Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

It is here, and was made on Saturday. You can be the first post with any luck!
CURSES That means my laziness got the better of me. I was going to do it but haven't gotten around to trying and guess I'm too late now.
Yeah I'll definitely support it.

Besides Goku, what's the most off-the-walls insane character you can think of?
Hamtaro. And he actually had not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 actual game pubblished by Nintendo (2 of thise were even developed by AlphaDream, the team behind Mario and Luigi)

El Grande Padre is a boss that goes through all his forms. Shaggy Blanco Ultra Instinct is an assist trophy and is even harder to K.O. than Alucard.
Ultra Instinct Shaggy isn't just hard to KO...

Sakurai: A few directs ago. I mentioned that some Assist Trophies couldn't be KO'd; well, we have have one more to show you: Ultra Instinct Shaggy.

To be fair, that's a very real possibility.

Let's say we get 10 New fighters, and 10 Echoes; the number of wholly new Fighters would only be slightly more than the least amount we've ever gotten (Melee's 8), but the actual total would be among the highest we've ever received.

Note: These 10s include the fighters we've already gotten.
I'm of the belief he only means unique fighters, and we have 2/3 new ones left with how many Echoes they can fit in.
I don't even think he was messing with us, I just think people interpreted it wayyy literally.
It's vague enough to spin any way you really want to.
A few newcomers could mean like a very small amount (We have 4 uniques + 4 echos right now, to make 8, and as far as we know, he might have as little as two more to show). He could mean "as much as the last time and not more, sorry". He could also mean "Just don't expect a massive amount of them, like 30 or something".

Only way we can really know is by waiting. Or asking, but I doubt he'd answer. Haha.

What I'm trying to say is there's no "literal" way to take it without making a bunch of assumptions.
Expecting many because of that quote is not an interpretation made out of it but rather just a "he's messing with us" with no reasom behind it.
Of course, I'd love to be wrong on this but this just goes back to how I think people should set their expectations up, which is: expect nothing except what's being promised.

The leak with either

I should point just because Simon wasn't in it doesn't mean its fake

Either he didn't have time to see the Simon part of the datamine

Or they remove him from the data but forgot richer from the demo version

The "I datamined the demo but somehow didn't get a single screenshot" leak might be the most Mission Impossible fanfic-y "leak" to gain unwarranted traction.

Problem i have with the datamine leak is proof. He had the thing. Why no pictures. No evidence.

Guessing richter is something, i will give him that, but if it is rwal, he has done a terrible job backing it up.

Someone would have screencapped it.

It would be like the esrb leak for smash4, but he just wrote about what he saw.

There is a tharja trophy.
And bowser jr.
And shulk.

And a few other sexy trophies.

Yeah man. I stole this from my job at esrb. Totally legit.

Oh god, if the ESRB leak had been text-only; imagine the utter ****show it would have been.

"Yeah, he got all these things right, but where's the Tharja trophy?"

Well, to be fair, the demo was made for June. For E3. Not in June. That's the versioning date, not the completion date.
It's the Event Version based on the event in 2018/06.
This leaves room for having "Event Ver. (2018/09)" or something down the line if they want, but it doesn't mean it was made in September if that was the case. It could have been, but it probably isn't.

True. Wonder how much scrubbing nintendo would have done on this version. Leaking demos is pretty common.

I keep forgetting to mention, but last night I hit upon something.

An Echo idea.

An Echo idea I think people are going to hate.

Bandana Dee. As a Kirby Echo.

Replace "Inhale" with a variation of Shield Breaker, and "Stone" with like a Counter or something.

Gooey as a Kirby Echo would work better, since both can get abilities from their enemies.

While I firmly believe 103 stages is all we'll get for the base game, I wanna have fun sharing my own thoughts of how likely the past stages not yet in Ultimate can be, especially since there's always a chance for DLC to happen.

Planet Zebes - Not gonna happen - It's basically a simpler version of Brinstar. I don't see the point of bringing it back.

Sector Z - Not gonna happen - It's literally an exact replica of Corneria, but bigger. There's no point in bringing it back.

Metal Caven/Meta Crystal/Metal Mario's Stage/whatever they could call it - Hopeful, but doubtful - A stage exclusive to classic mode with a layout that was never seen in any of its sequels, this one frankly is the only stage I can see coming for Ultimate, which would frankly be hype since it never was playable in multiplayer before... but that's also why I'm doubful of it; it's never been a multiplayer stage. That kinda sucks since it's frankly a stage I really want to play on.

Icicle Mountain - Not gonna happen - This stage is horrible and never should've existed in the first place.

Mushroom Kingdom - Doubtful - It looks way too much like the one from 64, which is already in the game. It has enough unique things in its layout to stand out, however, but is it really enough to justify its return?

Mute City - Doubtful - While many people have brought up the odd "Mute City SNES" thing for the current roster of Ultimate, I'm honestly unsure whether or not this stage will come back. It's way too similar to Port Town Aero Dive in concept to really justify it, imo.

Poké Floats - Likely - I'm not the biggest fan of this stage and am personally fine with it not being in Ultimate, but I also can't deny the fan demand for this stage. And given how important fanservice seems to be in Ultimate's development, it's got some really good odds.

Flat Zone - Technically already there - Flat Zone X is in Ultimate.
PictoChat - Doubtful - PictoChat 2 frankly makes such fantastic and creative uses of the whole concept of drawings giving life to the stage, to the point where the original feels incredibly barebones in comparison. There's really no point bringing this one back as its own stage, but it would've been really cool to see a "PictoChat X" kind of stage...

Rumble Falls - Not gonna happen - You thought Icicle Mountain was horrible? You haven't seen Rumble Falls then...

Flat Zone 2 - Technically already there - Flat Zone X is in Ultimate.

Pac-Maze - Certain - I seriously don't believe Sakurai would omit bringing the one good Pac-Man stage, the one that references his most iconic game too, in favor of an auto-scroller level that's not nearly as fun to play on. Whether it's a hidden surprise for the base game or a DLC stage, it's gonna happen. I'm sure of it.

Rainbow Road - Unsure - On one hand, this stage works the same way as Mario Circuit and Port Town, which is a reason why I shut down Melee's Mute City. On the other, this stage is so ****ing pretty and I love it... UGH! I don't know which side to pick! >_<

Jungle Hijinxs - Likely - Its nature as a Smash Wii U stage when it's been confirmed Ultimate uses many assets from this game gives this stage and the ones below a huge advantage over any other remaining stage since the HD assets already exist. But this stage deserves it through its own merits too, the background/foreground gimmick makes it a really creative stage that's really fun to fight on.

Orbital Gate Assault - Likely - Not even gonna try to claim otherwise; this stage is ****ing BEAUTIFUL! And it apparently took a whole year for just this one stage to do too. It'd feel like a waste to cut it or not bring it as DLC, but it's not impossible for that scenario to happen either... I still think it's likely to come back though.

Pyrosphere - Likely - I frankly don't see how playable Ridley can hold back this stage. Yes, there's a Ridley hazard, but as the same time, not only do they have different designs, but Knuckles can still show up in the background of Green Hill Zone despite the Assist Trophy of him existing.

Woolly World - Likely - This stage is pretty, has a unique yarn-like look and is a really fun traveling stage (the fact that it only has three layouts probably help at that). Personally one of my favorite Yoshi stages and it'd be a shame if it didn't come back, be it base game or as DLC to market that new Yoshi game.

Miiverse - lol - While the "Smash Wii U stage" argument I brought up in Jungle Hijinxs also applies to this stage, it's probably the one Wii U stage that has absolutely no chance to come back. Miiverse isn't on Switch, meaning its gimmick can't work in quite the same way and the layout is a battlefield clone without any unique twist on it (unlike stages like FoD or Yoshi's Story). This stage has no reason to come back in Ultimate and is most definitely the least likely stage to do so as well.

Chairs have had extensive history with Nintendo. For 129 years, Nintendo employees have sat in them making cards, toys, arcade cabinets, video games and of course, love houses not a joke. Therefore, the next newcomer will be CHEAP LOBBY CHAIRS!!!

Sakurai is a genius!!!
Or a fighting lover

How would ya'll feel about Chibi Robo in Smash as an echo rather than a fighter? Like what about other characters like that? What if Issac was an echo?

Actually, that's true. Why isn't there a folding chair item? Especially now that Boxing Ring is a stage?

The point would be on his spear, duh! :troll:

I didn't say it was a good idea. Just that it was an idea.
We’ll need a newcomer who’s a wrestler...well other than John Cena that is

I wonder if I should make a topic going over fan-imposed rules, and which ones are more legit than others, which may be based in bias.
That way, maybe, we'll have a more precise look into our speculation.

Hm.
