Also, I feel like the whole "Cloud's series got its start on the NES so he's totally okay, but Dante isn't!" is sorta not seeing the forest for the trees.

Everything about Cloud and his series representation is based in Final Fantasy VII. Everything. A game that has never seen the light of day on a Nintendo console in any way, shape, or form. At that point it just becomes arbitrary semantics to be okay with Cloud's inclusion but not Dante's.

Ifrit's design is not actually from VII, rather VIII. another game not on Nintendo consoles.


You could also argue the other summons reflect those from older FF, ones actually on Nintendo consoles since their VII designs aren't that different.
Regardless of loopholes, I get your point but FFVII content has still found its way on Nintendo consoles before Smash, albeit in stuff like KH and Theatrhythm.

i really dislike mk in general bland character awful animations. plus i think the series is more known for bloody finishes than actual good gameplay unlike streetfighter.

Like, come on, KH3, has more news and that games taken 13 years.

I really hope it's good, and they ditch that episodic idea.

^ This. I've even seen too many FF7 fanboys that are obviously disgruntled by the episodic decision but are too in love with the series to admit it.

Releasing later parts of the game as expansions would be a better idea. That way you could at least explore the same world and carry the same gear.

I'm pretty sick of third parties too, but in a post-K. Ridley world, I'm more open to crazy stuff. Dante would be really fun.

I'm 100% confident that if we get another Capcom rep it'll be Dante. I would say Leon from Resident Evil but if the no gun rule is still a thing, which I'm not so sure about anymore, then he would just not be Leon.

The one thing that makes me iffy on Dante is the fact his singnature weapons are two standard looking (if magical) hand guns.

Gen 7 had some amazing songs like Gladion's theme, Guzma's theme, Lusamine's Theme, Ultra Necrozma's theme, even Hau's theme is catchy.

My problem with Resident Evil characters is it would be very difficult to translate the style and gameplay of Resident Evil into a Smash fighter without making them seem like a generic gun/explosives user.

Even Snake has his iconic crawl and punch-punch-kick combo, a cardboard box taunt, and the controllable Nikita. What do you do in order to make a character like Leon feel like he's from Resident Evil instead of just some dude with weapons? Tank controls?

Some Gen 7 music would be awesome, but god do I need me some more Gen 5 remixes. All I want is the Elite 4 theme and you'll have successfully fulfilled all of my possible Pokemon wants.
