Very excited for the direct. Ultimate's newcomers have already blown away Smash 4's newcomers by eons so it's just icing on the cake at this point.

Final Smash would be an Aurora Borrealis(yes at this time of year, localised entirely within Smash).

I doubt Isaac will be revealed at this current time, due to the events of a week ago. I’ll gladly eat my words if I’m wrong, however.

This logic is ridiculous. I live in Florida, I’ve lived through some of the most devastating Hurricanes in human history. But do I get upset or offended when mega Pidgeot uses “Hurricane” in Pokemon? Not at all. Are they going to remove “Earthquake” from the new games now?

Let’s say you had only one character to show support for and, because of some driving, unseen force, it can only be a character that is somehow related to your username by name/theme/franchise/alphabet/etc.

For me, Venus of the Desert Bloom. Isaac is obvious pick so I’m gonna do the opposite and choose Krookadile.

The only newcomers in Smash 4 that excited me were Mega Man and Bowser Jr. I guess Cloud can be added to that with DLC, but with DLC I'd say Corrin and Bayonetta were the most disappointed I've been with newcomers in Smash history.

Ultimate has had K Rool, Ridley, Inkling and Simon and the roster isn't even complete yet.

Ofc it's up to personal preference but for me I think the whole hype for Ridley and K Rool was dumb but for any fans out there I'm glad you got the characters you wanted

Eh, K.Rool and Ridley were the biggest disappointments in Smash for me.

On the other hand, Smash For had great ones like Mega Man, Little Mac, Palutena, Bayonetta, Robin etc. It's not even a competition.

Nah man. I think 4’s roster gets a lot more hate than it deserves, but Ultimate is currently destroying every previous Smash roster right now.

Why exactly? They might as well remove him from the game since Earthquakes happen so frequently in Japan. They should also remove Corrins final smash too then, they wouldn’t want to offend any Tsunami victims.

Ultimate's newcomers blow Sm4sh's out of the water for sure. Not a modern Nintendo consumer much so ambivalant to most new character.

A blind, stuck in a dark basement Stevie Wonder can appreciate how incredible Ultimates reveals are. Anything else is just salty, misguided and illogical crocodile tears. Gators gonna gate I guess.

Mega Man, Ryu and Cloud were big, big deals though and I don't think it's as big of a gap when comparing, but each to their own. Regardless, 4/Ultimate newcomers so far have been exciting/monumental and even mind boggling in their own ways.

Can't wait to see what else awaits us, I hope people are satisfied one way or another with what they see tonight/today!

I always thought that was weird since Yuji Naka wanted Sakurai to put him in Melee. If he had asked in time would SEGA have refused back then I wonder?

I don't think so.

A lot of folks think his moveset was just done on the fly to accommodate time constraints, but I don't think that's the case. Pretty much all, or most, of it was taken straight from Sonic the Fighters with big influence from his Genesis days. It's kinda dull but it's still works and is faithful to him.

Pretty much the definition of "boring but practical."

I think Brawl struck the best balance in terms of newcomer selection as there was something for fans of both new and old whereas Smash 4 favoured more towards more recent candidates whereas Smash Ultimate seems to be favouring more from the retro gamer variety, at least from the current looks from things.

I do hope they strike a good balance though once everything is all said and done so everyone can be happy rather than just one side or the other.
