I don’t think any of the characters ever where a safe bet. Simon was almost non-existent until Vergeburger. Ridley too and K Rool jumped on the Ridley train. Dark Samus was a sure fire after the AT and Samus’s alt was missing. Chrom wasn’t a serious pick until after his reveal. Daisy was well...being Daisy elsewhere.

The only for sure bet were the Inklings prior to thier trailer dropped. But I think so many characters are “safe bets” cause either:

1. They are new
2. Heavily requested for years
3. Missing from the previous game
4. Franchises who weren’t repped often ( DK and Metroid)

Skull Kid fits 3 and 4 as the new LoZ character since it’s AT missing and possibly replaced by the Moon. And the Moon could be it’s Final Smash but I see it changing into Majora’s Wrath and attacking players.

That would be an awesome final smash.

Medusa is missing from the previous game and she just so happens to be both the iconic villain to the entire Kid Icarus series and could echo as Palutena's counterpart.

I think the big difference is that RH needs to renew the trademark this year. Golden Sun doesn't.

12 newcomers seems absurdly optimistic.

I'm of the mind we will probably only get 3 or 4 more. 1 tonight, 2 in the next Smash direct that reveals the hidden mode, and maybe 1 more if we have anything else between now and release.

Who knows how many echoes after they gave us 3 in the last smash direct. I don't really expect any tonight though.

That's the more likely option. I think the unique newcomer will be Skull Kid, Isaac or a Pokemon and Isabelle and Dixie will be the new echoes

Golden sun last trademark was back in 2009, so they must renew the trademark in 2019, why now?

Nintendo trademark applications for Wrecking Crew, Rhythm Heaven, Mario Super Sluggers and Golden Sun have been made public today.

Trademarks in Japan last 10 years before they need renewing.

Mario Super Sluggers and Rhythm Heaven released in 2008. Wrecking Crew '98 in 1998.

It’s not a misspelling, ‘Frieza’ is a transliteration. Also, the reason people in the West spell it like that is because of Funimation.

The entire roster of the game is in reveal order. Announcements can't be shuffled or swapped.

Though personally, I'm doubting Isaac just because of the lack of a home stage. I'm licking a Switch cartridge if Skull Kid isn't revealed tonight so... a lot's riding on this.

Seeing as how Smash is supposed to be more 'gaming' icons, anything outside of that, such as an anime/manga character like Goku or Vegeta, would be a crazy guest character.

Let’s say you had only one character to show support for and, because of some driving, unseen force, it can only be a character that is somehow related to your username by name/theme/franchise/alphabet/etc.

For me, Venus of the Desert Bloom. Isaac is obvious pick so I’m gonna do the opposite and choose Krookadile.

Final Smash would be an Aurora Borrealis(yes at this time of year, localised entirely within Smash).

Whoop dee do a trophy.. Mewtwo had a trophy and what hes doing now? Yeah thats right the same thing Medusa will be doing in Smash Ultimate, being playable!

Oh and give Medusa a trophy for being my new main along with Ganondorf when she crushes all her opponents!
