If you were Pokemon Trainer in Smash, which 3 mons would you pick?

You need a final evolution (Charizard), a second evolution (Ivysaur), and a first evolution (Squirtle).

For me, Nidoking, Hitmontop, and Corsola.

- Chespin (or Pachirisu/Emolga if they're close enough to "first evo")
- Braixen
- Breloom (if I must pick a third stage, idk; I like Gallade, Goodra, and Staraptor but I don't know how well I'd like them in a Smash setting)

Suppose Buizel in place of Chespin could round out the type triangle, as well.

Very, very conflicted, but I'm slightly leaning towards no. That would mean axing my mains (Lucina, and Corrin), my favorite Pokémon (Lucario), a clone of my favorite secondary character (Dark Pit), and my other secondary character (Palutena). Also what's with the order 66 on all the FE character that's pretty brutal. The only reason I might like it is cause I'd get Elma, Rex and Pyra, Isaac, and Impa, but no Ammy is a bit of a deal breaker, considering what I'm losing in exchange.

This. So much this. It seems very few people know the full roster so they're clearly trying to keep it secret, so why in the world would they let something like this slide? Why would whichever graphic designer that came up with the design know the final number of characters in the first place?

As i said I sincerely believe they may make Waluigi a playable character in the DLC phase, and in fact if they do ultra early DLC like mewtwo, it would inevitably be Waluigi.

I know he's an assist, but people forgot how massive the waluigi stuff was, never seen any video game related thing blow up as big outside of your typical gaming circles as waluigi is not in smash.

Still on the topic of Ganondorf, let me remind you that aerial Flame Choke is the ground pound he does in Ocarina of Time except he slams the foe down instead of a magic ball that explodes on the floor.

Not to mention that he also does choke holds in Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, so that's one move distinctly Ganondorf.

Man, did I miss a bunch of Ganondorf canon-moveset talk? Dadgummit, I miss all the good stuff. And I have to go to work so I can't join in.

Personally, Flame Choke is one of the greatest moves to be ever given to a character in Smash. Even better that it's on Ganondorf. It is ABSOLUTELY a thing he'd do. You know what the Japanese name for the move is?

FLAME PRISON GRIP.

were certainly among the most popular, but I don't find it reasonable to get all three of them + + + everyone in Sm4sh before (presumably) any newcomers.

The combo of Pokemon Trainer/Squirtle/Ivysaur probably did well enough in the Ballot and it's just two more unique veterans to bring back, while Pichu and Young Link were nearly free in character count (remember all six of the Melee clones didn't equal one unique newcomer when they were new, and it's not like Pichu and Young Link are being substantially decloned). Overall if you didn't bring those four back, you would maybe get one unique newcomer in their place. And for bringing back all the Smash 4 characters, it was a simple port job, some touchups, and balancing off a well-established base with the same development team, you would have had to cut a very large amount of the Smash 4 veterans to have gotten a substantial amount of unique newcomers in their place, which then leads to the reaction cut veterans typically get, and instead of the DLC being all new characters, it would probably be a lot of the cut veterans to satisfy this demand, while overall having a significant net negative on the total roster count.

If you looked on the previous page of this very thread you will see me point out a flaw with the box theory and Vergeben's leaks.
And if you keep looking you will see me constantly questioning the box theory.

Chrom and Lucina are clones. Roy is a semi-clone who's become a lot different from his original moveset. Robin, Corrin and Ike are entirely unique characters representing their individual games. Why would we replace all three of them-- and all the clones all at once-- with a single character from the same two games that Roy already represented?

I completely understand this forum's desire to remove Lucina and Chrom. They're echoes, they're redundant since they're both from Robin's game, and they're blue haired lords. But I don't understand your proposal to get rid of three unique movesets and one heavily modified one for... one character. One who's definitely less known than Ike, Corrin and Robin at this point.

For the box theory, we assume the final spot is an echo due to the ordering. I get that but to me, they just split it down the middle. In the end, they had 18 slots with 15 characters so they took 8 on one side and 7 on the other to even out the sides for the picture. They might not have known which side of the box would be shown so they wanted it to look nice from either side. There is no echo fighter imo hidden on the other side, there is a blank spot to even it out rather than one side being full and the other having three blank spots had they had a full set of 9

I would say i’m biased because i’m an English teacher, but plagiarism or somebody stealing your work is bull**** and shouldn’t be encouraged by ANYONE. To laugh at somebody for being upset about having their work go uncredited seems a tad...weird, to be honest. I can’t imagine finding humor in that.

Like I said, i’m sure if it were YOUR work being stolen or going uncredited, you’d be just as pissed.

To make this Smash related, I think it’s pretty cool that characters are getting alternates. The Yoshi costume is pretty awesome, and even though it maintains the Yoshi look, it will definitely stand out. Hopefully there are others like it.

Except they weren't, the renders were up on the press site for pretty much anyone with access to use. If I had bothered to check the press site at any point in the past three weeks, you bet I'd have had stuff like female Corrin up on the FE wiki faster than you could say "what's an NDA?", since as far as I could tell there was nothing on there explicitly preventing me from doing so.

SG just decided to be courteous about it and ask Nintendo first, I guess. But that doesn't mean they're entitled to go around getting annoyed about people not crediting them for it.

I looked into it a bit more and apparently they wanted credit for breaking the news that they existed, not that they were mad that other publications were showing it off and that they had exclusive rights in terms of showing it.

So... idk, I think that's fair enough reason to be annoyed tbh.

I mean... Nintendo didn't feel like they had to make an offical statement regarding any other character not being in smash.

I think people are too harsh on the waluigi fans anyway, he's a quirky character which smash needs more than most realise, and just because of a kneejerk reaction to said vocalest minority sending the edgy memes to sakurai etc doesn't mean they are all bad.

But for real, I've never seen a single reaction to a game in terms of the wider mainstream more than waluigi is not in. I know a lot of people don't want to bring up that old debacle again, but I really do believe it is worth entertaining the concept that they will respond to it. People were even worse when lucario was revealed to be back for smash 4 and people realised mewtwo may not be added in again, but they still chose to quickly add him in last minute.

It would be a PR move unlike any known before by nintendo, that's for sure

If you wanna know the complete story, you can PM me and I can break it down why it can’t be proven false(though it doesn’t make it true)
Or just trust that it isn’t a belief. We(most of us I think?) are just keeping it in mind because we do have a reason to pay attention to it.

No one that I know of has wanted to talk about it other than to clarify what it is objectively or try and give reasons not to believe it.
More than a few of us agreed last night we should tone it down on the box because it won’t get anywhere.
We’re just waiting on confirmation(or hopefully the opposite) and keeping it on the back burner.
