Laughs and Logic
You know, something that people don't consider is that planning for Banjo & Kazooie could have been the impetus for improved relationships between the companies.I don't think Microsoft will get a character in the base game, late 2015 just seems like it was too early when you consider how their partnership has blossomed up some time later. I'm absolutely certain they'll get a character as DLC though, whether that be Banjo, Steve or even Master Chief.
I agree with your point, don't get me wrong, though to be fair there are actual reasons why we are extremely unlikely to see representation from those three series in particular:Ok. Lemme just say one thing.
This line of thought?
As a community, we need to stop doing that.
Just because a third-party franchise is "iconic" does not mean it will get content.
If it weren't for Verge saying there would be Minecraft content, there would be absolutely no reason whatsoever to assume that without any shadow of a doubt, Minecraft content would be featured.. And no, "it's Minecraft" isn't a valid reason. At all.
Otherwise, where's our token Call of Duty content? Or FIFA (and I mean more than just a generic soccer ball that can't really be tied to any specific series)? Or Grand Theft Auto?
These are three of the most successful gaming franchises of all time, just under Mario and Pokémon. So certainly, if Minecraft getting content is a lock solely because "it's Minecraft", then we're getting content from them because "it's Call of Duty/FIFA/Grand Theft Auto", right?
- Call of Duty: Mostly focused on grounded, realistic gun violence full of references to Nazis and one of the darkest times in Japan's history.
- FIFA: Licensed game starring real people who are depicted realistically who did not originate in a video game.
- Grand Theft Auto: Mostly focused on grounded, realistic violence and crime with little content that could feasibly fill out a moveset without references to such.
