No I didn't.
I said HISTORY WITH NINTENDO doesn't matter unless they had a recent game.
Ryu is universally iconic, not just to Nintendo. He's the fighting game character.
Simon is barely on Mega Man's level, isn't as highly demanded, has LOADS of competition AND his series hasn't had a game in a while, let alone on a Nintendo system.

The problem with Simon Belmont or pretty much any other Castlevania character is that they will have to deal with Alucard who is arguably the most popular and recognizable character in the franchise.

Also, while Simon or another Belmont's moveset would be awesome, Sakurai would probably love to have a go at Alucard who has his transformations, his magic spells which include Alucard's own version of Dracula's Teleport and then unleash three Fireballs attack(that would be a perfect Side B) his summons, and he can even use the Belmont Subweapons.

Before Cloud, I would have argued that Simon Belmont had the best chance given how iconic he is to the franchise, and the fact that while Alucard has appeared in Castlevania games on Nintendo systems, his Castlevania III appearance has nothing in common to how he played in SOTN, he had a supporting role in Aria of Sorrow, and while he was playable in Dawn of Sorrow, it was a stripped down version of his SOTN appearance in a bonus mode.

But with Cloud, I think anyone who has appeared on Nintendo consoles, regardless of how important their appearance was has a chance of showing up in Smash.

So, if Castlevania does get a rep, I'm willing to bet it will be Alucard.

I have my doubts about it becoming a straight up character but I can imagine a cute trailer with ROB if it is.

That’s a darn cute artstyle, would definitely work for a newcomer trailer.

That said, I think they might go a different route with newcomer reveals this time, especially if Smash Switch is a whole new game. With Brawl they had the initial trailer with loads of newcomers, and then subsequently revealing them via the DOJO. Smash 4 had the unique trailers, so maybe it’s time something new again?
Seeing as a lot of Switch games tend to come out mere months/~a year after their reveal (so far), I feel the first Smash Switch trailer will follow the Brawl style of revealing a lot at once and release pretty soon after. Pure speculation of course.

P.S. Labo is looking all sorts of awesome.

I would actually like this character somehow implemented in Smash ( character, assist trophy, trophy ), not kidding. For a cardboard structure that is actually very pleasing to look at despite it just being cardboard. Has Kirby's foot size been increasing the entire games ( no, not the sexual kind )? It actually depends on Smash for Switch. Easy: If Kirby's feet stay the change, than no buff to range. If Kirby's feet are smaller, than that is a nerf. If Kirby's feet are bigger than himself from Smash 4, than that can be considered a buff. Kirby seems to hate fighting characters with good range ( Can do literally nothing against Smash 4 Sonic, that is not about range. Maybe range takes a part in it ). It is all right, hello!

You know, Tharja would be a good choice to add as she is completely different from the Fire Emblem cast, but the game would easily become Teen. Her clothing is even more provocative than ZSS's clothing.

Let's not forget about Bayonetta's wardrobe as well. I know that you don't have to purchase her in Smash 3DS / Wii U, but if a possible Switch port has her available in the main game, then a Teen rating might have to come into play again, regardless of the censoring that the other human females have received.

On the topic of Star Fox newcomers, I don't think it's likely anymore. Wolf returning is most probable.
However, if we do get anyone, I feel like it would be Krystal because of her demand. Sakurai was even asked about why she was excluded.
With that said, I really don't want Krystal. I don't want to sound prejudiced but from what I understand (The only Star Fox game I've played is 64 3D, and that probably won't change) she's just a damsel in distress in Adventures (The furry bait outfit also rubs me the wrong way), doesn't really have much of a personality in Assault, and is an absolute ***** in Command. The story behind why she became a Star Fox character in the first place also bothers me.
Also, I feel like adding a character just because the rest of the characters in the universe plays similarly is a bad reason.
I'm okay with just Fox, Falco, and Wolf as the Star Fox cast. Slippy or Andross would be a nice bonus but nothing more than that for me.

This trailer makes me want to play Nintendo Labo. It looks eerily similar to Stack-Up/Gyromite except done right.

It wasn’t even a consideration for DLC and if Nintendo finds that somehow she would and they just can’t have a T rated game anymore (because reasons), they’ll censor her further to keep that E10+.

...which I find unnecessary since parents bring young children in droves to see unrealistic and violent-filled PG-13 Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbusters just to shut them up, but still.

In that scenario, I'd say yes to Alola, no to Valentia.

Mainly because a port presumably wouldn't have cuts, so any new Fire Emblem character seems less likely to me. The only chance I see Alm or Celica realistically having is if FE16 has protagonists that are Alfonse-tier in uniqueness, but that's heavily reliant on a number of factors.


...Which honestly sucks because Celica would be amazing and is one of my most wanted newcomers, haha.

You'd have to think twice about bringing children to superhero movies that go to R-rated levels though; Deadpool is one of the biggest offenders so far. The Bayonetta franchise definitely isn't for children, due to its contents being in the R-rated boundaries, so Bayonetta would have to see herself getting censored if she wants to be in a less mature environment.

I’m so glad you brought up SNK. I have been playing a lot of Neo Geo fighting games on the original Wii via Virtual Console lately.

I think Terry Bogard from the Fatal Fury series would be a fine choice. Mai Shiranui could be an Assist Trophy. A match between Andy Bogard and Joe Higashi could cause stage hazards. Geese Howard could be a stage boss.

SNK has some history in games themselves. I just got into Fatal Fury and King of Fighters games awhile ago. The resurgence of SNK via classic re-releases, Geese's guest appearance in Tekken 7, and a new game on the Switch is a good opportunity for an SNK character in Smash. It is all the better if Terry is in the base roster.

With Mai though, part of me expects her design to be altered to be Smash friendly. Even if she appears as an Assist Trophy.

But Terry is the best SNK husbando, therefore he would be a great fighter. Love the SNK fighters, cheap bosses aside.

It's a likely outcome for Mai Shiranui, Terry Bogard's potential sister-in-law, to be toned down were she to show up in Smash in any way, shape, or form. Terry Bogard is one of the most popular characters from SNK so he's got a good shot at getting in as far as SNK characters go.

Unless we're well into Gen 8 by the time Smash Switch releases I can't see them passing a Gen 7 Poke this time around. Now that they've explored DLC we might not get a Greninja situation this time around so I can see them holding off on any Gen 8 until they see who's popular.
An SoV character however, It's more 50/50. Celica's has an obvious gimmick and is clearly popular, winning the 2nd Heroes poll, so they could opt for a 7th FE character in a port, but then there's 7 FE characters in the game which could then bump up to 8 if FE Switch gets a newcomer along the line too. She's more likely to get in with a new game.

Bayonetta's wardrobe was not that revealing in Smash 4. Definitely less revealing than Tharja's.

Exactly. Adding Tharja would be nice but censoring her could make fans sad, or the ESRB could change to a potential Teen rating. That is why Smash 4 got rid of the Tharja rating to prevent the ESRB from giving Smash 4 a T rating.

I would take Celica in Smash for Switch as well. I fear that the developers would fear that they are oversaturating in FE characters.

I honestly don't know why I'm against her. I never even played Kirby 64 or Dreamland 3.
Maybe I'm just salty about how modern Kirby was handled in Sm4sh, but then again, I want Dark Matter so idk.

I don't care to participate in the polls but Galacta Knight is my favourite Kirby character. Awesome theme, awesome design, the series general lack of lore shrouds him in mystery. Most we know is he's the same species as Kirby and Meta Knight, is incredibly powerful and was sealed away due to said power. That all being said, Bandana Dee is far more likely. I'm just hoping GK makes it in as an Assist Trophy.

Genuine lore or fan made lore? Cuz I've played every main Kirby game and some of the side games and I don't notice much. Mostly due to a lack of text. I'm sure there's some stuff so if you have any examples then please, do share.
