Guys, Batman is iconic across all forms of media, he has good movies, good comics, good animated series and good video games. WHY ISN'T HE IN SMASH YET?!

My sources tell me Batman and Goku will be the final characters revealed for Ultimate DLC. They just completed negotiations with all associated third parties. Supposedly, there's an "East vs. West" theme going on.

Why Rex

I don't like Rex. I don't like Xenoblade 2 either, not like I think it's a bad game, but there's just a lot wrong. Where the world itself and the gameplay is good, it sucks in most voices and story kinda like F-Zero GX, and Rex in English is kinda a part of that since you're with him most of the adventure. also fyi just because i like/dislike a character doesn't mean i think they're probable or improbable, i just like or don't like them for whatever reason.

At the very least, Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland was released in Europe. He's probably not as hated there as he is in the US if they decided to release the game there.

Yeah. And, two Zelda characters have seniority over Skull Kid. They are Impa (the most recurring character outside of the Triforce Holders) and Tingle (who was popular enough to get his own spinoff games).

The issue with Impa is that she lacks a consistent appearance, only appearing as a possible fighter in 2 games, in OoT as a bystander and in SS as a bystander who at most uses a magical shield once.

Not even going to mention how Tingle is a disgusting joke character that I doubt either the community at large nor Nintendo want in as a fighter.

As for SMT, come on, even if the main franchise is niche, its demons are iconic no matter where you go in the world. Not to mention it's the mother of RPGs, coming out just one year after DQ1. Now that's some history.

I totally agree with you by the way. In the lens of historic significance, SMT certainly has that, which is a point in its favor. Ultimately I believe it comes down to the Cloud vs. Terra argument. We have a precedent for Sakurai's decision between Nintendo significance and straight up popularity, but it wouldn't surprise me if Sakurai went for a compromise of sorts and added Jack Frost or (even better) the Jack Bros.

I personally believe the best compromise would be a wildcard user from Persona using a variety of different demons from the SMT series, such as Jack Frost, Pumpkin Jack, their signature Persona, etc. Each one could represent one of the different Arcana (social links, confidants, whatever) as well, similar to how Yu Narukami had a Persona to tie-in with all of the Arcana in Persona 4 the Animation.

Ideally, Banjo & Kazooie. Realistically? I think we might get a big first party character next (Bandana Waddle Dee/Skull Kid) in a Nintendo Direct and after that perhaps a smaller but heavily requested character like Isaac/Felix, in a standalone announcement.

Maybe I should have said Skull Kid is one of the most iconic video game antagonists among people who know **** about video games. Like video games that anyone knows about, like THE LEGEND OF ZELDA. But, of course the keyboard warriors want precision.

But, even then, people know him or the mask from memes, or any local or online clothes shop, or that hot girl they knew in high school.
