As much as I would love to try the demo, I would rather not drive all the way to NYC (that's the closest location to me) just to briefly play the game without much time to try out the characters I'm looking forward to playing that are going to be in the demo. Plus, there will likely be a pretty big line of people waiting to try the demo out as well. So, I'll gladly wait until release day.

There is a large amount of people who actively avoid the news these days, and may well have been waiting until 3pm to turn on the direct, unaware of what's going on in Japan or that Nintendo cancelled it.

Anyways, again, I do wish for there to be a new F-Zero this time around. There's been interest in making one since the Wii U and I do believe that it is time for one to come out soon.

Sometimes games take drastic turns in development and hide for awhile before coming back. Resident Evil 2, 4 and 5 all ended up way different than their reveal trailers suggested after significant delays.

I don't think Nintendo considers the manmade tragedy in another continent from 17 years ago in their advertising schedule. The earthquake was immediate and in their home country.
