Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

Dear sweet baby Jesus that happened fast. I liked the roster but some things are too good to be true. Proud of all the people who debunked it that fast. Hopefully I won’t see any YouTube videos about it.

I see a lot of fan rosters supporting the Gardevoir leak that don't have a Gen 7 Pokemon.

If the whole reason we're thinking they're adding Gardevoir and Gothitelle is to have a Pokemon from each gen, not having a Gen 7 Pokemon kinda defeats the purpose of having Gardevoir and Gothitelle.

Nah, it was for Smash Ultimate. I vaguely remember them getting Ridley right, but now that I think more about it the less I can remember it at all. Maybe I'm mixing things up
I think you are referring to the imgr leak thing, with the riddles that had Sora, Geno & Mallow and the likes.

I think you overestimate the masses' ignorance/willingness to believe something they really want to be true. Even debunked rumors stick around and get spread like a game of telephone.
Well yeah, I'm ignoring those people though, as I'm still in the camp that doesn't buy the Verg or loz "leaks." I'm thinking of a leak that actually has some credibility to it. Like that Rayman one.

Honestly, the only leak I put stock into right now is Vergeben.

Isabelle is most likely in as an Echo as he says, though I'm skeptical on the Gen7 claim, when only one of his sources was able to attribute a name to it, while the others have been silent.

That would be cool, but I have a kind of out there idea for a Sonic level.

Umm... wait here for a sec.

Oil Ocean, but a minute into the stage it backs out into the switch home screen and then selects Sonic Mania and then the stage becomes Studiopolis

What about Casino Night Zone for a Sega stage?

Hey, at least it's not Green Hill or Chemical Plant.
Sonic 2 was my first video game ever, so I'd totally be up for Casino Night or Chemical Plant.

I also remember Chemical Plant kicking my *** repeatedly.

Le perdite non sono state altro che guai. Alzando le nostre speranze, tanto per legittimarle o per schiacciarle.

Leaks have been nothing but trouble. Raising our hopes, just to either legitimize or crush them.

I've been having too much fun learning Italian all over again.

Not if the roster was completed along with the project plan back in 2015. Especially with DLC totally possible Gen 7 could be easily added later. (Of course if the leak isnt fake).

Here's my theory about why the NeoGaf leak is fake.

The reason why it picked up is because they guessed :ultchrom: was going to be a :ultroy: echo, right? And the "leaker" also said Soren is going to be in the game, and that there are 2 echo fighters from Fire Emblem.

The problem is, is that in his most recent post, he posted this.

"A young man's unstoppable destiny. One will live and one will die."

This is clearly pointing to the Black Knight from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, likely as an echo of :ultike:. But that just completely conflicts with the narrative that there will only be 2 FE echo fighters. Unless he's implying that BK won't be an echo, which I somehow highly doubt.

The reason why I think this quote is pointing towards the Black Knight is because "Unstoppable Destiny" is the name of his theme in Radiant Dawn, and "One will live and one will die" is one of his quotes in Fire Emblem Heroes.
The reason why I think that the Black Knight would be an echo is because both :ultike: and him were taught to fight by the same teacher, and they wield nearly identical swords.

I don't think this leak is legit, but that's just my opinion, and I'd love to hear a rebuttal.

I don't care about fake leaks. They have no merit to, and make no difference to the final product.

What bothers me is when the leaks are real. Like how everyone and their mother needs to tell everyone that breathes "LMAO Simon is confirmed for Smash, what am I doing here in a video about making delicious burgers?"

It's as if they're desperate to let everyone know that something is happening in SMASH!!!!!!!!!!

Incineroar being slated to be the Gen 7 rep works well with this leak too, as a masculine physical based brawler works well as a counterpart to Gardevoir's and Gothitelle's potential feminine zoner type playstyle.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles (the PC one) was my first Sonic game (not first game, period, I believe that was Super Mario Land).

My sister and I were among the kids who couldn't work out the barrel. We got past it via brute forcing it up and down: by using Tails to jump on it, and having Sonic spin-dash under it once it was high enough to squeeze through.

I swear we're smart people. >_>
He said noone from Smash 4 got cut. That's kinda off? Odd? I dunno how you'd describe it.
It's technically right.

KMDP KMDP I actually had this idea for a while. The Special Dimension (that's the dimension where the Special Stages take place, that's the name it's given in the Japanese Triple Trouble manual and used again when Whitehead described where the Chaos Emeralds go after being used when asked about it).

Basically a travelling stage, it takes you through various different Special Stage locations from different Sonic games:

Sonic 1, 2 and 3, Chaotix and Mania. They are the main method of collecting items like Chaos Emeralds, Chaos Rings and Time Stones and are pretty iconic to the Sonic series.

Fun fact: Fang The Sniper lives there according to the Japanese Triple Trouble manual. Explains why CD and Mania reveal that there are Cities and Factories inside them.

Hey, that is a cool concept.

Also, Fang living there is also a plot point in Sonic the Comic; all of the Chaotix, (except Mighty, who doesn't show up at all), live in the "Special Zone".
Nack is part of the Chaotix in Sonic the Comic; obviously, he defects shortly after his introduction.

There was never any chance of cuts between Smash Wii U and Smash Switch; why would they not build off a perfectly good HD Smash that no one bought? Icies were also only cut due to 3DS so their return was obvious.

So the stranger parts of the Sonic comics weren't all Pender's fever dreams.
Well... some of them at least.

Vergeben said no cuts from Smash 4.

Loz18 said everyone is back.

Big difference.
From what I've heard, loz18 may have had some sources that told him stuff about the E3 direct, and everything else after that has been him guessing, whereas Vergeben has had consistent sources. I could be wrong, but I believe Vergeben is legit and loz18 is not, at least not anymore.

Both were right at the end of the day, I don't see the big deal.
Both were right about that, yeah, but have both been right consistently since then? This is why we need to know if everything they've said is right so far, to see if they're both still legit

I mean Diddy + Dixie's hair for moves as longer range just sounds busted from the get-go. I still can't understand how they were originally planned as a tag team character.

Like... that just sounds like dancing with two left feet, because you'd have to limit both of them. On top of that, imagine having to fight 2 Diddys at once in Brawl or Smash 4.

That would make Brawl Meta Knight look balanced.
Brawl Diddy
Double Bananas
Probable Icie chain grab combos

Even NTSC Melee Fox wouldn't stand a chance

Anyways, Echo Dixie is too dangerous an idea to loosely throw around.

Actually a lot of stuff about Verge's Dragon Ball FighterZ leaks were wrong or misinfo like Hit being DLC and what not. He'll have something that's dead wrong soon and if not then we at least know there are something things he doesnt know like K.Rool

So maybe his sources were wrong for Dragon Ball FighterZ, but so far his sources have been right about Ultimate, right? Aside from Isabelle, of course, which is still unconfirmed

So does this mean his sources might be from Namco-Bandai? Maybe someone not on the team for DBFZ, but on the Smash team?

I’d think so too, I mean, it seems the guy has a LOT of different sources

And if the whole Nintendo giving fake info to trap and expose leakers is true, he’s making double sure that the source’s info is true

Loz’s source probably fell into a trap (likely Skull Kid, as well as knowing the ENTIRE K. Rool trailer storyboard) and was smoked out as a result

Yeah, the thing about Verg is so far, everything he's said has come true.

Loz18 was in a similar boat, but his Direct prediction was very wrong.

The oddest thing is that Loz18 'had' seen the storyboards for K.Rool's trailer, but his logic for K.Rool and Skull Kid being in to 'promote future Switch titles' is odd, to say the least, and him going into hiding after said claim makes me think by saying that, he smoked his source out to the Ninteninjas.
