mortal Combat. . . Well, maybe not. But it's fun to speculate.

I remember joking to my friends that TMNT would be in because they had a cross over w/ Batman.
This is not so bad honestly, here on smashboards i mean. Except a few outbursts here and there, speculation is pretty civil. The 'week of the Box' was particularly bloody tho. But most of the time, the salt levels are well balanced by the mods and the voluntary peacekeepers (shout-out to Luigi The President)
No need to be embarassed about that, i don't have a Switch. I only have that good ol' Wii U, been waiting for a game like Ultimate to buy a Switch. If i'm patient enough i'll wait until Boxing Day and see if i can find some sweet deal for a Ultimate/Switch bundle.

Yeah, and guess what? It’s also Smash, which gives us newcomers and therefore makes their reveals interesting to watch and you know who else is from Animal Crossing and had an exciting reveal?
