By your own statement, the first batch of reveals are usually obvious. So beleaving any leak at this time is pointless

Again, the list is small. We know they are pulling from the ballot. All it takes is looking at fan requests and polls to make a solid sounding leak.

Ridley guy is the only one with a shot.

But we don't know the extent of how much the Ballot was used.

We also don't know how much of the ballot would be reserved for DLC if it happens (DLC=Popularity=Sales). Characters like Geno, Dee, and Banjo all could be DLC characters in the end.

Canon Lucina is not a swift fencer like Marth. Canon Ike is much faster than his smash counter part. They do not fight like their smash counterparts. Many smash characters don't. And that's fine. The fact that people can handle Ganondorf fighting like Falcon (and still retaining most of this moveset after nearly 20 years)but can't handle Soren having a small dagger is baffling to me.

But people believe what they want. I personally think the Neogaf rumor COULD be true, especially because people are so adamant on the Soren thing.

Of course I'll eat my words if it's not. Really don't care, just find it interesting since it HASNT been deconfirmed yet (even if Soren and Galacta Knight are cases against it.)

Except Lucina and Marth literally share the same animations in FEA. And regardless, it's not like the way they fight is uncharacteristic, it's still all in-character and logical, but Soren as a Robin Echo is not when all they share in common is the use of magic.

Actually it's been

One obvious (Inkling), two we had written off (King K Rool, Ridley), one we would have put money on (Simon), and yet no WHAAA character... I'm still thinking it should be Deathborn since out of every big bad in Smash, he would be the WHAAA-est of them all.

Well that's of the whole speculation, I was just being specific to the first big reveals.

Though that is a good point, now we know of echos, the fact that we have a limited number of movesets to go off of (albeit nearly 70) makes it easier to see who is coming.

Hey guys I have the definitive leak!! Sakurai himself sent it to me because he was tired of false leaks but PLEASE be careful, there are huge spoilers here!! Read at your own risk:

Spoiler: THE FINAL LEAK

-So Waluigi IS in the game, but he appears as an echo. He is an unique echo cause he can be the echo of any character you like. But when you choose which character echoes Waluigi, that character will also transform into Waluigi. And those characters around them in the CSS.

-Dixie Kong won't be in the roster, sadly, but we have a special guest!! Wrinkly Kong is back after so many years. She has a cool move with which she gives tips to other character about how to beat her. And in the secret Spirit mode, she will act as Luigi's final boss!! Sadly, cause she is so special and hard to implement, Sakurai had to remove K. Rool from the roster to save resources. He will announce it in the next Direct.

-You were expecting a new Pokémon rep, right!? I have great news!! Max, May's brother from the Pokémon anime, is here and he wants to battle! He is another Marth echo, but that was to be expected. There has to be a new Marth clone in every game, right?

-Who's the cruelest girl living in the haunted mansion? It's not Ashley, it's Gearmo, that weird robot from Super Mario Galaxy! He is an unique character who ranked very high in the ballot. He will fight with his robotic broom and he will be the main protagonist in the Adventure mode.

-You love Banjo and Kazooie, right? Well, rights for those characters were kinda difficult, but here we have Pipsy and Tiptup from Diddy Kong Racing! They act exactly like Banjo and Kazooie and Nintendo won't have any legal problems with Microsoft! Splendid!

-One of the most popular characters in the ballot was Isabelle, from Animal Crossing. That's why Sakurai added Pelly and Phyllis as Ice Climbers echoes!! Isabelle won't be in the roster, though, because how would she fight!? But you can choose Wrinkly Kong wearing an alternate costume based on Isabelle! Nice!

-Geno is a nice, well-liked character... But we don't want any irrelevant characters in our game, right? Instead of him, Sakurai added Link's Uncle from A Link to the Past! Nice, we love relevant characters!! He's another swordfighter but he dies when he gets two hits from another character! Uh-oh! A new Pichu!?

-Also, all newcomers announced were just a joke and they are all Waluigi. Nice, our favorite character finally gets some love!

How many Echos do you think we can expect to be left? I'm betting on there being around 3-5 more:


1. Shadow (Sonic) (Honestly surprised more Sonic characters haven't been added to Smash yet. Always seemed like an obvious thing to do to me.)

2. Isabelle (Villager) (Not as confident about her as I was a few weeks ago, but I still think the odds are good. Animal Crossing is HUGE, I would be surprised if it didn't get anything substantially new in Ultimate.)

3. Ken (Ryu) (I reaaaaalllllyyyy don't like this idea, but I've kinda just accepted it at this point. He's the only one of these I'm gonna say is a near lock, and that makes me kinda sad as I don't really care for him, lol.)

4. Dark Meta Knight (Meta Knight) (This is a risky prediction, as I honestly believe Kirby won't get squat in this game.)

5. Boshi (Yoshi) (Predictions aren't fun if you're not bold! If Geno is in, I think this guy actually has a slight chance. Extremely slight, though.)


I'm very likely to be wrong on all of this. I'm terrible at predicting Smash.

I disagree that we haven't had a WHAT? Daisy was a huge what. Many were speculating cutting clones like Lucina, Dark Pit and Dr. Mario. Sure many expected the entire Smash 4 roster to be ported over, but I don't think many thought Sakurai would double down on the clone idea from past game and even brand it. At least so far, the echo concept is one of the most surprising reveals and I'm glad he revealed it with Daisy, a character no one really expected to get in on her own.

Hell yes, Link's Uncle, I've always wsnted him but never thought he would be possible. 10/10 roster

I made a trailer for Joker:

Trailer starts with the Smash logo opening: Cut to an animated cutscene with Wario who we see in a large city, walking through minding his own business, when suddenly something is off, the city around him starts to change to a murky atmosphere, and Wario is horrified to find out that there are these creatures that are surrounding him, he pleads for help and all of a sudden out of nowhere a figure jumps in and shouts, “Show me your true form!”, taking off the mask, however it is weak and is instantly defeated on contact, the figure is revealed and exclaims “Power courses through me!”, cut to the tag line: “Joker Steals the Show!!”, after this Last Surprise starts playing, then we cut to gameplay with Futaba conversating with Joker simultaneously, giving him tips while also talking about how unfamiliar the territory is, we’re shown his moveset, which relies heavily on different Personas like Arsene, the Assist Trophy, Aigis, and the stage, the Velvet Room Arena, and finally it’s capped with Joker’s Final Smash, All-Out Attack with Morgana, Ann, and Ryuji. Cut to the Smash Ultimate logo and after this we see Joker confused saying, “Hm, Caroline and Justine, what are you doing here?” To which they say, “We’re not letting you escape this time, inmate.” Cut to black.

Please tell me what you guys think, I’d love to hear feedback.

Hilda of Zelda (Feels less likley than Impa if echos are purely decided by the ballot but my gut says yes)

Dark Meta Knight of Meta Knight (Don't see it as high priority but could happen)
Dixie Kong of Diddy Kong (As long as she gets Chrom'd)

Isabelle of Villager (Feeling pretty certain, could also be unique)
Medusa of Palutena (40% chance I'd say)

Shadow of Sonic (Nearly feels like a lock but can't be certain)

I wonder what the music this week is gonna be? I imagine music reveals can actually be a little scary for people hoping for new series representation. Although, a part of me thinks the hope for that might already be gone given Sakurai's wording on the stage count kinda implying 103 is the final number.

This. Where as there is demand for Shadow, before and during the Ballot, there wouldn't be for Ken at the time because Ryu wasn't in the game yet. Seriously by the time Sakurai was developing the project plan Ryu wasn't even in the game a year yet. I highly doubt there were requests from Ken even outside of the ballot.

Outside of the loading screen. I think i will hit the multiplayer to simulate smash 64. Stage will be cornaria.

I think echos are mix of ballot requested and a few personally chosen by Sakurai.

Tbh, I can kind of believe Soren. He's Ike's right hand man similar to Robin being Chrom's. He's not unpopular either even if he's not top 20 popular and does fit vaguely as a Robin echo.

I don't believe the leak, but I don't think Soren is quite as ridiculous as people think being the most popular lord of all time's version of Robin.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't soren exclusively a magic user? and thus giving him a sword would be weird? It'd be strange to go with soren when celica is right there and actually uses a sword

-First thing I'll do is unlock Inkling ASAP. Dunno if I'll do it via whatever the unlocking method is or by using amiibo yet, though. I gotta see what the unlock method is first.

Soren CAN use daggers in FE9, if you pick them over staves on promotion. however this is very suboptimal (then again mages in Tellius are kind of hampered in general compared to most FE's to begin with).

Did they say that? I just assumed Sakurai was showing off what the stage select screen looked like with everything unlocked.

Here's why the Nindies thing means nothing for Smash and why an Indie character even if one were ever to be a part of Smash in the playable roster would not be revealed in a Nindies.

Imagine being a small company who is so honored that Nintendo is showcasing you and your indie partners and the work you do in a way that no other company truly does. Now imagine Smash Brothers one of their biggest franchises just barges right in, hogs up all the spotlight announces Shantae, for example, and then it ends to close it off.

What are people going to be talking about? It's certainly not that nifty little indie game anymore. It's gonna be Smash, Smash, Smash. And Shantae herself suddenly overshadows other indie characters in their time to shine as well.

Nindies are totally different from a usual direct BECAUSE they are used to spotlight these titles away from the triple A titles. Throwing in a triple A title reveal in one would be a pretty big screw over to any attention any game might have gotten prior to that Shantae reveal you just did.

The real maybe is Ken tho. He does seem likely but Akuma is a bit more similar to Ryu than Ken. That's just my opinion tho
