World of Balance is, ironically, completely all over the place in terms of focus.
You start the game with Terra in the prologue, then immediatelly switch to Locke who recruits Terra. All's fine and good until the party splits, Locke and Sabin have their own little quests where they recruit more party members while the rest of the group continues back to Narshe, at which point, Terra leaves the party again until the fake alliance with the Empire is made. **** goes down, World of Ruin happens and then she's optional while Celes becomes the MC for the rest of the game.
Have we considered Verg's Square rep may be from Octopath? I can see the games success prompting an effort to get a character in (especially with how much Nintendo pushed the game itself). Obviously it probably wouldn't finish in time for base, but maybe early planning has started for DLC. Might explain why only 1/3 sources have heard of this.
Also, as a side note if Octopath ever was to make it, it'd be Primrose or Olberic. They are by far the most pushed characters as well as the most popular in West and Japan respectively last I saw.
Tressa is best main though
I'd love that tbh, it's just hard to choose one when they're all equally important(technically, Olberic still seems like where most effort went to).
Ophilia is a Cleric, she doesn't really present anything unique a White Mage couldn't do and healing skills wouldn't translate well.
Cyrus is a Scholar, same as above but with Black Mages and even more prominent with other spellcasters around.
Tressa has unique skills but is by far the most forgettable out of all of them.
Olberic has swords and spears, he could easily be a heavier and slower Ike that uses Spears too and Partick Seitz would always be great to have.
Primrose is basically a Bard but I think she has enough popularity and push to be considered, her buffs could work like Shulk's and she does have Shadow magic and Bewildering Grace which is just really funny.
Alfyn is an Apothecary, kinda like Oohilia but with an axe. Doesn't really stand out though.
Therion is a Thief, he has plenty going for him in terms of gameplay but not really a standout, though his design is pretty good.
H'aanit would be my bet, she has bows and axes and can call monsters to aid her, making her closer to a FF summoner, between all of these she has plenty to work with and her design really stands out as a hunter. Only reason I didn't use her in my party was due to Olberic sharing his Path Action but H'aanit is there at the top as one of the best of the playable characters.
