Ubisoft is fine, for the most part. Starlink looks good and I actually really want it now that I know Team Star Fox will be integrated into the entire story...which is now kinda making it a Star Fox game that isn't yet another remake of the original Star Fox (like 64 & Zero were)

As someone who's only played that Flood mode of Halo 4 for like 10 minutes at a friend Master Chief would be dope as hell. Especially as it means Samus gets a new friend. Calling it now, if Master Chief makes it in, he'll be the new Little Mac and Snake, as in, shipped constantly

Well, there is the Covenant tech, I think that's their names, it's been quite a while since I've played Halo. Like I could see him using weapons like the energy swords and Needlers in place of more heavy and realistic weaponry.
And it's not like they wouldn't fit into Smash either, I mean you already have the Beam Blade and C4s from Snake.

Master Chief lives in a universe with a ton of alien plasma weapons. Chief's AR doesn't look like a real life weapon either. It's not that big of an issue.

Halo 3 was my entry to online gaming, so I'd definitely be happy if it happened. Though I don't really expect it and if we got a Microsoft owned character I'd prefer Banjo.

Here’s an interesting game/ something to ponder while we wait for a direct announcement. Consider this “what if” scenario:

Smash 4 DLC:

E3 Direct:

8.8 Direct:

Would Smash 4 still be freakin’ huge, and Ultimate feel a little too soon and less “Ultimate”? Would having the DLC have been more reflective of the ballot and characters like Corrin and Cloud being new additions for Ultimate feel more fitting or less exciting?

And who the heck would the most hype inducing newcomer for the upcoming Direct have to be to follow K. Rool?

Smash Ultimate's reception would have still been very positive thanks to all the returning veterans, I think. Newcomer hype would probably suffer, though. Now that we have Ridley and K. Rool, there aren't that many universally loved characters left; there are characters with niche followings, but nothing the size of those two. It seems like Geno, Isaac, and maaaaaaybe Bandana Dee are the only big crowd pleasers we have left that aren't third party, and sometimes I feel like maybe we overestimate how many people outside of the Smash fandom would get hyped for them.

All in all, if Smash Wii U had characters like K. Rool and Ridley, it would have been remembered a lot more fondly. Smash Ultimate's speculation probably wouldn't have as much hype going for it, but it would still be pretty close to what we have now: Regardless of them basically being locks, people like me were stoked for Inklings, and Konami fans would still be amazed by Simon and Richter. Not to mention Dark Samus making us Metroid fans even happier than we already were with Ridley, and Chrom being in due to popular demand. While I myself don't care for him too much, Ryu is a hype inclusion for a lot and would generate a lot of buzz if he were a newcomer for this game (just like he did back when he was DLC). Corrin probably would have been received even worse than they were back in 2016, as Fates and Corrin are suuuuuper hated nowadays and is kinda a punching bag game for the FE community. Cloud would have still blown people's minds like he did back on Wii U.

As for who the character to follow up K. Rool for the Direct? Hmm...I have a feeling it's not really gonna be a "hype" one per se, but more of an expected one. Probably a Pokemon, meaning whether or not it's hype for you depends on if you like Pokemon or not. While I do like Pokemon, I'm gonna be a little bummed if the next reveal is one from Gen 7, mainly because it feels really predictable to me. I'd be more interested if it was from an older gen, or maybe no new Pokemon at all and a focus on other franchises. That's just me, though; I know there are people here hoping for a new Pokemon from Gen 7.

Oh don't get me wrong!

I still do think Banjo is the most likely Microsoft rep

Though it's inevitable for Chief to be the next in line.

I don't think Sakurai would easily glance over Banjo if he were to approach the big M for representation in smash.

I think Master Chief is one of the very last "WTF!?" potential Smash additions that would still make complete sense since they're a huge video game icon. Same with Steve from Minecraft, as annoyed as some people would be with their inclusion.

I also think that, with how buddy-buddy Nintendo and Microsoft are being, that Microsoft characters are more likely to be in Smash than Sony characters (not to knock on Sony btw).

My galaxy brain take is that not only could we get Banjo-Kazooie, but both Master Chief AND Minecraft Steve alongside them.

It probably wouldn't happen, but you never know.

I mean, I mostly agree. But he has enough fantasy weaponry to use(like the Needle Gun), on top of grenades, the bubble shield, the Energy Blade and the War Hammer. Maybe even the Warthog if they incorporate vehicles and ****.

I'd rather have Fulgore than Master Chief though.

Fulgore > Banjo > MC for Microsoft characters if I had to pick.
